We bought a vacuum 15 years ago from A-1 and it has worked great and still works. I wanted to change to a canister vacuum and purchased one today. So here is an unusual story. I recently had new carpet installed for which I purchased a new vacuum. When I used the vacuum the first time, its suction was so strong it would not move across my carpet. I called A1 vacuum to ask about this type of carpet and Joel not only knew what kind of vacuum I needed but when he found out the people I purchased the original vacuum from would not let me return it, he graciously took care of me. He took the vacuum I had purchased that wouldnt work on my carpet and traded it for what I needed as recommended by the carpet manufacturer. He kept saying all he wanted to do was be sure that I was happy and that you get the vacuum you need. We want to be sure that the vacuum works for you and your carpet and that youre happy. They exchanged the vacuum without questions or accusation. I would recommend the A1 vacuum company anytime as they have been nothing but kind, considerate and accommodating. They also knew which vacuum to recommend and I was so grateful to be able to make the exchange even though I had not purchased the original vacuum from them. Thank you A1, thank you Joel. He even followed up with a phone call to be sure I was satisfied. I will always do business with the A1 vacuum company in the future. I highly recommend them.

I have used A-1 Vacuum and Sewing twice in the last year. The first time I took an older sewing machine in that I had taken to a repair shop ran by the manufacturers. They told me they couldn’t repair it. I took it to A-1 and they repaired it. It runs as good as new. The second time I took my Serger in because I couldn’t get the stitch right The sewing machine repair man looked at it, fixed the tension and showed me how to thread it correctly. Great service.

These guys are very polite and timely. I dropped off my machine and was able to pick it up the next day. They are super helpful and very decently priced.

Great customer service - stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to fix my vacuum on my own. Showed up to A-1 and showed a picture of my vacuum and they gave me the things I needed. The only downside to me fixing my vacuum was that I didn’t know how to change the bag, HA! Took my vacuum and they showed me how to replace the bag in my vacuum because apparently my vacuum is the 1% of vacuums that uses a different bag. They’re helpful and great people to work with. Highly recommend stopping by or calling for all your vacuum needs.

I was having trouble with my machine and he was able to solve the problem on the spot - and at no charge. There skills in the sales area is GREAT they will sale you a good high quality Vacuum and they know what theryre talking about . However when it comes to having you vacuum serviced THEY NEED TO DO BETTER THIS AREA . When a vacuum is fully seviced it should be totally taken apart, washed inside and outside of vacuum, to make vacumm look like a some what new vacuum. Paint marks should also be removed and vacuum polished if custom wants vacuum to look brand new, new belts should also be put on for a vacuum that requires this, Brush Roller and Motor Bearing cleaned and reoilled or replaced if needs be, All New filters if airflow is rstricted or is full of carbon dust, and a new bag should also be put on. They do not do all of the things I just listed. All they do is change you filters ( sometimes they dont even do this), belts, bag, oil or change your brush roller and motor baerings . NOWHERE COMES GREAT part . After Joel the Manager saw this review He made things right by talking with the employee that did the work on the vacuum, and he also gave us a gift certificate for a free vacuum service . WAY TO GO JOEL. YOU WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND . I highly recommend A-1 Vacuum, and they have stores in Orem, Provo, and Spanish Fork for your convenience . THANKS AGAIN A-1 VACUUM YOU GUYS ARE GREAT .

I have been using a one vacuum and sewing for many years. I own a Simplicity vacuum along with a Rainbow. They always give me the best service and best price on repairs and periodical maintenance. Randy has been absolutely amazing in helping diagnose problems and giving me advice on what my best options are. I took my Sewing Machine in with a couple of issues. Randy was there and immediately started looking at the machine. Both issues were resolved within 15 minutes of arriving and didn’t require a full repair. Randy was kind, helpful, personable and sent us on our way with a machine that was now working and a thanks for coming in. Didn’t even charge me for his time.

My sewing machine stopped working. I brought it in expecting to leave it there to get worked on. He looked at it quickly and discovered that my husband, bless his heart, put the needle in wrong when he was using it. He fixed it right away. It works great. He didn’t even charge me. I’ll definitely come back if I have another issue. (And I’ll not let my husband use it without supervision. Haha.)

After a 3 week wait time at another shop, I was told that my old Bernina wasnt repairable. I was so sad because I have had it for over 40 years. I thought it wouldnt hurt to have a second opinion so I took it to A1 Sewing and Vacuum. After adjusting the belt and tightening 3 screws it ran perfectly!!! Wow!! Thanks for saving my favorite machine!!

Top-notch customer service. We took our vacuum in and the owner (I think) was so helpful and insightful. He basically told us wed be wasting money to try and fix our vacuum and to just buy a new one. With zero pressure to buy from his store I might add. He could have just told us the cost to fix it and taken our money, but these people care more about being honest and building strong relationships with people in the community. Thank you A-1!

