Easy in and easy out- deli cheese precut fresh and in a baggie picked up and go.Products are top notch..prices are rising and todays groceries were $3 more than usual. Overall worth it for quality.

Just got berated by my cashier for having 20 items in the 14 items or fewer line. There was only one register open (his)?? So not really sure what I was supposed to do? Glad that the counting police is on top of it though! Decent selection, but I will not be shopping at Hannaford anymore if this how they let their employees speak to well-meaning customers. Just awful.

I cant remember if Hannaford has been at this location for decades. I do remember that Sears had a catalog store and there was a toy model shoppe.Anyway, very clean and upkept inside. I didnt notice anyone without a face mask, though, it doesnt bother me. (Staff are not to approach customers because of safety reasons. Customers can become belligerent and that could put an associate at risk.) Isles are marked for travel.Hannaford has higher prices and less selection than competition. But, they have a good looking produce, no I am not looking for dates, meat 🍖 and prepared food section. Plenty of parking.Redbox, Coinstar and ATM available.

We love the fact we can walk here from downtown for convenience. However, due to some recent store changes and whole new interior construction and re-branding (and Im sure this is coming from way up the corporate ladder), the store is very Wal-Mart like now? Also, the new registers make it very awkward to unload groceries and pay. There used to be a friendly team of staff over the years, which seem to have been dispersed and replaced with high school students or very strange/interesting people. For example, I recently was buying my weekly groceries, so a semi-full cart of goods. There were two young gentlemen checking my cart out and in doing so goofing around a little bit with one another (I could care less, good for them for having an after school job). However, the young gentleman bagging, placed my eggs in the bottom of the cart, then plopped a case of water right on top. I happened to see it and I was like were those my eggs?. And he was like uhhhh, maybe? We pulled them out and they were smashed. He ran to grab another carton, which was fine (hes learning, whatev). Came back, went to finish loading the cart, then placed the eggs in a bag with a container of cranberry juice and milk. I didnt see this, but asked him where he stuck the eggs, as I was walking away. He then found them under a couple of other bags and, guess what, smashed again.Weve just been having some weird experiences here lately just within the last few months, after years of shopping here. Rotten corn on the cob, bugs in our peppers, expired beans, rotten fish (clearly only noticing after opening the package and the smell was horrendous), higher prices, fresh food expiring and rotting way earlier than our other produces form the farmers market or Market Basket (days before their listed expiration dates as well).I rarely write a meh review, but something weird is going on here. I never thought it would take me an hour to find peanut butter among the mislabeled aisles, constant shuffling of goods around the store. I hope the new management? gets it right soon. Thank god we have other options in the meantime!

Always have friendly and efficient staff working. I appreciate the courteous clerks. Store is constantly being stocked and cleaned.

Undergoing remodeling. Much confusion, even among staff. Customer Service seem inordinately busy in relation to the balance of the store. Barely able to answer my simple question inquiring after Notary service.

Its a smaller grocery store thats been on this site for decades, good quality food and produce with a nice meat counter and bakery. The plaza also has ten or so other stores and resterants that make up a nice neighborhood.

Not bad, but should be much better. Ill begin by saying the staff and service are great, no issues there. The store is clean as well. The negatives are the size of the store. It is just too small. The immediate area around the store has a surging population so the store is becoming more crowded by the day. There is also a very small selection of hot food and pre-made meals. And shelf space is too limited to provide the best possible selection, there are certain hard to find items that the store doesnt consistently have in stock or that the small shelf space means it runs out quickly. This store is in dire need of expansion.

A definite five star rating. Been going here since I was just a young man and having seen it through all the many changes. I can truly say that it is a perfect store for locals and passers-by. Great produce and meat as well as a health food section. The best is the ready made food and the meals to heat and serve at home.

I’m not shopping here anymore, they allow people to walk in the store with no masks or gloves during a pandemic! Completley unsanitary and no respect for human life. I dont feel comfortable shopping here anymore knowing that management does not care if people spread the virus in their store. I’ll only be shopping at supermarkets that require every customer to wear a mask and gloves, until there is a vaccine. Clean up your act Hannaford!

