Good, honest service with up front contact regarding service. They found a problem and called regarding what I wanted done which was a change from past shops. I wish Id found them sooner for the repairs I needed.
Best service around! Super helpful and went out of their way to help us. Would recommend to anyone, especially for Evenrude motors.
Smart team and they know the Evinrude products like the back of their hands.. always willing to help, great communication, and just super friendly. If you want a fair price and it done right, go to Sutherland Marine!!
Chris and his crewAre always friendly and know there EvinrudesKeep up the good work guys
I called at the end of business on Friday. Had an error code which they recognized over the phone. Drove and met with them. They had it ready in an hour. They let me leave the boat with them until Monday. They locked it up in there storage yard with 2 big dogs. Super great guys. They know Evinrude
No bones service, up front pricing. Good local business and man do they know Evinrude E-TECs. Jesse, Chris and their staff are honest, hard working and reliable. They care about their customers and it shows. I am now a customer for life!!! Highly recommend this shop!!!!
These guys are real professionals. We spent thousands at several other shops with no success to fix an ongoing issue. A boat builder in the area strongly recommended we try Sutherland. I am so glad we did. As long as I own an Evinrude, Ill be a customer of Sutherland. Our issue was a complicated one. It took several weeks to figure out. Jesse and the other guys at Sutherland worked hard, were honest, exceptionally fair when it came to billing, and got our boat in excellent running order. It is now about a year later. For the first time since weve owned the boat (4 years) I can confidently take it out. Im not being towed in every trip like in the past when other shops had fixed the issue. If I would have just brought my boat to Sutherland in the first place it would have saved me thousands. Not to mention nearly taking a huge loss by selling a non running boat.
Them the good ol.boys over there. Tighten you right on up.
I am not sure why there are not any recent reviews here as I have had several people recommend I come here for parts and service.Rob took the time to help me out with my issues and did not hold back any info. Thanks guys
Great experience! These guys are honest and stick to their word. Jessie is a great mechanic and dialed in my boat well under the estimate. Rob is very knowledgeable and helped save me money and time.If you need a boat worked on in Pinellas then this is the place.
Recently took my boat here after I was getting a No oil light on my dashboard and was kicking it into safety mode... I called Sutherland marine to see if it was something they could fix... spoke with Chris on the phone and he was very confident that he could fix the problem so I decided to take it in to get looked at. Met with Jesse when I got there and explained the problems I was facing with my 90hp E-Tec and he was very knowledgeable about the motor. I was told there was a two and a half week turn around time for service... after about day 5 I received a call and was told what they found wrong and what needed to be replaced, as soon as parts were available they installed it promptly and I was able to have the boat back before the 2 week mark. Friendly staff, quick and affordable service, will definitely return for future service!
I have been to Sutherland Marine for service two times for mechanical work on my boat. I had good experiences both times. The service manager Rob was good to work with in terms of scheduling and customer service. Rob and both of the service technicians (I do not recall their names) I worked with were very good at explaining all the details of their mechanical review of my boat and motor. My impression was that they are very knowledgeable about the motors that they service, including all the OEM specifications, and general operational safety as it relates to your boat.I saw one previous negative review on here and I do not think it is an accurate reflection of Sutherland Marine. I hope my boat does not need any major service (and no boat owner would), but if it does I would take it back to Sutherland Marine for service.
I want to start out by saying that I have been a long time boat owner, have been to various Evinrude certified shops, and Sutherland is my top choice in the Tampa Bay area. Its a family owned business staffed with incredibly honest and hard working people.I have had my boat in for a variety of unrelated reasons and every time they have successfully diagnosed and fixed the problem. They do a great job explaining what the situation is, presenting options available and providing recommendations.
Always perfect service.
These guys are outstanding after multiple attempts by our marina mechanic to get our boat up and running these guys were able to diagnose everything and get it back to running just like new, Jesse is awesome and provides trustworthy advise and very fair and competitive estimates. thanks again
Spoke to Chris on phone regarding my outboard . They had part I needed in stock and Chris was very helpful . Definitely will be back !
