Phenomenal local dive shop tied in with the community that has a lot of expertise and quality products. I purchased a mask in the spring and unfortunately due to a minor defect it broke; not only did Meric spearfishing take care of the broken mask but they had me walking back out with a replacement within 10 minutes so that I don’t have to take a break from diving. Local shop bringing above average customer service; can’t recommend them enough.

Stopped in the other day for a wetsuit and a spear gun. Was helped by a younger blonde kid, really good guy passionate about diving. Gave me a lot of info and advice in a relaxed environment. Will be a returning customer.

Josh and the guys at Meric are very helpful and down to earth. Whether youve been freediving for 100 years or just started, they will help get you dialed in. Go ask about the club and meet some of the coolest people in north county. Meric is my go-to spot for spearfish, freedive, and lobbie grabbing goodies. Stoked that some locals stepped up to the plate and opened a shop for us!

During recent visits to Meric Spearfishing Josh has been super helpful in outfitting this relatively new spear fisherman with correctly fitting fins and helping to set-up my gun for optimum effectiveness. All around cool dude and mellow no-pressure vibe in the store.

Even if you are just getting started, he will set you up with the basics. Its difficult to find the old school type dive shops anymore, and this is one has all the new gear. I went into Meric a couple months back not knowing a thing about spearfishing. The owner, Josh, was super awesome. He gave me a whole rundown on spearfishing and what Id need. But instead of trying to sell me on a bunch of gear, he told me to just use whatever cheap snorkel gear I already had with my fiberglass polespear and see if I like spearfishing first.I took his advice and ended up loving it. Over the last couple months Ive been slowly adding to my set of gear. The selection isnt huge, but he only carries gear that he knows is good.If youre thinking of getting into spearfishing and dont know where to start, just go in and talk to any of the guys there. Theyll hook you up with what you need, whether its knowledge or gear

Josh was so incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about the gear in his shop. Very honest about what would save me money elsewhere, as someone looking to break into the sport I was very happy to not get taken advantage of by having the shop owner throw the most expensive gear at me. His helper Jasmine really sealed the deal on this shop being the best in Oceanside.

Let me tell you what! This dive shop is amazing, they have a great selection of gear. I went in today because I needed new rubber bands for my JBL speargun. I was expecting to pay about 20-5 bucks for new bands. That wasnt the case new. The new bands cost me 15 bucks each which is amazing! The owner is amazing! Hes super friendly, knowledgeable about the sport. The guy is very honest he wont try and talk you into buying something you dont need. He is always willing to help you out. if you need something done!

I mostly dont give reviews but in this case I have to! I have been a certified diver since 73, I have a very old rife spear gun and a very old sea hornet spear gun as well. I needed bands for both guns,. The owner went out of his way helping us he showed us options and we went from there. He even showed us a easier way o load our guns as well. Very helpful. We ended up getting new bands for both guns a float line and new snubber with line as well. I was very impressed the way we were treated!But to my surprise was a homeless person came into the store and the owner told him very politely he could not sleep at his front entrance or any of the other store fronts. He just of could of told him to get the Blank out of here but he did not. He showed compassion to the homeless guy which is rare. My hat go off to the owner on how he treated this man.Back to the shop, Very good prices, he even pointed out some rash guards to my son that were less expensive than other ones that work just as well. Kudos to the owner. Will I go back? Yes on question. Thank you for the help it was greatly appreciated Ray and Nick Collier.

I’ve been looking at purchasing my first wetsuit for over a year. Living in New Mexico no one sells free-dive gear, and my body size makes it difficult to order online. The owner at Meric was awesome. I was able to try on multiple suits and learned how to properly put them on. The shop has a huge selection of gear, with knowledgeable staff.
