We visited Joe’s Italian Kitchen on a Tuesday afternoon as a group of five for a late lunch. On advice from a friend, we’d made a reservation because the restaurant was very busy, which is always a good sign. The customer service was on point for our entire visit: our server Therese was very attentive and fun, and was on top of everything. The pizzas and pasta were delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The cocktails and beers were the perfect compliment to the food. And really, there is no more relaxing place for lunch than the cheery patio overlooking the waterfall. 10 out of 10, and we will definitely recommend Joe’s Italian Kitchen to our friends. Very much worth the drive from Ottawa!
I wish I could give this restaurant 6 stars out of 5. Everything from start to finish was impeccable - and today was only their second day open post-Covid! The hostess was super friendly and managed to squeeze us in to a very full patio. Our waitress (a recent transplant from Calgary) was a sweetheart, and the food was fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. I was especially impressed with how the wait staff and kitchen dealt with my girlfriend’s severe food allergy. I wish I lived closer so I could go back more often!
What an amazing dinner! We thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails, the Margarita Italians and the Amaro Mule. We split the Goat Cheese and Beet salad which was such a tasty combination of flavours. Then we each got the special of the night, a pappardelle rosé pasta with a bit of spice and it was PHENOMENAL! The daily special came with Caesar salad and garlic bread. Truly a fantastic meal. We ate out on the patio (currently first come first served) but it’s easy to make a reservation online for indoor dining. The whole night we had excellent, friendly service from Lydia who was attentive and made us feel welcomed. I’m definitely going to be returning!! Thanks 😊
Came in today based off the great view of the water. Surprisingly not only was the view great but the service as well. Francis the hostess was able to make room for us on the patio so we all could enjoy the view after a long drive.Francis & Hillary definitely needs to be recognized for going above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience!!!!!
I stopped by here today for lunch. They graciously made space for me at the bar, the only spot available in a completely full dining room. The space is gorgeous and luckily it was a nice enough day that all the doors were left open to the outside, which let in a bit of fresh air and allowed the sound of the rushing water to be enjoyed while sitting there. The service from the lady working at the bar was attentive and very friendly even though I was kind of awkwardly in the way and didn’t have a reservation, was solo and only ordered coffee and a pizza, both of which were amazing. The pizza was perfectly put together and seasoned. Super flavourful and delicious, part sourdough crust. Yummmmm.
For the first time I discovered the small little Pueblo of Almonte. All these years living in the National Capital Region and I never knew about this great place! It’s small and quaint and lots of history. There’s no shortage of eateries and one of these is Joe’s Italian Kitchen. It’s not really what I expected regarding its menu choices but it was nevertheless an enjoyable experience. The pizza was great as were the various cocktails 🍹. The view from the deck was very pleasant. The service was excellent! Very personable servers. ☺️ I will most definitely return now that I know of the existence of Almonte. 👍😎
Four women ordered 4 different pizzas so we could share and compare . tough decision to pick No #1 because they were all excellent. Added bonus was that the service was professional, efficient, friendly and fun. I always love going to Almonte and Joes Place. :)
The food was good. A bit on the pricy side. Roughly 20 CAD for a single serve pizza. But the place itself was totally underwhelming and unkept. There were many flies and bugs both inside the restaurant and outside on the patio. The washroom (mens) was an absolute horror: dim lighting, flies and bugs and even a sizeable spider lurking in plain sight, I had to use my phone flashlight to see better in the washroom. This could really use at least some better lighting and some deep cleaning. The chefs did not seem to understand how masks work and would often expose their nose and mouth while working with food preparation. Our first waiter (one with the cool tattoos, very well detailed) though helpful and helped us acquire a seat outside, was quite rude and didnt seem to understand that people didnt frequent this location often to understand how boutique restaurants operate with their menus. He had a very condescending tone while talking to us, maybe didnt seem to think customers like to be respected. But yes, he was quite helpful and for that Im thankful.
