The only place we get our meat. Just knowing that they care about each and every animal they provide for us is huge. Everything living a nice and healthy life before arriving to them helps my family stay as healthy as can be. I can’t believe we spent years of our life eating meat from animals that were over fed to such a degree they couldn’t stand. Simply the best!

This place is a gem. Best sausages I’ve ever had I don’t know how they come up with half of their flavors. Every day they have a sandwich of the day and there has never been a bad one. Each one is different and sandwiches you can only get from the modern butcher. The sandwiches that feature Italian deli meats or feature Panko breaded chicken are my favorites still have yet to try any of their sandwiches that feature red sauce and chicken cutlet but I’m sure they deliver as well. Every Saturday they have roast beef 3 way sandwiches and they are the best roast beefs New England has to offer. Perfect roast beef, great bbq sauce the most delicious toasted onion roll, and even the sandwich is so stuffed with beef when you eat it none falls out it defies physics.

This is simply a top-notch butcher shop, and one that has made a name for itself with delicious and novel daily sandwich specials. Their Friday roast beef sandwich is what theyre best known for, but on this weekday (a Tuesday) they had a chicken sandwich that featured a cooler ranch dorito crust, cheese, and all the other fixings of a loaded chicken sandwich. The chicken itself was succulent, tender, and juicy while still holding its shape. The bread was great, and paired well with the whole. I also bought steak tips which while not inexpensive are of excellent quality. My only disappointment was they were out of sausages today. I found out they make them just prior to the weekend, and just like with their sandwiches once theyre gone theyre gone. Its worth driving a bit out of your way and even waiting in line for The Modern Butcher, and I strong suggest you come hungry for whatever their sandwich of the day is.

We picked up bone in ribeye steaks, they were out of this world, such a great place, I would highly recommend their selection of well selected meats

For those of us who do not know about this place, its time to take notice. all of their food is absolutely amazing. From the delicious and unique sausages to the ground beef, everything is top notch.Dont believe me? take a drive by their shop and let the lines speak for themselves.To top that off, the owners clearly care deeply about their customers which just adds to this butchers excellence and the overall customer experience.case in point - we had a less than ideal experience around the holidays with someone that was hired to help out. Lisa was wonderful and called me to help remedy the issue. She was genuinely upset that we had this experience (see her response below this review). By the way, the roast we purchased for Christmas was exceptional, easily the best our family has ever had.One last anecdote of import - we also ordered our turkey from Lisa and Warren for thanksgiving. When i called to pay, i was concerned that the bird may be too small. so you know what they did? they switch out mine for theirs which was a bit larger. wow.Great people that provide exceptionally good eats. go try them out!

Warren and Lisa run a fantastic whole body butcher shop - always offering something fun and unique everytime i go in. The specialty sausages are a must try and will not disappoint!

The modern butcher is unmeasurable. The only place we get our meat. Locally sourced from farmers who care about their animals. You can taste the difference. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and kind, and very willing to work with you ahead of time if youre looking for something particular or placing a large order. Their specials of premade goodies are fabulous, their sandwiches if you can get one are unmatched. However dont be salty if they sell out, thats life, try something new and you wont be disappointed. Can not recommend this butcher enough.

Drove an hour out of the way when I was visiting to get a sandwich after seeing them all posted for months. Well worth it! Super legit sandwich with great ingredients. Shoutout to the guy sprinting around and bringing them out. Also snagged a bunch of sausages and steak tips for the grill which were great and super high quality. Definitely check this place out.

Called my order in 20 minutes before my lunch break. Got there and then waited 40 minutes for my sandwich that takes 2 minutes to make...mind you my lunch break is only 30 minutes so it was over before I even got my food. I was so beside myself I could wrecked the whole place. Thank you so much for ruining my work day such amazing service. Newburyport is horrible and all you yuppy cucks. You all have nothing to do so you expect us all to bend over backwards for you all. Some people actually have places to be and jobs to perform!

You cant beat this place. The meat is locally sourced, its the highest quality you are going to find in New England, and most importantly, Warren and Lisa are fantastic. They are cutting everything themselves and constantly putting new things in the display case. No other butcher shop in the area comes close.

This place is beyond amazing! Their roast beef every Friday and occasional Saturdays are to die for almost literally!! And their locally fresh produce is worth every penny !!

Hard to find good quality, non commodity pork. Havent even cooked the shoulder I bought yet, but already know its going to be great. Why spend 16 hours cooking something if its bad before you even start. Spend the money, support local, get a better product for yourself and family. Pork isnt supposed to be white meat.

Bought a whole pig from them last weekend and had a lot of questions which Lisa and her husband helped answer and make the process very easy. Pig came out awesome! Cant wait to go back here to try the sausages!

Extremely helpful and friendly, I tried the pre-seasoned steak tips and chicken quarters and they were as good if not better than any chop house. Thank you! I’ll be back :)They also have pre-cooked meats and sandwiches for when you don’t want to light up the grill.
