What a great place for breakfast. Like the other reviews say, literally, everything is good. The chicken fried steak is awesome, with just the right amount of delicious gravy. And also, like the other reviews say, the coffee cake is outstanding! Service is A1. Definitely something you should check out.

Can coffee cake count as an entree? Asking for a friend! So as you can guess, this restaurant has the most amazing coffee cake ever on the menu. Worth driving here for, waiting in line for, etc. The rest of the menu is just as yummy with lots of breakfast and lunch favorites. I decided to up the sugar content with some French toast. The decor is all surfing and fun to look at. Downside was the wait - it’s a bit much during peak times and it seemed a bit chaotic to someone who wasn’t a regular. But all of that is worth it for the awesome food!!

The food is delicious!! We had corned beef hash with a poached egg, great flavor, crispy ends, just delicious. Also, we had pancakes that were huge and fluffy...YUM. Then there is their coffee cake, so Amazing! Great service, you will not be disappointed!!

We had a great breakfast here!There were a lot of customers outside so we figured it would take awhile to get a table, but they were able to get our group of four in within 20 minutes! Our wait staff was quick and friendly. They apologized that the kitchen was a bit behind, but it didnt really take any longer than we figured it might take to get our food.Our 6 year olds had the Mickey style pancakes, my husband had the Corned Beef Hash, and I ordered the Awesome Omelette. We all tried each and they were all great! We ordered two pieces of their coffee cake and it was AMAZING!! I could have eaten just that by itself.Thanks for such an enjoyable experience for us out-of-towners!

Great food, came out hot & delicious. Even forgot to take a picture before I ate half of it. The staff was friendly and attentive. There was an annoying old guy out on the patio that was being vulgar and loud and kept whistling and yelling to get the waitress attention. Must be a regular because they were still nice to him. Didnt make the food any less delicious, just made me not want to sit there anymore.

I hate to admit that I was born in Oceanside & I had never tried this restaurant. Maybe because of the long lines on weekends so....we tried it Monday & It was very good. I am not a breakfast eater so I tried the Grilled Cheese - Our Way!11.95Jack and cheddar cheeses, bacon, tomato. Perfectly grilled on your choice of bread & has a small salad on the side. After eating I 1/2 of it (thats all I ate), I realized the tomato & bacon was forgotten. Now hubby got the Juicy Fresh Ground Beef Patty 5oz14.25 with egg over easy & their home potatoes (yummy) & toast. He wasnt crazy about the patty but everything else was very good.Now fast forward 1 day & we decided to try the restaurant again.I had a small salad with blue cheese & decided to try a cup of Homemade Spicy Chicken ChiliCup $6.95Topped with cheese and onions on request. (no thanks)I took 2 bites of the chili & put it aside, I didnt like it at all. (I would of thought they take it off the bill if I didnt eat it)Hubby had a special that was no on the menu, I believe it was called Chile Verde (pork) hash mixed with their home style potatoes, 2 different onions & a egg on top. He & I both liked it, it was a LOT of food.

We had a 30-35 minute wait which is understandable for a Sunday and we were willing to wait, they had really good reviews! The service was very quick once we were seated we put in our order and our coffee cake came out within minutes. The coffee cake was the star of the show and is a MUST GET! You will not be disappointed. The rest of our meal was just okay. I got the country fried steak with hasbrowns and it was just alright. I wish the hasbrown were crispy and a bit more flavor in the gravy. We will come again for the coffee cake but probably won’t order anything else.

I love the ambience of this restaurant. The workers are friendly and the owner is easy on the eyes. I wish Mr. H would bring his talents to Escondido. If not, Ill just have to go shopping at D.A.V more often so I can visit Beach Break Cafe. I had the vegetable soup, whole wheat bread and chicken breast with water. Their water was so good. Yes, I am raving about water. Their water had just enough ice to keep it from being lukewarm. It was fresh and clean. I appreciate the staff so much! They were courteous, friendly and kind. Unfortunately, not all workplaces have such cohesion among their staff. I would enjoy working there if I wasnt watching my figure and if my true passions didnt lie elsewhere. Run, dont walk to B.B.

