Over the years the customer service has become increasingly arrogant. The exams go well but the staff is so sure of themselves that they dont take the time out to learn when there are new changes with insurance companies that have been used for years so for example they will tell you that something is not covered or insurance company wont allow a certain thing when in fact I am able to do it any other time at other locations but they just dont know how.Additionally their covid restrictions are arbitrary. They just dont make any sense. They are operate as if their influx of business is so dense that its necessary to schedule everyone for every single service including request that take less than 30 seconds to complete.The overall vibe is just something Im not willing to subject myself to anymore. I found several other eye care places that are just as professional and pleasant and more thorough and kind in general.Many times businesses will say that they want your opinion and ways that they can improve but the reality is they dont really want any complaints. In total myself and my extended family and friends are eight total people that will no longer do business here.They can read this review and consider my opinion unimportant but over time as they gain new patients they will also lose many long time patients. Im sure of it unless they change.

Dr. Moshe Schwarz made me feel so much better after a scary medical emergency. His exam was very thorough and he explained my condition clearly and compassionately. The staff got me in right away. Every member of the staff was kind and efficient. I felt well taken care of.

The doctors were very nice and informative but I can’t help but be annoyed at my experience over all. I have a very thorough exam, on 7/1, which I left pleased with; however, I took my prescription elsewhere to get my actual glasses. I waited a week for my new glasses just to not be able to wear them due to being given the completely wrong prescription. I called Monday 7/19 to inform them I received the wrong prescription. Rather than squeezing me in or providing any urgent solution…I had to wait until Thursday 7/22 to come into the office. Upon arrival and further review it was confirmed I was sent with the wrong prescription. I was offered an apology and given the correct prescription with overall only took about 10 min (meaning I could’ve probably gotten squeezed in on that monday). Now the biggest frustration is once I took my glasses back to where I originally purchased them, I was told it would take another 10-12 days to get them back. Imagine being excited for new glasses (my current ones are broken and had to be super glued due to this inconvenience) and having to wait almost another two weeks at no fault to your own. I understand mistakes happen but it doesn’t change the inconvenience this has caused me. So if you do choose to get and exam and/or purchases glasses from here, have them double check the prescription to avoid the same thing happening to you.

My daughter and I love coming here. Our doctor is hands down the best. He’s always professional but at the same time make you feel very comfortable. He spends as much time with you explaining your condition and treatment in ways that you can understand. We always had a very good experience with everyone. This place was unbelievable! The only eye care business I could find for my 5 year old son to have an eye exam(per pediatrician) and that took our insurance. I had my first eye exam(age 45) as well. They were amazing, from appointments, intake, thru both exams and the lovely lady that helped us pick frames was EXTREMELY patient with my very uneducated self, I had no clue what she was talking about but was more than willing to explain. We are still waiting for our glasses, appt was a few days ago, 10 days for the order, but wanted to ahout out my praises for an amazing experience....Dr. Swartz was phenomenal !! Thank you ALL

First off Dr. Schwartz is awesome! Such a great experience. He’s really gets the prescription right and I like the fact that he takes the time to get to know you, and if something during the eye exam is iffy he will go back and fix it until it’s perfect. I am a very complex case and I’ve seen a lot of optometrists before. I was very impressed by the top notch and very hiigh end equipment at this practice.. I’ve never seen such sophisticated equipment elsewhere. It just shows that Dr. Schwartz wants the best for his patients and he invests in top quality equipment. I visited for myself and for my 9 year old son. Dr. Schwartz was excellent with me and my child; however the front desk manager, Akina, failed to inform me that the Crizal Prevencia option for Blue Light Blocking included a highly visible purple tint. She was adamant to assist the sales person I was assigned and showed me all of my options except for the actual purple tint color. She also informed me that my insurance covered the cost when I was charged an additional $70 for my lenses and $70 for my son’s lenses. When I received my glasses, I called and asked about the purple. Akina then informed me that they could reorder the lenses without the purple tint. When I called Akina to request a refund of the money I paid outside of insurance, she insisted that she informed me about the purple tint at the time of the appointment. She also stated that “my recollection” was incorrect. I am deeply disturbed especially since Akina told me that the doctor does not speak to patients about billing issues and refused to put me into contact with the office manager. I was misinformed and now they are not taking responsibility for those actions. Highly disappointed and will not be returning after my lenses are replaced. No one deserves to be treated in this manner after a positive visit. I will be emailing the office manager, Jodi to file a formal complaint.

Nice and neat eye clinic, well equipped, staffs are highly professional and respectful from front desk to every other attending staffs kind and welcoming. Dr. Schwartz is one of the most caring and effective doctors Ive ever come across. My mom is visiting from another state with subpar insurance and mediocre eye care. Dr. Schwartz immediately addressed the issues and healed her ailment in a matter of days. Unlike her doctors at home who shes been visiting for over a year, he didnt just prescribe her more medicine. Instead, he zeroed in on the cause and didnt let her limited insurance become a hindrance to helping her. We are eternally grateful that good people like Dr. Schwartz exist and we found him thanks to Google. Thank you to his amazing staff as well - they are all gems and so kind!

