Their staff is nose up too customers. Their schedules don’t make any sense, they close early not only on Friday but Saturdays as well. They overcharge for some of their cards others are priced correctly. They allow you to play for free though that is nice.

Vortex cards and games is a wholesome and very friendly environment. The staff is very well mannered and friendly and is also super welcoming every time I show up with my friends to play. They always have the most up-to-date product in stock and provide a wide range of card games to choose from. One of the store managers Jonathan barber always takes his time to help me with my deck and also introduced me into other card games. The store is more than just the store it is a very welcoming environment that feels like home. The manager takes his time to step aside and help other players even when not necessary truly a wonderful place to come and visit highly recommended.

Went to play Magic in a shop for the first time and I chose the right place. Staff was nice and everyone in the shop was cool. They have a ton of products for sale of all popular card games.

Called to discuss selling a bunch of MTG cards. They told me on the phone that they do not have a buy list, so bring up the cards and they will go through them with me. They will pay approximately half of the card value.Called a couple days later and asked if today is a good day to bring up the cards to review. Confirmed.Shop is clean and staff was friendly. They told me that since my cards were not high dollar cards, they would pay much less than half their value. The cards were worth at least a dollar each on sites I went to.Without going through the cards because he said he “did not have time”, he offered $50. I told him that it would have been nice if they told me this on the phone. I have high dollar cards also, but would not sell them for 50% of value. I would have never walked in the door.Wasted drive across the bridge.Edit: I sold the cards on eBay for over $1,500. Vortex offered me $50 for all of them.

Visited several times now and am proud to call Vortex my local card shop. Large selection of cards and product available. Store is clean and has plenty of table space. Jonathan and staff have been very helpful in learning. You visit a store for the product but you return for the service!

Very nice place to hang out. Went there for the first time last night, the staff was very friendly and real helpful in both purchasing items and assisting in playing games. Major selection of both cards and card accessories available. Highly recommend Vortex.

The store itself is rather clean and has a decent collection of card sleeves but when it comes to regards of their tournaments they have a clear preference to Magic. Stacked multiple tournaments on one day so obviously there will be some people who will be ignored but they didn’t even attempt to keep their other tournament players updated if there was going to be delays or even talked to them and tucked them away in a back area. Would not recommend going for tournaments if you’re out of town

Stopped by to browse as a first time visitor and ended up purchasing two items. The store and item selection are both great. However, I felt my business wasnt valued as much as the other customer that was present at the time. I can only assume the customer was a regular, or at the very least was there for repeated business. Regardless of the circumstance, the gentleman working the register seemed disinterested during checkout. I dont expect my butt to be kissed, or a red carpet to be rolled out. As a first time customer I just would have appreciated a little more dialog than just my order total and a head nod as the answer to the question I had asked.

My wife, a friend and I recently started playing magic and decided to go to Vortex to check it out. WOW. I dont think I have ever received the level of service that I got at Vortex anywhere else. The owner spent about 2 hours collectively just explaining rules and helping us put together decks. The environment is very welcoming and friendly and they always have something going on! I highly recommend Vortex!

I started coming to this about a month and I’m so glad that I stopped by. From the general atmosphere, the card selection, and community Vortex truly is a wonderful place to go. All the staff and people there are very open to new players (such as myself) and always around to help. I would recommend this shop to anyone that’s looking for a good time playing card games. No question! 😁

From the humble roots of their original tiny store, the staff of Vortex have always put their customers above all else. They treat everyone like family. They are open to suggestions from the community and are always willing to work with other card shops to schedule non conflicting tournaments / sneak peaks. Players of every trading card game are always willing to help teach new players the ropes and enjoy doing so. I have yet to find a card shop anywhere as welcoming and friendly as this, and I dont think I ever will.

Play area is a bit small, but the Owners are great people who go above and beyond to make the place a welcome space to play any tabletop game. There is a fairly good size group of MTG EDH players there, and will run a draft on Friday nights when organized play resumes officially.

Amazing! I had to give it five stars! One the people who work there are really helpful and genuinely pleasant to talk to and when helping you! Secondly the selection of cards is amazing. I was one of those who would always go to Walmart, Target or other places to buy cards. No longer Vortex is where I go! Vortex may not have every card you can imagine but believe you me, its huge, and its an amazing place to go for your MTG or YGO, and even Pokemon needs. Whatever you cant find at Vortex, thats what they have Amazon for lol. But please if you ever get the chance to visit Vortex, please do, not just for yourself, but small businesses like this deserve support. And what better way to satiate your TCG appetite and support a small business than going to Vortex!

Ive been going to this shop for over a year now. And i have to say i love the atmosphere and the shop owners and workers have been extremely friendly. I cant get the level of help and love i feel from this estsblishment much of anywhere else. I love this place and will continue to attend..

Nice employee helped me out by buying some of my Pokemon cards. Its pretty clean and they have a lot of Magic the Gathering gaming times scheduled and some other events. And i think 7 tables for groups and you can buy snacks and drinks.

Amazing place workers and other players where super nice

I come to this store to play commander occasionally, and this easily one of if not the best card shop in Jacksonville. The people who come here to play play are great and the owners are truly amazing. Both of the owners made a point to know me by name after only the second or third time I came to the store. There’s really no other store with people this friendly and it makes playing here amazing. The people who run the store are also very responsive to their customer and seem to always try and make sure everyone there has a great experience. I personally drive forty minutes just to play and buy products here and it’s totally worth it. So if you haven’t checked this place out I definitely recommend it!

Superb! I am about 2.5 hours away, but heard about the new store and decided to make a purchase from their website to support the scene. Their website and stock arrangements were easy to navigate. Super impressed. Invested in their DBS stock, and am super happy. Great customer services and the prices were competitive! What a great place. Wish I lived closer to enjoy the kind of friendly and properly priced atmosphere. Hope the best for them in the future and I want to visit soon. Definitely gets A++ from me all around.

A few months back, I walked in a weekday afternoon just to browse and kill time while waiting to pick up my wife. Since I have never been to Vortex, the owner approached me in case I needed help. He was friendly and generally nice, but I felt his line of questioning was slightly inappropriate and a bit too personal. It just made the whole exchange uncomfortable. Not sure if I was dressed shoddily that day and I looked like a vagrant, but I still bought a drink so that they didnt think I was broke or something. Other than that the lighting was good and the store was clean and organized.

The owners are wonderful! Theyre extremely passionate about the gaming communities that they work with. The location is excellent! Definitely will keep coming back.

This is my new favorite game store. They have a good selection of Magic cards and other things and their service is fantastic. Also, they make and sell their own MTG booster packs for $1 which is amazing.

I honestly have yet to find a better Card Game store than this one. The onwwrs are always so friendly and it creates a great atmosphere for any one who wants to play fun and friendly card games.

My go to for D&D, its not a huge selection for D&D but theyll order anything for you and call you when it shows up. Very friendly, great environment. Theres always something going on up there with card tournaments, and they sell snackss and drinks. I want to keep them around so I definitely recommend to all you fellow nerds out there!

Awesome place. The owner is amazing and the play group always makes you feel welcome. They have a good selection of game accessories be it sleeves, playmats, or dice. Theyre always having events and they chang them up so you never get bored doing the same thing.

I was more then excited to see another games shop open up in the area, it gives us players a variety of choices, what one shop doesnt have the other on does. But I go to games to escape lifes little dramas and pettiness, and when I see Vortex publicly blasting a fellow competitor on their Facebook page and causing us to kinda choose sides, Im over it. You all have your happy little war, Im going elsewhere. Some things should be handled outside of the public arena and leave your customers out of it.
