I no longer live in the USA, but this store is PEAK fabric store for me. Have popped by for 26 years and its still just as amazing as always. Truly the best fabric store in New England IMHO. If you love quality, gorgeous batik, this is a must-visit! I still own items I made from their fabrics. Worn out from heavy use, but I hung onto them because I just love them so much.

I love having a local shop with everything I might need just around the corner. Portsmouth Fabric Co. has a beautiful selection of fabrics, needles, thread, accessories, and machines. They also host a variety of classes of you’re looking to learn a new skill or hone in on one you already have. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the shop is always clean. Highly recommend!

This is a beautiful fabric shop with an excellent selection. However, when they “cut” fabric, they start the cut and rip the rest of the fabric resulting in a frayed edge that is not square and must be trimmed before use. At $12+ a yard, the quality of service should be better.

The fabrics are fairly gorgeous, the parking was horrible. Do not get me started on the service, my friend and I spent about 2 hours picking out fabrics. When a staff member came to, check on us, she was outwardly disgusted by the amount of our fabrics. Then, when we were finally at the front of the line, she took over 1 1/2 hours to cut a few pieces of fabric. Additionally, she rang up other people mid cut, at one point she took a solid 30 minute break to talk to the customers. Then she stuffed our fabrics in the bag without caring that she was wrinkling it, and causing it to fray. Good fabric, bad parking, horrid service.

I take sewing classes here, great place to learn and Margi the instructor is awesome. They also have beautiful fabrics at a great price as well. All the employees here are very pleasant and very helpful with any questions I have had.

Theyre always really friendly and helpful here! I got the best sewing machine Ive ever owned here and it comes with a bunch of free lessons to help me learn to use it. This place is great and I would highly recommend them!

Not very helpful staff, and at times quite rude. After spending over $100.00 and traveling an hour to get to Portsmouth it was a disappointing experience. After returning home and starting to work the fabric I found it frustrating to deal with how the staff ripped the fabric rather than cutting it. Not sure I will return. Giving a three star rating due to the quality and quantity of fabric.
