This is one of my favorite market District locations. One of the benefits is that it has covered parking which is great for when it is raining. I always used to enjoy talking with the cheese monger who actually special ordered me cheese whenever they stopped stocking my favorite type of cheese. I also really love the hot sauce selection here. There’s always a great selection and something new.
I like to use Scan Pay & Go System at this location. It helps to save time on the checkout. The staff is friendly and ready to help. The parking is large and always has spaces available.
Bonus for pandemic shopping store works hard to keep shelves stocked unlike most store right now. Staff is helpful and friendly.
I saw a guy lick his fingers while counting the customer service registers cash durring a global pandemic thats killed more than 5 million people. Plus their produce is crazy expensive, tastes bad, and is usually rotten within a day of bringing it home.
Out of all the giant eagle on this side of town this is the best well stocked clean bathrooms are always clean well at least when i go they are.
Great variety. Good prices. Friendly workers .
My favorite Giant Eagle location! Love the selection and availability of fresh flowers, fresh pastries and just about everything else. Plenty of cashiers, so no long lines. Just a great place to shop.
The selection is hit and miss, my issue is that there are no worse grocery store shoppers than at *this specific* location. Idk how 500 people can think theyre all alone in the store but they do. No one moves with any idea of where theyre going, no one can hear your polite or rude requests for them to move, and somehow its always packed to capacity no matter when you go. Good selection of cheeses.
Decent enough grocery store, pretty good selection and reliable for all your staples. The store brand is typically as good as the name brands in my not-especially-picky opinion. Prices tend to be a little higher than you might find elsewhere, but if you wait until something goes on sale then its not bad. Pretty good bakery. The pharmacy is great, very attentive staff and better prices than drugstores.
I love going to the market district Giant eagle. I pretty much know where everything is and if I dont theres always someone there to help. They are great
This store is nice and conveniently located to Shadyside hospital. However the employee working the self checkout was rude and invasive. My grandmother didn’t realize it wasn’t scanning the items because we didn’t scan the card first. She shoved in front of my gram and took the bag and took the items out of it after I told her I was taking care of it and we were not stealing. I went through self checkout because I didn’t want anyone messing with my 4 items. Do not touch my stuff or invade my bubble! She was extremely rude and disrespectful!!
Love this store you can find almost everything
Theres always good to buy at this place! They have almost everything you need and products you dont know you want until you see them. FYI... I said almost cause Waterworks still beats this store hands down!
I Shop here quit often for my groceries and love the wide variety of food options my con is the closing time. I understand during the pandemic they wanted to limit the hours to cut down on how many people are coming into the store but to cater to the late night workers and the late night shoppers Id say stay open until at least 10:30 or maybe 11. 9 just seems lazy and lousey.
Clean place with a nice shopping experience. Produce looks good but a little pricey. A lot of healthy choice options to choose from. Eat in or take out ready made food and drink available.
So I always thought that the market district was the grand standard of the food shopping experience. I set out to make loaded nachos for my family I went got all my ingredients and checked out. Got home and I had a bag missing with some body wash in it. But anyway I finish the nachos and Im putting on the finishing topping which was sour cream which I purchased from (MD) and soon as I peel back the plastic protector there is green mold growing on top of the sour cream🥺. Taking it back to see what they are going to do about it. Things happen so Im not to upset but for the most part the cashier was a great delight.
Clean, organized and friendly workers... I choose this location every time no matter how far away I move from it. Even the experience with the pharmacy was pleasant
Its a nice place to shop outside of our usually place in Steubenville. Worth the occasional drive. Great produce! Much fresher than Krogers. I love getting the pink pineapple when they have it. Amazing bakery as well! Prices are a little high, but its to be expected.
Was on our way back to ye Ole hotel after the bucs game and had myself a good Ole craving for some delicious trumoo chocolate milk. As we approached the store it was very empty and the parking lot was almost fraudulent. There was a nasty smell in the air. The door was locked. O well looks like the manager forgot to unlock the door for the entire day. #nomilkforme.
Quick, efficient service that had what I needed
I go here all the time. Its my local store. It is good for having most things that are normal fare. Alil on the mod expensive side. But the food is fresh and u dont have to worry abt getting pantry insects usually (something to worry abt at those discount stores trust me). Their bakery and produce depts are very good.
Great sections. We ordered a cake from the bakery . It was so good. Staff was nice and helpful
Best selection of prepared foods and wine! Clean and exceptional customer service.
