This is my favorite place to buy meat in Newport. They have the widest selection of meat in their case including Goat most of the time. The produce is fresh & well stocked. The Deli is a good place to grab something quick if youre running short of time. The folks behind the counter are accommodating to your needs. Store and Parking Lot are Clean and easy get on and off Highway 101. The Best Thing Is They are Locally Owned So Your Money Stays In Lincoln County.

2 stars because this is the best (non butcher) store to buy raw meat, and their produce department has an incredible selection. However, their hot deli has so many Oregon health department violations that Im afraid to buy anything at the store aside from canned food. When I spoke with an employee, and then a manager, I was told I was lying. Folks, I can pull up the food code on my phone. Try training your people before blaming customers.

Thriftway in Newport OR is awesome! They always have block ice in stock. They even have a postal service.

The deli chicken tenders! Wow!We were just passing through and needed a place to grab food with a parking lot big enough for our truck and toy hauler. We grabbed some chicken tenders and jojos from the deli. I think they were the best chicken tenders Ive had in my life. (Also awesome honey mustard). Super friendly woman working in the deli too. Nice stop!!

Was at your store last week and was very impressed with the way your clerk handled my groceries.First she had a face mask on and gloves!Second she had wiped down the counter and conveyor!I truly appreciate her efforts! A great place for quick shopping, large shopping and even breakfast/lunch/dinner meals from the Deli! The employees are always hospitable and considerate of our needs as shoppers. I have personally worked with the owner/manager of the store, and he and his wife are a great role model for their employees, and it shows! A nice little spot in Newport right across from Shell gas station!

Didnt know Thriftway stores were still around, our clerk told us the few left were independently owned and operated.It was also a pleasant surprise to see theyre open 24 hours... Rare in this day and age for a larger grocery store.Found what we needed and enjoyed our short chat with the clerk.

I stopped in here for a quick shopping trip and was able to find everything I needed. Frozen food, produce, canned, bakery and everything else you may be looking for. Prices are high, employees are slow as f... clean and has a post office annex. Good location but absolutely do all that I can not to go there due to service and lack food selection.

Actually found some things here that I couldnt get at Safeway or Fred Meyer. The produce was great and it was a much easier shopping experience because the store is smaller. Plus the employees were good humored and friendly. I will be back.

I was in jc newport were I witnessed a cashier being rude to an elderly man the man was confused about the plastic paper option for his groces the casher was wevry short and rude to him almost pushing him out the door with her words times like this we all need to have more compassion for are elders these are confusing times

JC is kinda the life blood of Newport and Toledo ! they were here before all the big boys and have loyal customers from the old days. some of their stuff might be a bit pricey but at least they have it and its always a good quality.

Why bring a bunch of food with you to the coast when you can stop here. Absolutely love the pepperoni and beer dogs. Wonderful seafood and great wine selection. The doughnuts are really good too. All the staff are helpful and friendly.

Very helpful. Gave us helpful information on use of dry ice and how to keep the fresh tuna we got good until we get home.

Pretty decent selection, they carry the basic stuff anyways (if youre looking for some exotic Asian spice better go somewhere else). They always seems to have markdowns on meats and produce which is awesome for me--I buy this at a discount and cook it that very night which saves me $$ :) They have a walk in beer cooler with a decent beer selection--most of them local beers. And theyre open 24 hours.

The employees were super helpful. They will walk your groceries out to the car for you and put them in. Most chain stores will do this if asked but here they are set to do so for every customer that comes in. The feel of the place is small town local mart where all the employees know your name.

The deli lady was rude and a witch with a b... I left before finishing the sandwich form witch was hurled at me for dareing to ask her to make me some food... I for one will not spend one cent at that store until that mean old woman is no longer working there!!!

This Thriftway is clean, offers a variety of gluten free items, and my husbands favorite beer, Kaliber, which is next to impossible to get in the Portland metro area. Pricing is very reasonable too. Will mark this place a a store to come back to.

I love this store! If youre looking for specialty fruits and veggies they have them, and theyre ripe.

JCs is a locally owned market for all the basic food needs, especially the meat and produce sections. The store is very clean and well stocked. The staff are friendly and helpful. The real high light is the in-house smoker and wonderful smoked meat, chicken and fish.

Always plesent, not too terribly expensive either.

Great Hometown Market, takes you back in time like old times, good customer service. Cashier Paris always has a cheerful disposition😇,& the deli guy makes my day with delicious samples.Just a hop skip and jump off Hwy 20 on the Business loop.

I go here instead of Walmart because its closer, has most everything I need and less crowded and staff are friendly.

UPDATE: There is no longer a can and bottle return here; you have to go to Bottle Drop right across the street and up Highway 20 just a bit, on the right.I think its great that theyre open 24 hours, and they do have a great beer and wine selection, but everything is pricey. Even the soda fountain is pricey.They dont seem to do anything about the transients milling about, even when one was cussing up a storm one morning. Rather disappointing. I prefer not to breathe smoke while walking in from employees and other, but thats just me.They do have some tasty treats in the bakery, but the deli is average. I can always look forward to going in and hearing the gals talk bad about one another, in full earshot of the customers. Safeway has much better jojos.

Great market, reasonable prices for the coast. One of the best wine selections youll find. Some are expensive $$$$$, BUT, good selections, price ranges and always some deals.

I have to say my favorite part of shopping at JC Market Thriftway has to be Will the butcher. He is always quick to answer any questions, point out the great specials, and help you find the best of what you are looking for. I also really love the carrot cake cupcakes in the bakery.

Very expxensive with little selection. This store was way better at one time. I have lived in the area about 8 years and i have seen it get worse. Very lethargic cashiers that dont even speak to you and just bag your food like zombies.

I went & ordered a deli sandwich today, and they make you fill out a little paper and mark everything you want on it & exactly how you want it made.. Soo not ONLY did I tell him exactly how I wanted it on the paper, but I even told him to his FACE how I wanted it made & what stuff goes on the right half! When I opened the sandwich bag & looked through my sandwich, half was litterly DRENCHED in horseradish.. like there was so much on there that within 5min the bread was already extremely soggy 😖 Plus there was absolutely NO cheese on either half!! This deli USED to be my go-to for sandwiches, but in the last 2 years, they have slowly gotten crappier and less thoughtful when making fresh deli sandwiches!! This was just the last straw for me! Annoying!(And hell yeah, Im this upset over horseradish & cheese! They are expensive sandwiches!!)

We stop here for wine, snacks and smoked salmon. They smoke their own meats and seafood... And while I cant tell you about most of it, I can say the salmon is excellent!

I live in Depoe Bay. JC THRIFTWAY is my go to store when I cant find something I need anywhere else. It has WONDERFUL produce, top notch meats (not to mention a great meat/seafood staff wholl go above and beyond to get you what you need), and friendly cashiers. I find I shop there more and more, while shopping other large chain stores less and less.

The clerks are always very nice and courteous. The bakery department is great.