Smartest diagnostic workup I have EVER received for my ocular surface disorder! For the first time in my long history of dry eye disease, I have an evidence-based treatment plan in which I have every reason to place my confidence and commitment. Doctors and staff at Dr. Schwartzs practice are all, moreover, really wonderful professionals.

So happy that I went to Dr. Schwartzs office. I didnt think there was much more that could be done for my dry eyes, but he offered a couple of solutions other offices did not. My eyes have felt better since switching to him. Additionally, he is very caring. Twice now I have needed to reach him after hours and he was both responsive and very helpful.

We came to EyeSymmetry at the strong recommendation of an existing client to determine whether my 16-year-old daughter could improve her eyesight with the expert treatment Dr. Schwartz is known for. He recommended so-called Ortho-K contact lenses, which are worn at night and allow vision without glasses or contacts during the day, as the optimal treatment.We proceeded with the $3000 Ortho-K treatment, which appeared promising initially. However, after several check-ups, it emerged that the vision correction did not approach 20/20 vision, and while Dr. Schwartz explained that all eyes are different and it might take longer in some cases, this was a blow to our expectations. With the funds for the treatment already expended, my daughter continued using her Ortho-K lenses but never reached 20/20 vision under Dr. Schwartzs care. We then relocated to Germany, where we found a new provided with Dr. Schwartzs help. This is where we learned that our trust in Dr. Schwartzs work may have been misplaced.My daughter received a new eye exams at our new provider (an optometrist with a specialty in contact lenses, including Ortho-K), who immediately voiced incredulity at the diagnosis and treatment proposal we had received from Dr. Schwartz. At his recommendation, we also visited an eye specialist (an MD specializing in eye care) for a second opinion, and to confirm his numbers. These providers operate under the same standards as Dr. Schwartz, we provided Dr. Schwartzs diagnostic paperwork, but they are licensed in Germany.In the case of the Ortho-K treatment, there appear to have been three diagnostic lapses on Dr. Schwartzs part.(1) Both providers attested that, in terms of the observed myopia, the Ortho-K lenses provided by Dr. Schwartz significantly overcorrected the left eye. With the correction by these lenses, myopia correction was insufficient and would not have allowed successful completion of the stringent vision test for the German driving license. This means that the correction was far worse than we had been led to expect, and driving after using Ortho-K by night would have been considered dangerous under German law.(2) It was also determined that the existing astigmatism was corrected reasonably well but that overall too little vision correction was possible (to ca. 20/40 on the right, a little better on the left), and that better options were available. Both practitioners determined these issues independently, under consultation of the prescriptions and lenses from Dr. Schwartz.(3) Lastly, there was an issue with how the lenses were constructed. Based on eye shape, the correction was skewed to the left in the left eye, whereas it should have been centered to be effective.Aside from the vision issues, another issue was raised. Whereas the application of Ortho-K technology is good in general, in my daughters case it was at the very limit of its usefulness (myopia combined with a high level of astigmatism). According to the published parameters (which are the same in Germany and the U.S.), treatment with Ortho-K lenses is inappropriate with this vision, let alone optimal. Hard contacts would have been a cheaper and more appropriate solution.While it is possible that Dr. Schwartzs diagnosis and treatment plan were established according to proper optometric standards, it appears that our repeat visits with significantly less than 20/20 vision should have raised a red flag. While Dr. Schwartz has doubtlessly helped many people, his record with us appears to be sub-par.

We turned to EyeSymmetry after a friend recommended Dr. Schwartz, who had helped him with severe keratoconus. We were hoping that Dr. Schwartz could improve my wifes strongly astigmatic vision. To our surprise, Dr. Schwartz diagnosed her with keratoconus and proposed the use of Sclera lenses, which are quite expensive and for which a special permission from the insurance company was needed. The process to approve medical necessity with the insurance company (keratoconus is something covered by regular medical insurance even without special vision insurance) took some time, and the request was eventually denied just before we relocated to Germany.In Germany, we visited a provider referred to us by Dr. Schwartz without delay, given that keratoconus is a progressive disorder. During the first visit we showed Dr. Schwartzs diagnosis and were completely taken aback when the provided explained that the diagnosis was false. There were no symptoms of keratoconus in my wifes eyes, and even with the passing of time, eyes would not change to that extent. As a consequence, Sclera lenses would have been completely inappropriate. At the suggestion from the German optometrist, we obtained a second opinion from an MD specializing in eye care (i.e., not an optometrist but a specialist physician), and it was confirmed that no keratoconus was present. These providers operate under the same standards as Dr. Schwartz, we provided Dr. Schwartzs diagnostic paperwork, but they are licensed in Germany. My wife now wears hard contact lenses with success, which took several fittings and readjustments to get to fit and correct her vision properly, including grinding the edges of the contacts down for a more comfortable fit.It therefore appears that Dr. Schwartz misdiagnosed my wifes vision problems. When I requested a statement, Dr. Schwartz provided only platitudes about trying to improve patients lives and changes in vision over time, ending with, I have always developed a relationship with my patients that include trust and partner to deliver a successful outcome. You obviously lack the trust that is necessary to continue our relationship. It appears that the lack of trust is the problem, not the diagnosis. Dr. Schwartz has doubtlessly helped a lot of people, but we cannot help but wonder how many encounter issues like ours.