No masking at this location, unofficially. Im one of those immuno suppressed people. The greeters mask was completely down. Two employees had them down as I shopped. Then I go by the Sushi bar and the employee putting out the food has her mask completely down. Complained to Customer Service and Sherri got defensive and told me everyone had been vaccinated. Gross. This is a food place.
Good grocery store. Has nearly everything, but tofu and implausible burgers are hidden off in dark corners. Breads unusually good for a supermarket, though not as good as a real bakery.
Alwsys enjoy. Conversation. With differant. Nationality when shopping there and people most. Of time will answer questions
Good luck finding the 2 cubic feet of Alcohol/Beer selection
My closest giant eagle. A handful of staff are exceptional at their jobs. Handled covid extremely well. Always have what I need.
Parking is dicey if you don’t park in the lot. Also pulling in off centre. Staff and organization is fine tho.
They need to just convert all of the regular Giant Eagle locations in to Market District locations. It is well above and beyond what the regular stores have to offer. I believe it would help the company immensely and I could see it doubling or tripling the number of customers that go there.
I thought this place was out of my budget range but it is actually affordable to shop here and get good quality food.
Nice and clean. Staff friendly especially the one guy everyime I see him working he tells people have a Blessed Day.
I enjoy shopping at the Market District Giant Eagle. It has a lot different products. It also has an area where you can buy various wines and beers, a Starbucks, and a cafe.
Going to the Market District is going to a greater level of variety of foods, and the prepared foods section is worth the detour.
Organized, clean, easy to navigate. Huge fan of Scan, Pay, & Go.
This area of Pittsburgh is really a great place to shop and a lot of great restaurants they even have a cheese cake store really cool. The night life looked really busy with people on the streets I took a walk around at night a few weeks ago now I dont drink but the bar scene looked really fun and exciting.if you come to Pittsburgh do your self a favor and go check out the Market District
It was as usual a giant eagle market place friendly atmosphere
The beer and wine selection here is crazy good for a grocery store.
Great supermarket! Excellent selection and layout of products and fantastic customer services! One of the top 3 markets that I shop in for my needs!
Clean and well stocked. nice parking garage
This is my go to market district. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because the elevators are terrifying to ride in. They feel like theyre always about to break.
CLEAN, EASY TO LOCATE ITEMS, FRIENDLY AND AVAILABLE TO ASSIST YOU. TRY THE PINK PINEAPPLE CHUNKS.
Helpful Employees + Citizens Bank Inside
This place has a lot of choices for organic foods. I will definitely will frequent this market again.
Great staff at their Citizens Bank branch. The manager is awesome.
Friendly staff, good selection, but awful traffic flow of cars + people. you truly have to game things out on how to not bump in to others or wait 20 minutes to leave the parking lot. i get that its on a busy road but even the entrance to the store is horrible (foot traffic enters from right, but entrance is on left, meanwhile people exiting have to cross by people entering)
Love this local city store. Super easy to shop here.
Variety of items, cleanliness, customer service.
Everyone says Giant Eagle is expensive...you pay for convenience, the Pa Lottery, wine and beer, cigarettes and groceries. Oh my!! I like this G.E. Market District the very best, it has a lot considering the size .
The market district was nice . They just didn’t have no watermelon
...Fresh Grocery Store ... Its Nice!!
Very nice and clean place. Lots of good specialty foods. Employees were friendly.
Good selection from bakery items to liquor.
Great produce and seafood. I go there about once per month, but it is more expensive than Aldi.
Good selection, friendly staff
This is my shizitt!!! 2and best Giant eagle in Pittsburgh. (The first best is in robinson)
Always have everything I need to buy
Truly awesome and a Walk with Alice in WONDERLAND, the walk with Meghan at the District Market was captivating, maybe she is too NEW of an employee to continue at a marvelous pace with outstanding performance and customer satisfaction and service. This is Benjamin Franklin signing OFF.
How many supermarkets actually have a sushi department! Nice people, and a bus shelter outside, which will take you to target, another one kitty corner, and an unmarked bus stop for the 71A&71C going downtown, across Negley from at other bus shelter, and even better, its a short walk to the busway.
Probably the best grocery store in the City unless you count the Waterworks store as being in the city (technically is but not really)
The store is so small and crammed together when its busy bring a lunch or a book
Nice shopping. Tesla chargers in the parking garage were kinda hard to find.
