Top notch people working for a top notch heat and air contractor. I called their office line on a Sunday afternoon, and a live person answered. She said she would call their on-call tech, Danny. Danny arrived quickly, and diagnosed and repaired my air handler, replaced my thermostat, and tested the whole system in a timely and professional manner. After 5 previous estimates for installing a new heat pump system I called Mike on Friday morning to schedule an appointment for an estimate. He returned my call immediately and we scheduled for Saturday morning. He gave us an honest and detailed quote for what we needed to upgrade our entire system. Mike Merritt HVAC is THE go to company for your heating and cooling needs! We moved to Fleming Island 3 yrs ago had 0 connections. That’s a tough place to be when you need repairs on your home. Who to trust and who is gona just rip ya off.I have nothing to say about this company except total professionals! I needed them multiple times over the last three yrs and each time they were pros. Got the system working and when I wanted to replace one Mike actually came out to ensure that this was done correctly. We used a zoned system and this can be a bit complicated. This is a owner that is out in the field with his guys making sure the jobs are done right and digging in when needed. That was clear to me very quickly.I would not recommend any company higher than this one. Integrity, loyalty to their customer base and fair pricing. They are not the cheapest in town, but for my money I prefer to just have the item fixed right the first time. Or if there is an issue they get right back out to fix it.Top quality! I needed my 19 year old AC system replaced. Although I had never before used them, Merritt has been in business here 30 years, their price was competitive, their office is located near my home. Brian & Chris pulled my old unit and installed a new Carrier 3.5 ton unit in about 3 hours, very thorough and professional work. Ask for Brian & Chris, then just get out of their way and watch a perfect job completed!
Mike Merritt and his great crew have been servicing our HVAC for 15 years. Never did they try to push a new system or unnecessary repairs. Recently our builders grade system had a major part failure and the repair just didn’t make sense. Mike provided the option of repairing or replacing, we opted to replace and we are so happy with the new Carrier system. When researching I came across the following. The quality of the installation is more important than the brand you choose, although IMO Carrier is superior. His crew is very experienced, professional and friendly, many with decade plus with Mike, This speaks volumes that he takes care of his workers and they love working for him. My install was completed flawlessly in about 3 hours. Don’t call anyone else but Mike Merritts you will not regret it.
My husband is in the military and currently deployed, our AC starting acting up so I called Mike Merritts and someone came out immediately. They got me up and running again until someone could come fix the issue, when they came turned out we needed the entire unit replaced. They were so easy to work with, so helpful, quick, pricing was way better than anywhere else, couldn’t ask for better service. The techs and office staff were constantly in communication with me and felt like friends by the end of it all. They ended up coming out 3 times for everything and we were only charged for one visit and the unit replacement. They really are a honest and genuine company looking out for their customers and not trying to squeeze every dollar out of a job they can. They easily could’ve charged me so much more. Will be calling them every time and referring to everyone I know. You will not be disappointed!
I ve been using Mike’s services for 2 years. AC stopped working 2 years ago. I called four people for estimate. All estimates were within $1,500-2000 apart. The people who came to give the price stated that they were in this business anywhere from 27 to 40 years. All of them told me that I had to replace inside and outside units. When Mike came, this is what he did. He poured a few cups of vinegar in the drain pipe and flushed it with pressurized air. Tons of think gunk came out Andy he AC unit was working. We decided to buy a new system anyway even though we did not have too. Mike not only gave the better price than the other four quotes, but his 19 year labor warranty was about 40% cheaper. A few days later we heard a noice in the attic. I called Mike and he came the same day the issue was fixed no questions were asked.Another encounter with Mike at my sister in law’s house. Mike fixed mistakes which were done by someone else who turned out did not know what they were doing.And my the most recent encounter was yesterday. My sister in law picked up $19 AV tune up add in Home Depot. The technician stated that he highly recommended to replace in/out unit or at least either to put 94.5lb !!!!!! if Freon at $112 per lb or replace evaporator coils and smth else which was total close to $4000. I did not have any issues. I just got hooked by $19 service which turned out to three options:$112x94.5 lb or $4000 or to replace the hwhole system.I called Mike. He came the very next day after I called him. $116 service. Everything was checked and everything was working perfect just as it was prior to someone coming and telling me that I had to replace new AC. I wish my sister in law called me first before she got $19 coupon.The bottom line is Mike is a man of integrity besides the fact that he is reliable, knows his stuff inside out, and very fair $ wise.I highly recommend his business.My name is Mark Goldberg.

