Food is great and the workers are friendly. Interesting selection of Indian goods and beverages.
This pure veg restaurant has their menu clearly marked for vegan options. Majority of the menu is vegan and even their thali can be made vegan. We were pleasantly surprised to see their pav bhaji is vegan!!Their snacks were so fresh and tasted amazing.
Really great food. Cant find some of the menu items anywhere else close by.
Good Indian grocery, small... but good selection of items and dont miss the (made in house) vegetarian options for carry out. They close for a bit in the middle of the day, and sometimes for private events, so call ahead for hours, if you are not local... also closed on Mondays
Seriously the best tasting, most reasonably priced Indian food we’ve ever had! We highly recommend getting the Full Thali because then you can sample several small dishes if you’re unsure of what to order. We were visiting from PA and we ordered from here both nights for dinner! We wish we lived closer just so we could make it a weekly thing. Looking forward to eating here again!!
We tried this place after it was recommended by a number of people and we didnt love it. Perhaps it just isnt to our taste or we ordered a bad combination of foods. The dishes were very heavily spiced and too many things tasted of green chutney. The main dishes we ordered werent as creamy as we like. A plus is that they have some kids options on the menu. My daughter loved the mango puree and poori.
Not for us. Service was very slow... it took an hour to get 4 snacks on a Thursday early evening (samosa, vada pav, masala dosa, and khasta kachori -- most of which I believe were fully prepped). They only have one register for both the kitchen and the store, so even though we bought a few other things from their attached store, we couldnt pay for it as the person insisted we wait to pay with the food. That was fine at first, except by the end of that hour, I really didnt feel like waiting for the cooked food anymore.More importantly, the food was not that great either, so the wait was totally not worth it. None of the items had an authentic regional taste nor were they spiced correctly. For example, the vada pav (a Maharashtrian street snack) tasted more like a dabeli on a burger bun. The samosa was way too salty and its crust tasted more like a kachori.Overall, cheap, but not at all authentic tasting food, slow customer service, and overall not a good experience. We probably wont be visiting them again.
Great hole in the wall. The front is a grocery store and the back is a restaurant. Great Indian food at a very reasonable price. They have become one of our go to places for carry out. Our 7 yr old loves their food.
Excellent value, great vegetarian food!
Me & my boyfriend ordered food from them on a Saturday night. The menu was overwhelming. There was so many options and I didn’t know what to choose. At first, I was going to get a 32 oz of the chana masala and add an order of the samosas like I usually do... but I wanted to try other entrees as well. We placed an online order for the samosas (2 pieces), daal fry (8 oz.) chana masala (8 oz.), aloo Gobi (8 oz.) and two orders of the poori. All this totaled to $20 🤯 (this price doesn’t include the tax and my tip). When we arrived to pick up our food, the place was busy. People were standing around waiting for their food. We didn’t have to wait because our food had been ready 15 min. ago and it was still hot. The samosas were crispy & crusty. The filing was flavorful and very fluffy. I was looking for chutneys to come with the samosas but it didn’t. I guess you have to order that separately. The vegetables and legumes in each entree were tender. The spicy levels ranged from mild to spicy for each dish. The chana masala was spicy and a tad salty for my liking. I’m not big on salt but the dish was still good. I sopped up some of the chickpeas with my poori and dipped it into the sauces that I had. I was expecting the poori to be crispy fried bread but it was actually soft and flaky like a biscuit which I didn’t mind. The daal fry was spicer than the chana masala. I didn’t mind this because I can handle spice. It tasted great on top of the fluffy basmati rice. The aloo gobi wasn’t flavorful to me. I thought it needed more spice...it was mild. I’m a sauce girl and it wasn’t submerged in enough sauce like the other entrees. Also, there wasn’t much in the container. One 8 oz entree with the rice wouldn’t have been enough for one at least not for me. This size entree is like a snack or you can create a sampler like I did to be full. I suggest getting the food 16 oz. entrees. Also, order extra rice because the pint isn’t enough (of course not for two people). I thought the staff member said a pint comes with each entree when I talked to him prior to completing my order online. I don’t blame him - there just was a misunderstanding on my end.