Well worth the wait on Saturday morning. Hosts and servers were friendly and attentive, food was delicious, especially the fresh and warm coffee cake. Great local owned family business with some awesome surf history all over the walls. 🤙

So many options to pick from and the owners always come out and make us feel like part of the family. The lady is such a doll and always has the best stories! Although the food is amazing and so delicious…. The people there make it even better.

We were there on a Saturday morning, long line outside to get in, we took counter seats. They were very busy. Took a while for the waitress to take our orders and even longer to get our breakfast. Not a good time to go if youre on a schedule. Food was prepared to our order. Too busy to enjoy the meal.

Huevos were a bit runny but staff was awesome and atmosphere was good. Coffee was good too. Like the location.

What an amazing experience. The wait was a bit long but the food was so worth it. Having coffee while you wait is a nice touch. The best coffee cake Ive ever tasted. The eggs were cooked wrong though. We all ordered over medium and got booger type runny! The potatoes are large portioned. The bacon was authentic, thick and cooked perfectly! My favorite for French toast. Banana crunch French toast with whipped cream! I order a half order and the thick, lightly battered toast is just right. A side of bacon 🥓 and Im in heaven. The surf photos and memorabilia keep you looking all around & above. Stepping into the bathroom is like diving into an underwater scene. I love Beach Break Cafe & have been going there for 15 years. I take my kids, my relatives & my friends whenever someone says lets go out for breakfast!

Just noticed you could this place BBC ..now imagine waking your girl/guy (whatever flows your boat) and saying; baby you want some BBC (wink lol). Either way this place is just your basic breakfast spot never creative or mind blowing. Servers are chill and the food comes out fast. Theres more misses on the menu than great ones but you pay for what you get. Honestly you could get the same satisfaction if you went to Dennys or if you want local and a better go to Dons or Grandmas. If you want much better in Oceanside I highly recommend Swamis, Petite Madeline Bakery, Buccaneer Cafe or Harbor House Cafe. Honestly Beach Break aint even in the top 5 best breakfast spots in Oceanside. If we are being totally honest. You are a basic Karen with low standards disorder if you love this place. Sorry not sorry.

Loved the food and hospitality at the restaurant. The food was great tasting and a lot is on the plate. Kids have their own pick on the menu. My children loved the pancakes that were made up like Mickey. Will definitely eat here again.

My group of friends were seated pretty quickly. It was busy but we were given the options to sit indoor or out in the patio. The place was clean. Food is decently priced for the area. I do have one complaint and that is their is only a one person bathroom. The mens line had a few people before me. I would think a place as popular as it seemed would have a bigger bathroom. I ordered eggs and hash browns. The portion size was bigger than I thought. But it tasted good.

Such a good stop for breakfast. We had a bit of a wait to be seated but it was well worth it. Such good breakfast food and awesome coffee. Very accommodating with alterations and food allergies too. Such gracious staff and an awesome environment. Highly recommend this place. Well definitely come back when were in the area.

Omelets were great as was their coffee. Potatoes need to be a bit crisper. Coffee cake was great also. A bit on the pricey side for breakfast, but portions were quite large. Very nice surfer decor, and clean restaurant.

I really wish I had better news about this breakfast and lunch restaurant. I ordered an omelette, Homestyle potatoes, and coffee cake. The omelette and potatoes had no flavor whatsoever. The best part of my whole meal was the coffee cake which was absolutely delicious. It was recommended strongly by some friends that live nearby. Unfortunately I did not have the same reaction.

I was on a road trip and found this place on goggle search . I am happy I did . The food and presentation were spot on . The vibe was so 70’s surfer vibe, which I really enjoyed . Clean and welcoming as well . If ever in or near Oceanside, check it out .

Everything was delicious to me. A few things were compared to Waffle House, like the biscuits and gravy.... biscuits were not great but the gravy was very good, corn beef hash was better on a previous visit but still ok. The French toast and veggie omelet though... sooo good! Sevice was ok, wished the waitress checked on us a bit more and getting some water spilled on my son by the server, he was a good sport and we had a good laugh. Eating outside in the sun was a little rough but one of the bus boys came to the rescue and knew how to tilt the umbrella. They did however forget to give my wife her coffee cake, which I ended up going back for... because if you had it before you know its worth the trip. Over all the food was good and the service was ok.

