Theyre GREAT! I had never been to Optical Studio and woke up this morning with a really red irritated eye. I could not keep my eyes open... I gave them a call and they were able to see me right away. Literally 5 minutes after I called. I live right downtown in Northampton, so pretty much the time it took me to walk there.The office was super clean, had a nice welcoming feel to it and everyone was really nice as well as quick at what they do too. I got an eye drop prescription for my eye and a new pair of glasses while I was there, since I did not have any... I was not going to be able to not wear my contacts in the upcoming days and it would not have been fun walking around blind. So was VERY HAPPY they had something that worked for me. Anyways, they were all great! Ill be back in on Monday so they can see how my eye is doing.

The day of my appointment someone from the office called and asked if I could come in 30 mins early for my appointment. I said sure, as I had the afternoon free. After checking in and filling out the paperwork the receptionist told me I was 30 mins early. I kindly explained how they told me I could come in for 3:30. She looked confused and said it wasn’t in the computer. I then waited for 26 mins(!!) before being seen. The woman who did the beginning of my exam before the doctor came in asked me 5 times if I was okay with getting my eyes dilated. Each time I said yes. It was annoying being asked that many times in such a short amount of time. Then the doctor came in and she asked me twice if I was ok with getting my eyes dilated. While waiting for my eyes to be dilated, I had to go to the bathroom. The doctor showed me to the bathroom. The bathroom had toilet paper and paper towels over the floor. There was dust everywhere and overall just unkept and unattractive. The parking lot is also really cramped and kind of confusing. Overall my experience was less than pleasurable and I would not recommend anyone I know going there.

Staff are friendly only for the sake of the contents of your wallet. Opticians and front end staff have a huge disconnect. Desk staff do not properly submit paperwork or claims to insurance which result in billing direct to patient and a long hassle of claims to the insurance company. Frames are low quality plastic and NO REFUNDS. The upsell for cheap glasses is steep and harsh. Everything costs a bit extra and seems to be a hassle for the staff to discuss. Also refuse to give eyeglass prescription or Pupil Distance as they claim it is proprietary information. This is the car dealer of glasses. Avoid!

Dr. Erb and her team are committed to your vision and overall eye health. They are thorough, detail-oriented experts. If you need contacts, glasses or have a complicated vision history, they will listen and will take their time and help you! Also - they welcome ALL patients and celebrate all identities.

The people at Optical Studio are great. Even though they see people all day, they treat me as if my eye exam is important to get right. In fact,they do get it right. I have been going there for ten years.Also, the air quality in the office is great. The office does not smell like perfume, scented candles, etc., and the people dont smell like dryer sheets. That stuff gives me migraine headaches.

Love the eyeglasses and the professional but warm medical eye exam. details are explained and discussed. all options are presented and carefully considered. have been a loyal customer for decades and plan on more!

I would highly recommend the Optical Studio! Everyone from the doctor to the front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. I have never felt so comfortable getting my eyes examined and they helped me find the perfect glasses!

This place is AWESOME!!! I had such a wonderful experience with the staff and the quality of service.I was in a bind and needed my prescription sunglasses replaced in less than a week. They helped me acquire my same frames that I broke and put my old lenses in for me. In two days!! : ))They totally saved my family vacation.Great job guys!!!Jack

UPDATE: This place has taken a major dive since the business was bought by My Eye Dr. The doctors are still great, but the optical services are just terrible. I brought in my frames a few months ago because one of the lenses was loose. When I got them back, the lens was still loose, and it was also crazed. Tons of tiny little cracks. Accidents happen, and the right thing to do is to own up to it. The optical staff pretended they couldnt see it.Fast-forward to now. I got new glasses. Two days after picking them up there was a scratch on one of the lenses. I sent them back to be replaced and was told it could take up to 2 months! Thats unacceptable. I have never heard of frames taking more than 2 weeks.Other bad changes:-No more automatic warranty. You have to pay extra for that now.-No more appointments. Optical only takes walk-ins, which means you will be waiting a while.-Their selection of frames is boring. They used to have fun, stylish ones.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I give highest praise to everyone at Optical Studio. The desk staff and opticiansare unfailingly kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. I am so grateful to Dr Chute, (and Dr Purdy before her,) for recognizing and treating my severe dry eye syndrome that my previous eye doctors said was normal and allowed me to suffer with for basically my whole life. The other medical staff are also compassionate and kind. Recently I tried contacts for the first time, and when I could not get them out of my eyes at the end of the day, I panicked. I called the Optical Studio for help, and even though it was already 5:00 pm and the office was closing, one of the medical assistants walked me through it until I was able to get the contacts out. They are truly wonderful. On top of that, they have the most excellent selection of frames Ive seen. Its hard to find frames that look good on me, and every pair Ive got from Optical Studio draws regular compliments. I cant recommend this office highly enough.