An excellent layout and selection. I especially like the pre prepared food section allowing me to grab something like a sub for a quick meal. Though crowded at times there are plenty of registers and self checkouts to get you in and out. The parking lot is a nightmare at times as it is alongside a busy main road. Consider using the side entrance giving direct access to the underground parking/elevator entrance.
The experience at market district was okay it was my first time there in a long time so it said it was different but it had a lot of variety and I was satisfied .
Pretty well organized and the deli has a extensive selection.
Ijs best place ever
Not sure how youre supposed to find anything in this place. Dairy products can be in about a dozen different places. Faux meat? Good luck because clearly the stock person couldnt find it either.
This shop has two huge problems. First, in 4 months going there, they have overcharged me (the tellers) at least seven times. Only one time did I not catch them, but always, to get your money back you must wait for at least 15 minutes - to get back the money they stole from you. So be careful, the tellers will scan goods multiple times. Also, they move things around the shop, so even the employees dont know where some things are - it must be the trick to make us go around the store more in the hope we will buy more, but for me it usually makes me buy anything I cant find from another shop. I cant drive, so I must go there - otherwise, dont use Giant Eagle there.
Great place to shop!
I was there at approx 11am. Perfect time to shop. It was too busy...just the right time
Hell of a store had alot of things that i could not find in the regular stores and was in and out fast
Busy store with a small complicated parking lot. They have a great selection and a nice staff. Their curbside service is quick.
Very nice Giant eagle
The atmosphere is to crowded gor me not so friendly shoppers helpers around. rather shop at smaller stores
Just luv this store there is a PA. State Store + Beer Distributor & a Starbucks. Anything we want as shoppers this store carries.
Cashiers move quick!
I love organic food and market district is my go to place for a lot of those items. Especially being able to have fresh meat and seafood while grabbing a bottle of wine makes any mom extremely happy
Great price, friendly customer service... Good selection of items...
Its like the Land of Oz for groceries. I love it
Nice place. Lots of variety, lots of range. Pretty good value. Huge sections for deli, dairy, produce, meat, etc.
I loved it! This may be the poshest GE ever. The meat cuts are thick and fresh. The markdowns were exquisite. There could have been more fresh organic fruits and vegetables but they had the staples I needed.
Good location with ample parking.Edit: 5 to 2 stars. There is no social distancing going on here. Third time I’ve been now that the place was packed, no mask enforcement, people literally breathing down your necks. They’re clearly not limiting capacity.
First time at the supermarket; not a local. Picked up a few things, was very impressed with the layout and how clean and stocked it was. Went through self check out and did not realize I needed to be a card phone number remember and where do you self check out, however the cashier assistant was very helpful in checking me out. Definitely worth going in.
Market District Giant Eagles has everything you need for one stop shopping. You can buy food, prepared foods, go to the bank, buy products for your house and everything. And, the prices are great.❤️
Ive been going there since they opened. Were blessed to have the selection of foods we do in united states.. unbelievably diverse selections deli vegetables beverages treats fish and meats ..
Nice customer service very helpful
Lots of good products.
Very convenient (on bus line one block from UPMC Shadyside Hospital); well stocked; multiple self checkout registers (however, not all lanes open which led to unnecessary wait times in lines). Bought these lovely lilies this morning. When is the nicest things when you enter the Market District Giant Eagle Shadyside on Center Avenue is its like walking into the White House you have a floral arrangements and greeting you with Starbucks to the left Beyond at the wine and spirits and then all of the Gourmet foods that are made right there at the store and then you can continue on with your shopping as you drink your Starbucks.
Overpriced. Hard to navigate. Terrible parking lot. Youre better off going to Whole Foods I stg
Great!!! I was able to find a Seeded watermelon.
Meh. Always super crowded. Hard to get out of the parking lot. Overpriced. Staff is never very friendly.
Its like a NYC grocery store always a different mix of people. And the selections are great 👍🏾
How is this supermarket a Market District? Frankly, its hardly a supermarket. So much is missing, so much they dont carry, was a frustrating experience. Id rather just go to my local Giant Eagle in the ghetto for a better selection.
I love this place, it always have what I am looking for and its always fresh. How do they manage it all- they must work hard at it.
Awesome place. Tons of selection and great deals. The fish looked amazing with many options. I didnt see a deli however. There is also a Starbucks and dining area near the entrance
Nice grocer in a nice neighborhood. Above average items but Whole Foods is a couple blocks away if you need organic Cambodian breast milk for your family. You decide.
Great place to shop, they also have L3 charging for Teslas in the parking garage