Amazing place! The view is magnificent. They have a patio right on the falls. Food is out of this world. Their Pinsa crust is phenomenal. Timely service & super-friendly staff. We went twice this summer and were very happy with everything both times. Our servers Breanna & Taylor were both lovely and took the time to explain their different pizza toppings and the daily pasta. Definitely worth visiting. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We’ll be back again :)
Saw the ad in Edible Ottawa and decided to check out the Almonte location. Didnt make a reservation so had to wait a very reasonable 45 min. It was worth it! Our server, Theresa, was excellent as was the food. We ordered the Sofia Loren pinsa romana pizza... absolutely delicious. Cannoli and coffee for desert...also outstanding. Will definitely be back to sample more of their menu...and thanks to Theresa for being such a delight.
Having this dining establishment in an older building added a lot of character and was a delight to experience....having great food, amazing staff and a perfect view was an added bonus. Advertising does work. Saw the add in Edible Ottawa and was going to check out the ottawa location but decided it was a beautiful day for a bike ride and decided on the Almonte location. Best decision ever! Great location! Will return. Reservations recommended.
Its a lovely place. The server was great and even took time out to play with our kids. The food/pizza was great in a cozy atmosphere. The lady out front was not very warm when we asked to be sat somewhere else as it was starting to drizzle; the positives outweigh the negatives in this case so no major complaints. Go check it out
I visited this restaurant last week with my friends and we loved the experience. Each table was socially distanced and servers were wearing masks. My server was very friendly to explain some of Italian ingredients in the menu and also suggested some Joe special pizzas.Unfortunately we couldn’t sit on the patio because of rain but the waterfall view from the patio is beautiful. This is definitely a must visit restaurant in Almonte if you love Italian cuisine and have a bite with a beautiful view.
I made a reservation to try the restaurant on my birthday while we were travelling back to Toronto and I made the reservation at 12:30pm and it was confirmed and one day later they sent me another email saying that your reservation is at 12:45pm and we arrived there at exactly 12:45 but we had to wait for another 15 min to be seated. After that they told us that the patio is totally reserved and actually we only came for the patio because it was the whole experience for us. Got very disappointed but still we tried the food, was very overpriced and there is nothing special about it. My brother even refused to sit because the table was actually in the worst place possible right infront of the door. The only positive thing about the experience was that the waitress was super friendly and nice. Other than that it’s just not worth to drive all the way there or even wait.
We arrived before the restaurant opened and werent welcomed warmly, however once 1130 hit, they were able to get us a table with an amazing server. Theresa was super warm, welcoming, and very friendly. She had awesome suggestions for us to have for lunch, and we were all very happy with our orders. The pizza was amazing, as was the tiramisu, and their coffee was excellent! I would go again, and hope Theresa was my server, such a sweet heart!
Wonderful experience! To start we had Theresa as our waitress and she was FANTASTIC, so cheerful and pleasant. Our food was so good, best ceases salad I’ve ever had, the pasta special was also amazing fresh pasta so good! And took a pizza to go, and the crust was so so good, better than pizza I had in Italy!I recommend 10/10
This was our second visit to Joe’s Italian restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. We had a great view of the water at our inside table. The meat board was huge and we paired it with a light red wine, Rosso. All delicious. I had the aloha pizza with a great shaved ham and real pineapple. My husband had the Joe DiMaggio and he loved it. We could only eat half because the starter was so filling.Louise was our waitress and was very attentive. She suggested the Moretti beer and it was a great choice with the pizza. We had a great evening and will be back. Thanks so much Joe!!!
What a BEAUTIFUL location for a restaurant! The staff were accommodating (even though they were incredibly busy) and friendly. They made room for us on their patio and were quick with taking orders. The pizza we had was delicious and easy to devour ☺️ This is the kind of place I imagine when you go to a small, quaint town for dinner.
My wife and I had great expectations on this place, unfortunately this restaurant fell short. Pizza lacked flavor from the sauce(s) to the toppings. We liked the pizza dough/crust, but it wasnt enough to save our overall dinner.Probably wont be back.
Best Hawaiian pizza this side of West Port- Scheuermann Winery. Great atmosphere. Some servers are a little short on deserving a tip but others were awesome. But everyone can have an off day. The people managing this place seem to put their all into it. Will recommend and return. We had 3 pizzas and my favorite was between the Aloha and the Joe DiMaggio.
Awesome atmosphere especially if you can get a table on the balcony overlooking the falls. The daily pasta was Tortellini with pancetta in a cream sauce - it was amazing. The lunch portion was just the right size. Kudos to the staff and kitchen. I will definitely be back.🤩
We had lunch on Friday at Joe’s. We did not have a reservation but they managed to fit us in. The food was good but what stood out the most was the service. Theresa was amazing, attentive and so incredibly sweet.