I have had my vacuum cleaner serviced here three times. Once was no charge (warranty service), once there was a legitimate problem (broken motor blade or something) which was fixed quickly at a fair price, and most recently, the hose had something clogged in it which I couldnt find but A-1 was able to diagnose and fix for free. I ended up replacing all the filters (which were filthy and needed replacing anyway) just because I wanted to compensate A-1 for their excellent service. Super friendly people. Fast service. Fair prices. Five stars? You betcha. I wont take my vacuum cleaner anywhere else...

We brought them a vacuum that we inherited that turns out was from a defunct company. They found us multiple parts, helped us install them, and just all around gave us a great experience. Everyone I worked with was a professional, knowledgeable, and yet still managed to treat you like family. Highly recommended!

Randy was awesome! He took time trying to help me over the phone. He was patient and kind. When I brought it in, he fixed the machine right then in about a minute, so he did not charge me. Then he showed my three year-old his dog and let her walk him on her leash. He says he tries to treat everyone like family. He was awesome! No wonder customers kept coming in and out while I was there!

What a great experience- I came in upset my sewing machine wasn’t working - he started looking at it and said- “it’s your bobbin” it was bent- he fixed it and sent me on my way- so kind and generous!!

I came in to get my sewing machine fixed (makes sense). Their amazing gentleman (and he is a gentleman in the best sense of the word) spotted the problem immediately. Cheap thread was my problem not a faulty machine! To be sure he told me what I needed and when I returned checked it out to be sure. He could have taken full advantage of my naivety and charged me a ton for “fixing” my machine. Instead he charged for the bobbin he replaced and educated me about my machine! Highly recommend!!!

I have been going to A-1 Vacuum for all of my vacuum and sewing machines needs for years. We purchased a simplicity from them many years ago. Then we made the big mistake of purchasing a Kirby from a door to door sales man. My husband and I both used it and it works OK. Then recently we purchased a Simplicity X9.10. I love this machine and my husband always gets the simplicity out when he vacuums. If you are in the market for a vacuum I highly recommend checking out a Simplicity at A-1 Vacuum. The staff is very knowledgeable. Ask for Karen, she is the kindest, most patient and knowledgeable one there.

I took my sewing machine in because it still had problems after supposedly being repaired elsewhere. Turns out, it was a small problem they were able to fix right away. Super knowledgeable and very nice. I would definitely recommend them!

Karen was great! I took in my vacuum that wasnt working. she was able to diagnose what was wrong and give me an estimate on the cost to fix it. I also explained that at my house there are 3 girls (so lots of hair) and 3 cats (so even more hair). I asked if the vacuum I had was even a good vacuum for my household. she told me it wasnt and was able to explain *why*. she then showed me some vacuums there at the store that might work and explained why they were better equipped to handle the hair load at my house. I ended up getting a new vacuum there and she even gave me a discount on the price for trading in my broken/old vacuum. She was also able to give me advice and tips for using and taking care of vacuums in general. Ill definitely be going back!(P.S. I added the before and after pics of my carpet after using the vacuum I bought to the public photos for the store.)

I came here thinking I was going to get overcharged for a Singer sewing machine, I came here thinking they were going to tell me that it was a special order, I came here thinking they were going to tell me the part that I was missing is really hard to find, I came here thinking they were going to tell me all the things that were wrong with my machine. I was wrong about all of that. my machine was missing a total of three parts which he had on hand, he got my machine together and let me know what a great machine I have, ended up spending a whole lot less than I could have imagined. I totally recommend this place!

We have been going to A-1 for over 10 years. I have bought two sewing machines and had an old one fixed. We just bought our new vacuum from them and had the best service ever! He looked at my old vacuum and had it working for me in minutes.They are easy to find on State street. We love their service and quality products. My husband and I purchased two vacuum cleaners from here––one for our house and one for our business. We love the vacuums and have been so impressed with how they clean. The customer service at A-1 was great too, and we feel like we were well taken care of.

Just went in to see if they had the vacuum bags I needed for my vacuum. I was unsure they would since the brand of my vacuums store is over in another part of Orem and they are super expensive so I walked in sure enough they had them and were half the price! No complaints on the vacuum and sewing machine repairs theyve done for us. The owner is very (too) friendly. If you like getting down to business without the chat you might get uncomfortable here.

We were extremely pleased with their service. After the initial inspection, we thought it might just need a new belt. When we went in to pick it up, Karen helped us find the belt we needed, and even did some trouble shooting with us to figure out a brush was needed as well. We purchased the parts and she even helped us throw them on right there in the lobby. 25 bucks later, our vacuum is as good as new. Their customer service is awesome, wed go back again in a heartbeat.

