This was our first service visit to Orinda motors, but it will not be our last! Everything from our initial phone call to our ongoing communication with Tara was excellent. The work was done on time and performed very professionally. The cost for our work was very fair. No more commuting to Walnut Creek for our Mercedes Benz maintenance. We could’ve happier. What a refreshing experience after such a difficult ongoing year.

Very knowledgeable front office, on all makes of cars, who correspond directly with the service technicians, providing a clear explanation of the issue and necessary remedies. There may be lower-priced service shops around, but value is more than price. Orinda Motors provides a high-quality service in a pleasant manner, providing confidence the job will be done correctly.
After stalling on the freeway, Elaine made the process SO much less stressful than I thought it would be. Being able to rent a car there as soon as my car was towed was wonderful! It is hard to find an honest shop, but now I have found a hidden gem that is!
Orinda Motors is currently restoring a 1984 Mercedes-Benze 380SL that I purchased. Im extremely pleased with their service, knowledge, and communication. Specifically, Ive been working with Hans (MB specialist). As issues/repairs are discovered, Hans explains exactly whats wrong, why and when it needs fixed (mission critical, down the road, only if it bothers me), potential problems with not fixing it, and cost. There are never any surprises and the communication is always great. I always receive an email and a phone call about the work. I highly recommend Orinda Motors and will continue to use them for future work.
Ive been going to Orinda motors for many years. They are the best. I took my Subaru in as a light was on saying there was something wrong. I spoke to Jamie who said he would check it out. It turned out to be elusive. After numerous tests, he found there was something wrong with the transmission. He contacted Subaru to see if it was covered under the warranty. Yes it was. He went above and beyond to solve my car problem. Thank you, Jamie.

Had rental car on premises (which drove better than mine). They even washed my car.There are some places in this business that you wonder about re: repairs. This place aint one of those. You will realize that they are good from the first handshake.
I appreciate the honesty and straightforward explanation that I received from the representatives from Orinda Motors today.I decided not to have them conduct an expensive repair to our Van because there were no immediate safety concerns. They could have lied to me and tried to up-sell a repair— but instead they provided an honest evaluation of the potential repair and let me decide (even though it resulted in a loss of revenue for them.)This service center was originally recommended by a neighbor and I fully concur with that very positive evaluation. It’s extremely difficult to find an honest and reliable garage anywhere.I’ll definitely be using them for my future service needs.-jrw-
Called to get an estimate on repairs for diagnostics I had already got done. I let them know Im a UC Berkeley student and Im low-income, so Im calling around to shops to get an estimate on the EXACT repair I need to get done. The lady on the phone was very condescending and said that even though I know whats broken (1- because I can feel my seatbelt is broken, and 2- I already got diagnostics done), I need to pay $200+ so they can do THEIR diagnostics. They are a complete crooks
Referred by AAA, HORRIBLE experience!! They kept pushing their rental car, communication was limited and they charged 100% over dealer! When confronted about our 1 and only repair, Orinda Motors refused to listen only stating weve been here XX years and were great. Would never recommend or return this repair shop, also advised AAA. 1/2020**AAA recommendations are paid for by the business as a marketing tool.

I was super bummed when the day after Christmas my car stopped working on the 24 freeway at 10pm...yay 😒... Luckily I have amazing people in my life that were able to help pick me up and get my car towed to a near by mechanic in Orinda, Orinda Motors. I was a little stressed when they said it was going to cost $150 just for a diagnostic test. I thought this was going to be expensive. BUT today I picked up my car and it was easy for them to fix so they only charged me $75 total!!! What a relief and a blessing! Orinda Motors is an honest mechanic shop. They offer lots of other services like regular maintenance and detailing, they service electric cars, and have night drop in case you need to tow your car after hours... Super awesome place! I wanted to make sure my car was ready for a weekend trip I had planned, so I brought it in for tires, a full inspection, and for them to take a look at my A/C which wasnt blowing cold air. My work requires me having a car, so having auto work done is always a bit inconvenient, but thankfully I was able to borrow one from a friend. To make sure Orinda Motors had all the time they needed, I dropped my car off at 8 am and then picked it up at the end of the day.They said everything was completed, charged me for their work, and I left to begin my drive home. Immediately I notice that the A/C still doesnt work, which is odd, because on the invoice they gave me it specifically states that they tested the A/C to be blowing at 40 degrees F after their work had been done.So lucky me, I have to bring my car back in the next day, borrow another car for work, and hope they fix it this time. After all, they had charged me over $300 for this specific fix. At least I had planned things so there was one more day before my trip -- I wouldnt bring my car to these guys if youre thinking you can get your car fixed in one go and get on with your life.So what was the result the second time? Apparently, what they had said they did for the A/C (which was refilling the refrigerant, then recharging it) hadnt been done at all! And now I wonder how it tested out at 40 degrees before they gave my car back to me. Did they actually test it with a thermometer? Seems more like they just forged it for the invoice.Now, I became fearful. What else they had said they worked on and charged me for, but didnt actually do? With A/C, I can easily tell when its not working. But theres a lot of parts inside a car that I cant easily cross-check after I take it out of the shop. Thats why we want an auto shop we can trust, right? The whole trade is predicated on the notion that what they say they are doing, they actually do.And for the inconvenience of me having to bring my car back the next day, for another full day in the shop, the manager has the gall to offer me a free oil-change. I just about lost it. I had spent over $1,000 with them, put up with their incompetence, and they offer me what -- a $60 value? Would my oil even get changed if I left it with them? Ill never know, because Im not going back.

Took my car in TWICE to fix an intermittent overheating/idling/sputtering (when driving below 40 mph) issue specifically after cold starts. Orinda Motors performs basic, textbook diagnostic tests for overheating in the cooling system but CANNOT troubleshoot AT ALL. I do not think it is an issue with the technicians, but the fact that Ken (manager) does NOT listen and gets defensive when questions are asked. As an engineer, it frustrates me to take my car to an auto repair shop and leave with an empty tank of gas after having them run my car over 100 miles and determine NOTHING. And then Ken carelessly mentioned as Im leaving: the overheating may due to some wiring but they couldnt figure out which wire it was (This was AFTER I requested them to check for any connectivity issues between the fan and/or temperature sensor--and Ken responded that would require to take the engine apart and a lot of work The engine? Really?) Why didnt they check if the fans were working when my car was overheating in the first place? No surprise, his answer does not make a lick of sense. In summation: Ken believes if his ONE set of diagnostics show negative results, there is no problem. Dont go here if you want effective communication of the mechanics in your car. You will get a rehearsed, textbook answer. This guy doesnt even know what a sensor is.

After disappointing mileage out of the original, low-quallity tires on my Prius, I suspected that the dealer was setting the tire pressure too low and not properly aligning the car. I visited the Orinda Tire Center to discuss what to do. I ordered better tires on the internet and had them shipped to the Tire Center. I had the tires mounted, balanced, and the car aligned. I get free monthly checks on air pressure and received a discount on my subsequent routine alignment. I am a very satisfied customer. My tire wear has drastically improved thanks to the Tire Center.