Food: 2/10Customer service: 0/10Do yourself a favour and go to any of the other great restaurants in Almonte. Barley Moe is just down the street and has a great patio. The Cheeky Chippy is a great food truck with exceptional customer service- grab something to go and take it to the water for a lovely picnic.I’ve been to Italian Joe’s 3 times and have been consistently disappointed.
Called around noon and asked if I had to make a reservation for dinner on patio or dining room. Was told patio is first come first and dining room was fully booked. Arrived at 5:45pm on Saturday and was told there was about a 45min wait for Patio. They took my number and said we will call you as soon as its available. We waited outside for 30 minutes and noticed that 2 tables were free the whole time. We decided to head over to Barley Mow to grab a drink and wait for that call that was suppose to come. Guess what! its 8:00pm and we still have not received a call. Not the service we expected coming from Ottawa to enjoy a night out.
So definitely, the view was amazinggg. We ordered the pasta of the day and a traditional vegetarian pizza. Honestly, the food was lacking seasoning and the pasta portion was too small for the price. Also, we asked for extra cheese on the pizza but didn’t get that. I would recommend this place for the view mainly.
Went to Joe’s Italian kitchen tonight after a long exciting wait to try. Got seated and was insanely impressed with the gorgeous view and patio. Ordered very quickly cuz my and my brother were unfortunately rushed and were sad to wait as long as we did. The server was kind and apologetic but an overly caring hostess is the real reason we will come back. From the moment we walked in the door to the long wait, we were repeatedly impressed with the sincerity of Frances, and is a major reason we will leaving with a smile. Thanks for making us feel welcomed and important Frances, you are a gem! Looking forward to coming back, food was fabulous!
We have ordered the daily pasta and some pizzas and everything was good and tasty. Service is good and recommend booking a reservation ahead of time, it can get quite busy! We will definitely be back soon
Thats is amazing place and Pizza is SO good! My favourite is Joe Peschi with smoked salmon with cheese cream sauce. You should try it
This place has, hands-down, the cutest patio in the area. Beautiful setting, fantastic food. Pizzas are yummy, service is great and the restaurant is gorgeous both inside and out.I only have two tiny quibbles - one, I wish they served more than pizza (because I would love to go here all the time, but I only want to go out for pizza once in a while) and all the chairs on their patio are bar height, which is a little uncomfortable for sitting after a while (my feet didnt quite reach the little foot rests so my legs were dangling). But seriously....go here. Its absolutely adorable and the food rocks.
Came here to try and get a seat on the patio for the gorgeous view, but it’s first come first serve (even with reservations) so unfortunately we didn’t get a chance. We were excited to try this place anyways though. I’m only giving it a 3 star due to the food. We started with 2 apps: the meatballs and the caprese salad. The salad was good but the meatballs were quite dry. We tried 4 different pizzas and the daily pasta special (they only have 1 pasta a night). We enjoyed the pizzas on their special Pinsa crust, it was yummy and a cool specialty. However both the pizzas on the traditional crust were unfortunately quite soggy. Not sure if this is always the case with the traditional crust. Pasta was okay, it was a tortellini in a basil cream sauce. I had 2 drinks: a grappa sour and a aperol sprtiz, both were very delicious. Server was friendly. Perhaps might return if i’m in the area.
Great dining experience at Joe’s Italian Kitchen Almonte tonight 🍕 🥰 Atmosphere, staff and food was all amazing! Wonderful spot for a date night
Great place, ambiance service, food all excellent. Larger room than from roadside views. Recommend.
Good food, if a little pricey. Dont go on a hot day, the A/C cant keep up with the wood-fired oven. Also, we had serious issues with flies buzzing all over our table the night we were there. The young cooks yelling inanities (and occasionally profanities) at each other in the open kitchen was entertaining, briefly. Plenty of other options in Almonte as good, or better.
I ordered the pizza and ate outside. Super nice view and the waitress was very nice. The pizza was alright (had the Sofia Lauren), barely tasted anything and the crust was runny. Inside the restaurant it was really humid, slippery floor (almost fell while going through) and it was full of flies. The bathroom was so dark I thought I had gone in the closet, just me and over a dozen flies. So, go for the view and thats pretty much it, expensive so so pizza.
