Here is the deal about boats. they are boats ! its probably not your daily driver to get you to work, like a car is. Unless your a fisherman !!! HAHA The guys here know their stuff. In a pinch they helped me swap my controller from a right hand to a left hand. Thanks Fellas

My buddy and I bought a boat from an individual that being serviced at Cal Kona Marine, we did the transaction at Cal Kona Marine the boat needed a detail Greg the owner recommended his detailer name Chaz and Greg said Chaz is really good Chaz gave us an estimate for $2500 and cash only for our 30 boat Chaz did a terrible job he missed a few places in the cabin and back of the boat then he touched up couple of them but not all and he said to give him my email he will send the invoice he never did and I found out Greg gets 10% of the $2500 we paid to Chaz meanwhile we bought a used Lewmar windlass 1000 from Greg which he told us this windlass is practically brand new we installed it on another boat and the guy didnt like it he bought a different windlass which it was a lie Greg put the windlass in a box and we took it with us unfortunately we did not check the windlass thoroughly couple of months later we got an installer to install the windlass he found out one of the studs is missing the ranch was missing owners manual was missing and solanoid was cracked I call Greg on December 11th and told if he can help us with those items he said you bought it used you are an owner he sId to me to call Lewmar he would not even help us at all we ended up spending another few hundred dollars for broken and missing parts and found out from Lewmar theres no warranty on that unit Im very unhappy with Cal Kona Marine I would never deal with them ever and I found out through a friend that they have done bad service to another customer

After taking the skipjack to a local evinrude dealer and immediately regretting it, my business partner and I decided to take it to Kona for a platinum dealer experience. They came through and got our issue cover by the warranty, made some adjustments to the network bus, and cleaned up the other guys mess. I high recommend them to anyone in the OC area and especially Evinrude owners.

This father and son team and their employees have been nothing but on point for me with my 200 ho etec. Their parts are the same price as I find online, and I usually don’t have to wait. They’ll give you a few ideas to troubleshoot if you are having problems (try getting that from other mechanics) and they’ll straight up tell you when and how to get the best deal on a repower.

I took my boat in for a motor replacement and addition of an autopilot. The motors were used every other part involved in the repair was new including new power steering new autopilot new wiring for everything, except a control throttle which they sold me used. What worked: The used motors. What did not worked and had to hire someone to fix their incompetent work and cost me an extra $4k:1- The power steering did not work. They had the audacity to tell me that Verado steering was sometimes hard to which my mechanic laughed very hard. They had it connected incorrectly.2- The throttle did not sync. They told me the throttle which they sold me is not compatible with my old motors. My mechanic fixed it not sure how.3- The autopilot did not work. Which they did not test since the boat was on dry land and they did not even set it up. After putting the boat in the water, I was told by their mechanic that they did everything right and called Lowrance and were told that the autopilot could not handle those motors. My mechanic spent some time trying to figure out what they did, turns out the whole setup including the power steering was done wrong and he had to redo it.4- My mechanics words: They butchered your electric panels connected all 4 batteries in tandem instead of one battery for every different battery and circuit.5- They kept the hatch open for six month opened and leaning on the bolsters which damaged the bolsters and had to change them.6- they put heavy vacuum hoses on top of my bilge float which stopped the pump from starting.I have receipt and pictures to prove all this. And yes it took them 6 months instead of 6 weeks.Stay away if you can. I dont even know how they are actual dealer for Evinrude.

This is the worst boat repair shop. If I could give you a zero I would. Didnt do work I asked to be done, created more problems and got my boat back dirty covered in hand prints. Boat was in for over a month and paid over 2K for nothing. DO NOT GO HERE, UNLESS U WANT TO BE CHEATED AND RIPPED OFF. By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced, super rude and disrespectful. Thanks for the waist of time and money.

Took my boat in for 2-stroke outboard repair in June, 2013. Boat was returned in 2 weeks, but had no spark when I launched it; a new development. Took it back to Cal-Kona, where it sat for much of the summer. Boat was returned to me once more - again, with no spark. This time the boat was gone until October. I was told the power pack and stater were replaced and $2000 of uncharged labor went into ferreting out the cause of the problem. A flywheel off a junk motor was installed and hailed as a fix. Some fix. At the ramp, the boat would not rev over 2100 rpms for a top speed of 7 mph - when I could nudge it into gear without it dying. The motor coughed and smoked up the launch ramp, as well. When I brought the boat back to the yard yet again, Derrick of Cal-Kona said the motor is beyond repair, even though the compression is good and it has the new parts. He simply washed his hands of it, after keeping my boat through the entire summer fishing season and accepting 4-figures of my money for not fixing my motor. He was more than happy to sell me another motor, of course. Avoid Cal-Kona Marine at all costs........

I had Cal-Kona rebuild a trailer for a boat I bought in Oceanside and planned on towing to Seattle. I had a problem with it in LA, in-fact it caught on fire due to a sticking brake caliper. I called them very defensive and upset, I have to hand it to the guys on their end, calm cool and fair we discussed what caused the issue, I sent them photos of the damage and assembly and they have determined there was a defective part installed that they buy pre-assembled. Cal-Kona is working with the mechanic in LA to expedite the replacement parts even if they have to drive them up and get us underway, and are absolutely working to make it right. It is nice to deal with a professional who really wants to deliver a quality product and stays calm even with a defensive customer. I appreciate their professionalism and that they do strive to deliver, and stand behind their product even when things go bad. I am sure out of the thousands of trailers hubs they rebuild this is bound to happen occasionally..