Taste is absolutely fantastic. Prices are very reasonable.
Snack time! Missing Indian chat this is the place to stop and get some Dahi poori and Chole poori
Best vegetarian spot we have found. Great prices too! Thank you!
The food was great and the people were helpful and friendly. We tried an assortment of items and really enjoyed the dosas and everythings. The prices were amazing too. The menu listed vegan items clearly. We will definitely return.
Very tasty food...reasonable price...friendly staff
Simple yet authentic taste of food at reasonable price. Overall great place to visit for Indian food cravings!
Very good authentic Indian food. Enjoyed snacks there and got food to take home with me. Nice grocery store with good selection as well. Everything is vegetarian and they also have vegan options.
This place is right around the corner. The people are great and the food is great too. You dont have a ton of international choices in Pville but this is a good choice.
Great service. Delicious food. Courteous staff.
Best indian snacks. Was craving for desi snacks for a long time. Price is super affordable comparing with the quantity and variation. Lady there is very welcoming and helpful allowed pick up after hours. I strongly recommend this place if you live in Baltimore and want to try indian snacks, vegetarian and vegan food.
The food is good yes- but beware: they do not wear masks. Why so irresponsible? They see hundreds of people per day. Imagine the probability that they have coronavirus. I will be reporting them if they do not start wearing masks the next time I go in.
So tasty!
Im glad to have found this place. Their food is very tasty and prepared right in front of you. They are very accommodating of dietary restrictions. Prices are extremely reasonable and worthy for the food. Its a veg only restaurant with variety of options including north and south indian food.
Not very big restaurant but very tasty foodVery nice food as well as reasonable price and freshly made everything they serve hereNice family owned place to try...Genuine family people working hard here to feed customer and make them happy and feel home made foodWe took small gujrathi thali and it was really niceSmall grocery available as well 👍👍👍👍👍
Pavans food always hits the spot. I usually take it to go. Always start with the papdi chaat! If you havent been, try the full Thali to get a selection of items. The curries are all great, but I recommend trying the saute paneer. FYI, it can be a bit spicy.
I use to order from them from 3 yrs every week but the ladies are too rude they dont even give a favor if the time is a lil late ppl from other restaurants love to have clients as its late or early but thses ladies are such a rude and doesnt respect clients will never order from them now.i used to drive 30mins to go there but more now
Nice place
Great indian vegetarian food and grocery available here.
Listen. You want the best? One solution: Pavan Foods. Period. From the daily buffet that will fill your soul without stuffing you senseless (includes 2 curries, dal, chapati, rice, sweets, and something fried like pakora) to the well stocked market to peerless carry out options like the “Frankie” (seriously I challenge anyone reading this to find a better sandwich anywhere in the world)...why would you eat anywhere else? That’s not rhetorical, I pose this question literally.Want to eat Indian Food? Oh, you’re going to (insert: any restaurant that is not Pavan Foods)?Stop.Set your GPS to a new destination: Pavan Foods.
Good, tasty traditional foods with good prices. Good for catering also.
Small grocery, but the treasure is a food counter in the back which includes south Indian options of dosas and idlis.
A great cozy little Indian food place. They have a ton of Indian snacks and dishes though many dishes are the frozen or instant type. The ambience is very functional and not leisurely. This it is recommended only if you love Indian food or are very hungry. The decor is minimal. If you happen to be Indian though youll feel like you are in a typical small north Indian eatery.
Finally found a good Gujarati place where the food tastes like in India. Family owned restaurant and great taste. Dont judge the restaurant by the look, food is great, affordable as well.
Ive been searching for another place that has authentic Indian food and I finally found it
Sweets are very good and Chappathi, Pooris are so soft. Curry will not taste like the one made at regular restaurants. But everything are made fresh. Clean and well maintained.