Magical setting and exciting menu. Dont hesitate to dine there. Food is outstanding. Their chianti is delicious.
Almonte is such a wonderful quiet place to visit with fod everyone can enjoy. Visit Joes Italian Kitchen and see why their food & view is the best!
Very nice restaurant. Beautiful inside and great view of the river on the patio. Prices are a little steep ($8 Bud Light draft) but Ill cut them some slack since they had to close for months.
One of the most beatiful views you can get from a patio. Overlooking the falls at the mill with great food and service as well. They specialize in pizza and are the only restaurant outside of Italy who makes their special crust. Our server was fantastic and it made a wonderful lunch time destination. The restaurant is steps away from a beautiful section of Almont, full of interesting shops and antique stores. It is also right on a beautiful path that follows the river. Perfect for a post meal stroll.Well worth the trip.
Service is amazing, everyone is so friendly. The food is also incredible. Highly recommend the Aloha Joe pizza and the cheese cake. The location is also fantastic - the patio has a perfect view of the falls. All around an amazing place to go for lunch or dinner; or even if you just want to grab drinks on the patio.
The wait staff is great, and they have an excellent atmosphere, and a great patio that looks over the Almonte Falls. Food is also great. Highly recommended.
From start to finish we were not impressed tonight. Food wasn’t great, pizza was very under par (extremely soggy couldn’t pick up a slice without it falling apart) and service was incredibly bad. All staff we encountered were very rude to the point where I was ready to get up and walk out before receiving my food. We travelled 40 minutes from Ottawa as we heard incredible things about this restaurant but left completely disappointed and unimpressed. We will not be returning. I especially don’t recommend this place if your travelling far distances. The two stars come from the incredible view.
Honestly the most mediocre experience BOTH times I’ve been. Staff is subpar, food is nothing exceptional. Not worth the hype or the price.
This is real Italian style pizza (I have been to Italy more than once). Dough is chewy, tomato sauce to die for, ingredients super fresh and if you are on the patio (in these Covid days - the only way), a million dollar vue of the falls. Parking on the street was readily available. Service was excellent.
It was too chilly to sit outside the day I was there but its a great location and each time Ive been there the food and the service has always been very good
We were lucky to be among the first diners to try this new restaurant on opening day and were very pleased. The restaurant takes advantage of the stone and brick of the building that makes for a pleasant atmosphere. Well lit with lots of windows that open out onto the river, a wonderful place to take a date. The service was excellent, lots of friendly people ready to provide drinks and appetizers and make sure everything was just right. The food was delicious. We had a Sophia Loren pizza and a Joe Jackson pizza. Delish! Good food, excellent service.
One of the best views in Almonte. Stone oven pizzas and a well-curated drink list make Joe’s a natural when you’re day-tripping around Ottawa. Wonderfully helpful staff - and make sure you leave some room for the home-made desserts. Located in a heritage building with a small bar that’s perfect for waiting for a patio or window seat!
The patio ambiance is perfect, a front row view to the waterfall with no bad seats in the house.Fantastic pizzas and drinks with great service.
Beautiful place by the water and delicious food. We tried the pinsa Romana and it was amazing. The patio has breath taking views but the water can get very loud after some time.Note for parents: The patio tables are high and the stools have no back rest, and the high chair available doesnt reach the table, so the patio is not very good for children.
Amazing view and food. Just loved the way everything is being cooked. The service was great.
We were looking for a unique dining experience and found it here. I would suggest making a reservation, we went early at 330. it was not overly busy at that time but it was full when we left 2hrs later. our server was excellent and answered any questions we had. the appetizers were so good, the bruschetta the best Ive had. the pinsa and the traditional pizza were hot & tasty. we ordered two extra orders of the al forno bread - you have to try it. we also had dessert and it was delicious. we were able to go out on the deck to enjoy the view of the water/Rapids. we travelled 2hrs to come to this restaurant and it was well worth the trip. we will definitely be back. awesome food and great service.