This place is a rip-off! They wanted to charge me $450 for lenses for eyeglasses. The same lenses, with the high index option, anti-glare, and scratch resistant options cost $120 at Costco. The optometrist here is very arrogant and condescending. Gave me a derogatory look when I told him my last eyeglasses were from Costco. They have an extremely small collection of affordable frames. Designer frames have super duper markup here. AVOID!!!

This physician is amazing, so knowledgeable and kind. The office staff are so pleasant and gentle in their treatment. My daughter is a young patient but they treat her with tenderness and respect. We highly recommend this office.

Lots of positive reviews here but the most recent hits the nail on the head for me. Doctor was excellent and knowledgeable and shared lots of info with me about my eyes. Unfortunately, the VERY hard sell came after that. Specialized contact lenses for about $500 for 6 months. Not including $260 for the fitting fee, or the $118 for the exam fee. I only paid the $118 since I could not believe the rest of the charges and left without lenses or prescription info. Sad because I would have like being a patient there, but unfortunately I felt more like an ATM than a patient.

Entire visit felt like more of a sales pitch than a doctor visit. Hard sell on special lenses and vitamins. I get that perhaps the lenses are the best and the vitamins work but when most of the appointment with a Dr. feels like a sales pitch something isnt right. Also unorganized.

This practice is well run, kind and polite. We are always told that we can call at any time for support or assistance with my daughters contacts. The change in her vision, in such a short time, is nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend this practice, provider, and Ortho-K eye system.

Best place to get your eye examinations. Really giving it a 4.5 because of the cost of the glasses and extras involved in the purchase of glasses. But great hours, friendly staff, clean environment, I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

They were very professional and child friendly and I would recommend them to anyone for eye care.

I have been with Eye Semmentry Vision Center for 5 years. Dr. Schwartz and his staff are remarkable. I love talking with them. They are so warm and welcoming and the service is top notch. Eye Semmentry has a variety of nice eyewear and great prices. You want those glasses to look fabulous on your face? Head on over there in Owings Mills and you will not be disappointed.

Doctor Schwartz takes the time and makes the effort to explain your results to you. The entire staff are helpful & curteous and they also accept kids. I would like to see them offer additonal brands of glasses like Vogue, Calvin Klein, Columbia, 9 west, etc. However, all in all a great experience, & look forward to returning.

I will no longer waste my time here. Literally a waste of time. This is my second round of annual appointments with this office. First round I experienced similar inconveniences but nothing so bad that I wasn’t going to try again. My initial eye exam appointment this year was Feb 19 2019. My first pair of contacts came in and I had my fitting appointment on March 14. At this time I directly asked the staff, “To confirm, the remaining three pair of contacts will be ordered now and I can pick them up next time?” I was told “yes.” My third appointment was April 2...no contacts. They said there was miscommunication regarding the contacts being ordered, but they will now be ordered and could be shipped directly to my home in 5-7 business days. 11 business days later I call the office and they check, stating that one eye was backordered but the company did not inform them. It should only be 3-5 more business days. If this is true, it will be about April 24 when I finally receive my full order of contacts. Feb 19 to April 24; a two month process to get contacts. I have had specialty contact lenses for 17 years now. This lapse in time and required three visits did not occur with my previous doctor who was also fitting me for speciality contact lenses.

Wish I could give zero stars. This place is absolute trash. Terrible staff and an EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL doctor. They are super unorganized and un-knowledgeable. I was passed off from one staff person to the next throughout my visit, and none of them knew what was going on. The Dr walked in and out of my exam room multiple times leaving me to address other customers. He also made many inappropriate comments throughout our conversation. The staff even let me leave the office before the doctor could come back and explain my results to me! They called me back begging for me to return so the Dr could review my file. Even then, the Dr could not give me their full attention and explain the findings about a POTENTIALLY SERIOUS ISSUE. I left the office knowing that something was wrong with my eyes and that I needed a specialist, but had 0 idea what my condition was called and what it meant other than this could lead to blindness. I had to hound the staff to send me a copy of my patient file to get some semblance of an idea of what happened during this visit, which is something every patient has a right to and should leave with a copy of!!! After two weeks, I finally received a summary which explained more within it than the Dr could even tell me at the visit. I was left worrying for weeks until i finally got this file and reviewed it myself to see what my condition was. ABSURD!

Made my son appointment before Covid. Had to reschedule came to the appointment only to get told we having issues with my insurance company and they called the wrong number. I just received a message confirming my appointment. I will never go back to the Owings mills eye symmetry again!!!
