Rented a cargo van to carry some 4x8 ft material. Roger and Jonathan were very helpful and the van was ready on time, clean, and in excellent condition. It only took about 5 minutes to do the paperwork and check out. Checking back in was just as easy. Their gas refill price was not much more than at the gas stations on the street so I just let them do it and did not waste my time refilling before I turned it in.

Whenever I need to rent a box truck I come here. The trucks are clean, reliable and the staff is always friendly. Prices are reasonable too

Truck had bald tires which blew out on the highway. Scary. A prior time I rented from this place the vehicle was dinged up and in poor condition compared with U-Haul Redwood City. I will avoid this place in the future for safety reasons.

I made a last minute reservation for a truck the day before I needed it, which was also the day before Thanksgiving. Despite these conditions, Roger from Hengehold went above and beyond to ensure that a truck of the correct size was available for me to use by 11am that morning. Pickup and drop-off of the truck was quick and simple. I cannot overstate how impressed I was with the service at Hengehold. I will certainly be going out of my way to use their trucks again in the future.

I recently purchased a box truck with Matt and I have to say that the process couldnt have been easier. Matt was incredibly helpful and answered all my questions quickly and thoroughly. All this company does is find used work trucks no matter the condition and does in-house paint jobs, new cheap looking chrome hub-caps, new vinyl seat covers.Update 11/20/17. Owned this truck for well over a year and would never buy from company again, worst truck in my fleet. Went to install a tow package on truck and found out truck had been in a crash.

I have relied on Hengehold Trucks several times in the last few years for truck rentals needed for taking stuff to storage or moving. They usually have better inventory and rates than the bigger chain rental companies in my opinion. More importantly for me, the vehicles seem to be in much better condition and Im not a nervous wreck if I have to drive on of their trucks more than 10 miles.I also enjoy the fact that their staff is pretty friendly and doesnt mind taking a little extra time to answer my questions when I cal.

Really took care of us. Made the purchase quick and painless and when we had trouble with our lift the same day we picked up our truck, they made sure to send out a tech the next day with every part they might have need to fix it and kept in contact throughout the repair so we didnt have to stay onsite the whole time.

My friend Cat rented this brand new Isuzu NPR HD 15 ft box truck from Hengehold Trucks in Palo Alto, California for her move to South Lake Tahoe, and I did all the driving!. We packed the box nearly full. The 15 ft box holds a gargantuan amount of boxes and furniture with ample wall tie down points. We rented the truck with the hydraulic lift gate to make moving furniture and a washer/dryer stack a breeze. This truck is powered by a 6.0 liter GM gasoline engine with a six speed automatic transmission with dual overdrive.If youre going to drive a rental truck up and down steep mountain grades, this is the rig you should be driving. The transmission has D6 for two overdrive gears and D4 for 3rd and 4th gears, and also a low range of 1st and 2nd.I kept it in D4 climbing and descending the grades on Highway 50 to and from Lake Tahoe and this truck handled the grades with aplomb and plenty of power, even fully loaded. On approaching curves, many of which are 35 and 30 mph limits, I rarely had to use the brakes, just gently tapping them to control the speed, the transmission and engine did all the work. This truck is equipped with hydraulic and vacuum braking with front discs and rear drums. It will handle any mountain grade. Renting this truck was cheaper than U Haul, of course we made the round trip approx 230 miles each way from Los Altos to South Lake Tahoe but Hengehold only charges 84 cents a mile and a base rate of $89 a day. It was a brand new truck with 2000 miles on it; you wont get one from U Haul, and certainly not an ISUZU!!! It seats 3 adults with a center seat and the cab is spacious with lots of storage for snacks and beverages and essential items.The steering is tilt and telescopic and is power, of course. You feel completely in control, and this truck has an AMAZING turning radius. You can easily do a U-turn at any intersection. The front window is EXPANSIVE and you have complete view and COMMAND of the road and the mirrors give you complete confidence negotiating heavy traffic. The stereo is equipped with a USB charging outlet and CD player as well as Audio In for iphones or ipod music (we listened to hits of the 70s back and forth.MILEAGE: FULLY LOADED 8.9 MPG (estimated) to TahoeEMPTY 10.5 MPG from TahoeWe loved driving this truck to and from Tahoe and Hengehold made it all possible. I highly recommend them if you have to make any move in the Bay Area or beyond. Very nice people there. They fully explained how to safely operate the lift gate and how to store it while driving so that it would not bounce on bumps. That attention to detail was well appreciated. Moving a fully loaded truck to Tahoe with this truck was a pleasure.

Overcharged almost double on the miles I drove. Make sure taking picture yourself when renting from them.