Found out about Joes on Instagram and came for weekend lunch (I suggest a reservation if you can). Its just as instagramable as the pictures you see, phenomenal view and quite a nice little city with tons if shops and walking paths. The food quality was great, we had a pizza and sandwiches, everything tasted very fresh. The drink selection was not too bad but theyre made very well, tasted delicious. The service was also amazing (your mileage may vary) its a small patio but they have plenty of staff and youll likely be well taken care of.The one thing I will say, for as beautiful of a spot that it is, it is twice as noisy. Depending on the wind, you may get wet and its probably going to be very hard to hear your company. It didnt phase us though, we had a fantastic experience.
Amazing. Best reason to visit Almonte. The view, the food, all perfection. Go. Right now. Seriously.
Great food at very reasonable prices, and very friendly staff.
Best view in Almonte, great cocktails, the sourdough and rice pizza crust was very interesting, and desert was lovely. All around an excellent place and wasn’t too busy when we went around 8:30pm
Loved the food, and the view on the pario was gorgeous! My only complaint is that seats on the patio are not comfortable at all
Was a wonderful rainy afternoon delight.
Fantastic service. Excellent service. What more is there?
Beautiful building and pizzas are delish! Try their Pinsa crust, you wont be disappointed.
Gluten Free pizza is amazing here, top notch food and service!
A little disappointed with lunch. Not into cold cuts and missed a good cocktail.
Possibly the best gluten free pizza I have ever had.
The pasta special was Scrum Dilly would recommend, and the patio was cute as hell.
A very nice Italian restaurant in Almonte right by the river. There is a beautiful outside patio area and you can hear the rapids flowing below. The food was very good. The old-style pizzas were really nice and the perfect size. The drinks were a little pricy but very good also. Would recommend to anyone who is visiting Almonte
This is one of my favourite places to eat. The patio in the summer is amazing, over looking the falls and great views. The food is phenomenal, everything is so fresh and the price is very fair. Would highly recommend.
Great pizza, great view, great service. Order whatever the special of the day is.
One of my favorite spots to eat at in Almonte. Great little pizza place with tasty wood oven pizza combinations! Ive always had great service when Ive gone. On warmer days, try and take advantage of their patio! Its right beside a waterfall so you get to enjoy a nice view and great food at the same time. Highly recommend calling ahead to make a reservation, as it is a smaller restaurant (they only have 1 table for 6 on the patio) - but totally worth it!
Not the best and very expensive for what you get not impressed pizza cheese was of low quality all in all do not suggest
Great pizza in a unique setting.
Amazing pizza. Parking a bit tricky as you need to go down the street a bit as the spots beside building is reserved for the condo residents living above the restaurant.
Lovely location, excellent pizza, great staff
My husband & I just had a wonderful lunch at Joes. The service was great & the food was excellent. Well definitely come back.
Amazing service, protocols being followed, cleanliness is impeccable. The food and drinks are out of this world and so fresh. Cant wait to go back.
We heard so much about this place so we went with family. Lady at the front said she doesnt have place as it requires reservation. Right in front of us, she gave table to other couple without reservationI dont want to say it but this was a racist behaviourAs much as I was excited, will never go there again
Excellent. No more needs to be said.
I was the lucky winner of a gift certificate offered by Valley Heritage Radio in a contest. My husband, sister and I went and none of us were disappointed. We ordered the ravioli pasta special. It came with a salad and Italian bread, which were excellent. Our mushroom ravioli pasta with cream sauce, sausage and cherry tomatoes were outstanding! Would definitely recommend Italian Joe’s and will be returning!
5 star for the location and views from the patio. 3.5 star for the food. I would go back for the views and have a drink or snacks from the patio.Service is good, prices are reasonable, food is okay. Meatballs to start are excellent. There is only 1 pasta available as daily special. Everything else is pizza. Traditional crust was nice and thin but pretty tasteless. Good distribution of toppings. The name Italian kitchen had us expecting more food options. Would be better if place was called Joes pizza kitchen. Pizza is large enough to share if you arent that hungry or if you get an appetizer.Cant get over the view though so will be back.
I’ve had both dine in and take out experiences and have nothing but positive things to say .Hats off to the chef for the most wonderful fresh pizza, but what keeps me coming back for more is the bruschetta and dessert .Super friendly staff, great ambiance, tasty drinks and a beautiful dinning experience de indoors or outdoors .
Couldnt find the kitchen but the food was good
Stopped for coffee. Ended up having a first class panini and cannoli!! Excellent service. Fab decor! Well be back!
