Great place, huge selection with lots of variety. Only gripe is they put a price sticker on one of the discs and it’s left a big smudge after having to work to peel it off, the price sticker on the outside of the case probably would’ve sufficed…

Cool atmosphere with rock posters covering the walls. The amount of Record Store Day releases from the last two RSD was great. The vinyl inventory on hand was less than I anticipated but the prices are reasonable. So much else to look at including cds, dvds, tshirts and posters. Great record store.

I guess I was spoiled with Vintage Vinyl because anytime I went in there they always had something that I was looking for. This places was the complete opposite very cluttered and sloppy and had absolutely nothing I was looking for. Unfortunately this is one of the last record stores in the area to buy cds so I guess its online ordering for now on.

Still fabulous after all these years!I came here in the 80s to hunt for vinyl. And now its 2021 and Im rediscovering how sweet it is to dig through a bin and discover a memory.Bought a new release that was cheaper than other places Id checked. Dug through the used bins and found items that are going for way more on auction sites. Came home with 36 dollar bin finds, a Springsteen 1973 release, and that new release I mentioned. They even had turntables cheaper than the big box stores.I will now be visiting them more frequently!

I love this place. Its always a lot of fun looking through the collections, vinyl, CDs, and DVDs. I probably am one of the oldest customers: the owner started selling vinyl out of a van in the late 70s, so if he was at Englishtown or Rt. 1, I am sure I bought albums from him. The first time I saw a CD was when they had the little store on Nassau Street in the early 80s. You can find some amazing stuff here. One night, I bought a pile of movies and the clerk said, I usually dont comment on customers purchases, but I happen to notice that in every one of these movies, there are violent deaths. Just take it easy out there tonight. Okay? Years later I still laugh. Great place, great staff.

I just pulled out a record i bought at PREX a while back, and realized how much I hated the price tag sticker stuck right on the album cover. I tried to remove it and it was impossible to not damage the album cover permanently. Its frankly enraging. Some record stores put price stickers right on the album cover, and others make it a point not to. PREX is a beloved institution, their used DVD selection is unmatched, but I for one will never buy vinyl there again.

Although it doesnt look like much from the front, walk in and the place is huge. The place is a little chaotic at first, but once you start walking around everything falls into understanding and you can find most any band there in cd and/or vinyl. They have a budget section where you can find many good and unknown cds from big bands for just around 2 bucks. Would reccomend a visit but time flies when youre browsing!

I have been shopping at PREX since the late 1980s and its always played an important role in my life. As a high school kid it helped me find some of the records Id hear on WPRB. After I returned from college, it helped me stay connected to the indie scene. And even though I moved up to Hoboken 27 years ago, I still come down regularly and its a treat -- the selection, especially used, is wider and larger than any other east coast shop Im aware of. Always interesting characters around and the staff is super cool. (Shout out to Amanda!) Thank you, Princeton Record Exchange!

Selection is good, but almost all of the records i purchase are warped and sound awful, which is hard to notice until you get home and play them. i also think they have more in inventory than they can handle. you really have to be there for a couple hours to look through everything to find what youre searching for. a lot of boxes are on the ground under the tables and it makes it hard to look through them without blocking the aisles and having to constantly move out of the way for other customers to pass. the princeton location is nice, but they have far more than enough inventory to open a second store that may be able to better distribute products. prices arent bad.

This place is the best. Sincerely one of my favorite record shops on earth. Super friendly staff, excellent selection, yesterday I went in and Bowie was playing. I cant be happier there. Well, except that I had to resist spending money.I stopped by yesterday to unload some CDs and DVDs that I didnt want to part out individually on ebay. I always expect around 20%-30% of my calculated value. The store has to pay for electricity, rent, employee salary, and it might sit for a long time. Plus theyd like to make a profit. Anyway in about 15 minutes they came back and offered me 50% of the value number I had in my mind. Way more than I thought and soooooo worth it compared to trying to part them all out, ship them one by one, and deal with the internet. They caught a bunch they couldnt sell because of scratches and I didnt want to bother taking them, I hate throwing out art of any kind. So they offered to do away with them for me. Easy peasy.Again whether youre buying or selling you cant go wrong at Princeton Record Exchange. Honest, fair, sincerely great people and theyve been that way with me anyway for over 20 years! Thanks!

This is my favorite record store in NJ. I spend most of my time combing through the DVDs and finding all my favorite movies and TV shows so that I am not at the mercy of hulu and netflix and I can watch them whenever I want. Having comfort movies available is important... I score 2 or 3 dollar dvds here every time. Of course, everyone goes here now, so you have to get lucky, so I suggest buying that boxed set of your favorite series when you see it. I also love the CDs. Its a wonderful store and Im happy to support it.

They refused me entrance because of my medical exemption regarding wearing a mask...Regardless of the Governors Executive Order stating;Require workers and customers to wear cloth face coverings while on the premises, EXCEPT WHERE DOING SO WOULD INHIBIT THAT INDIVIDUALS HEALTH or where the individual is under two years of age, and require workers to wear gloves when in contact with customers or goods.Im a 60yr old man whos breathing is compromised because of triple bypass surgery and wearing a mask INHIBITS my ability to take normal breaths...NONE OF THIS IS ANY OF THEIR BUSINESS AND IS ILLEGAL TO INQUIRE ABOUT MY MEDICAL STATUS!I think these employees need better training in understanding the rules before enforcing them without common sense.

It is very hard these days to find a record store with such a large selection these days. Yes, buying music online is convenient, but it will never be the same as going into a record store, flipping through a collection of vinyl or CDs, and getting that instant joy when you find an album that you have been looking for but could not find.Thank you for being in business and providing that instant joy to many music collectors.

The store itself - 5 starCustomer service - 0 starWell, we drove 1 and a half hours to come here. My husband grew up in Princeton Junction and used to come here all the time. We were very excited to bring our 12 year old son here to pick out some stuff he likes. Unfortunately, the experience was so bad we will definitely not be returning. Before we even entered the store we had to stand outside because they have a 25 person limit. 🙄 We finally get in and are LOVING the amount of cds, records, etc.. were seeing. We cant wait to start our hunt. Then, it begins. The workers continously harrassed my son about his mask. He face is slim so it doesnt fit him well. Its a medical mask and it slides down past his nose (still covering his mouth). One woman was so disgustingly rude that I almost put back all our items and left but I didnt want to be the cause of my sons bad experience. He was having such a hard time breathing that his face started turning bright red. We eventually left and he only was able to pick out 3 cds. My husband apologized to me and said back when he was a kid it wasnt like this. The workers were so chill and kick back. Oh well, well just take our money elsewhere. I would ALWAYS rather give my money to a mom and pop shop but 🤷‍♀️.
