Aromas is open again! I didnt do my normal coffee taste test, but I can say that Aromas is staple of NN. There arent many coffee shops around and many dont have the whole package like Aromas. The aesthetic is witty vintage and its located in City Center. They have a varied menu and due to COVID, there is more time to look through options before coming to a decision. I ordered a signature mocha and it was great. The chocolate flavor was rich, but the coffee flavor was lacking a tad. Service was average and the employees were kind. They receive 5 stars due to location, menu options, and aesthetic.

Cashier was very nice and drinks were made quickly. The coffee house was fairly clean, but the outside was not so much. Id recommend someone go outside every so often and wipe off the tables. Other than that, I enjoyed the location and atmosphere. The coffee house location faces the beautiful center park pond.

Aromas is smack in the middle of City Center in Newport news. You will have a great view of the fountain as you sip your loose tea or your better than average coffee. Its a great place for catching-up with a friend and enjoying an acoustic guitar performance from a local artist. The food is okay but I would recommend a hot beverage.

I love this place. My friend comes here often to study. The food is delicious. The vibe is perfect. The staff were very friendly and helped me choose what to order.I ordered the Thai Veggie Wrap without cheese and it was amazinggg! I also ordered a cappuccino with oat milk, it was average. I will definitely be back

Love this place! Im so happy they opened a location in Newport News. Place s a wide array of customers from students to business people. This place is super cosy with great views of the fountain. Also has outdoor seating! Serves little bakery goods to a full breakfast menu.

I love a great local coffee shop and always seek them out in any city I visit. Unfortunately I would not consider Aromas a business that I would return to. Regrettably I think its a pretty sad excuse for a coffee joint and the four stars shocking.The location in busy City Center Oyster Point makes it an instant hit with tons of foot traffic and nearby hotel. Parking is by garage, or surface off street. Debris was visible on my walk up. An outdoor patio is available with dog drinking bowl. However, the bowl was disgusting. If your going to offer this for customers it should be maintained.The interior had a cool vibe with wood floors, high ceilings and large chalk board menu. The contrasting mustard and crimson colors provide a warm ambiance to enjoy a coffee and pull out a book. The shop has seating by table and chairs and accommodates more than you might suspect. The bussing area has dirty dishes on top. Debris was scattered on the floor from trash to leaves blowing in.On a Saturday afternoon they were quite busy and most seating was occupied. The cases had bakery, dessert items which I was interested in. I inquired as to if their items were in-house etc. the female staff said some items are, others Sysco such as the carrot cake I desired but it was recommended. I wanted a mug instead of paper for my White Chocolate Mocha, however only a small an option with others being dirty I assume. Checkout efficient, staff not necessarily friendly.My latte and cake came out in around 5 minutes. I found a fork and napkin at a self serve area not far from the pick area. It was clean. Creamer, sugar etc is found at this location.My latte was ice cold and presentation sloppy. I reported it and the barista apologized and happily made another. The second cup looked better and coffee was warm this time. The whip appeared to be from a can. The taste was ok. The carrot cake was the biggest disappointment. It tasted a few days old with cake being dry. The frosting was ok.If this is the best local coffee shop in Newport News then thats alarming for the community. I would choose a Starbucks over Aromas any day. The decor is winning, the coffee and cake not so much. 2.5, sorry can’t round up.

This is close to a starbucks, but better. It’s relaxing with tables and soft chairs to relax or read the paper. The coffee choices are great also and they serve breakfast and lunch specials. I like the bagel w lox,tomato,and onion. But they have a full selection of pastries including a 4” slice of apple pie. These change on a regular basis.

Very good drip coffee, had the southwestern chicken wrap as suggested by one of the kind baristas. Came with a side of corn chips. Very delicious, made-to-order food. Got a discounted raspberry orange scone from the day before, also very tasty. Service was very quick, kind, courteous, and conversational. Not from the area, but if I did live in the area, this would be a great, relaxing spot to be at often.

My broccoli cheese soup tasted burnt, and the curry chicken salad sandwich was so hot/ spicy with red pepper or a Cajun type seasoning that it was inedible. :( Latte was good though.

Breakfast was good and people are nice. Need better cleaner bathroom.

Super cozy coffee shop in the heart of a very active and fun City Center. I love the atmosphere and they offer a great variety of flavorful teas/coffees. Great place to have a study session or brunch date.

