Door came packaged extremely tight. Once opened it looked tight and secure. After taking the door out I realized I had to do minimal sanding to prep for stain and seal. The prep work was excellent. Installed in about 2-3 hours and looks amazing.
We ordered from KSR a year ago. Door came well packaged and arrived without any issues. Took me and my helper about 3 hours to install. It looks great. My wife gets a compliment a week on it. Will order again.
I cannot say enough about how beautiful this door was when it arrived, how impressively it was crated for shipment, and how responsive and polite the customer service was. One of the most pleasant experiences I have had in a long time.
Update...Since making this post, the company did follow through with a product and reimbursement solution that was satisfactory. There are 2 phases of this transaction. Phase 1, the order process and the delivery of the door would have gotten 6 stars if possible. Unfortunately, we found that the door manufacturer had NOT sealed the final slab or the windows appropriate. Kurt at KSD took my concerns and even though I had to follow up multiple times, he responded with a plan to take care of us and the door. Unfortunately, that plan was never followed through on. After multiple emails, calls and texts with no returns, I had to involve a lawyer. We are out of state, but are going to continue to take this concern through the legal process. Feel free to respond directly to me if you wish to see the video of water POURING through the door in multiple places. Knots, windows and trim. They are lucky we were home and able to keep up with the flow of water. (took 4 of us sopping it up with 6-8 beach towels) or the water would have ruined our hardwood floors.
STAY AWAY FROM KSR DOORS! Take the time to read the reviews. The door if/when it arrives appears nice, but the first time I swung the door open, a vertical crack split through the wood in the center of the door. Kurt was initially very communicative, stating he would send out a replacement as the dowel system failed. Well, no responses to emails, texts, and the voice mail box is full. The companys business license is expired under its several different names.
I ordered over $4000 in doors from KSR in early 2017 for my house that was under construction. When the doors arrived, I applied poly and sanded each at least three times...spending hours and hours on these doors. When we tried to hang the Dutch door, we noticed that the bolt hole was off (see photo). Now, was that sent to me in hopes that it wouldnt be noticed? Actually, its very noticeable. The door slops back and forth. I spent $750 on this door, plus all of the hours that I applied poly and sanded. I notified Kurt, the owner of KSR doors, and he said for me to find someone to fix it and hed pay for it. I live in a small community and dont have contractors that I trust to do that. I asked him to refund part of the price so that I could haul the door to a larger town for repair. Finally he said for me to ship it back and hed pay return shipping. That still doesnt solve my problem as Id be without a door. He never offered to replace the shoddy door. I kept the shoddy door, because Im not confident that Id receive a refund. I wish that I had done my research before buying. There are plenty of skilled craftsmen out there that stand behind their products.
My door was delivered and the glass was broken. They sent a replacement but it did delay construction. They said it was faulty glass. One year later and I already need to buy a new door. The window seals were poor and condensation has gotten in-between the panes. When it rains hard, water will intrude into the house. I attempted to contact KSR via email with no response.
Our craftsman front door was built by KSR Doors and its a beautiful door, however some separating panels due to the wood moving. Once Kurt was able to get out here and see the door, he was able to quickly fix not only the issues that we saw, but others that he found before they got worse. Im very appreciative of Kurt coming out to repair our door and talk through the maintenance so we can for years enjoy the beauty of this door.
This I one of the best doors and moulding company in the State of Utah. I have a side quote garage door sales that I do on the side and my business partner and I have done business with them and he knows more than I but says they are a great company to use as a vendor.KSR Door & Mill4.5 ****Garyleescritiques
Im a custom home builder in the Chicago Area and NC area i decided to try Kurt at KSR doors for a custom home Im building in the NC area his communications and assistance were excellent, delivered the doors 34 of them on time. packaging was great not a scratch on the doors pantry door had glass trim, i read some of the reviews and was wondering if that was the same Kurt that made my doors.i will use KSR doors for all my future custom homes and will highly recommend him to all my builder friends. Thanks Kurt
Not a good experience. Everything done for us didn’t last long at all and there was no help given in making things right. We are having to pay again to have things fixed and done correctly.
Kurt does not stand behind his work. Even worse, when I reported a problem with my new door he started dodging my calls. The rail and stile are separating and the door will not close. This is a brand new door and has not even been stained or had hardware installed. Kurts only suggestion was to get a couple lag screws and pull it back together. I might would try this if he would give something in writing stating that if the door split he would replace it. But as I stated, as of yet Kurt does not stand behind his work. Will be happy to send pictures to anyone interested. Buyer beware.
