Very disappointed. As pictures show everything was dripping with grease and presented with no care at all. Mac & Cheese was greasy and tasted burnt. The hamburger steak was greasy and zero flavor not to mention missing onions & gravy. Entire plate was far from hot. Gravy had solidified.Grilled cheese was greasy and tater tots were soft and greasy, inedible. Salad was delivered well after other food with wrong dressing. Was told after we received entrees that they had to make corn muffins and wouldnt be ready for us to get any. It was 2:00pm.Server was clearly new and we can understand that but the food was just horrible. Manager was slowly walking back and forth from kitchen to host stand and never even looked into dinning room. Nobody ever asked how things were because we would have told them.

VERY DISSAPOINTES!! We had to leave our table cause of your service! We waited 20-min to be seated which wasn’t an issue. Then we sat for 10-min and our waitress walked by us several times, then after another couple was seated next to us they offered them their drinks. Which by this time was about 10-15 min wait and we still didn’t get introduced or offered drinks after we were seated. Sorry your waitress needs to go!! They are the worse!! Please fix this!! Your hostess was nice.

A lot of bang for your buck. The food was ok and the prices were better. Cracker Barrel has good breakfast !! The best part of the restaurant is the novelty store you can shop in while waiting for your table. The rocking chairs out front are relaxing too.

It was a group of 10. It was 5 in the first group, which I was included. They brought the four for the other four. My order was completely wrong. Then the second part of our group ordered. They received their for. Mine still had not be brought out. Had to ask and third time for my food. Finally got it. It was super cold. Maybe a teaspoon of gravy and the mash potatoes had a hard crush. I couldn’t eat it cold. And I was not about to send it back. Everyone else had finished eating or just about finished in the second group. I think the young man was overwhelmed. I still left a $10 top. Which was more than the cost of my dinner. But we never did receive any biscuits. Very disappointing. I don’t think I should have been charged for the meal.

My best friend and I decided to dine in. Guest wore mask upon arrival and inside. while the workers as told by the manager those who were fully vaccinated had a choice to wear or not wear masks and all that I saw didnt have one on. The selection of items on the menu have also changed.you pay more and get less. I will not be going back!!

Would rate ZERO if I could. Tonight I get home and I am so upset with my food. First off I ordered chicken and dumplings. Everyone knows you cook the chicken in with your dumplings. They cooked a marinated chicken breast put it in my container with the grease from the chicken then put my dumplings on top of it. The dumplings looks old the grilled chicken ruins the taste of chicken and dumplings. I tried the newport news location because I have issues every time i order in hampton, so I drove out of my way to come to newport news to get the same garbage. Do yourself a favor save your money and either cook at home or support a local business. These chain restaurants obviously dont care what they serve from their kitchens. Im hangry and disgusted with this establishment.

Wow is all I can say. Your manger is a real tool box. No people skills and lucky my kids were with me. There is a way to talk to people and there is they way u did. Hope to see u around town. Mr ponytail.

It was fine service and food was really good . The grandma and grandpa breakfast were huge and we share it with 3 kids. Grits are meh. But its a palate thing. We order for lunch and it was worth it.

In a time that everywhere is working short staffed, you cant tell here! I watched all the kitchen staff, hostesses, and severs helping each other out and working together! The food was delicious as always, and our server Star was top notch! Thank you Cracker Barrell!

Whats not to love about Cracker Barrel? Good food, nice atmosphere, great service, and a uniquely American flair to the whole thing. Can honestly say that Ive never had a bad experience here and its always a place for a good meal and if youre with the right people some great memories as well.

Normally, Id have good experiences at Cracker barrel, however, tonight was an exception. The basic dining etiquette and greeting were not displayed when my family and I were seated at our table which we waited for 10mins before a server even recognized us. We were seated next to a window and right above us was a vent pumping out cold air making us freezing inside the building, even though it was chilly outside. The heater shouldve been on instead of the air conditioning. Good thing I brought a sweater. Because it was cold this evening, I decided to order up a hot chocolate with no whipped cream. When I got the beverage, the supposedly cream on top distinctively tasted like soap. (We also didnt have straws or napkins, so spitting the suds out was a no-go!) Thankfully, I switched it out for a latte which removed the horrid taste! When we got our food, we had no silverware prepared for us. We waited 5mins for our utensils to arrive after our food was served and then, me and my moms food became cold. We tried flagging down another waiter but no aid was given to us so we waited and waited until our server came back, apologizing profusely. Now, I understand that our server is busy and had other tables to wait, but there should, at least, be some other waiters on standby that couldve helped out. Cracker barrel needs to work on being more efficient with their customers. Tonight wasnt the best of nights...actually it was quite disappointing.