Cleanliness is a huge issue here. We were handed dirty mugs that had just been used and taken back for our tea, the pot it was in was dirty and chipped, the bathrooms filthy, we never saw anyone wipe a table or clean near the overflowing trash can at the door during our visit. The teas and biscotti were good though. They need to pay attention to what is in the case, there are random tags in them and mislabeled desserts. Honestly they just need to clean. It would be a regular place to enjoy lunch and read a bit but how dirty it was and how unconcerned the staff was with it was actually very concerning for us. Reading reviews I see its a constant problem.

Ive been frequenting Aromas for years now. Never disappointed in the service or the food and drinks. Today my husband and I had breakfast there and it was delicious! Servings were plentiful and the eggs, potatoes and bacon were cooked perfectly. Thick slices of toast, good strong coffee...def go for breakfast of you havent yet.

Love their coffee! Best place to go! Great prices and awesome location. We always grab a cup and have a short walk around the fountain.

The service was great! The hot chocolate was really good with the whipped cream - yum yum. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs (5 of us)!

Tasty apple pie but soggy. Soft & very thin crusts for lots of apple slices. Ice cream was too soft, not frozen enough. Cafe latte was great.

Today we visited and it was a great experience. Not because the food and coffee was delicious, although it definitely was.. but the customer care far exceeded my expectations. I very clumsily spilled my macchiato all over the table and floor. Yikes, embarrassing right? I was upset and fumbling to clean it up and the barista behind the counter came to help. She was so nice about it, no sense of frustration from her at all. She brought cleaning supplies and immediately asked what I was drinking so she could get me another. I attempted to refuse it but she wouldn’t have it. I wish I knew her name so I could give her a true shout out. But for now, I hope she will see this. I really appreciate the understanding and compassion you showed me today. We will def be back 🖤🖤

Nice coffee shop in Newport News, Va. I had a Belgian waffle and a side of scrambled eggs. Reasonably priced for portion sizes. I dont care for them leaving coffee drinks on the counter without lids, especially in this era of Covid, but I overall enjoyed my experience and would go back!

Love this little coffee shop! It has wonderful food (salads, sandwiches, and assorted breakfast items) along with a variety of high end coffee drinks. You are sure to find something that you like there! My family reserved at table for 10 people on a Saturday and the food, drinks, and service was wonderful. I would suggest giving this place a try.I specifically can recommend the stuffed apple French Toast, and the Almond Joy Latte!

The latte’s here are amazing and a must try! If I could I would buy stock in this company because I guarantee they will be around a very long time! If you’re touring the VA Beach/Newport News area do not miss this stop!!

Affordable and cute café. The coffees here are so good and they’re 40% cheaper than Starbucks. I recommend the Prince George’s Mint Mocha if you want a sweet but cool drink with the hint of mocha for a refreshing feel. Or the William’s White Mocha. It’s like the Starbuck’s white chocolate mocha but a lot better and cheaper! Overall a cute and affordable local place!

Loved the atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, the menu has a nice variety of inexpensive selections and the portion size is perfect if you are someone who likes to take leftovers back to the office. This was my first visit and I plan to return. I went for brunch so Im not sure what the scene is like in the evening but in the late morning, its the perfect place to study or read while enjoying a good breakfast.

Probably the best coffee shop in town. Also one of the best places to have breakfast.

We stopped by two days in a row as we were staying at a hotel near by. The staff was very nice and they coffee was great. Highly recommend the honey do latte, it was amazing. The breakfast sandwiches were also great. The atmosphere is really cool, and while it was a little busy, we still received our orders is a timely fashion.

Great place to meet for a quiet cuppa with a friend. The staff are friendly and efficient and the menu covers basic and gourmet coffees, full breakfast, and pastries. It’s in a great location, central to shopping, restaurants, and a movie theater.

Every time I go in I am greeted with a very friendly staff who is willing to help me with my tea selection for the evening. Im very grateful for the large selection. I try to enjoy something different and the knowledgeable baristas assist me with patience. Tonight I tried a scone to accompany my and my experience was brought to a new level of enjoyment with them. I have enjoyed this place for years. To watch a local icon fall apart after years of great sevice saddens me. There is a clear effort to cut costs, poor quality food, not as clean, not has helpful staff. It would have been better to close the store altogether. Good bye.