Great food, nice people, good selection of grocery for a small store. Also has a selection of other odds and ends. Have never had a bad experience here. Worth the trip just for the samosas.
The samosas are really delicious. So delicious. Other entrees Ive ordered have also been good. All vegetarian!
03/21/2019 everything taste real authentic Indian snacks pure vegan. Delicious and decent prices.Good service too
Delicious, well priced goods
The food is great. The food can be spicy at times (as a warning to some). I love the shop too. They sell candies, teas, slices, etc. A small and cheap establishment perfect for a nice meal
Hot food was delicious! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I don’t know a lot about the dry foods, but there seem to be a nice, however small selection. I would definitely recommend this place and come back myself
Excellent vegetarian delight and a must for those who want quality value in homely atmosphere. They are closed on Mondays Great meal plans and essential groceries, just off 695 at exits towards Pikeville and Carney M D Enjoy
This is the best vegetarian take out you will ever have. Food so fresh and delicious every time. I dont know how authentic, but the restaurant is family owned and everything smells and tastes like the real deal to me. I think they could benefit from updating the dining area and redoing the floor tile...but that hardly detracts from the food
Absolutely love the food! And you simply cant beat the price. Theyre fresh selection in the grocery department is not great but the price is more than make up for it. They even make their own ghee.
My brother-in-law loves your food and eats there almost everyday, now his health is getting better too. But I have a question for Pavan. Being a vegan myself, how can you say your dish is vegan, when you use butter and yogurt ?
Limited menu and a very small place but excellent choices for vegetarian food. Tasty meals. Not spicy enough though. Great service.
This was an excellent family-fun restaurant! The nasal dosa, dhokla, mango purée, and paneer masala were delicious and incredibly flavorful. On top of that, the prices were the cheapest I have ever seen. I loved this place so much, that I drove back 2 days later for more. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to check out an authentic Indian restaurant with delicious food and wonderful service for a very affordable price!
Great vegetarian inexpensive option. Home cooked feel. Run down place, yummy food. Prepacked food is not that great.
Great food, very flavorful. The restaurant is a humble set up. I have been twice and every item weve ordered has been delicious. The prices are great too.
Part restaurant and part mini grocery. This little place is the best place to get authentic South Indian food. Its clearly a family run establishment, which makes me like it even more.
Great South Asian products, friendly service. Ive been going regularly for years, and always satisfied. The home style restaurant/ buffet offers many items not found in other Indian restaurants.
If youre from south India this place is not for you. We tried chole poori, pav bhaji, Da eli, sev batata poori, Mix veg platter and tea none of them are good.2nd star for fresh food.
Very happy with the food we get here they make for is veggies without oil and chick peas with minimal oil with fat free chapati s
Great customer service. They can very much make anything without onion and garlic. Definitely a place to visit for fresh Indian food. Specially if you are Jain / Swaminarayan.
Great food for a great price!
Vegetarian Indian food, authentic-home made taste & Value for money. It’s family run and attached to grocery store so don’t expect customer service :) go there for food!!
Lovely Indian vegetarian food. I loved the snacks and they have a huge variety of them. The best part is that they always serve fresh and hot. Love it.
So glad to finally find an awesome Indian restaurant in Baltimore, and glad that its nearby. Everything we had was fantastic, though it can be a little spicy for our 4 year old. That said, cant recommend this place more!
Had the buffet, it was quite good. Prices were cheap, atmosphere was nice. Will be back.