Cracker Barrel is no my favorite restaurant. I say that because Im not a fan of any chains. But their food and service is usually above par. I still wouldve given 5 stars, but there was a huge debacle with our check that kept us from being able to pay and leave for probably about a half hour. Expect a good wait during busy times. Prices there are very fair, usually $15 per person or less with tax and tip. Overall good experience

The food was nasty and not fresh. We was sat and not even 5mins later we had two whole meals a country fried chicken meal and a home style 4 piece chicken meal with two sides. Cornbread was hard as a brick our server was rude and ready to get rid of us as soon as we sat down she asked us how was the food I stated nasty and not hot and she left the check... I wouldnt recommend this place at this moment I feel very sick and only ate my green beans that had a hint of vinegar and a large hard stock nasty... The manager gave us a few cents off our bill and a fresh bag of cornbread

Sat us quickly but I watched 3 other tables get drinks after we were seated. No one came to the table after 30 minutes. My family and I just got up and left. They didn’t even notice…

I still say that Cracker Barrel is one of my favorite places to eat. However, this was my first bad experience. They had to work short that day, so I am hopeful that they can bounce back with adequate staffing. Good Luck!!

Not great. Used to be better. No turkey sausage. French toast not so great but country fried chicken good. Just tasted out of a can. Not terrible but not as good as I expect when eating out.

Great food but very slow service

No matter where one goes. We can always count on the wonderful staff at cracker barrel . To provide excellent service with food and sales. And while its not a big deal the one visited today in Virginia williams burg. One of workers while helpful during our visit. Rushed by bumped dad. I understand being in a hurry I myself work in food service. The point am making is while working do best to be efficient yet polite as possible to customers.

Cracker Barrel has always been a staple visit for me. The kids love the pancakes, the ole lady loves the chicken & dumpling, and I love the old fashioned big boy breakfast. There is something for everyone. The items in the store are collectibles and often cant be going anywhere else. The service is nice and the atmosphere is comfortable. Go visit if you havent and go back if you have.

Patience was needed as all places seem to need more workers. But the food was great.

Worst CB I’ve ever been. A lot to explain but no go

The service was adequate for a busy breakfast period and a large, 9-person group. The bacon was crispy and the biscuits were tender and warm enough to melt the butter. My star holdout is about the sausage gravy. It didnt compare favorably to Bob Evans sausage gravy. I had to add ¼ t salt and ⅛ t pepper to it. More sausage crumbles in it would have helped too.

This location has to be one of the worst managed Cracker Barrels in the country.The latest aggravation is wait time for a table. Its beyond frustrating to go to a restaurant, see more than half the tables in the dining area empty, then be told the wait time for a table will be 40+ minutes (last Saturday around 7:45am) and this week 20+ minutes maybe at 7:55am.Theres no chance Im going to wait for mediocre food for that long, especially seeing more than half the tables are empty.They say its due to staffing shortages..... well..... STAFF YOUR RESTAURANT!!COVID Is a lame excuse at this point, this is our new normal, adapt or quit.I will try once more another day, if it happens again, I wont be back... ever.Im sure others feel the same.

Totally unprofessional disrespectful service. We arrived at 8:40pm. Clerk said hed get a host. Stood there for almost ten minutes, only to be informed that a server wasnt available for us to dine-in, and that we could only place a to go order. Several other diners were sitting at tables. Restaurant clearly posts it doesnt close until 9pm. Not a way to run a business. Well never be back! Shame on Cracker Barrel for turning away paying customers before closing time.

