We were traveling south when we ended up with a flat tire. We started at Walmart but when they were closed, we called car-x. All the guys here were amazing! They helped us get the flat and brought it in. They told us exactly what was wrong with it and then looked at the other 3 tires. After deciding we needed new tires, they let us know they couldnt get our tires needed in until the following morning (we were 2 hours away from home). When we mentioned it wasnt an option, they got out their phones and called locally until they found another shop that had our tires in stock. I was so impressed and thankful that they took the time to help us out! Thank you to all the staff at Car-X! You guys were such a help to us! x

Could not perform diagnostics properly and gave improper or half problem area and when I picked up vehicle I realized the new problem appeared or underlining minor problem worsened. And I still think if they would have thoroughly investigated the problems, I could have had different opinion about services they performed was necessary or just performed because they had to do..... every chest pain should not undergo heart transplant .....

I purchased the exact same tires at farm n fleet for $250 cheaper due to this places high installation fees. Pretty simple. Don’t get tires here.

I absolutely detest this auto shop and would encourage you to watch a YouTube video and try the labor yourself before spending your money here. They made me feel Unvalued as a customer, they kept reiterating they had other things to do mind you there were about 10-12 workers present and only myself and one lady who was there for a key and another gentleman for brakes the lady had been there since 8 am and I walked in at 10. On top of the rude customer service they take it upon themselves to add products to your total, so if you’re a woman whose not that literate about cars beware of this place or bring someone more knowledgeable with you because they will take advantage of your wallet

Had a problem with my window fell into my door panel, Mitsubishi couldnt fix it so I took it to CarX. They fixed the problem immediately due to the fact that it was about to rain. Another Situation happened when my car broke down and had it towed to CarX. I had found out it was the alternator, the problem got fixed immediately and I was back on the road immediately. I brought my vehicle in for a diagnostic and I must say Sean (I hope thats how he spells his name) was so professional. He explained everything to me in detail and didnt pressure me into anything. Theres truly not enough words to express his level of customer service. I will definitely be a returning customer and I will definitely recommend people looking for honest and excellent service.

I went in for an oil change and they told me I needed a new oil gasket and oil pan, for $468, or else I could be driving down the road and all the oil could come out of the vehicle. Then I brought it to a reputable repair shop and confirmed there was only a very small leak, and there would never be a chance of all the oil coming out of the vehicle for this issue. I accept their advice to just check the oil level every so often and save a large repair bill. I would not trust what Car-X Towanda tells you is wrong with your car when you bring it in for an oil change.

I went in for something super easy, or so I thought. The manager Sean was not helpful at all and seemed to not care about what I was telling him. Alec ended up helping me and it was fine. Dont expect me to come back though, rudeness and laziness gets you no where.

I have gotten 3 cars serviced here (2 older vehicles In the past and now i have a newer one). Since i moved to normal, these guys can’t be compared to any other shop in town.I know nothing about cars and i feel like as a lady they take the time to explain to me what i need without me feeling like I’m paying more than i need to or getting work done i don’t need.Recently, i needed an oil change and i knew something was wrong with my tire. As soon as i pulled in the mechanic confirmed what i was worried about before i even said what i needed.They know there stuff and completely put my mind at ease by actually showing me what traction was on each of my tires and answering all of my questions patiently.No matter who i speak with they have absolutely great customer service. Although i wasn’t prepared to get done what i did, they worked with me by giving 3 different options of what i could do. They do all kinds of services from a quick oil change to brakes and more extensive work. Thanks for always making me feel like my vehicle is in good hands.

Very honest and open about the repairs. My Ford Expedition came in for exhaust repair and the manager Sean told me about very urgent concerns; Safety concerns that could have lead to more serious problems. I was so impressed with the price and the honesty. Ill never use another shop EVER. BEST SHOP EVER !

Took my vehicle in for a wheel alignment because it was showing the classic signs with vibration and shaking at high speeds. I was berated and told that wasnt the issue. Then I was told that my serpentine belt, my sway bar links, my air filter need to be replaced and my wheels need to be balanced for a total of around $500. When I declined certain services, the guy continued to pressure me into getting these services by telling me that my car will break down and that I will be stranded if I didnt get it done. After the repairs were completed, my car is shaking even worse than it was before.

