So let me just start by saying that after the time I spent with Mr. Massy at the store sharing his knowledge of jewelry and diamonds i feel like I can now move from doing project management to being a gemologist. Working with Massey at Frank Salese is the best. When we went to get our engagement ring we stopped in the store as it’s where my (now) husband’s parents got their engagement ring. As we spoke to Massey we learned that it he who sold them their engagement ring 25 years prior! That’s when we felt it was where we should get ours. Flash forward 5 years and my husband and I wanted to upgrade the diamond on my ring, Massey made it a seamless process. He is such a genuine person and expert in his craft. Massey managed beautiful repairs on our antique wedding rings. Following some damaging work by another vendor, I took 2 92-year-old family wedding rings to Massey at Frank Salese. He accomplished expert repairs of fissures caused by previous resizing, replaced a lost, side diamond at a great price, rebuilt the cracked panel in which the stone sits, and had the rings delicate, but worn, orange blossom engraving renewed as you can see, here. I couldnt get a photo of the engagement ring as it went directly to the bride. If the original owners could see these, they would be happy that the rings are new again! My family thanks you, Massey.

Best Jeweler in the Diamond District!!I brought a loose diamond from the family to Frank Salese and asked him to design a custom halo engagement ring around it and he did an incredible job!! My experience was beyond perfect! Massey is the sales associate, but also the Gemologist, so I actually got to talk to the person who literally made/designed my ring himself. He educated me on what my loose diamond was worth, let me look at it through a microscope, gave his professional opinion on how he would design a halo to go around it that would match the color, quality, and enhance the center stone by not making it look gaudy, and also most importantly he LISTENED to me and considered what I wanted. He was totally not pushy. Very professional. He gave me the BEST PRICE out of other jewelers I looked at. The ring was perfect! My now fiance loved it along with all of her family and co-workers! My brother and I have both bought our engagement rings from him. My entire family loves him. I live about 1 hour from Philly and specifically drive into the city to see HIM (Massey). I came to him looking for a specific antique engagement ring for my then long time girlfriend of 17 years and my experience working with was through the roof.Like many, I knew nothing about diamonds or rings, so I decided to hit every jeweler on jewelers row. The first place I went was Frank Salese. I was fortunate enough to have a my late grandmothers diamond and just needed to track down the antique setting. Well not only did Massey teach me about my grandmothers diamond and diamonds in general, he also informed me that tracking down the exact setting would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Instead he told me he could make the setting in auto-cad no problem. I immediately wanted to sign on the dotted line but knew I had to see what the other shops had to offer so I stopped into a couple more and what found was astounding. Each place I went to got bigger and bigger and had more jewelers than the last, and each place got less and less confident that they could create the ring. A few even had negative comments about my grandmothers diamond and tried to push me into a different direction.At this point, I knew Massey was my guy, but Ill be honest, I was a little worried about how confident he was in creating the ring when his competition wasnt.But long story even longer, I went with my gut and it was the best decision Ive made in a long time. Not only was Massey a man of his word, he created a ring that was better then the original. I cant say enough about this guy and his work. Like everyone else has stated, Massey is simply awesome. When shopping for my fiances engagement ring I did a considerable amount of research before stepping into his store, to include, reading several websites on how to tell the quality of a diamond, looking at diamond prices on websites like jared allen and blue nile, and going to different big chain stores and getting prices on ring. I found Frank Salese Fine Diamonds through a website that vets jewelers and recommends those that pass their standards. I never mentioned to Massey of any of the research that I did on my own. When I sat down with Massey he walked me through step by step of how to check the quality of a diamond, how to notice imperfections, and guided me in finding the right ring for my fiance. The best part is that the price was considerably cheaper then all of the big chain stores on a similar band with similar diamond quality. I will be going back to see him shortly to purchase our wedding bands.

When it came time for me to begin researching an engagement ring for my girlfriend, I wanted to start at the heart of Jewelers Row on Sansom St in Philadelphia. This is my second marriage, and my budget was considerably higher than when I was 22 years old.First I determined the jewelry shops I’d be visiting on that Friday - I took an entire day off work, and headed into downtown with a small notebook, an idea of the type of band, setting, and cut of diamond I preferred, and a budget in mind.I stopped-in to Barsky, Sydney Rosen, Safian & Rudolph, Harzin, and Frank Salese - in that order. All four I visited first had a level of education and salesiness - if that’s a word. My goal for that day was to be educated, not sold. And I was not swayed by the size, looks inside, or outside of any of these shops, and they did vary widely. Barksy and Harzin showed me ring settings and diamonds that met my preferences and budget and presented options that I felt could be in-the-running as possible selections.In the mid afternoon that day, I walked into Frank Salese and was greeted by Massimino Russello, “Massey” for short. I was told by my friends to ask for Massey because of the positive feedback and the long-term relationship my friend and his parents have with Massey. I sat down, introduced myself, and told Massey why I was there, the other shops I had visited before his, what I was looking for, my budget, and what I had already seen that day. The first thing Massey did was establish a relationship with me, and asked me about me and my girlfriend. I felt he wanted to know who we were before diving in, and no other jeweler took the time to lay this ground work. Once Massey understood the style of ring and diamond cut I wanted, and what I had already seen that day, he began educating me on what’s important and what defines higher and lower quality stones in the cut I wanted. I realized from that discussion that what I had already seen that day were in fact not the highest quality stones I could get in my budget.Massey had a few stones on-hand that were excellent examples of the type of cut I wanted and explained all the details, went over the four-Cs of each, and showed me the GIA certificates of each one. While I eliminated those first few stones, within an hour Massey had already helped me understand what I could get within my budget and the characteristics that were important for the type of cut I wanted. Massey asked if I could come back in a few days after he could get a couple diamonds that were in my budget, and that he felt were high quality excellent diamonds.On my second visit, he showed me an absolutely gorgeous diamond in the cut I wanted. Then we discussed the setting, and here is where Massey blew me away. My girlfriend’s favorite color is green, and although her birthstone is not emerald, I wanted something very special in her ring; something one rarely if ever sees in an engagement ring. Massey showed me a gorgeous setting with fine scroll-work, and a split shank with small diamonds up the middle of the split shank on both sides of the band. He suggested replacing those small diamonds with emeralds and I thought that was brilliant, but I really wanted to “see” what that would look like. He walked in the back for 2 minutes, came back, and the diamonds were colored green!! He did the simplest little thing that closed the sale - he took a green sharpee marker and colored the little diamonds green. That helped me visualize exactly what my girlfriend’s ring would look like! Sold! Massey worked further with me to tweak the band and halo design, took my deposit and we completed the sale.Massey is a wonderful jeweler, and a wonderful person himself. He took the time to establish a relationship with me, didn’t try to oversell me, and I felt he gave me a very good price based on other rings I had seen during my shopping process. I would highly recommend that you visit Frank Salese for any of your jewelry needs.