I have been shopping at this store for over 40 years (formerly Pic&Pay) and I will no longer be a customer. The store does not enforce social distancing, mask wearing, or customer flow signage. The customers flagrantly violate proper pandemic rules and are generally inconsiderate.

This supermarket is great if you are visiting Portsmouth this place has has a hot bar wings Onion rings and few other things. I live locally there for a while price is moderate but convenient, fresh and friendly. Produce is great there also.

Staff seem to be in another world talking to each other. Store is comfortable but has little variety on the shelves or salad bar. :( Prices are 50cents to a dollar more then others.

My favorite store. Everything is always fresh, especially meat. Always friendly staff and a clean store. Many choices of products and delicious pastries. You can also make a salad yourself and take a delicious soup

I love the stir-fry lunch counter but unfortunately the woman who works it in the weekday afternoons is about as friendly as a crocodile. If you dont like your job, find another one that you do like!

We have been a loyal Hannaford customer for years but from now on I will find another place for our groceries. The staff is just rude....

Clean great customer service

I partially enjoy this Hannaford. It has more variety in hot foods compared to most others. The hot foods employees are friendly and always willing to help. The only thing that annoys me is the stir fry is closed for two hours(2-4) in the middle of the day! There have been many times where I have showed up only to be turned away because it was 2:05.

10 Stars is more like it! Valerie at the deli counter was so nice and overall, the whole entire staff are just genuinely very nice and willing to help. Other grocery stores should all be like this. Definitely always like coming here. Great job Hannafords!

I love this grocery store. A year ago I moved 40 minutes from this town but because I visit it at least twice a week I still do my grocery shopping here. Why? It is fresh, friendly, and inexpensive. The floor layout isnt the best because it is a rather old building but you get used to it.

Always convenient and they have everything I need, with polite, attentive people working there.

I like this place! Its good for basic grocery. Salad bar, grilled chicken, fish counter - they will steam lobster for you, meat counter, pastry section with fresh muffins every day. There is a additional section with laundry products, pet food, household needs. I usually use the option of self checkout.

I went here to get Lobster and steamers. They steamed them for me for free. Great price for the lobster also, $5.99 per pound and the Steamers were $5 per pound. Best prices that Ive seen in this area

They didnt have anything that I wanted its too hard for me to get there because I ride the bus to there its just easier for me to go to Market Basket or to go to Walmart

Not enough registers open long time at checkout

The Meat and Produce help is phenomenal. The clerk wrapped up my fish and meats and even put labels with dates on them so I could use them before they expired.

Hanafords is a large supermarket. Around most of outer edges, it is set up as if you are in small shops: Deli, fruit stand, florist, seafood pound, butcher (will cut to order), baker and dairy. In the center, the aisles are wide and well marked even in the freezer section. They have very high quality meats, cheeses, fruit and vegetables. Carridges are in the center front and there are 2 shopping scooters. The staff are friendly and helpful.

One of Portsmouths more upscale grocery stores. They have a great hot bar, salad bar, and sushi offerings around lunch time.

Went in on their grand reopening day, so we were spoiled! Lots of samples, Sushi bar was great and cut fruit was delicious. Grabbed a cup of coffee from the Keurig machine and drank while I shopped. Very clean, well stocked and impressive customer service the entire way through the store. From the Midwest here to visit and I wasnt too offended by the prices. Very similar to what I normally pay.

Quick, convenient, pretty decent parking, a good selection, open on holidays, and a close vicinity to downtown Portsmouth and residential neighborhoods makes this a very good supermarket.

As for Hannaford’s goes I pick out my food, go and pay for it and go on with my day. The only thing I would change is this store is tiny and is much overdue for a renovation. It is a confusing layout and the bakery is in the corner of the meat department which is confusing.

Beware of this place this people have a good price on some articles on the gondolas and a higher price on the registers.. be vigilant.. a regular employees refused to accept the mistake.. Beware especially seniors citizens

The place is nice. Only problem is that they need to realize one person alone cant run customer service and a cashier at the same time.

Too expensive. Add a dollar to every individual thing you buy pretty much. I tend to go there because I live on Sagamore ave and there isnt any where else to go out of pure lazyness
