I drove from Pensacola to Gates Used Cars to take a look at a Subaru. I was hesitant to buy, even though I drove so far, because the price was listed so low. But, it was because it was a steal. When I got there, Clint helped me and took me on a test drive. After the test drive we did some paper work to buy the car, and because I was from out of state, it took longer than usual to file the paperwork. I paid 18000 for a f250 that has cost me 12000 in repairs plus I still owe 11000 after paying 500 a month since Sept 2016. The truck is valued at 7500 with me only adding 30000 miles since I bought it. For a single mom who works her add off and has no help family government what so ever this truck has ruined me financially at 28 yrs old. May God have mercy on u because u are a fraud. I have paid 31000 and still owe 10000 never buy from a dishonest person like gates. He knew truck has problems when he sold it to me

I was referred here by Mike from Mikes Automotive after a huge ordeal with trying to sell my car. I attempted to sell my car back to Knapp Chevy who had sold it to me, thinking they would offer me some sort of incentive as a returning customer who had also referred other customers to them. But, ultimately they acted as dealerships often do by being dishonest about the original price offer and reasons for it changing, as well as attempting to charge me a ridiculous diagnostic fee for a simple sensor issue. I drove over to Gates to get an estimate, thinking I would likely get more bad news. Clint looked at the car and knew its worth immediately. He has a great eye and could spot all the details on the car quickly, offering me a more than fair price and ultimately saving me from having to deal with the dealership. The Gates family has been around for a long time and I didnt realize my mom and other family members had worked with them before. Had I known this I would have gone to them in the first place. Honesty and customer service are so important, especially in the car industry when it is not common practice. I am so relieved that my car ultimately went to them and I will continue to refer family and friends and go back and buy a car from them when I need another one.

I looked at a 2004 Toyota Sequoia that was priced reasonably. When I tried to negotiate the guy said it had already been dropped from $2000. The blue book, with the same options, mileage and everything, had a suggested retail price of $300 lower than the current price - so the $2000 more original price statement was almost certainly a lie. Then someone from the office came out and yelled to the salesman that someone on the phone wanted to know if the car we were looking at was available. The probability that someone would call at the same time we were there and ask about the same car is tiny, so this was almost certainly a lie. Lie number 2. Then, he said he had to see if there was any room left and came back and did negotiate, although not much. So his first statement that they did not negotiate was a lie. Lie number 3. Then he mentioned TTL and when asked how much that would be he said lets see, the sales tax in Texas is 8% . . . so about $xxxx. Lie number 4. The auto sales tax is 6.25% in Texas. Despite all these lies, we did like the car and asked to test drive it and bring it to the mechanic to get it checked. He said he had someone else coming up from an hour away to look at the car, so we could test drive it but could not take it the mechanic until Monday (it was Saturday). Needless to say, I told him never-mind.They told me one lie after another, while smiling and being very polite. And then made up an excuse as to why I could not take the car to get checked by a mechanic first.