Guys are helpfull and know what there doing have never tried to over sell me anything. Trust my car and my daughters with them. Shawn your the man !

Fantastic place! The only place in town that I will ever go due to fact of their honesty. They are the one place that says that if something doesnt need to be done, they will tell you rather than have you fork out money for nothing. I told them that I expect a thousand dollar repair and they came back with saying it was just a sensor and a tenth of the cost I was expecting and willing to pay, and this isnt the first time. Super friendly staff that cares about their customers more than the money and that is RARE!

I was in in September to get my oil changed, as is usual they also checked the rest of the fluids in my 2016 Ford Escape. Did not realize until January 17, 2020 that i was missing my cap from the radiator case. Took it back and the young men that were there found it and pit it back on. In the mean time they found that since it was 4 months without a cap i had air in my lines, they bled my lines and fixed it at no cost to me. That is what i call great customer service!

I’ve been coming to this Car-X location for over a decade, and while faces may change, the quality does not.As someone that’s not very educated car-wise, it’s great to come to a place that you can trust to give you honest information and facts about your car without worrying about being taken advantage of; I would not keep coming back time after time if that was the case.Today I had an oil change and tire rotation, standard six thousand mile service. While it took a little longer than normal (about 90 minutes instead of the 60-75 I was expecting), the technicians were up front with me about the wait time and the cars ahead of me; I knew about the wait from the start.The technician was even able to shuffle the cars around to get me in a little sooner, which was awesome.Overall: I highly recommend Car-X. They’ve always been friendly and honest, and they know what they’re doing.

Great experience on a rainy day, very professional.

I was moving my son out of a dorm room into another one. In the midst of moving my engine light came on and my vehicle stalled on me. The vehicle needed to be serviced ASAP. Not being from the area I googled car repair shops & found this Car-x center that was actually open. When I arrived with my vehicle not willing to stay running I spoke to Seth Kinder, the store manager. He was extremely busy and it was at the end of the day. Told him my problem & he was able to tell me the problem with a diagnostic test. It was a ignition coil. The problem was their mechanic was very busy and they were to close within the hour. I told Seth my situation and I was 2 hours away from home & still had to finish moving my son. Seth went out of his way to accommodate me. I wanted to hug this man. I had actually cried when the engine light went on. I was beyond stressed. Seth was kind & truly honest. He wasn’t there to sell me something I didn’t need like most car shops. He was able to squeeze me and have the repair done so that I could make it home. I wish the car shop was in my neighborhood because they would be my shop. I can’t thank him enough and his staff for making my day. There was also another employee (don’t remember his name) he worked in the oil change area, he also deserves recognition. Very friendly & down to earth!! I don’t normally write reviews but I had to on this one. Thank you Seth!!!!You were able to get me home!!!!!

I needed new front brakes and front tires. Scott and his team took time to explain and show me why the tires and brakes needed to be replaced. They were quick to get me in and offered me a courtesy ride so that I didn’t have to wait in the waiting room. Excellent service. Got my brakes done there and had my engine looked at. Nothing wrong with the engine and the diagnostic was free of charge. These guys are great. Definitely recommend.

We needed to replace a dead battery. Car-X was able to get us in, test and replace the battery promptly. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Went in for routine oil change. The staff knew what to do based upon make and model. I was out within a half hour. They let me know I got a free tire rotation which made for today, and again was done within a half hour. Kudos to the staff on a great customer experience.

We were three hours into a nine hour road trip when the transmission died on my car. Not knowing who to call, I googled auto repair shops and stumbled upon this one. I called and they said they would look at my car as soon as I could get it towed there. The only problem was we had our 70 lb dog with us. When we arrived we were greeted by Seth, the manager, who said to bring our dog in. He looked at our car and verified that the transmission was shot. He immediately called a car rental company for us and started calling places to find out who would give us the best price on parts. Not only did he get us a good deal, he let us sit in the waiting area, with our dog, for three hours until our rental was ready. I want to express how grateful we are that we found someone to help us when we needed it most. If we are ever in Normal again we will definitely stop by!

