Honestly the nicest and realest people. The kind of people that make you stoked to be from New England. The salt of the earth type people. The people who work here are the type of people who will hold the door open for from 100 yards away and then say “thank you” afterwards.
Interactions did not inspire confidence that my package will make it to its international destination, and the way things were handled were not in a professional manner. I will not personally return as I have a bad taste in my mouth, however other reviewers seem to have had positive reviews. Had I not had a direct email that only they get for feedback, I wouldn’t have even left this review. I just hope my package gets to its final destination, as it was a total risk dealing with this company.

We had a wooden bench and some clothing that needed to get to Northern Ireland and every other shipper we found quoted close to or more than $2,000.Jeff, Caitlin, and Shaun worked with us to find the best pricing (less than half that amount) and were quick to answer our questions about the shipment.We drove down to Portsmouth from the Plymouth, NH, area and we were extremely impressed with their in-store customer service. Staff were wearing masks or face shields, there were clear social distancing measures in place, and they were just as friendly in-person as they were over e-mail.Our shipment was carefully packed and arrived safely in only six days! We will definitely use the Parcel Room again for future international shipments. Thank you!

Nice group of employees. They work well together. I needed something notarized. They told me it wasnt written correctly, gave me some guidance, I went back to my car and made changes to the document on my iphone (God bless iCloud), then went back into the store and it was notarized with two witnesses. Given that people are sheltering in place, I could not find two people to sign on, so two employees at the store did the deed.My only complaint, and it is more on behalf of the employees rather than about them, is that several people were in the store not wearing masks, and one with a small child. I was floored, especially in a store that isnt huge, where social distancing is a challenge. The sign on the door asks customers to wear masks if they have one. It should read, please do not enter without a mask, and it would also be good to limit the number of customers that can be in the store at once. Again, my concern here is mostly for those four employees. Come on folks, this has to be a team effort.Thanks for great service and attention. Will definitely use their services in the future.
A few weeks ago I purchased a pair of 250- 300 yr old antique wall clocks. Based on a favorable cost estimate I chose Parcel Room to pack and ship the clocks. I provided Jeff, the owner, a long list of packing features that I deemed important.Parcel Room fulfilled every request and provided the best packing Ive seen in my ten years of buying/selling antique clocks. Parcel Room was highly efficient in materials and technique. And they answered my questions/concerns quickly. They chose FedEx to handle the shipment, which went efficiently and with no damage/rough handling.I look forward to working with them again.Jim D.
Absolutely one of the worst shipping centers, you are far better off going to an official UPS/FedEx or the USPS if need be. Had sent a package on Sun to be delivered in four days by Wed only to hear back my package to be delivered was damaged in transit and did not reach its destination with virtually no explanation from the owner/manager. I will give benifit of the doubt that UPS is at fault here however the higher prices would be justified if only not for the abysmal customer service and lack of care.
Significantly over priced compared to the primary carrier; I guess they dont get a break from them and thats how they make their money, but still! Just be warned; youre gonna pay more than if you just went to the carrier youre going to be using anyhow. Service was fine, but they take a lot of your personal information.
Fabulous experience. Im not one to ship a lot but when I do I go to the Parcel Room. They are super efficient and staff are extremely personable. Which is a huge plus. Its hard to find clerks who are just nice. So good job Parcel Room staff! You guys are awesome!
If you sell guitars once in a while like I do on ebay this is only 1 of 2 custom box making machines in the country that will custom make a box to fit a guitar perfectly! Well packed, shawn has good social skills and its easy to get to! Will be back!
This is a first rate, cordial and helpful team of good folks. We had to ship a 60x40 oil painting suspended in a frame, tricky job. They packed it beautifully, bubble wrapped and then protected by plywood, and arranged the transport to another state. This piece was too large for UPS or Fedex so it went motor freight. We expected it to take a week: the recipient contacted me the next day to say it had arrived in perfect condition. You get what you pay for, and these folks are pros. I have used them before for small stuff, and now Id use them for anything.
I drop off my packages here all the time and every time not only myself but observe other customers being serviced quickly and professionally by the employees here. They dont waste time, have a good system in place for dropping off (especially if you have your name & info in their system) and of course if you need to send anything. Many shipping centers Ive been to generally had sporadic number of employees or limited on the service they offer.I highly recommend this place if you want courteous, professional and solid customer service. The way many business should be.
Jeff is the best. Even before we were customers he took the time to explain and teach us how to properly handle freight. Fast forward a year where weve worked together on approximately 15 freight shipments and we couldnt be happier. Parcel Room internationally shipped my personal belongings. They picked up the items, securely packaged them, then arranged all the shipping paperwork, customs documentation - everything from door-to-door.All my stuff arrived as predicted, with no damage (there were a number of large pictures theyd packaged).No hassle, no fuss, competitive pricing, extremely efficient, and thoroughly nice people too.I cannot praise Parcel Rooms service enough.
Excellent experience. Jeff and his crew did a terrific job of packing and protecting a pair of delicate, 200-year-old paintings that I had shipped to me from Maine to Houston, Texas. Excellently packed and they arrived in less than a week. Very pleased and will definitely look to them in the future.

