After we had BBQ we had to stop by and grab a Japanese dessert and the Fugu. The strawberry cream was rich and flavorful (Im not all that big on the fish cake) but it was amazing. Its a great place to grab a refreshing dessert after a filling meal prior to walking the pier. Great job Fugu

What a wonderful hidden gem! My kids were so excited to get to try the Taiyaki which is a fish shaped cone. My daughter said it tasted like a waffle cone but not as sweet with a slight hint of cinnamon and was soft and chewy. The ice cream is very good with many topping selections. I highly recommend Fugu.

I got the 5 closed taiyaki. I dont think they get many orders of it because it took 25 mins for them to make it and they were overly crispy on the edges but the centers were good. They did mess a nutella one but were super nice about it and gave us 2 extra to make up for it. Usually, custard is my favorite filling but the 2nd batch with nutella were really good.

This is a chill place to go and get great Thai rolled ice cream. Located in the downtown area of Oceanside. The vegan and regular ice creams are all great. My wife got the vegan almond with pecan and she loved it. I had the ferrero rocher roll and it was amazing. The two people working there were very friendly. They also give a military discount.

Fugu was pretty darn good! We all enjoyed the flavors we got. Taro, Horchata, and the combination there of. The fish, wow! Best sea food I have ever had. It was toasted to an amazing perfection one could truly travel to another dimension with that profound crunch. And way folks thats not all!!!! I will now pause for a minute to let that sink in... Let is discuss the filling... to die for. They also add a crispy wafer pirouette. Come one come all!!!!

Absolutely loved our icecream, 100% would recommend and get the ferrero rocher flavor if you can!!! It was amazing & I wish I would’ve had time to go back a second or even a third time. But I’m a huge ice cream fan anyways. We also got fruity pebbles & s’mores ice creams & they were awesome too!A word of caution though: it is homemade ice cream & made to order, so keep in mind it’s going to melt a little faster than normal!!

My cousin and I got pineapple and strawberry swirl because we felt ice cream was too heavy… and it was perfect! I had no idea what this was going to be then I got up to order and it was awesome! I got the Captain Crunch bowl...they use a reverse griddle to drop the ice cream down to an appropriate temperature and chop chop chop it up then scrape scrape scrape it up into these cool little rolls...top with some cookies and some whip and you are all set! Great experience!

Pretty fun experience for the whole family! The reason 4 stars vs 5 stars is there were two ladies working since there was 5 of us one girl did 2 of our rolled ice creams and the other did the other 3 of our rolled Ice creams. The girl who did the 1 monster roll and mango roll washed everything in between and made them look very neat. The other girl who made the other 3 rolled icecreams did not wash in between I got the forerra roche my daughter before me got mint oreo I could taste mint in my ice cream which I dont like. My younger daughter got a monster like my son and it did not have the same neat topping s as the other girls. We ordered it exactly the same so there shouldnt have been difference.

Best tayaki ever! The soft serve is also perfect and creamy. I love the options of filling for the tayaki and the Nutella and matcha was a perfect combo. I cant wait to come back and bring my friends.

We were in line to order at 9:20 pm and were told when we got to the register at 9:27 they turned us away saying they were done for the day. Sign posted says 9:30 and online says 10. How disappointed. The group of 8 people were turned away also. Wont be back.

Glad that they have an Ice Cream shop like this here in North County but unfortunately it doesnt compare to some other places Ive been to on Convoy SD. The ice cream was just alright and the fish cone did not WOW me as like the other places Ive been. It was lacking something that I couldnt point my finger on what it was. My BF also agreed that he was not pleased with UBE even though hes an UBE fan.Very nice place and easy to find. Nice workers too.Make a selection of your ice cream and choose how you want it served. Had the fish one. The dough tastes great it is waffle like but soft. They also have rolled ice cream. You also get to choose your own sprinkles.

I have a son with food allergies. I know its not up to a place to cater to that. I went and asked very politely if they knew what the ingredients were to their almond ice cream. Fantastic ice cream place. The gentleman that was running the counter when we got there was super helpful and very patient with my kids.The ice cream was freaking delicious. I got the taro in a fish cone with Mexican caramel.10 of 10. Going back again.

Went there with my friend. She got the Vanilla and Mexican Caramel and I got Taro/Black Sesame swirl with red bean filling. We both really enjoyed it. We loved the minimalist atmosphere. It smelled INCREDIBLE! While it costed bit more than i was expecting it was worth every cent. The woman who was working there was very nice when i asked what she recommended and when I messed up what i was trying to say. Im definitely coming back and recommending it to others.

Really awesome place. Im so happy Taiyaki is a bit easier to find now! The ice cream, cone, and filling was really awesome. They have a DIY topping bar which I especially enjoyed. But the menu was SOOO confusing. All over the place. The customer service was a bit bad. There were a lot of employees just standing around and no one was willing to help (shocking as this place is new). We were the only people that were in the place so it was kind of off putting. I hope that will change as I really enjoyed the soft serve.