To say the least I’m VERY disappointed with Our order yesterday. My wife, kids and myself usually order at least twice a week but yesterday was very unacceptable. The macaroni and cheese was very watery and cold in the middle as well as the mashed potatoes. We usually have nothing ever bad to say about the meatloaf but today it look like different pieces were just thrown on the plate like the pieces that people didn’t eat from earlier that day and there was a very hard black outer coating on it. We also ask for the burger to be well done took a bite out of it let’s just say it was almost moo-ing at us. We also had our greens in the sink and there was only literally five pieces of baked apples in our side dish. We tried to call the restaurant to speak to somebody about it just so we could get a new order since it hadn’t been that long since we had left maybe 20 minutes tops or put on hold for over 10 minutes so we just hung up I hope this situation could be corrected because we love coming here

Had a church function here. The staff was OUTSTANDING! They made sure we were taken care of, continually coming around to ensure that whatever we needed was provided. Had a great time and the food was good.

This is definitely my Go-To place when it comes to breakfast. The wait is never too bad and the food is always amazing. And one important factor for this Destination is the staff. The employees do a fantastic job every time I visit. Even when I want specific items, they always figure a plan to satisfy my needs and then some. I always tell family, friends, and all other people if they want breakfast, lunch. Or dinner and they have time to spare to definitely check out Cracker Barrel. Plus they have a variety of unique and interesting items in their gift shop.

Food was great. Working on the road like I’ve been it is nice to be able to go out and get a full and hardy meal. Meat, salad, veggies and mac n’ cheese... 🥰 You won’t leave here hungry...

Not bad, but disappointing overall. Had a very long wait to be seated, waited a long time for drinks and my food was not prepared correctly. Had to grab the server from a neighboring table and have them send our server to us. Ultimately wish we had gone elsewhere.

Shana our server was very courteous and professional. The food as always is good. Her attentiveness was very timely if we ever come back we will be sure to ask for her section in the back, thank you Shana and Cracker Barrel, shes a keeper.

Its a shame how downhill this place has run. I remember when you could get nice service. This review isnt necessarily based on one visit but the most recent pushed me to the edge. It wasnt that crowded of a night however they managed to sit everyone on top of each other. We had to ask a table near us to scoot theirs over so we could even sit down. The tea which was supposed to be sweet wasnt. No ice for fresh made tea (still not very sweet or to how it typically is) We had to ask a couple times for the biscuits we ordered and then an additional time for jelly. Had to keep asking for refills for the entire table even though everyone was obviously empty. Food order came out wrong. For some reason a sandwich that doesnt even come with cheese had two different types of cheese on it?! A whole person and a half was tending to everyone...and even then it shouldnt have been that hard. I just dont get what manager sits back and thinks, this is perfectly the way its supposed to be. Never even saw the manager at that....if they were under-staffed then they should have been out helping. Completely disappointed in the way this restaurant has been performing lately and unfortunately I think we have given them enough chances. If youre on the interstate traveling keep on going, these places are a dime a dozen and Im sure you will get better service at another one.

I ordered a curbside pickup order, the site stated the meal would be ready in 15 minutes (which is a great wait time). I promptly drove to the resturant and parked in the curbside pickup area. I checked in through the email I received which stated they would bring my order out soon. I waited in the parking lot for 25 minutes and I had arrived when my food was supposed to be ready. I went into the store and walked up to the hostess desk to see where my meal was. After waiting another 5 minutes I was told that another clerk (who was standing around chatting to a waitress about their apron) could assist me, they brought me over to a cart where my meal was sitting, likely since it was scheduled to be ready. No where was I informed that I had to go inside to receive my curbside pickup order (especially when there are literal parking spots specifically for curbside pickup) obviously, as you can imagine, my food was cold. I was also annoyed to find that my food was missing the toppings requested. I was so agitated and hangry at this point that I didnt want to deal with any of the staff there, because honestly with how annoyed I was they wouldve gotten quite a bit of attitude and rudeness from me, which I dont believe anyone deserves, plus they were all kind to me when serving me. Instead I drove to Kroger to buy and pick up the toppings I had requested on my meal. Went home had to microwave and prepare my meal nearly an hour and a half after ordering my meal. It was delicious by the way, and I do really love Cracker Barrel, however I will never pickup food from here again.Just remember apparently curbside pickup doesnt actually mean curbside pickup.

Great food for reasonable price Friendly staff

Despite the bad rap that cracker barrel usually gets. The service is wonderful and the food is delicious. Unlike most resteraunts the food here is filling as well. It tastes homemade, fresh, and of course delicious. The atmosphere is fun with plenty to do. So even at its peak rush there is always something to do like peruse the store, or play a game like checkers or the peg game. I would definitely recommend.