After several months of waiting on a replacement door, I am finally making a review. We first went to Lowe’s last year to get a quote on French doors which was going to cost $10,000. Low and behold we stumble across KSR doors on eBay and it seemed to be very legit... spoke with Kurt, he listed me a set of knotty alder French doors for $4,000. After recieving the doors we noticed that on one of the left doors one of the slats were completely crooked above the window in the door. After my father installed the door (which I will add he has 25+ years of experience in house building) it never would close properly, we couldn’t ever get the door to shut and open like a normal door would. After more time went on, after taking the doors and making them plum several several times we realize that the problem all along is that the door is completely bowed. I will add that the door was never one time out in the weather. We contact Kurt over the matter and he gives us the run around for a few weeks telling us to watch this video and try this and that. Nothing worked. So Kurt finally agrees to ship to us (1) of the 2 doors. Weeks go by, we contact Kurt and he assures us the glass has been received and it will ship out this week come “hell or high water”. Now it’s been several months. Well, here we are in January with no new door and Kurt is now dodging our phone calls and texts and also not relying to my emails. So whatever you do DO NOT buy from KSR door... I can promise it will be the worst decision you ever made. And Kurt, buddy.. I don’t know how you sleep at night.
We have been in the door business for over 12 years and have worked with KSR numerous times over the last few years on numerous jobs. We have always been pleased with their work, have had our customers pleased with their work. KSR has sold hundreds of doors and door packages so I wouldnt judge this company based on 2 reviews.
Thank you KSR Door & Mill for making buying my front door on the internet a comfortable experience. It was a great surprise to get the door sooner than you said.We love our door! We plan on buying our interior doors from you as well.

Ordered a beautiful door from Kurt. It was delivered and looked great. However, the varnish wasnt completely dry on the trim wood and it stuck together and splintered when I pulled it apart. I called Kurt and he said he wood send out replacement boards within a day or two. Two weeks went by and nothing was delivered. I called Kurt back. He asked me to text him as a reminder and he would get the boards shipped. Three weeks later and I dont have my trim pieces. Kurt will not return my calls or my texts. Hes all about getting your money but he could really care less about customer service. Kurt is not a man of his word, hes not honest and has no integrity. Dont go through what I have had to deal with. Steer clear of Kurt and KSR Doors. Buy local from someone who will stand behind their doors. Its obvious that Kurt does not.
Kurt was easy to work with during the whole ordering process and the door itself was very nice when it arrived. We did have an issue with trim pieces and the dentil shelf (which was the main part of the door) not shipping with the door itself and had to contact him to have the parts shipped. Also, the door didnt come with any instructions at all so our contractor had to get on the phone with him to clear up some things. He promised us a free entry door handleset for our troubles but never actually shipped the handleset out (even after multiple contact attempts).
According to Utahs Division of Corporations and Commercial Code this Business has not been registered since 11/28/2016. Id be very wary of doing any business with anyone attached to Robin Sutherland (see the review below). Her and her husband Chris have been scamming people on EBay for over a decade. They keep changing the name of their business and enlisting new people in their scam just to dump them in the end when they run from their debts. The knotty alder door community is appalled by their continued scamming. Id be surprised if a class action lawsuit didnt catch up to them sooner rather than later. You can only steal thousands of money from people for so long before it catches up with you. BUYERS BEWARE!!!
Love the door. Great shop!!
As a custom home builder in northern Michigan, I strive for nothing less than pure excellence. Kurt was very good about communicating, until he got ahold of my money. My door was promised to be shipped in 14 days from the date the order was placed. 3 months later a large heavy box arrives, and my frustration is lessened. That is until I opened the crate. This door with sidelights was not only the worst built door I have ever used, it was the WRONG size. Transom was too big, sidelights way to big. The hinge style did not line up with the top rail, the side light styles and rails did not line up, gaps in them, the door was built with drywall screws!! And they were not even pre drilled!!! Wood was split everywhere (knotty alder) not a lick of glue was used. After many attempts to contact Kurt over the next three weeks (who runs his business off his iPhone) he finally answered, and when confronted with the problem, he acted as if he knew we would be calling. He wanted another $1500 plus shipping to rebuild the sidelights and transom.I am already into this door for $4000 - no way I am sending more money. I asked him to send me shipping instructions and make arrangements to ship the door back and refund my money. He agreed then never took my call again. Now I have a door that I have to fully rebuild, had to buy another door from another manufacture and incur massive delays as a result. My gut tells me Kurt has either a vice that consumes his mind, money and ethics or he is simply so deep in debt all he cares about is getting that customer on the hook for the money.I did try to recover my funds from my bank however Kurts strategy to delay the shipment 90 days worked for him to keep my money, as my banks statute of limitations for recovery of funds in this situation is, yep you guessed it 90 days.Unless you can visit Kurt directly, I would suggest that you keep looking for a wood door supplier. I ended up using Nicks Building Supply and the door is amazing!