I like this place. It has a nice atmosphere to it. A typical coffee shop with a decent selection of different brews. They have a secret menu which makes it cool. I had a Butterbeer Cappuccino which was delicious. The staff seem nice. They had an open patio where you could enjoy the weather outside. 4-stars because of the prices. They were a little high. Just like a typical coffee shop.

We come here weekly and we always have a good time. Typically the food takes around 30 minutes to come out but when my husband and I visited last time my salad took an hour to come out. My husbands BLT hadn’t come out and after 2 hours we just asked for a refund. The food tasted good, but the wait when everyone else was served and the staff was eating behind the counter is ridiculous. We both went up 5 times before finally just getting a refund. Would recommend drinks and the food tastes good but be prepared to wait a LONG time before you get served.

I visit here often to do work and meet with other people for business or casual meetings. Aromas has a great staff who are always friendly and willing to help with any coffee cravings you might have. Prices are quite affordable for both black coffee and their specialty crafts. The environment here is wonderful, there is always a new connection to make. Plenty of people from a variety of backgrounds are always here. Great coffee, excellent prices, and an environment for meeting new people.

I went to meet a friend that never showed up but the staff was awesome and the coffee was great!! I will take that hour and a half again.

I enjoy writing good reviews, but! The photos look good and was interested in trying. The young lady at counter was sweet. The coffee mediocre at best. The food, the breakfast burrito was bland dry cold and was mostly filled with a cheap salsa never tasted the churico sausage that was bland. And the home fries were absolutely revolting!! Salty as all heck and soggy with I can only guess oil. Microwaved bacon and gave us a stomach ache in the end. Cute looking spot but that’s about it.

For someone who values cleanliness, I cant order off the menu because of the mess and dust bunnies on the floor, food scraps, etc. Its old dirt and there are no excuses for this. Sorry. Hoping you can up your game because I really do love supporting local businesses. Ive enjoyed your food in the past, but today this place is a wreck. Thank you and hopeful.

Aromas is unique because it has a coffee shop ambiance, but offers a lot more than a typical coffee shop. In addition to standard coffee shop fare, there is full entree dining and beer, including a few on tap.The open mic on Wednesday nights is a lot of fun. The crowd is fairly open to any type of music. Some people perform popular covers, others cover less popular genres or more obscure songs, and still others perform originals.

I really like this place. Ive only. Went here once before. Food is fresh and tastes great. Brought my mom and my sister and her boyfriend (who are deaf) to this cafe for the first time. The muffins were absolutely delicious! Also thanks to one of the cooks that remade a plate for us because it came out without the onions and peppers.The bathrooms were nice too.

I have tried so hard to like aromas but this morning put the nail in the coffin. I ordered meat lovers quiche and side of fruit. The fruit was horrible quality it looked like it sat in a freezer without being covered then thawed out and served. Dont get me started on the quiche. It was cold! It was literally just eggs baked in a dry crust with burnt cheese on top. Gross! Like there was no cream added no cheese all throughout the quiche. Not returning.

Great coffee shop with not only great coffee but an incredibly interesting selection of teas. Atmosphere is warm but not too comfortable, which could be improved. The aroma inside is simply amazing, and the staff were super friendly and quick to help.

Ive been here several times - sometimes for coffee and sometimes for lunch. Their coffees are good, with a well stocked condiment bar for fixing up. Their sandwiches are awesome and HUGE. I usually end up eating half and taking half with me. All in all, a great spot!

Deeeeelicious!!! But please put the large tables along the wall in the center and the little tables on the outside, my boyfriend hit his head on the lamp three times. Yes, he should have avoided it the second and third times but Im very distracting you see..

Been coming here almost every Wednesday for about the past 3 years for open mic, I always look forward to visiting every week to socialize, chill, and have the best hot drinks in the area!

Its a great local spot that builds the community. Dont just grab a coffee, check out the open mic nights, poetry nights, or other events they host there!

So the coffee is great and one of the other cashiers was simply amazing, however.. The cashier that I got was the perfect definition of droopy, moody, and unhappy. I was not at all thrilled with her customer service and it ruined my experience there.

The food was amazing. The only downside in my opinion is that you clear your own table. Id rather tip a waiter/waitress to do that. Aside from that...food and prices great.