I have seen Dr. Erb and others in her office for several years and I always feel that I am being treated with the utmost respect and care. From the doctors all the way to the receptionist, the staff are competent, professional and friendly. In a world where so many health care (and health insurance) systems are broken and oriented toward profits rather than patients, Optical Studio is like a breath of fresh air!

I have been a patient at Optical Studio for nearly 30 years, (mid 30s-mid 60s). Dr. Maribeth Erb and her associates have always been thorough and thoughtful with eye exams and explanations of procedures. I dont have complicated issues with my eyes: reading glasses in my 40s, distance vision limits in my 50s etc. Still, I am grateful to have been treated with such care and expertise.

We came in blazing with three little children in tow and they didnt skip a beat and accommodated this beautifully. They make customer service seem like a second nature. Our visit was for my 11 year old son but I am now going to move my eye care Optical Studio. Thanks for all your help today

Super nice, friendly and accommodating. Excellent service. Technician spent almost a half hour readjusting my old glasses so they would fit better (titanium frames!). New glasses are so comfortable I almost dont even know they are on. I recommend highly.

Getting a puppy 8 months ago was awesome. Having him chew up my glasses twice in the last 3 months was awful. The quick and friendly service at the Optical Studio was absolutely wonderful.

While typical medical care is very rushed, I really appreciated the time and attention that each provider gave me from the optical technician to the doctor to the optician. I left feeling that I had received a thorough exam and glasses that really worked for me. When I had a question about the bill and the insurance reimbursement, the team was able to help me promptly. After a year of unpleasantness dealing with an eye health issue, it was great to get back to basics and return to Optical Studio for my yearly exam and picking out some fun new glasses. As usual their communication skills were great when explaining to my eye health or when detailing the differences in the type of lenses or explaining any add-ons that I could apply to my new specs.

I went for a regular pressure check for glaucoma and had some personal concerns and fears around a potential surgery come up and Dr Erb was every sensitive to my fears and questions, taking the time to reassure me that I was in excellent hands with the surgeon under consideration. She also explained my options of whether to move ahead with the surgery now or wait until I felt more grounded and had been able to resolve some of my other current life stresses. I left with much greater peace of mind feeling very blessed to be under her capable care. I highly recommend her to anyone. She cares deeply for her patients and gives them the time and information they need to sort through their questions and concerns.

As a patient of 10+ years I was told by a doctor here that I was unwelcome to return after refusing eye drops because of chemical sensitivity. I feel that I was discriminated against for having MCS and now need to find somewhere else to get my needed glasses prescription. The doctor was incredibly disrespectful and showed zero compassion - the worst experience I have ever had at a medical office.

Im a new patient, and Dr. Chute grasped the complexity of my contact lens situation immediately and came up with good choices for my next set of lenses, and on a tight timeline to boot. everyone here is both friendly and ultra-competent.

Generally speaking, I am not the type to review anything, but my experience with the staff of the Optical Studio was so pleasant, I felt the need. I was just reading all the horrible reviews and Im shocked! I love optical studio and Ive been going there since I got my first pair of glasses two years ago! Although it would have been nice to know that the doctor I had before, left the practice before my appointment... but again, friendly service and I would definitely recommend to anyone!

Optical Studio provides the best eye care in the Valley! Dr. Erb and staff are caring, thorough and take the time to explain your eye exam. Their selection of frames is awesome too. They have both expert optometrists and opticians all in one beautiful location.

Incredibly rude service- especially by the young woman who has worked there for upwards of 15 years, who goes out of her way to make you feel like you should feel honored to be paying for their services. They were fine the first couple of times I went. The last time, I went in expecting my insurance to cover the exam because it had been over a year. They knew I expected this and didnt tell me until after the exam that my insurance was ludicrous and wouldnt. They made me pay the full price out of pocket. I wont go back after that.