Food is great! I had never tried Indian cuisine but my first impression is great! Ill be back
I normally dont review places, doing this because I was Googling the address to give to someone and came across some reviews that had me a little surprisedI agree with some of the negative reviews about slowness and looks. This place is not for everyone. Its essentially a couple of grandmas cooking to order in what looks like a home kitchen. So its slow (and i mean SLOW). And it tends to be spicier than the average American palate. And the place looks kind of run-down. So yeah, its not for those who prefer the ambiance of a fancier place. However, It definitely IS a place for people who value the quality of food over everything else... Because its a couple of grandmas making your meal from scratch, to order. Because its authentic. Because its delicious. And because its ridiculously cheap.I cant make any sense of the reviewers who criticized the food. Youll notice that the vast majority give it a 4 or a 5, and then theres these random people who give it a 1.The only thing I can conclude is that these 1-star reviews are eithera. from proprietors of other nearby Indian restaurants who want to peg down this places ratings to make their places more attractive to new customersor elseb. they have an expectation that Indian food taste a certain way and are surprised that even the dishes they thought they knew can be prepared differently in different regions
Great place and great food .
Reasonable pricing. Great taste!
A no- frills small Indian restaurant with delicious freshly prepared vegetarian food. A must try!
Best place to have some authentic Indian snacks. Everything is worth the price.
Under Priced. Friendly. Delicious.Went with family. Man that greeted us was friendly and helpful in guiding us through the menu. Not sure if people who eat the cusine regularly are the best in judging how spicy something is. Almost everything I got was spicy but I pushed through because it was sooo good. Everything is under $15, I hope they are making a substantial profit because they deserve to. We will probably become regulars. Hope to learn about the culture during my future visits.
Great Indian food. All vegetarian menu. Homestyle feel. Small portions that are very cheap. Best samosas Ive ever had !!
It was my first time that I bought some foods to go. It was all delicious. Thanks a lot.
I have tried the light thali, its Gujarati home style food, its very delicious, vegitarian, good for kids
This place is the best Indian restaurant in the Baltimore area. Short of going to Columbia, DC, or Delaware, you just can’t find better (I’ve looked).Foremost, they are NOT afraid to use spices to round out and/or add depth to a dish. As a result, the food doesn’t come out tasting like the bland offerings you find at your typical strip mall Indian place…even though this place is sorta in a strip mall.I am a carnivore, so I do miss the various chicken, lamb, and fish dishes that Indian cuisine has made famous. However, I can happily go meatless when at Pavan. The only downside with the lunch buffet is there isn’t a plethora of dishes on offer. However, I will take a buffet that does 8 dishes perfectly over one that half-heartedly mails in 20 dishes any day.
Good place for gujarati veg foods self-serve and lots of varieties of snacks
Great vegetarian Indian, prices are very reasonable.
Authentic Indian cuisine and market. Its a great mix of an Indian grocery store and restaurant!
Very delicious homely food.
Its a small little gem. Wonderful people and great food.
Very good place for Indian Chaat!
I also love this place, after driving to Pasadena for Indian cooking supplies it was a welcome find. I am still trying to find the Mothers Recipe seasoning mixes that nobody seems to carry anymore... ideas anyone?
Amazing taste, and low prices
Excellent homemade quality food at affordable prices.
They were nice to swap a vegan soup and roti naan for the meal.
Waiting time is long...
Amazing food for a very affordable price!
Their food always be nice. Prices are good. Love their vada pav most. Must try.
One of my favorite places to eat, hands down. Everything here is such a good value. The best Masala Dosa I have ever eaten. Total hole-in-the-wall, by the way.
Amazing, flavorful, vegan options and great service!
The pav bhaji was tasty, good place to get authentic North Indian Chaat :) very pocket friendly pricing; clean but mediocre ambience.
Feel good place ever in Maryland.
My wife and I ordered out from Pavan last week, and really enjoyed it. We had a craving for Indian, and this really hit the spot. I had the Chana Masala and it was fantastic.
Great authentic Indian food. All vegetarian, and the only place I know in Baltimore to get South Indian food like idli.
Delicious food for reasonable price.. would love to visit again
Delicious food and very inexpensive! Outstanding service as well.
Medu Vada was all time best dish among south Indian tiffins
Paneer paratha was excellent, prices are reasonable. Items are good
Very cozy family owned place that serves good Indian and Gujju food
