Customer care was... less than stellar. I went to get my eyes checked so I could get contacts, and they sent me home with test contacts for a week. My eyes have always been the same, no astigmatism and theyve always had the same prescription. When I put the contacts in, one side was always blurry. When I had my appointment a week later, I told the guy that came in before the doctor this and he had me read the chart on the other side of the room, with both eyes. He said I was seeing 20/20 and I tried to explain that it was only ONE eye that was blurry and he basically said that I was seeing 20/20 again, he barely even looked at me, and left. When the doctor came in, I said the same thing and she completely dismissed me and said that my chart says what it says and said that shell use a different brand, but I thought she got what I was saying. But when I came back to pick up the new brand of contacts, I asked if the prescriptions were fixed to be the same and surprise surprise, she had written me off and didnt change anything. So I was given another appointment and I was confused which day they made it so I asked Hannah to write it on a card. She said she wasnt going to because they call the day before. I never got a call, so Ive decided to not go back. A complete waste of my money and time.

First, customer service is horrible. I went to make an appointment for my Daughter, and they said her account was locked so nothing could be done until previous balance was paid (their fault for not communicating with my insurance property- but I was told I had to do that!?!) The receptionist was very rude. Their selection of glasses that our insurance covers is very minimal and we were directed to “go over to the back corner”. Horrible experience. To make matters worse, I recently took my daughter to a different optometrist... the doctor asked if she could ever see 20/20. This was never, ever mentioned from the doctor at Reed, my answer was “I don’t know.” I called Reed for that information, again, the receptionist was very rude.. and said yeah.. her best corrective vision we got was 20/45. Wth!?! For 6 years I went to them and was never informed of this as her mom? I guess I know now why she didn’t pass a simple eye chart test from the school and got a letter, which happened only 3 months after she got her new prescription! Terrible. I do not and will not recommend Reed Eye!

Dr. Ferrar & Staff at the Newark location make a fantastic team. Dr. Ferrar is very thorough and communicates clearly and understandably about your condition and treatment. The Newark office is welcoming and compassionate and Ive never felt rushed or herded around as I felt in the larger Reed location in Pittsford. While the care I received in Pittsford was great, the location simply feels too retail. The staff standing on the sidelines ready to usher you in and then pass you to the glasses side of the house, felt like I was in a drive-thru. Sure, I realize the medical care is the important part, but I think the atmosphere is also part of the care process. I dont need a foot massage and a cup of tea while I wait, Pittsford staff, but I can see you hovering with my one good eye and youre weirding me out.The upside is I now have two good eyes to see the hovering staff thanks to the great surgical skill of Dr. Bloom of the Pittsford Office. Dr. Bloom performed surgery on both of my eyes and I am very happy with the entire process. Dr. Bloom & staff very carefully explained the process from start to finish, provided me with detailed documentation and made me feel very comfortable about what to expect, including the explanation of billing, in advance. My surgeries were a success and the follow-up care was provided in the Newark office by Dr. Ferrar. I am thankful to have an office located so close to home and was glad to know my treatment would continue with a familiar care team in the Newark office.Overall the eye care at Reed is exceptional and the staff go above and beyond to care for their patients. The optical side of the house however, specifically in Pittsford, would be more comfortable if theyd back off on the upsell.

I have not been seen at this place, but when I called to inquire about setting up an appointmemt, I made the decision to not even bother. The woman who answered the phone, I believe her name was Shirley or Cheryl, was less than enthused to be speaking to someone. And when I inquired about their charity care as a friend had mentioned it to me, as I have no health insurance, she rudely said that thats not something they handle and that Rochester Regional is responsible for that, and if I didnt have health insurance and if I wanted to be seen it would cost $200 and she doesnt even have time today. I said um okay, hoping shed tell me a link or a way to contact Rochester Regional because you know its huge and has many different networks and whatnot. Instead she said okay. I said alright I guess Ill call the hospital and she gladly hung up. The first 15 seconds of interaction with her made my mind that I wouldnt waste my time with this place.

I brought my husband to the practice in Newark. Although my husband is physically and mentally disabled, all the staff, including the doctor, treated him with respect and took great care of him. I give this office 5 stars for being caring and great at their job.

The staff is very friendly and put up with both of my young children while I was looking for glasses. However, the staff member named Shirley has terrible customer service skills. Every time she answers the phone it is just unbearable attitude and she is just rude.

The in-office experience was great. My whole family has started being seen at this office as our previous provider moved. There are 4 of us who wear corrective lenses and if you know pricing for eyewear or lenses you know it can get pricey. We purchased 2 pairs of glasses totaling over $1000 from the Reed office. When it came to purchasing contact lenses for the other two I talked to the receptionist about ordering from 1-800-contacts. No problem they said. I did feel awkward but the savings was a couple hundred dollars. So, I went home and ordered with the Rx they sent home with me. A week later I received a different Rx in the mail. I called Reed in Newark and was told that they provided 1-800-contacts with the correct Rx and that I should be all set. Whew! Even though I felt like the woman didnt care about my concern or that I was given the wrong Rx in the 1st place I had hopes that the correct lenses would arrive.I received the lenses today. The wrong lenses. I called Reed first and again, with absolutely no offer of responsibility/accountability or even empathy, I was told to call the supplier. No problem, obviously I would call them and ask for a return. I dont know what I was hoping for when I called Reed but I certainly was not expecting what I got.Oh, and when I asked for an extra contact because my 14-year-old son has lost one and now we have to wait for his correct lenses to come in, I was told it wasnt their practice to give replacements unless we purchased the lenses directly from them. I reminded them that during the contact lense consultation we were informed that if he lost one to let them know as the replacement lense was included in the fee the insurance and I already paid. But now that I needed a replacement I get a hard time about getting one. Apparently, that contact is only available during the week between appointments.So... I moved on and chatted with the supplier, 1800Contacts. Finally, some empathy and action.