We have recently found Cracker Barrel again. Normally its so horribly crowded we never want to wait but i guess with COVID & folks not traveling its been great!! Easy to get in, still outstanding food, coffee, service & weve even had time to pick up some fun items in the general store. Plenty of social distancing.

The food was great, but our waitress (Star) was AMAZING. Our family is visiting from Chicago, our daughter is in the Navy. We ALWAYS go to a Cracker Barrel when we are on vacation, love the food. Star made our day, she was very polite and always stopping by to provide refills and get us anything we needed, which was a task as we had 8 people in our party. I would definitely recommend eating at this Cracker Barrel.

Newport News, VAGiving 2 stars because the food was ok & the servers were great.However, I asked the cashier a question & she couldnt be bothered. She acted as if I was bothering her???Then I went to the ladies room & I have to use the handicapped stall. I nearly threw up my lunch. It was the nastiest bathroom Ive EVER seen. As politely AND quietly as I could, I mentioned to the same woman, unfortunately, that it was horrible. She shrugged her shoulders & said ok? She didnt care. She also forgot to ring up my gift for someone & it wasnt in the bag. If it had been in the bag, I would have stopped by & paid for it when we left Newport News the next day.Well be traveling again this year to NN & will NOT be stopping there!!!

I am not crazy about Cracker Barrel because I find the food to be too heavy and greasy. I got eggs and hash browns (very greasy) and my husband got pancakes. He said pancakes were good. The staff was very friendly and courteous.

You cant go wrong choosing Cracker Barrel. We stopped at the Newport News store for lunch. We had a 15 minute wait which was understandable due to the limited seating because of Covid protocols. The food was excellent and the service was attentive.

The food is always consistent! I ALWAYS get pecan pancakes and they never disappoint and I can always grab some old time fave snacks and cute gifts.

My breakfast was delicious, I absolutely love this place, I did some shopping while waiting to be call for a seat.

First of all the five stars are for the wonderful ladies in the STORE section of the restaurant. They are so sweet and friendly, they make my visit there AWESOME 👍. So I walked in and approached the HOSTESS a tiny lady, her customer service skills were as TINY as she was. She didnt acknowledge my husband or myself, she didnt even look up at us. She just shuffled menus while we stood there as if we were invisible. She finally looks up grabs 2 menu and still doesnt even acknowledge us. The waiter was extremely nice he took our order and returned with our drinks, very courteous & respectful. Now for the food part, my husband ordered pork chops mashed potatoes and gravy it was good. I ordered meatloaf and macaroni and cheese and hash brown casserole. Unfortunately it wasnt good. The food was cold, I didnt send it back in fear of it being tampered with, we live in a ugly world and I didnt want to take a risk. So with that being said, if I return I will order something that has to be cooked up like fried chicken. I hope this helps everyone.

If I could give it 0 I would. Found hair in my food and waitress just looks at me and asks if I want a remake. No apology no visit by the manager even though she took the plate straight to him. Then when I told them I lost my appetite they bring out French toast? Just randomly drops it by the table...I didn’t even order French toast. I had pancakes to start with.

Visiting from Atlanta and I must say I’m extremely disappointed in the service here. It’s Friday after noon and it’s taken 40 minutes for seating. After seating it has taken another 30 minutes for anyone to approach our table of 13. 😢 The food was Luke warm, but the mimosas served a good purpose.

Breakfast was good. Waitstaff was needed some attention.Had to keep asking a waitress for what I needed, even a coffee refill(1) and she seemed annoyed because she wasnt my waitress. I ended up apologizing for bothering her. She said it was okay, but you could feel the vibe.Lately, my comments have not been positive. I think that I need a new breakfast spot.

Visited on 11/19/20Arrived earlier than expected for curbside. Checked in through email and called curbside number. Shortly after my set time for pickup. A waitress came out to speak with me. Asking if anyone has come to talk with me about my order.After informing her that no one has. A shocked look came to her eyes. She explains the situation of being out of what I ordered.When I asked her what else was available. She started off with a really good knowledge of the menu.Wish I could have gotten her name. Makes it easier when giving props to employees. Because she clearly should be promoted or given a raise.Because the manager should have given me the bad news.Not a hostess or waitress.

Unfortunately was told that the line cook did not arrive the day we visited, so we had to look for an alternative place to eat. Even though the restaurant was empty for breakfast, we would have needed to wait 30 minutes to be seated.