To start with, when I was making my order the girl at the register acted very rude and when I asked her a question she acted very annoyed. She didnt offer me any options for Taiyaki fillings until I asked her but even then all she said yeah we do. I asked again but she cut me off with is that all? and still not offer me any filling options or guidance on how to order. All she would do is cut me off with is that all? Before I could finish my order so I just decided to not get any filling.The Taiyakis were good (no filling tho) soft and crunchy. They were small but they felt like a good size for just snacking on them.The rolled ice cream was okay. The one I ordered didnt taste like the flavor I got. I was thinking that maybe they didnt put enough of the flavor ingredient.Im going to give this place another chance and come back to see if things are different. I dont know, maybe it was a bad day for the girl at the register?

Also, I dont know why, but it weirded me out a little that my ice cream was blue. But, like I said, it was delicious. Staff were friendly and people were socially distancing. So Id recommend this place.

Been trying taiyakis for the past month and this place is one of my favorite their waffle(fish) is always on point not too hard not too soft love their strawberry shortcake ice cream and UBE one !!

TLDR: dont go close to closing. Taiyaki waffle cone is good.Street parking only.Menu: the screen menu is up to date--the menu posted on the wall isnt up to date (or the items are not in season). One menu lists the Roll Ice Cream, the other lists the Taiyaki ice cream and your customization options.I suggest you go earlier rather than towards the end of the day because they will run out of flavors--especially the coveted Matcha. I was disappointed when I got to the counter, ready for matcha madness, only to be told that it was sold out *cries*.Limited indoor seating. If you order the roll ice cream, you can watch it be prepared through the glass. Totally mesmerizing to watch--slap on a bib because you may drool!Service: order and pay at the register, pick up your order to the left at the end of the counter, add toppings of your choice from the topping bar to the left of the register.Taiyaki: The taiyaki waffle is pretty thick and hefty. Holds the ice cream well and has a satisfying soggy chew. This by itself is pretty filling especially if youre getting this after a meal.Taro Ice Cream: a bit on the sweet side but you can taste the taro. It doesnt taste extremely artificial like at some other places.Black Sesame Ice Cream: lighter taste and not as sweet but you can still totally taste toasted sesame.

The shop has nice selection of rolled ice cream treats, or you can choose from a variety of soft serve flavors to go with the taiyaki, either directly in the fish shaped pastry, or served in a dish with the fish added to the top. A fun way to eat ice cream and the staff was kind and helpful.

This was our first time to try rolled ice cream. I had the smores and my husband had the mango. They were very good however it takes quite a bit of time to get your order.

My family was visiting from out of state and we heard about this ice cream parlor that was very good. So after dinner we decided to drive 30 min. hoping to enjoy “Purple yam ice cream”from Fugu. We drove up at 9pm, 60 min. BEFORE the store’s 10pm closing !We saw the shop owners closing the doors and said we thought they closed at 10pm. Their response was “it was slow so we are closing early”. NO apology, NO offer for a future free ice cream ! Well, no problem, because we will never return. Signed, Disappointed

The guy making the ice cream was struggling so bad he had to take breaks. At the end the ice cream didn’t look so appealing but tasted great!

Matcha heaven! If you love matcha anything as much as I do, drop in this ice cream joint and grab some matcha ice cream served with a crispy and tasty fish-shaped cone. The flavor the of the cone reminds me of those sesame balls from dim sum. I even asked for caramel flakes to top it off! I’ll be back for more this summer!

Very good ice cream. First time there the staff was great. I enjoyed the ice cream and a walk down to the pier of Oceanside. You may have to park a bit away but its a nice walk and there is shops around and the beach steps away.

Rolling of the ice cream yields a lot flavor, excellent toppings. Yumm. Granddaughters & we loved it. Unfortunately a bit pricey at $ 6.98 a cup.

Terrible experience. Took 30 minutes to get 3 kids ice creams that literally had 3 bites. Missed the sunset and it wasnt crowded at all. Only had 4 people in front of us. Son didnt like it so ended up throwing it away. Way over priced and you better have a ton of time on your hands.

So I saw a picture of the ice cream on the Main Street Oceanside Facebook page and decided to come down. I was greeted with a less than enthusiastic employee who seemed bothered to explain to me the 2 types of ice cream they have. She said they had rolled ice cream and (something) with taaro. Neither of them sounded appetizing So I ask for a little more explanation and she didnt try to make me enthusiastic about it at all. I would have tried it but honestly I left because the employee was so negative and did not make me enthusiastic about trying something Ive never tried before. So this goes out to the owners… watch your employees because theyre not doing a very good job of attracting customers! Especially when theres a cold stone right across the street! Anyway thats where we went because it was too easy to just walk away from this place given the reception and explanation I received.

I am SO happy I live a few blocks from this new place! Tried it last night for the first time, we got the Ube ice cream in the fish tail waffle cone and the oreo rolled ice cream... it was INSANELY good! And has plenty of VEGAN options! 🌱 Definitely our new favorite Ice cream spot!
