Great quality and variety of fresh fruit. Desserts are best around as well and they make a a big variety of that there too.

They keep their stores more up to par than any other grocery stores in the area.Maybe the prices are a tad higher than others but for the work and courtesy they give us its well worth it

Store appearance wasn’t the best, normally have a pleasant experience here today no so much employees didn’t give a warm welcome just felt like I was bothering them..when asking for help.

Employees greet you at the door offering disinfectant wipes for carts, theyll even wipe it for you and offering hand sanitizer. Employees walk around constantly cleaning surfaces. Most employees are pleasant and helpful.

Currently I have been shopping at big Y and I have found it always very clean, pricing might be a little high in some departments. The quality of their meats vegetables and bakery are unbelievable. I have to say I have never had an issue when I shopped at big Y. I just wish that there was a closer big Y near me.I travel about 20 minutes to go to my local big Y so you can tell that I really do think it very highly of the supermarket chain

The North Branford Big Y is the best grocery store around! Well managed, good products, and an excellent attitude among employees. They are obviously encouraged to be helpful and they are. Very!OK, the fish has been so-so a couple of times, but most of the time its great.

Could have better customer service

Put in an order for a cheese pizza, showed up 10 mins after they said it would be ready when I got there the guy on the phone hadn’t written down the order and it was never started and the woman didn’t even notice I was waiting at the counter for a few minutes 👌🏽

They have a good variety the pricing is a little high but I love their Bakery!

Very disappointed that Big Y has taken out so many registers and put in so many self check out registers. So on top of their prices sky rocketing, we now have to do the cashiers job? Rediculos.

Saw someone accidentally open the emergency exit and an employee blasted them on the sales floor out loud telling everyone that now the customer has to do the walk of shame. So unprofessional. The fact that I saw her say that out loud, I’m never going back again if that’s how they treat their customers. Gross.

3 stars is all I could do. As a disabled person that must rely on using a motorized shopping cart I find the displays in the middle of the aisles somewhat cumbersome to get around without hitting them. Produce is great but the bag dispensers are always blocked by a display. Also seems to be some price gouging on the eggs, I mean really almost $5.00 for a dozen eggs. Then theres Donna Rose. Heaven forbid if this person said hello. I have been through her aisle on 3 separate occasions and she is friendly if she knows the customer but if she doesnt know you not a word out of her mouth. Not even a have a nice day. Or perhaps she doesnt like disabled people. So now I just avoid her. I cant be bothered with unfriendly people .

Its a big beautiful store with lots of everything. The one fault are the aisle signs. They are way to hard to read, need text that contrasts with the background.

I went to Big Y last night. Yes, it was busy but everyone was very pleasant. New lines were opened when needed, the cashier was great.The woman at the deli counter was on her own with a long line but she was moving as quick as possible and was pleasant to everyone. People were waiting their turn and talking with each other. It makes a tough situation so much easier.

Had everything I was looking for. Some prices were higher than my usual grocery store that I shop at. But other sales made up for it.

Sam the butcher department has the best meats the fish department is first class and all the employees are extremely helpful they go out of their way to help me find what Im looking for

Corey in the bakery department went above and beyond for me. I ordered a unicorn cake that just wasn’t what I was expecting and she offered to make me a new one! She whipped up the most beautiful unicorn cake and 15 minutes for me!! Thanks Corey!!

I bought a quarter sheet of cake for a birthday party. Vanilla cake, real whipped cream and I think she called it Italian filling. It was Bavarian cream with strawberries and peaches. It was one if the best cakes. Everyone loved it. I would recommend it and will buy it again if ever I need something special.

Clean, spacious store, well stocked. Pleasant and helpful employees. Bakery is well laid out, nice offerings. Local orchard pies. Nice deli, great potato salad. My boyfriend loves the roast beef grinders they make for him there. I would rather shop here than Stop & Shop or ShopRite; its just a nicer, more spread-out store. You are not crowded here! I have been to the North Branford store, the Naugatuck store, and the Branford store (smaller than the other two, no Pharmacy). One of these days Ill try the one in Derby at the Derby/Orange line.

They are so amazing in this big Y they saved my dinner today. The young kid at the register forgot to bag my meat. I called the store since my car is in the shop I didnt have a way to get back there to pick it up. The manager herself brought it to me. Talk about amazing customer service. This is why I would spend the extra money and shop at big y only. Thank you BIG Y.

