This place is hands down the best shop in Illinois! I dont just say that because weve been there repeatedly. I mean it! My husband and I love Chad! At this point we are going to start inviting him to family gatherings hes inked us that much. Hes amazing and not only him but the whole staff there are talented as heck! You honestly cant go wrong with whoever you book with. Krista is a great piercer too! Again the whole staff is just so friendly and the shops atmosphere is really unbeatable. They make you feel so at home while youre there. I have recommended this place every time I can and my husband and I always get compliments on the work weve gotten done. You wont be disappointed!
Oh my god, this was a fantastic experience. I got my septum pierced by Krista and she was so friendly and the shop is very military friendly. She made sure I was able to hide my piercing before I left the shop too! The piercing was gentle, quick and I barely felt any pain. I recommend 10/10!!! So happy I decided to come here to get it done
This place was super dope! Me and my friend both just walked in and immediately got helped. Chad gave us awesome tattoos was super patient and funny, making our experience really comfortable. Came in as a walk-in and Ed was my tattoo artist. He was very professional and gave good advice on the design and placement of my tattoos. The environment was very clean and neat. He works very fast and was able to have both of my tattoos done in 1 hour!! Will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others!! Great experience!

Krista is the absolute BEST piercer in Lake County. She makes you comfortable and feel welcomed. I told her I would forever be known as her problem child now.
Unfortunate first time experience here with them that didnt need to even happen. I called hours before I went to see if they possibly had time to do a small (10 minute) tattoo...the lady I spoke with was very nice and told me that they would have time and to go ahead and come in. So when I get there, a lady tells me that one of the artists will be out soon to ask me what I wanted and to see where I wanted it. I waited and waited and waited....nobody came to see. Now mind you, on the phone AND face to face, I told her that if they dont think they will have time, thats fine but just let me know so I dont keep sitting waiting for no reason! More time goes by and then a different lady comes to the front and asks me if Ive been helped.(she was very nice too) I tell her whats going on and she tells me yea ok just wait, theyll be with you soon..it wont be long. I told her Id be right back, im going to get more cash. The bank is 8 minutes away and I came right back and sat down. More time went by again, the lady comes back to the front and tells me to come back another time!!!!I wasted over 2 hours plus driving time ( I live 30 minutes away) sitting there for nothing. I know that things happen and in a tattoo place youre most likely going to have a wait but.....omg. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! After I left, I called to tell them all this and the ladys response might just as well have been Oh Well lady. ......VERY DISAPPOINTED 😞
I have been in 5 other tattoo shops and this is the first time a tattoo artist actually takes the time and listens to me and my ideas! I highly recommend Danny Murphy as your go to guy to get a tattoo! He was very professional, clean, has great ideas and is very patient. Danny really takes the time to make a piece that you are going to love and not regret like I have in the past. I definitely will be going back to get more work done and finally finish my sleeve.

I needed to have my nose stud screwed back on and I stopped in to get help. Noe was very helpful and accommodating. The place was very clean which I really loved. Although I didn’t get any new services, When I’m ready for more services I would definitely remember this place.

I took my daughter there a few days ago to get her belly button pierced. The guys were very professional and the shop was super clean. She was a little nervous, but Noe was great and made her feel very comfortable. I would highly recommend this place for piercings.