We loved Break Break when we lived there. Now that we have moved away, we dream about their food! This is a must stop when we visit again.

Awesome place for breakfast! Thought it was going to be any normal café with small servings sizes because its a breakfast place. But I was wrong! Very big serving sizes with everything my group got. We went as a group of 7 and it was very delicious and we all ordered different things and nothing was disappointing. They made a simple mistake on my hash browns but it was resolved quickly. Everything else was fantastic

Their special today with eggs benedict!, The holidays awesome, and the pancakes are fluffy, this place has a great atmosphere of Beach and surfing, they do need more tables and I look forward to a full dining experience, best time to come is around 7:00 a.m. for breakfast, thank you beach break cafe!

Service was great and the food was delicious. Got the chicken fried steak with over easy eggs and hashbrowns. Chicken fried steak was light and tender with flavorful gravy (had a hint of sweetness which I didnt hate). Eggs and hashbrowns were great. Rated 4 stars because while I think the food and service was great, I paid slightly more here than I would a similar establishment. Overall, Ill be back again!

I saw some great reviews on TA for this restaurant, so we decided to go for breakfast. We got there about 9:30 on a Thursday and there was a line out the door. We only waited about 10 minutes, sat at the counter (socially distanced) and everyone that came past us were really nice and friendly. I had the vegetable scramble and my friend had a ham and cheese omelette and both were great and piping hot. The server was always ready with a top-off on our coffee and we really enjoyed all the surfboards hanging off the ceiling and the memorabilia displayed. The restroom had a hand-painted underwater scene which was really cute. We saw the menu for lunch and decided we would have to come back.

Went here on a Monday for breakfast so didnt have the weekend crowds. Our waitress was great, a true professional. Food came out quickly and was delicious. The only reason for 4 stars vs 5 is the menu is pretty much the same as any other good breakfast spot. Overall a good value for the area and large portions. Will be back next time Im in Oceanside.

Not from around here asked where was the best breakfast place to go and they told us Beach Break. It was really good, they were very busy but still got great service. I would definitely recommend and go again. I got the California Omelette. Yummmm

Lived here for a long time but my first visit was the day after Christmas. The servers were kind, informative, and works as s team. The the choices were divers and the food was filling! Big plus they had grapefruit juice! Will definitely go more but be sure to beat the brunch rush or go in a smaller group!

We went here on our way out for a day at the beach! We were seated immediately outside (due to Covid-19) restrictions, the friendly, awesome hostess asked if she could take our temps. Great safety precautions in place! Within a minute or two, a wonderful woman came over to take a drink order. While she was at the table, another young woman came over and i found out she was our server. I said, Oh, and looked at the first woman, whereupon, Madison, our server said, Oh, shes just the owner! and we all laughed! Friendly? Check!

Great Mexican food in a cozy location. 5mins away from the beach. This place has the right name. Fresh ingredients and some speciality such as the tangerine fresh squeeze juicy. They have cover outdoor seating, street next to it is not too busy so it, it makes this patio a good place.

I just passed into this place one day in my hometown and I had never been before. I was greeted with friendly faces and very attentive service. When I looked at the portions going by the other peoples tables I was drop John. Great proportions and the food look amazing. I ordered Belgian waffles with bananas and chocolate chips on them and they customized it for me no problem. It was just as delicious as it look!. They serve kombucha mimosas & Mimosas of all different flavors as well. There are photographs, posters, guitars, paintings, memorabilia, Star Wars droids, pinball games, from one end to the other end on the ceiling to the floor and they are amazing.