The Ac was not cooling correctly. I had 2 of the larger companies come in. Both said I needed an entire system. One falsified the information on the readings. When I asked to take care of just the ductwork first, I never heard from them again. Merritt came checked out the whole system and never tried to sell me something that I did not need. Great people to work with, professional and at the price that was just right.
I’ve never written a review but felt I absolutely had to.It’s Saturday afternoon, I’m house sitting and the a.c stopped working. I called quite a few AC repair companies in the area, no answer. I called Mike Merritt and got an answer, she took my info and said someone would call back. Within 15 minutes Mike Merritt called back, he did some troubleshooting with me on the phone, (Wow, someone is nice enough to try and help without making any money...Bonus!) realized it didn’t work and said “I’m on my way”. He was here in less than an hour, fixed the problem, was professional and very pleasant.I was expecting to pay big bucks for an after hours call and didn’t, it was far less than I expected.I’ll be using them at my house from now on; a company that doesn’t overcharge, is willing to troubleshoot on the phone and then cares enough to come out after hours when I’m not one of their customers is Amazing!!! RUN, DONT WALK!!!!! I purchased an AC unit from Mr. Merritt and had a 10 yr. warranty on the unit. I had a part go out and was told I did not complete the warranty card. I [paid both labor and part to get the AC going. The company installed a cheaper universal part rather than a Carrier Part. Later I find out that I was under warranty when I called Carrier and that my Carrier part should have been covered. I called Mr. Merritts office and got the run around for 6 weeks and promises that they were ordering the part. They finally scheduled an appointment, for which I waited around all day, and they were a no-show. Run as far as you can from this company!! Despite the fact that Mr. Merritt says we have not reached out to him in his response to our review, we have called more than a dozen times and left messages with Summer, the Office Manager. Summer asked us to remove the bad review BEFORE they would fix the issue. When we informed her that we would only modify our review IF the problem was corrected, they went dark, with no response to any call or message since. While his office has been stalling, we have been attempting to identify other customers whose warranties have been compromised so that we may move forward together.
Called Merritt as no cool was coming out. Tech comes out and notices a breaker needed to be reset. Flipped the switch and it ran fine. Couldnt have taken more than 5 to 10 minutes. Charges us $116 for the service. Just to turn a switch on. Called to discuss with them. Told Id get a response later that day from Mike. No call returned for a full week. Called back two more times. No response. No surprise, they already had our money. (Which by the way was said to pay by check. Why, so you cant dispute with a credit card?) A reputable company wouldnt charge that just to come flip a switch. Especially after spending 1000s for the unit to start with. Gave them a chance to make this fair and right. They chose not to. Remember this when selecting this company for service.
Everyone was courteous and professional from the office staff to the technician. Rates were affordable, great job. They got me on the schedule to have my AC checked out in a timely manner, and was fixed within a few hours. Technician left the job site clean and tidy. No complaints.
When our AC stopped working on a Sunday, we actually contacted another company first. That company ended up being unable to come out in a timely manner and didnt call us as promised. We decided to try other options, and within an hour of calling, Mike Merritts was able to come fix our unit. Anna was very pleasant and helpful on the phone, and Butch was courteous and informative while fixing our system. The price quoted on the phone was exactly what we were charged (hourly rate + part). We are so glad to have our AC repaired!
Every time I have used their services they have been amazing! Their employees are efficient and friendly. I found them after another company was telling me I needed a new unit. I called Merritt and they replaced a faulty float switch. My A/C has worked fine until this afternoon. My fan board need to be replaced. They were here within an hour of me making the call. A/C is working great now.
I called Mike Merritt Heating & Air about a problem with my oil furnace and Mike was out at my house within an hour after my call. He was able to fix my problem after finding sludge build-up in the fuel lines. I would recommend Mike and his company to anyone. Thanks again!