Great place! Nice, open atmosphere. All the employees Ive interacted with have been helpful and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Ive never experienced more than a five minute wait in line for checkout, which is pretty nice as well. Great selection, especially for fruits and vegetables.

Our cake was not as ordered. When we got home to celebrate our occasion we noticed cake was dried up and stale and not only not as ordered but the frosting was hard and crumbled into pieces. I called and asked to speak with bakery manager was told not available so I asked to speak to store manager. I spoke with a women claiming to be store manager. She had horrible attitude and actually started to argue with me. Really big y. You give us wrong cake and its stale and and hard and your employee who claimed to be manager tried to tell me I had to wait for a refund. Only after going back and forth did she agree to give us refund. At that point I decided it wasnt worth it so we threw out cake and bye bye big y after countless cakes ordered from you you will never receive our families business again. People check the freshness of your food carefully from this place .

I always find Big Y prices are slightly higher than most stores in the area. The only reason I go here is for the convenience of not having to drive to Stop and Shop in Branford.The staff is pleasant and management is helpful.

I have been a faithful customer of Big Y for 25 years, driving farther to shop there because I wanted to support a American owned business that sells local produce.This is no longer the case. I had my mirror scratched by a store employee moving carts last weekend. The store employees were nice, but the manager who called to respond to me was condescending and rude. He said someone else had a similar problem and told him it was no big deal because he already had 55 scratches on his car. He said I had until Thursday to call him back with how I wanted to pursue this. I am not calling back I am not going to have someone talk to me like I am in the wrong. I am also not going back to Big Y. Horrible customer service by someone who is the leader.

Store was large! Way bigger than the Big Y Im used to here in Old Saybrook. I am a little upset because I purchased a blueberry Lyman Orchards pie. It was impossible to cut an even piece; for $10.00 it was embarrassing because it was as hard as a rock and Ive never ever had a bad pie from Lymans. Not sure what happened. but, annoyed.

Great grocery store. Theres brands and items here youll not find at the other chains. This particular location is pretty expensive however. Always buy on sale. Their on-sale prices are the same or more than what youd pay normally at ShopRite for example. But theres those hard to find brands. You just have to go to a boutique market to find them. The bakery here is excellent. The produce is top quality. Worth going out of your way for.

I would only go for meats as prices are ridiculously expensive. Really need to know prices before shopping. Example: store brand sandwich bread at other chains are at 1.00 where as as Big Y it was 3.69. Prices are simply to high. Clean store helpful employees but not budget friendly

Wont shop anywhere else!

No one smiles, no one asked if we needed assistance, (except the butcher) thanks. No greeting at cashier checkout. No extra carts near by so one doesnt crush veggies per say. Bagged own groceries as fast as possible as cashier seemingly thought it was funny with the conveyor belt speed. Unwelcoming/ unappreciative attitudes. Sad. Especially after spending at least 2 grand a month for decades here and in Wallingford. I had to thank cashier twice (for no reason) to see if she would speak on way out. Bye the response. Great food, good variety. I hope this helps with training. Dont feel welcomed.

Great store. The meat department is unparalleled. The bakery is huge and has everything imaginable. The produce must be really fresh because it always lasts longer than stuff purchased elsewhere.

Soup and salad bar is awesome here along with all the fresh cooked foods.

The staff is extremely helpful. The selections are huge. Quality of meats and fish depts are very good. If i cant find something someone takes you to it. The prices are in line with other big grocery stores in area, but they have a very good reward program to lower the prices.

The bakery didn’t close the box for my cake the I ordered and I almost lost the whole cake in the parking lot and the cake didn’t come out how I asked for it.

No boars head meat and an attitude about not liking their slimy grey deli options (at guilford, still get only 2 big y off brand brands in the deli here what is their angle??)I try to avoid this place. Why cant I type a card number to self check!? High security! Is this the airport? If I dont want bags, even if I do not have bags TRUST ME I am all set. They put a paid sticker on individual items of produce last time!? All over the exit is littered with orange paid stickers and it looks like garbage because it is garbage... World Class Garbage Confetti© to go with all those coins that annoyed all of us for over a decade and now are less valuable than chuck e cheese coins.

Its a decent big y for necessities. The counters (meat, seafood, deli) are ok... you could probably do better closer to the shore or up the road at Roberts.

Nice store but front end supervisor actually accuse customers of moving pricing on shelves when stockers put in wrong place. She coached associate refering to customers as they move price tags to get free item.