If Google would let me give a bonus 6th star, I would. I took my Dyson in because it wasnt getting any suction and was expecting to drop it off and pick it up in a few days when it was fixed. Not only was I greeted upon entering, the tech dropped to the floor and pulled my vacuum apart right there, found and fixed the problem, cleaned it up and had it back to me in 5 minutes. Not only that - but when I asked what I owed he said it was on the house. Incredible service, wonderful experience. I highly recommend!

I had tried for an hour to fix an attachment to our vacuum then finally admitted it was beyond my ability. Took it in to A1 to get their advice and within 4 minutes they had it repaired. Such a friendly place with great customer service.

I never thought I would reach a point of maturity where I would need a vacuum repair guy, but these folks seriously know their stuff. I borrowed an old Kirby from my mom which wasn’t cleaning. We couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. Finally went to take it in for repair and within 20 seconds they had it up and running. Didn’t charge me a dime! We’re moving to Saratoga Springs soon but I will 100% make the drive down to Orem for any vacuum replacement or repair I need from here on out. Thanks A-1!

Do not take your vacuum here for repairs!-Pushy to buy their vacuums-Vacuum picked up dirty and wet-Would not discuss refund to make it rightMy husband sucked up some water with our Dyson. From the moment I dropped it off the very chatty man kept trying to sell me on a simplicity vacuum. I have a very busy 18 month old running around the store and just wanted my vacuum repaired quickly as I had guests coming and needed it to clean.The worst was when I went to pick it up. The woman told me how bottom of the line my Dyson was and how it doesnt even pick up sand. When they brought out my vacuum it was as dirty was it was when I dropped it off! Im not exaggerating when I say every part of my vacuum still had dust and dirt. The filters easily had dust rubbed off, the floor roller still had dust bunnies, the canister (employee said he pressure washed it himself) was so dirty you couldnt see inside and I could easily wipe dirt off with my fingers. The woman took it back and partially cleaned the canister and said to just let it sit to dry. I showed her other parts that hadnt been touched and that I wanted a refund. She then said that I could turn the vacuum on to dry-a complete contradiction to what I had been told earlier about not wanting to get water into the motor and circuit board. I left with a STILL dirty and wet vacuum-the exact same when I dropped it off days ago. I explained that I wasnt happy multiple times and that I wanted a refund. She said they spent time on it and wouldnt refund my money. I have never been more frustrated and unhappy. Worst $50 and hour and a half I have ever spent.

Took my vacuum in because it had lost suction. They told me they would call if repairs cost more than $90. They didnt. When I went to pick it up, they discounted my fee so I paid $86. Not good enough in my opinion. I never would have authorized repairs of that amount as my vacuum is fairly old and not high quality. To make matters worse, the repair they did involved replacing the beater bar with a bar that doesnt quite fit my machine. My vacuum now shreds belts and I have had to replace the belt 3 times in 6 six weeks. Both times I took it in, they replaced the belt, told me it was my fault and the fault of the beater bar manufacturer and didnt look at anything else on the vacuum. Im so frustrated because they wont admit they made a mistake by doing an expensive repair I didnt authorize and they wont admit that they caused a problem with the belt and beater bar. I will never give them my business again.

I was new to sewing, teaching myself with a hand-me-down machine, and I was having troubles with it. So I came into here to see what was wrong with my machine, and the man who helped me was extremely condescending. He made a comment about my age and I dont usually get offended about that because I look younger than I am and people assume that all the time, but because of the tone he used, I was annoyed and left feeling very embarrassed. Employees should not make their customers feel stupid! My problem was easy to fix, but because of the way he talked down to me, I will never take my business there again.

Theyve had my vacuum for over 3 months with absolutely no progress! they never call with updates- I have to keep calling them to find out whats going on. every time I do, nobody knows whats going, because apparently only 1 guy in that place is allowed to touch the vacuums and hes never there! they keep blaming it on Hoover, the employees are sassy and rude, and overall terrible customer service. dont waste your time or money here.

Today I took my Kirby vaccuum to A-1 Vacuum and Sewing, on State Street in Orem, to fix the cord. I was very impressed with the friendly and speedy service. They had the parts I needed and the vacuum was fixed and ready in a few minutes and they are able to order any parts for your Kirby even if they dont have them right there in the store. I will start getting my Kirby bags from them also instead of Amazon. I didntknow that they were sold right here in Orem. I think it is important to support our local businesses . A-1 has been around since 1974. Lets support them so they can continue to provide the customized and reliable service they have provided for all these years.

Took my shampooer there. They had it for over a week. I picked it up last Friday and spent 80$ to have it cleaned and fixed. Doesnt spray or sick up the water. Brought it home and finally got to use it after a long/busy weekend and it STILL DOESNT WORK. I will be calling in the morning and asking for a refund. Incredibly disappointed. 2 thumbs down!