She understood what we were describing and was able send a tech out that afternoon. When the Tech arrived he was able to identify the problem right away. He suggested we change our handler and did not try to up-sell us anything extra that we did not need. I could tell the Mike Merritt team cared about our needs. Over the years we have moved several times and in two of those moves, we have called upon Mike Merritt Heating & Air to replace both AC units. The service and quality was excellent. Day or night, if we ever had a problem with our AC, we could contact them and they would have a friendly tech over to our home within a few hours of our call. Super fast service. Called around 9AM and tech was at my home within 2 hours. Tech worked quickly and was finished within the hour. Would have rated 5 stars but the sticker shock of $62 per pound (4lbs = $248) for R410a put me off a little. Would have been great to know that before he topped it off but I did ask him to check it so that part was kinda my fault. Overall, great job.
These guys are first rate. Excellent workmanship, went the extra mile to make sure it was done right, left a clean jobsite when finished, and our house feels nice and cool.They installed a new Carrier unit inside and out in about 4 hours. (Not in the attic). The price was fair as well, as you get what you pay for.The warranty offered is ten years on pretty much everything, including the refrigerant in the unit we purchased.I would highly recommend this company thats been around for a long time.

So I have no issues with Mike’s quality of service or equipment install, however they do have the WORST appointment policy. I called last week and made an appointment for the following week on a Thursday. I took off work to specifically be here for the appointment. The night prior around 8pm I see I had a missed call and a voicemail from their office. In the voicemail the woman is asking if I will be around the next day for the appointment and to call back to confirm. Also in the message they don’t say, “if you don’t answer or call back we WILL CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT”!! So the morning of the appointment I call promptly at 0655 two hours prior to my SCHEDULED appointment from the week before, and I am told “sorry because you didn’t answer the phone yesterday, we have sent our crew somewhere else”?!??! WHAT kind of apply policy is this??? If anything you call the day prior to remind customers of the appointment, not a one shot opportunity to keep the appointment if they answer the phone! Totally jacked up my day!*****As a follow up to Mikes response below.While I was inconvenienced with the scheduling issues I described above I wanted to comment on Mikes commitment to excellent customer service.Once Mikes team was able to come out to the house (next day) they diagnosed my airflow issue and fixed it quickly and correctly. There was some miscommunication and misunderstanding of the cost involved in the repairs, as I understood that it was going to be covered under my warranty. I later found out that it was not and the crew was expecting payment for their work. Instead of making it an issue Mike told me that he would cover the repair and thanked me for my business and continued time as a customer. Very impressed with his level of customer service and flexibility!While we had a schedule issue, Mike and his team definitely made up for it with his continued commitment to EXCELLENT customer service.Highly recommend HVAC company in Jacksonville!
As a former hvac technician, I can say that these guys are honest and provide great service. Their technicians dont get paid commission so you dont have to worry about getting ripped off. My system was old and I was tired of making repairs so i called six companies to come out and give me quote on a new system. Mike Merritt is the only company around that offers a 10 year parts, labor and refrigerant warranty. They installed my new system today. Great company and great service.
Our A/C stopped working the weekend of 6/24-6/25. Danny came out on Saturday afternoon, had the owner, Mike Merritt, on the phone with him trying to figure some way to give us some relief but determined the unit needed to be replaced. Even though their schedule was totally booked Mr. Merritt (himself) came out on Monday (6/26) and helped his technician (Zeyad) install a new unit - in the rain! This is why weve only used Mike Merritt Heating & Air Conditioning for the last 20 years:) They are awesome!!
Really bad customer service when you want to cancel your contract early. We are moving and although we have paid for 2019 service, it has not yet occurred so I called the office to get a refund. That was April 5th....with me calling FOUR more times to find out the status of my refund check, Lori and Summer informed me that the check that supposedly was mailed on 4/25 somehow got filed and that a new check would go out today. Lets just say Im not holding my breath.UPDATE: Boy did Mike Merritt make good. I received a phone call from Summer apologizing for not returning my calls and not making sure I got my refund. Mike was not aware there was a problem until I posted this; he immediately sent a check to me by Courier. Now THATs the Merritt Heating and Air that Ive loved over 5 years of having them service our equipment!!