I contracted with Parcel Room to handle my mail for me. This was the most difficult experience I have ever had. They continued to insist I needed a USPS form 1583 for any person to receive mail in the box. The form states, up to 5 people and they must have verifiable identification. Parcel Room requires All persons must show ID, Fill out a form and must be notarized. For the record, My new address has 8 last names and they deliver the mail without checking anybodies ID never mind it being notarized. My recommendation is use ANY other firm, NOT Parcel Room!!!!
Ive had a mail box here since 2006 and the service has always been great. I dont need a box in Portsmouth any more so I wont be using them from now on. Pity!Actually, Ill use them one more time when Im shipping the last of my stuff from Portsmouth. They have good strong packing materials, much better than UHauls.

There are cheaper and friendlier places to ship your stuff.Try the USPS, FedEx or UPS Store. If you need packing and crating then maybe these guys are the ticket - but be prepared to pay top dollar + and deal with the hassle of working with these guys. The officiousness of this place is borderline Soviet Bureaucrat School of customer service.

Im truck driver who cant physically be present to sign for my own packages and this place is an absolute life saver. Their mailboxes are well worth it.
The price they attempted to charge me was over double what all three of the major postal carriers quoted me, and still has me dumbfounded. If you are attempting to ship there, cross-check their prices with carriers quotes online or you might get price-gouged. Heres my example:I brought in an unpackaged amplifier to ship to Florida. I was quoted over $30 to package my amp, e.g. put it in a box and wrap it in plastic. That seemed steep, but I was ok with it. I understand paying a premium to have others do work you dont want to. Plus, the store is clean and organized, and the staff is professional and friendly. Someone has to pay for all that. The shipping costs they quoted me, however, for this 22 x 17 x 10 package weighing 27lbs started at $148 with FedEx. Most rates fell between $200 and $300, and some were over $450. For the starting price, I could fly to Florida and deliver it myself. For the higher prices, I could fly to Florida, deliver it, and go to Disney World before coming back.Having just shipped a larger, heavier, more valuable item fully insured with USPS priority mail for under $90 the week before, I was skeptical and left. Then I checked online - if you take those same exact dimensions and that same exact weight, and plug it into FedExs, UPSs, or USPSs websites, their rates all start between $46-$52 - and thats for three-day guaranteed service. With insurance, its $72. One-day service with USPS is $152 - the same as standard ground shipping at the Parcel Room. I ended up packaging it myself and shipping it USPS Priority 3-day, tracked and fully insured, for $82 including packaging.This has left a bad taste in my mouth for the Parcel Room. I hope theres a rational explanation for the difference. I expected, and was prepared, to pay a premium for having them package and ship it, but an upcharge of over 100% for simply being the middle man is unscrupulous. I strongly urge anyone going there to double check their quoted rates with rate calculators online.

Didnt seem like they understood their services. We wanted mail scanned and then shredded and keep only ones we specify, they kept asking us when they should shred our accumulated mail. Kind of pricey for the service. Opened another persons mail that wasnt included in the names we gave, supposedly the rule was that mail was supposed to be sent back to sender and not opened. Would not use them again.

This is the worst shipping place ever. They refused to take pre paid parcel without id, wich I left in the parking lot. This is the second time. The first time they asked me for my id I when using my credit card for a 15 dollar purchase. Will never go again nither should you!!!!!!!!!