At a time in which profit and productivity drive healthcare it is rare to find the quality of care with the personal attention Dr Erb, Dr Chute and their amazing staff offer. The staff at optical studio are amazing! Everyone I encountered there was so warm and friendly! Ive been going here for years and its always been pleasant however there some new people, at least for me, and they were all great! I have to add that Nicole went above and beyond after hours when she discovered me sitting in their parking lot with car trouble. She offered to drive me anywhere I needed to go and did drive me to a rental car office and waited to make sure they had a vehicle for me. I am still overwhelmed with the compassion and generosity she showed me. I would have recommended Optical Studio based on the customer/business relationship but again Nicole was amazing and I am thankfuthankful for her!

The care at Optical Studio is outstanding. They are working in an insurance environment that is unfriendly to both patients and providers. Reimbursement decreases every year and patient copays and provider expenses increase. Despite this they remain friendly, prompt, professional and provide excellent medical care. I recommend them without reservation.

Excellent doctors, I was given a thorough eye exam, she was very friendly and explained every step/test being performed. I will not purchase eye glasses from them again. The staff that helped me was new, very nice, but l was looking to her for guidance and options and found none. My appt. was August 1st and today on the 17th I still do not have glasses in hand. A phone call would have gone a long way to explain a delay.

I changed to Optical Studio because I was unhappy with my previous provider. I have seen both Dr. Erb and Dr. Purdy and they were both helpful and pleasant. I got great care. When I picked out my new frames Danielle helped me select frames that look great. She was terrific to work with in getting a just right fit! it took a few visits and multiple adjustment but she kept working at it. I love my glasses and have been happy with all the folks at Optical Studio.

I just love my new specs! The people there are so nice and helpful.

A useful efficient visit and a very helpful staff.

I have been gritting my teeth over the poor service here for the past year, and am glad to be leaving. The individuals working the reception desk clearly have better things to do than actually have doctors or technicians return your calls. They are also quite short on the phone and it has often taken many calls on my part to gather the information I need. Additionally, the doctor who performed my standard exams took upwards of two hours to complete them... Clearly they are understaffed. I would not recommend this office to a friend.

Beyond my excellent annual checkups whitch I value so much, I also value the Optical Studios emergency services this past year when I scratched an eyeball. I was taken in, examined, fixed up with a minor repair with a eyeball contact lense which acted as a bandaid. Several days later the scratch was healed and the contact removed from my eye. This service was so valuable to me as my 2 eyes are the last ones I have. No joke, but would like to add the employees and Doctors at the practise really care about your vision and your immediate eye safety and concerns. Thank you!

Hands down one of the rudest and least helpful eye Drs in Northampton. Between constantly feeling like the Drs are holding my care over my head like a privilege or a hostage, and being jerked around by the uneducated receptionists, going to optical studio is easily one of the largest headaches of my day every time I visit. I would recommend even lenscrafters over optical studio. I am infinitely disappointed and frustrated that I have gone here for so many years. I am disgusted.EDIT: Months after writing this review, while I was attempting to transfer my records to Eye Physicians of Northampton, I discovered optical studio had been withholding my records from me, supposedly over a 25 dollar copay. They refused to transfer them until the charge, from many months prior during an appointment I was told I was all set for, was taken care of. If you want to have your care and even medical records used as means of manipulating you, you will love Optical Studio!

Great practice with awesome docs and staff!

The customer service at Optical Studio is terrible. Over the course of three months I saw multiple doctors who gave me conflicting prescriptions that made my vision worse. I had to pay for the glasses up front, and that is okay, but once they had my money they would not return phone calls. Three times I received the wrong lenses from them and they would not give any priority to my needs telling me I would have to wait until their labs down in CT got around to remaking them. They also claim that their labs had broken the lenses and had to restart the process and meant I would have to wait another week to get the glasses I had paid for THREE MONTHS AGO! If you are looking for a compassionate place of business who feels it is their obligation to help their customers you should look for somewhere else. After all of that, they offered me a partial reimbursement. Lens Crafters is far superior and they are a box store you can find in most shopping malls. Optical Studios is not a local business trying to endear themselves to the community.