The young lady that answered the phone was very knowledgeable and the service man that can out was efficient and cleaned everything thing up. Do NOT use this company! I had a service call Tuesday for my dripping A/C and was told someone would contact me Wednesday to replace a broken part. Until then, I was told not to run the A/C. Well it is now Thursday night and no call. Even better- my landlord has informed me they cant come until Tuesday to replace the part! They didnt even try to relay this information to me. No offer of help to patch the issue or make my A/C mostly functional until the repair can be made. It is almost 100 degrees out! It is a safety hazard not to run the A/C. So now I am stuck hoping some pans catch the drips enough so I dont get extensive water/mold damage. I am also highly allergic to mold! Their emergency service is a joke and answering service is highly umprofessional- good luck getting help when you need it like I do! I would give 0 stars if I could. Do NOT use.
I liked Mike Meritt as a person and bouht the unit from him rather than a major company because he promoted a 10 year warrenty on parts and one year on labor. After 8 years our blower went out. The repair tech said we were not under warranty for any parts but he had a part on the truck that was a one speed although our blower was a 3 spead but the unit he had on the truck would work just fine. My husband asked what the difference was-the answer was 500 dollars. If we wanted what we previously had, he would have to go back to the shop to get one. My husband agreed to allow him to put the single motor blower on . Last summer, our unit never stpped running. My husband feared it would blow the compresser out.We used a coupon and hired another AC company to clean our vents. My husband ask if we could set the speed up any to stop it from running constantly. He was told that the part was not a Carrier part, it was the cheapest universal part made and had only one setting. I called Mikes office and told them that we had the 10 year warranty sticker on the unit and had the warranty and aked if we should not have been covered with a like carrier part. His office called back to tell us that we never sent the warranty card in, and they would only cover us for 5 years. I always complete warranty cards within 2 days of purchase, just did one this week on a pole saw. If we had been given a card, on this large of a purchase, I would have completed it. I always register my products.. It is not in my package, not sure if I even received one, maybe the sticker was all that was provided. Even if I am 100% at fault, and tore the warranty in little peices (which I didnt), why put a substandard part in my unit that would cause it to wear out more quickly? Why not be honest and tell us it would never stop running? I am a Realtor and have recommended many customers to Mike over the years for AC units or repairs. I know most warranties are done on line currently, but if you complete one, make copies for your records as well. Oh yah, it could get lost in the mail and they still would not receive it. The only word I can say for this company isVery Disappointing.
This company takes advantage of the elderly, I highly recommend you call just about anyone else but them.Came out to the house of a 78 year old woman. Tells her there is a leak in her system they cant fix but its small so if she pays them to refill it it will last through the summer... Now this poor old lady cant survive FL weather in the middle of July without A/C so she agrees taking him on his word that her A/C will last through the summer and gives up 250 dollars of her very limited income. So he takes her money and refills the system he knows is leaking, long story short by that night 7 pounds of R22 Freon vented into our atmosphere and her A/C was not working again. She calls and calls mike merit and they promise to call her back and never do.... So finally she calls another A/C company and its up and running within two hours for the same price Mike Merritt charged her, this time with the leak easily fixed.

We called in for their fall A/C maintenance special in October. We were told that the earliest they could do it was Dec 22nd over 2 months out but they would still honor the discount so we made the appointment. Today, Dec 22nd, we get a call that the technician can not make it, and would we like to reschedule, we said no thank you. The service person put us on hold and came back saying he might be able to make it but might not be able to make the original 12-1 time frame. We get a call at 3pm saying they would indeed not be able to make it, so we canceled. Waited 2 months for a service, then had to wait around all day and still not get serviced. Last time we use this company.
Weve been customers of Merritt for almost 7 years and after needing a drain line moved Ive never been more appalled. We were charged $175 to move a PVC pipe. When asked why since the materials were at max $20 and it was 30 mins of work Mike stated its $116 an hour per tech at our home. Im not sure if we were price gouged because Im a women or because we are having a pool installed but its an unacceptable business practice.
On the 4th of July, Merritt Heating and Air saved the day... thank you SO much!!! Fast diagnosis and repair, VERY fair price, were back in holiday mode again!! A million thanks!!

$345 for one hour to clean the exposed fins of my A coil! And told they would charge over $600 to return and clean the lower portion? My disabled wife was home and had to deal with the tech and I believe was taken advantage of. And I was never told the price until after I returned from out of town. I will NEVER use this company again.
