Good old stand by. Nothing out of ordinary diner food.
Anytime I visit Long Island I find myself trying to find this diner... I came accross this place about three years ago and the food is always very tasty and the service is great.. Everyone always has a smile there. On the very first time I visited Plainview, I even got the chance to see Howard Stern walk out of this place. I understand his limo driver brings him there quite often.So, if you get to visit Plainview Diner, you never know when youll see Howard but be sure that your service will be great and the food will be delicious!
We ordered the salmon dinner. We opted for the salad over the soup. It was a huge bowl packed. Then came our salmon dinner. It was served over mashed potatoes & spinach. We opted for the spinach on the side scampi style. The salmon was topped with Jack Daniels bbq sauce. It was delicious! We definitely highly recommend the diner & the dish!

This is a great diner with great service. The food is made well. I love the Eggs Benedict, omelets and potatoes. One of my favorite breakfast spots!!
Everything big...and tasty! As i was told its like Texas hit the North. If you are adventurous try the Breakfast Quesadilla or the Eggs Benedict but remember its big!
Upon entry my first impression Honestly was the hostess was terrible lacked zest almost lifeless and not welcoming . But Thank goodness for Dorian our waitress she was Great energetic on point very fast efficient & friendly . Food was pretty good & portion size was suitable . Decent price point also.
If youre there for breakfast you have to get the homemade corned beef hash it is out of this world

I am so happy with Plainview diner! I had to come to Melville on business snd was looking for some comfort food. I ordered online and my order was ready in a matter of minutes! Not only was the food fresh and delicious, but they gave me free chocolate chip cookies!! Felt like a home away from home!!! Thank you Plainville diner!! I will definitely be back!
The Plainview Diner is the perfect example of how restaurants should be handling accessibility. The ramp from the parking lot to the entrance allows those in wheelchairs and those with any other physical disabilities to safely enter and there is plenty of room for maneuvering once inside. There are multiple seating options as well to accommodate all customers. The staff takes food allergies and intolerances very seriously as well and all ingredients are printed on the menu. Would highly recommend this restaurant!

Food was good. Service not so much. He brought drinks and didnt come back for a while even thou we were ready and also needed milk for the coffee. Once the food came out he never checked in (luckily we were enjoying) however totally had to bother another server for togo boxes. Our server would go to the table next to us but then walk the long way to the kitchen instead of popping over and making sure all was well. Honestly felt like he was avoiding us and if so why? We had to flag him on his walk to another table for the check even after wrapping our food and putting the empty dishes at the end of table. The diner was not very busy. Will be back bc its around the corner and will def be requesting one of the ladies in hopes of a better experience :):)
We were in plainview attending my father in laws funeral and looked for a well reviewed place to eat. We saw someone reviewed this diner and mentioned their pastrami sandwich so we went. First off the entrance smelt like gas, it was ok where we were seated. I requested a chocolate egg cream which was pretty bad. My husband ordered the pastrami sandwich which came with the pastrami fried. My son ordered chicken tenders and when he went to eat the first one, it was not cooked completely. They did take it back offered to get him a new one but he requested a hamburger. Unfortunately that tasted as if no one cleaned the grill before cooking it. My sandwich was a turkey club which was fine. I don’t know if it was an off day or what but I would not recommend at all.

Came in for a pick up order, a man in the front was incredibly rude to me. I told him about my order and he completely ignored me. I waited in the front for about 10 minutes before someone else came to help me. Finally got my food just to find it bland, cold, and a waste of money. Won’t be returning.

I dont understand how they can make simple omelet to such a bad one. That I just left the place.
We went for breakfast. Excellent home fries, eggs and hash browns. Hash browns are bacon flavored homemade. Service was outstanding.

The waitress was good. I used to like this place a lot, but now the food is just rushed out of the kitchen. The home fries are either burnt or raw slices of potato, and the bacon tasted like it was microwaved.Get new cooks
Wanted to eat inside, both inside and outdoor eating. Decided to eat at the counter. Server told me sit at counter, one other person sitting. That was the last interaction I had with anyone. The was a woman waitress who never acknowledged me at all speaking to friends of hers that was sitting, eating at a booth. After maybe 5 to 7 minutes, I left. With the pandemic going on, I would think businesses would be clambering for business. Next time Im working in the area, Ill know not where to go.
Serve was excellent, social distancing of booths & tables! Food fresh & delicious, open for business!! Keep up the great job!
Good old suburban diner
Very nice, very typical Long Island diner. Very good food, very large portions at a rational price point. This is a very popular place so from time to time there is a wait. The line tends to move quickly so hang in there. Worth the effort.

Terrible food. The grilled cheese is not what it used to be. I could’ve made a better grilled cheese in my own kitchen with my hands tied together.

Felt like having breakfast for dinner one night. Good diners are hard to find. My meal was huge, I could hardly finish it. Certainly cost effective when it came to the volume of food for the money.