Very clean, professional, and energetic. Definitely coming back. Walked in and girls at the front were awesome and welcoming. Artists greeted us as well, and helped out make sure we got the perfect tattoo. Very friendly, funny, and great vibes. Noe and Justin were awesome. They did a great job on my boyfriends zodiac sign and my lotus flower. Loved it!
Now is the best of the best when it comes to piercings. Two friends and I went to the shop, one was getting her cartilage pierced, one was getting her triples, and I got my tragus. He made the experience as comfortable as possible, he knows what he’s doing, and he’s extremely good at what he does. Overall, 10/10 experience, highly recommend!
Don not recommend going here . Super slow service! Had to wait to be helped for 10 minutes. Also one guy approached me and a friend saying he was going to do our tattoos . Its like 3:30 ... waited 30 minutes just to let us know he wont be doing them that someone else will be doing them .. wich was okay ... another 30 minutes so they check IDs and go on a computer for permission... WAITED ANOTHER 30 MINUTES to get tattooed by the other guy .. i was done quickly and kinda satisfied with work ... my friend on the other hand wait and hour just to get tattooed because previous guy who was going to do our tattooed said he was going to do it instead.. but stalled another 25 minutes!! Because he kept getting calls .. And so unprofessional because they were making fun of my friend for not shaving her ankle correctly then making fun off her to sit properly and to make sure she sits well because the chair has wheels . Will never go back again !!!

I went there for my first time a little while back to get line work of angel wings. Nothing intricate either. No shading or color. When I arrived a group of women asked for a small heart tattoo. They were negotiating prices and I could tell both artist and customer were annoyed that neither would budge from price. The ladies left and I was called back for my tattoo. The whole time the two men cussed the women out for the pricing. It was unsettling because I’ve never been to a place where the staff talked openly about a customer. Especially in the way they were. First red flag. After the tattoo was done it looked fine in my eyes. However, after letting it heal I’ve realized the wings are very uneven and some lines are thicker then others. Always be mindful on where you go.
This place is amazing! I went to get my cartilage pierced and had a great experience! Robin at the front desk was so incredibly sweet and made me feel right at home. She was very professional and just a great person. Noe, the guy who pierced my ear, knew exactly what he was doing and made sure I knew what was happening. When I was finished they gave me a water, stickers, a custom designed shirt and a discount! 10/10 would recommend!
The shop is excellent. Prices are very fair, and without an appointment in minutes they had what I wanted laid out and ready. Staff are extremely friendly and I will be using them again.
My tattoo experience was wonderful. This was my first time getting tattooed and I felt comfortable and the artists are very upfront and honest. The design I originally had in mind would not have turned out well on my skin and Justin did well with explaining his concerns and how the design could be modified to have the best outcome. The shop was clean and professional. I would definitely come back.
If you want more custom tattoos, 4 Anchors Tattoo is not the best place to go. This place is more catered to people who want quick work, and quantity versus quality. The vast amount of young sailors that go here pretty much keeps them in business. I agree with others that the employees here display sour attitudes and they complain about customers out loud. My first time, I was scheduled to go get a tattoo and I was sitting in the waiting area for over an hour. It wasnt even busy. I thought to myself, its a Monday so I guess I understand. The tattoo I got was good. The second time I went, I was scheduled as well, but it was busy. I can understand the extended wait time then, but the main artist (Justin) postponed my work by talking to customers who came in after me and even asking me to wait a bit more while he does a simple tattoo for someone (came in after me) really quick. The tattoo he did for me was OK, but it was definitely rushed. My last visit to 4 Anchors Tattoo is when Justin didnt keep his word. I asked him if he could do a certain design for me, and he said yes, so I made an appointment with him. When the day came, I withdrew cash from the ATM and drove up there. When I arrived, he told me he couldnt do it because the design was too complicated and it wouldnt look good, so come back another time with a simpler revised design. By this point I was very fed up. It didnt help either that the he got noticeably annoyed with me for contesting his decision. Thus I shopped around for other tattoo shops and found an artist in the north side of Chicago who did the same design that I wanted with no questions asked. The tattoo looks terrific and I have had it for nearly a year. I knew for sure it could be done, its just that Justin is picky with the work he does. So if you dont mind employees with attitudes and quick work, feel free to go here. If not, you should probably look elsewhere.
First of all I just to say the staff at 4 anchors is not only extremely professional, but theyou also make you feel right at home as soon as you walk through the door. Second, HUGE shout out to my man Justin Wilson. After driving 4 hours, walked in to the shop and got straight to business. He was very helpful in finding exactly what I wanted and explained everything along the way. Thirdly, the pricing was extremely fair. So no concerns there. Great atmosphere, even better people. Hands down the best choice you could make if youre looking for a no nonsense tattoo parlor.
They are so rude ! When I went the first time a young women was really rude and me and my mom left and later on couple months I called to see what I needed Bc I am under age and a man was really rudeee like what the heck I don’t know about their work but honestly I wouldn’t go there they are so rude the type to mess up your purchase on purpose honestly