Sad. We got here for breakfast and they had plenty of outdoor seating open, but when we asked to be sat outside they told us they only had the enclosed patio for outside dining. They said their server for outside had gone home for the day. I get that it was an hour before close, but why on earth during these times would you send your outdoor server home and not shut down an indoor portion of the restaurant. Poor form

Had to update my review. Sadly to lower my stars 😪3 out of 4 of my last orders were bad experiences. That left me throwing half my food way. It sadness me to be doing this, been eating at Beach Break Cafe for close to 17 years, since they were at their original location down the street.Everytime I order I tell the person taking my order I hate charred food. I dont like the taste, especially on breakfast food. Plus, charred food is a carcinogen, a cancer causing agent. So, I place my order and ask for it not burned/charred on the bottom, please undercooked it to be golden brown.3 of the last 4 times it has come burnt on the bottom. The 3rd order was perfect, because before I placed my order I talked to a manager, she told me to order it perfect. And that time it was, Im assumimg she went into the kitchen and told the staff to make sure it wasnt burnt on the bottom. I called back and thanked her very much for telling me about the perfect option. So stoked to have finally been shared that secret. Kind of surprised the previous times I wasnt told, as I tell them not to burnt it every time I order, weather its dine in or pick up.But, then on my 4th time, the last time I went, I told the order taker on the phone to press the perfect button cause I dont want char. His reply Ill do my best. I asked what does that mean, cause I dont want burnt or charred food, if its gonna be I dont want it and will order somewhere else. Im assured it will be perfect.When I pick the food up, I grab it and give Jim a $20 on a $16 order. I always tip well during these covid times to help out. I get back in to my vehicle and check it. Its burnt on the bottom. I walk back to the take out window, tell him its not prefect and its charred on the bottom. He apologizes and tells me he hit the perfect button and can show. I tell him I dont need to see it, I just want not burnt/charred food.He takes my food back and says hell get a new one made and itll be out soon. About 4 minutes later he comes back apologizes again and I left with it. Didnt check it this time.When I get home it looked like the same order just put in a different box and turned so the burnt/charred area was in the back of the box instead of the front. I called and told him this was still messed up and they just lost a long time customer who drives about 15-20 minutes to pickup food from there.So, I wont be back and Im bummed. When the food is cooked well its great. But its too inconsistent for me to waste my time and money to give my overtipping business to them.Photos are from the 2nd and 4th orders.Original review...Great food. Coffee cake is amazing. Great choices for breakfast, a really nice service and the only thing that you gotta consider is that the portions of each dish are massive! So if youre hungry it will be a great choice, if your not into eating big quantities, you could take it to go.Please do yourself a favor and try the coffee cake! You can feel all the cinnamon flavor and enjoy a great dessert.

FRESH, FRESH, FRESH DELICIOUS FOOD! This is unlike any diner food I have EVER had! I was pleasantly surprised by the heaping portions and affordable price.This is definitely not your average.. sausages were longer and more seasoned than your typical, the hash browns were fluffy on the inside and crispy down to the last bite, the eggs were perfectly cooked AND it comes with TWO LARGE and delicious biscuits.So grateful to live on the other side of the country.. Id never make breakfast again!

Visiting from S. Georgia with my husband and friends. I had the pleasure of dining at this famous restaurant. The food was delicious and our waitress (Shelby) was a delight. I would encourage you to eat here if you ever get a chance. You wont regret it. 😁

All American comfort breakfast food. The eggs, omelet, French toast, Benedict’s and scrambled eggs and some sandwiches for lunches. Your order comes with 2 sides and most of their items cost less than $15! The seafood Benedict’s was the best I’ve had! Comes with scallops, shrimp and crab meat. Awesome! Get the biscuit and gravy. The French toast was also good. Long wait on weekends, be prepare to wait.

My family and I have been coming to Beach Break pretty much since we moved to California in 2009. Our go to is the coffee cake (especially when it is fresh) and their omelets are fantastic! My favorite thing about the omelets is that you can ask them to make them a little smaller if needed - I almost never finish a full sized omelette so this was beneficial for me.

Best Breakfast spot in North San Diego County.Never a bad meal. Never bad service. Always the right choice for breakfast or lunch.Parking is a bit tough and the weekends are crowded so be prepared. Its crowded for a reason.Do yourself a favor and eat here..!

The Better Cheddar Burger was cooked perfectly, and arrived just as ordered! (We have problems most places getting it right). the fries were hot and the portions were quite large. It was deemed delicious, and had a wonderful crispy bit of cheddar hanging off the side!