Although I enjoyed the coffee, felt like I was bothering the baristas when ordering. Egg and ham omelet was cold/ like refrigerator cold, cheese dried on top. Asked for it to be put in microwave to just be warmed up, again “bothering” the person behind the counter. She did warm it up- the whole plate- including the orange slice🥴. After finishing saw one of the kitchen staff standing by the sink holding her nose with a tissue- proceeded to stand for several minutes, with the tissue literally shoved up her nose, and then go back in the kitchen - NOT washing her hands in the sink that she was standing right next to!Overall, a terrible dining experience. The staff was unprofessional, rude, uncaring, poorly attired, and unsanitary. Give me a break.

Have dined @Aromas twice; both times the experience and the food were impeccable. I had a sandwich and a smoothie both of which were excellent. I dont think the closing listed is correct. The only night they remain open late is for the Wednesday night open mic night. Other than that they close at 6. Price of an entree and beverage just south of $10.

Went here a couple of times while living up in Newport News and was pleased each time. The drinks are really good and the place has a very cozy and eclectic vibe. The staff was nice and were very efficient when it came to preparing our beverages and having them ready in no time. I would recommend that if you are in the area and want to stop into a nice quaint cafe for a quick drink and a bite to eat you try out Aromas! I think you will be quite pleased that you decided to give it a try.

This was my first time at the Newport News location. They were very friendly and I love the cute teapots and mismatched mugs. Parking is difficult though unless you want to park in the garage, so be prepared to trek for a minute to get there.

I was so hyped for breakfast here while my husband and I were in Newport News for business, but I was pretty let down. The customer service was very poor. Everyone working seemed to have a chip on their shoulder about something. I greeted the girl behind the counter with a friendly Good morning! and a smile, and she didnt smile or say anything in return. In the middle of the our order, literally my husband was midsentence, she took a call. I asked a question about where to get cream for my coffee, and the response was a very sharp, Behind you. I ordered the veggie quiche, and it was terrible. It reminded me of something that would come out of a school cafeteria. It was very bland and lukewarm. My husband ordered brie french toast, and it was really good, but his eggs were cold. Also the plastic cutlery makes it very difficult to eat. I would not eat here again.

Decent little coffee shop, nice place to have lunch or get a good cup of coffee. Missed the five star mark due to some coffee grinds blatantly around the rim of the French press, but the banana fosters cheesecake was pretty awesome.

This is one of the best coffee places in Newport News. Their breakfast burrito with chorizo is fantastic! The Honey Do latte is great for the winter and I adore their Dog Street Chills with raspberry! Just to name a few of the many incredible choices ;)

Came in at about 5:30p on Sunday. The space is nice, definitely a nice coffee house feel. Where and what to order were unclear but once I figured it out the employees were very pleasant. I ordered at 5:35p according to the time stamp on my receipt, a soda and a tuna melt. I waited for the soda and then grabbed a table to wait for the sandwich. Guys began carrying in big audio equipment and I was made to feel as if I was definitely in the way as they began clearing other patrons out of their way. I was reminded twice by these people that the shop closed at 6p. I knew this of course but was still waiting for my food. At 5:55p I still had no food and went to the register to ask about it. I found it sitting on the counter buried behind a stack of audio equipment where I couldnt even get to it. No one ever called out that it was ready as I heard them doing with other orders, and I couldnt get to it even if they had! I asked one of the employees to get it for me, and it was transferred to a to go container since I no longer had time to eat it.When I went outside to eat my sandwich I found out that I had been made to feel unwelcome and essentially kicked out by a church that apparently has a service there on Sunday at 6:30. I understand closing time and knew that when I ordered but very disappointing to be made to feel unwelcome by people setting up a church before the shop even closed!I will not likely return.

Always driving through and needed a coffee that wasnt Dunkin or that green fish place....Im not hip on the coffee lingo, Ill have a strong iced coffee with white chocolate and berries, light on the cream. Theyre iced white Christmas mocha was on point! Very helpful staff. I dont mind the short detour off of the highway. Worth it everytime!

My son spilled most of his fancy drink, and the staff were exceptionally kind and friendly with him. They wouldnt allow us to clean it up, and they made him another drink no charge. This is the kind of customer service that will continue to keep us coming back. Thank you for your kindness and professionalism.

I enjoy visiting Aromas and prefer their coffees over any of the other local establishments. I didnt give five stars, because my general impression when visiting, is that it seems as if they could focus a little more on cleanliness.