Went there to get my first tattoo and it goes to say that Justin and the staff know whats up. They were all friendly and made the process easier by talking to me and my buddy while Justin worked on my arm. They are straightforward and honest with all customers, whether a design is good or not, they will let you know which is something I respect in this kind of business. Overall, a wonderful service and I may possibly be back for another one shortly.

I liked it because iron man was playing in the background and I was wondering, if Tony stark would of shared his ideas to the government, it not only would of given them more power over the people, it would caused disaster over other countrys and experiential project like the Iron man suit and more problems in the U.S.A. But other then that it was exactly how I wanted my tattoo.
My wife made a deal with her brother. Put 50 cents in the fake tattoo machine and whatever pops out they get it tattooed. Artist comes out from back screaming profanities and telling my wife to not put money into the machine until after she prepares for the actual tattoo? A deal between two siblings has nothing to do with the shop. I understand when people get into fights because they may or may not do it, looks bad on business. However, coming out from the back, not knowing the situation, being an employee, screaming GD at the top of his lungs is not professional business. His words to the customers were we need to get so and so to put a GD sign up. This was also when the lobby had quite a few people in it. Very embarrassing not only to my wife but himself and his coworkers. Then, when he walked back around the wall he said it again like nobody heard him. This business needs to remember to respect its patrons and its service members, since that is what this company has geared their promotions toward. PS. This effected not only my decision to make this review but my wifes decision to not get a tattoo at this business.
They people were amazing and hilarious. I half passed out after getting my nose pierced and they immediately jumped to help me. Made sure I was good and walked me through the rest of aftercare. 10/10 would recommend

I walked in this tattoo shop with a disproportionate and ugly koala tattoo and you could tell that the Two Artists Justin and Noe were genuinely interested in fixing this problem. They were extremely helpful and worked with me on a level that I haven’t experienced in any tattoo shop I’ve been to. Now my koala actually looks like a work of art rather than a 5 year old drew on my arm. I obviously had to get another tattoo from Noe because the touch up looked AMAZING! So now I have a cute little watermelon slice on my right side on My ribs. The watermelon hurt like hell but I was lucky to have chosen a great artist who was very careful and did his best to make sure I was as comfortable as I could get!
Im in love with these guys!!! Went last week and Noe my mushroom head ha did two beautiful tats that tribute the son I lost... amazing! Went back today and Aaron my great white n mustache twin lol did a huge cover up, cant even see the old one not to mention how savage he made the new one... awesome! Also Justin my hammerhead keeps everyone laughing dude is hilarious! Going back in two weeks for more, cant wait! These guys are the best artists, very welcoming, friendly, funny and make u feel at ease! Def recommend to all my people...i would seriously go just to hang with these guys!!! Love my boys... cant say thank u enough!!!!!!!!!! This is the place to go if u want any sick art... sickest Ive EVER seen!!!
Loved this shop! Went for an appointment with Justin, who has been doing my tattoos for a few years now. 4 Anchors is extremely CLEAN and modern. All of the guys in the shop are personable and knowledgeable in their field. I will definitely be going back and recommending folks to go check them out!

My tattoo leaving there looked fine but when I got home it kinda looked uneven the tattoo was very over priced. Two dudes told me and 2 others girls our tattoo would be 100 dollars minimum and we got a simple tattoo.
Visited 4 Anchors today and had an incredible experience. Clean, professional and efficient. Aaron created the perfect sketch for me and within minutes started working on my tattoo. I am thrilled with how it turn out. I will be visiting this shop again whenever Im back in Chicago.