Honest, dependable and just do what they say theyll do..what else needs to be said..
Great prices and helpful staff!
Im a customer of Sutherland Marine. I read the review of Hyde above and sometimes I just shake my head about cyber bullies like this poster. Nothing said in Hydes review makes any sense. Owning a boat costs money. Get over it. Sutherland is a great shop and Chris is a great guy and over the years I have built confidence in their team.I love my 175 hp etecs with one exception, that being the tilt and trim systems. I feel the tilt and trim system is a design deficiency in etec... That said, Sutherland has advocated me well with the factory and has gotten a lot of support for me that was above what was owed or expected.
All the crew there are very responsible and friendly
These guys are awesome i had 3 different places recommend these guys and they lived up to their reputation thank you jesse and chris for being so honest and helpful
Chris the owner is so helpful.
I was referred to Chris at Sutherland Marine a about a year and a half ago, he seemed like an honest guy. Boy was that a huge and costly mistake.January 1st of 2013 I had his shop rebuild my carbs/reeds on my 150 Evinrude V6, clean out the bowls, steering hydraulics replaced and just go over the motor as it was leaking gas. I paid $942.00 for this service. I didnt use the boat very much in 2013.May of 2014 it wouldnt start so I brought it back to Sutherland Marine. I had the gas tank flushed, lower engine covers and bushings replaced, 100 hour service/tune up, spark plugs, water pump and much more for another $2078.00. It stalled out 12 times trying to pull away from the boat ramp. It wouldnt stay running. To make matters worse, they had broken the starboard fender on my trailer, when I asked the mechanic he said he never stepped on it, he used a ladder. Then there is Robb a mgr of sorts, he said no one touched the fender am I sure it wasnt broken when I brought it in? Seriously...Really this is where they wanted to go. Robb tried to damage the good fender by tugging and yanking, in an attempt to show just how brittle they were and how easy they break. Although no one at their shop had been near them.I had let her sit for several months unused in a shady area. It took several bottles of soft scrub with bleach, a kitchen sponge and lots of elbow grease to get them clean again. I scrubbed every inch of the trailer fenders and the boat over a long weekend. At 230 lbs, I had been climbing up and down that fender into and out of the boat for three days and they were solid as a rock. No signs of stress or marks at all, none and I was up close. Sutherland Marine wants me to believe that it broke by a miracle without anyone near it. Perhaps there are ghosts or gremlins that break boat parts when no one is aware. Chris the owner, had his son and Robb tell me that I could pay for 2 new fenders at cost $54.95 each (and yet online at local boatyards the very same fenders are $34.95, so apparently cost means plus an additional $20.00 each) and they would install them at no charge. Can you imagine you bring in your boat, they break it, lie to you about it and then want you to pay for what they broke. There were also lines now hanging down under the starboard gunnel that hadnt been hanging down before, more gremlins as according to Robb, as no one went near that area either.September 7th =/- I took her to the water, hit a shoal, dinged the prop and bent the prop shaft so I brought it back to them to recondition the prop and the prop shaft and to see why she wont idle. Another $1200.00.September 23rd 2014, I took the boat out to Lake Tarpon to test her out and the 1 foot wide lights on the back center of my trailer are smashed, perhaps they were brittle too.The engine ran well at high rpm, but stalled out at idle again, multiple times.Since Jan 1st of 2013 to Sept 22 of 2014 I have given Sutherland Marine a total of $4220.00 and have a boat motor that wont idle, new fenders that are the wrong size and have approx 4-6 inches of play so that when you step on them they tilt up and you fall off with pieces of wood underneath in an attempt to make them fit and smashed tail lights on my trailer. They hid the parts they had replaced under the center console in a cardboard box next to my batteries because...oh hell, I have no idea why. This might once have been a place to have a boat repaired, now its a place to dump large amounts of money for shoddy work.Best to give your cash to a local charity and do the work yourself or absolutely find another mechanic.Run dont walk from this business.