Theyre trustworthy and have never tried to sell me anything I didnt actually need, nor have they ever treated me as though Im ignorant because Im a woman - unlike every other mechanic Ive used.The Car-X in Normal on Towanda Ave has always provided exceptional, quality work at reasonable prices. They go above and beyond to make sure that I leave satisfied, whether its an oil change, detail or $1,400 computer component....I know Im receiving the best service at reasonable prices.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAR-X to anyone who has work needed done on their vehicles.

So I went to the Car-x in Normal on Wednesday this week for an oil change. Everybody there was great! Kris, Mikah, and Jason did a wonderful job! They were all very friendly and helpful. They got me in and done as fast as possible. I definitely recommend going here for any scheduled maintenance.

Had some work done today on my 2011 Dodge Journey. Seth is very helpful and the work was completed on time as promised and as quoted pricewise. I have found in most cases, their work is less expensive than having the dealership fix it. In the limited cases where the dealership is cheaper, Seth has always agreed to do the work for the same price. I would recommend Car-X if you are needing any type of car repair.

I was a regular customer to this place until now.I gave my car to check for some issue and they didnt even respond until I checked on them. After one day when I called them about the status they were really rude in the way they talked and didnt finish the job. They just took my money without doing anything. I am getting my car fixed from some other place. Will not recommend to anyone.

This place is incompetent and dangerous! I can prove it in a court of law, and, they still have my car for repairs! Might be shooting myself in the foot, but, I am right! My fault for trusting them one last time! Over 100 hours before Ill get it back (hopefully) and the day I was told it would be done I did not receive a single call on the progress. I had to initiate 3! No excuses will be acknowledged by me! Fix what we agreed on, do it right, and yall will never see or hear from me again!

I went there because Ive been getting Car-X oil changes next door for ten years. Their service has always been very good. Id go back for any other repairs!

Recently had an issue with my 2012 Mazda CX9 with a heat shield hanging down and making a loud noise. Even though I did not have an appointment, Car-X got me right in and suggested that I just remove the shield because the rivets were gone and it would cost a lot to repair at the dealer. It took them a little longer than expected to remove the shield and when I was ready to pay, the manager or assistant manager indicated there would be no charge! I have been a pretty regular customer of Car-X over the years, but this service was above and beyond expectations. I will continue to take my cars to Car-X and I highly recommend them to others.

I have my oil changed at CAR-X whenever it need to be done. They are prompt and courteous. They are not pushy, but do recommend special services that sometimes I get and sometimes I dont. I will continue to go back to them for professional service

Took my car into the lube center to get my oil changed and was met by a guy named William, very nice kid. I have never been here before and he (william) let me know about all the thing they do here. Was check in and out buy a man named Kris seemed very well trained in the know how of cars. They let me know my brakes were going bad and a check engine lights was on and gave me the option to get them done at an AFFORDABLE PRICE. Ive been coming to CarX for the last 3 years and have always received service beyond satisfaction. Seth, Scott, and his crew always took great care of me, but unfortunately since his departure from this location, Ive seen what appears to be a full turnover of staff, stingyness on any coupon or sale (including their oil change punch card), and lack of trust when having service done on my car.In my last few visits, they have left oil all on the inside of my car and door, and most recently informed me I had needed a new fuel filter and cabin filter. They showed me both, and how dirty both were and in need of replacement, which I appreciated. They then told me they would look for a quote to let me know how much itd be to replace. While I was waiting, I did my own quote check (even if I dont know much about cars, I know to price check when I can). They quoted me $50 for a new cabin filter, which I found for $15 at the local Orielys auto shop. Needless to say I declined their cabin filter, which I found they hadnt even shook out for me after I declined their service.Point being, this used to be an auto shop I felt I could trust for minor oil changes to larger repairs, with service that was beyond expectations. Without Seth, and the new way of business thats implemented, Ill be going elsewhere moving forward.