Our waitress was attentive and friendly.. Excellent service! The food was delicious.and they dont skimp on the portions. We brought apple strudel home. The entire family loved it.!

Ordered 2 twin burger deluxe to take out. When I arrived they only gave me one. Had to wait 20 minutes for the other one to be made while the first one gets ice cold. When I said to the waitress about eating cold food her answer was at least this ones hot. Burgers not cooked they way I wanted them and came with burnt buns. There are much better diners around. The quality here has gone downhill badly.

Food is really good, place is clean. They are always fast & the employees are genuinely the nicest Ive encountered at most restaurants/food establishments. The owner (I believe he is the owner) is always there when I go in & he is just as kind as the employees!
Food was ok. Service was great and quick. Unfortunately the decor needs a major overhaul. A fresh coat of paint and upgraded tables at the least. I went here back in the 90s and it needed work inside back then too. Its only gotten worse.
The food was great and the service was good even though they were really busy. We were a party of 6 and got seated quickly. The omelettes were fantastic- especially the farmers omelettes!
Our favorite diner!
Only came here as granddaughter had a competition nearby. It was after 11 and it was very busy. Got seated right away made our order. Within 5 minutes our food was in front of us hot and delicious. The coffee was hot and good, refills offered constantly. I do forget our waiters name but he was courteous, friendly all while being Super Super busy. Had breakfast and it lasted until dinner! Hot and the homefries were plentiful and definitely real potatoes. Only gripe.....uncut unbuttered toast 🥴 if in the area will try again. It was clean and calls to upgrade. Why, many people still like the retro look. As long as its clean, the staff pleasant and food good, go and enjoy yourself. UPDATE when I wrote it lasted until dinner I meant we were full until dinnertime.

Wow this is a long one so bare with me. A few friends and I went here for some classic breakfast for dinner, food was fine service was swell. When we went to pay we thought we could try separate checks, granted we didn’t ask in the beginning so that’s our bad. We assumed the computer would be able to sort it out and if it couldn’t I was planning on handling the bill while my friends paid me back. When we asked the lady at the counter if we could split the bill she said no so I pulled out my card explaining I’d pay. Then she said she would try to split it so we let her. She had been in the process of charging me and trying to figure out how much my friends owed when the line started to grow. I’m assuming the manager came up and started making a scene confusion the lady behind the counter in whatever she was trying to figure out. Then he turned to my friends and I and began reprimanding us for causing a scene. I told him that I had intended to pay for the bill at the beginning and the lady had insisted in attempting to split our checks but he ignored me and tried to get me to pay for the whole bill as it was in the beginning which would include paying for mine twice. After continuing to insult my friends and I we eventually sorted it out and left. Look I get customer service is hard I really do, but flat out blaming the customer is something you do in the back room not to their face (trust me I do it all the time ;-) I don’t think I’ll be eating here again, wish I stood up for myself and my friends more instead of letting that guy treat us like dirt :-/
Great food and service
Stopped off for lunch and it was good. Basic diner food but had big portions. Server offered us a pickle slaw and it was yummy and nice of her to offer us. I had lunch item with a soup and drink and everyone else had sandwiches. They were hot and filling and just what we needed do not hesitate to visit. From out of town but felt right at home here.
I was blessed to order the Popcorn Chicken Basket, the appetizer from this establishment. Firstly, let me start off by saying how quick the delivery time was. Typically most restaurants that deliver seem to lack when it comes to delivery time. You can have the best food in the world, but if it takes 50+ minutes to deliver to a local address, then youre doing it wrong. Fortunately, Plainview Diner has some of the QUICKEST delivery times Ive seen. And that competes with pizza places that are only a block or two from my house.Now onto the food. My only complaint was that I believed the popcorn chicken was a bit dry, but besides that, it was fantastic. The french fries were still crisp by the time they arrived, and they got the order correct!Overall, this definitely is a great diner. I have the pleasure of experiencing it at least once a month, whether its through delivery or inside the diner itself.

It was a convenient place to come for an after 9 pm dinner. Order took a bit long to arrive, but when it did, it was nice and hot, and tasted very good.Staff was very friendly, and the overall appearance of the facility looked well kept.
Ordered through Door Dash. Food arrived quickly......but was not good. The grilled cheese sandwich was not cooked enough tfor the cheese to melt and was inedible.The roast beef in the Chefs Salad had a very weird taste and couldnt eat it.
Probably one of my favorite diners around. Good food and great people. I also love the decor. It has a modernized 50s diner vibe that I love. It does get very busy during the rush on Saturday and Sunday but service is never slow.
This place is a bit of a Throwback. Very old homey feel. The food is quite good. Ample parking . Definitely an old school Diner experience

The service was great not the food. My 2 teenaged sons could not stomach the chicken cutlet park. I had a Ruben and was just as disappointed. Diners are usually a great option for us. We will NOT be returning to this diner.
Went in for a quick bite to eat and it was worth it. Was greeted and seated when I walked in. Waitress was polite and quick with my order. Food was great and it wasnt over priced. Will go back again.
