Its not a happy place, especially for being a chocolate shop. Ive been to the store several times, and on all but one occasion, there has been a lot of verbal and written lecturing about what you can and cannot do in the store. This is not limited to masks. if you go in, note the signs as well as the behaviors. You are being talked down to. Not pleasant. I will only go there now as a last resort to mail packages if I cannot get to the post office.

Great selection of local Virginia wine which is specially delivered to their shop. Also very good chocolates especially the Carmel ones. Handmade soaps are good as well. They also sell blue crab ceramics and some lake/water themed house decor.

Enjoyed the store with a variety of local VA items, but mainly went there for the chocolate and was disappointed. It was great that the saleswoman knew about the chocolates and could share details with us and the price is quite good for handmade chocolates (we got 5 pieces in a bag for $5.02- so just about $1 per piece), but it shows in the taste- which for me is the main component :( The barks are better than their truffles, but neither are special (hate to say that as I love supporting local chocolatiers). I travel the world enjoying artisan/craft chocolates and truffles, so my tastes are possibly a bit different than yours. As such dont let me steer you away from getting a few pieces as theyre not expensive, but there are much better chocolates in the area from other local chocolatiers.

The chocolate and wine selection is really great! Ive enjoyed everything that Ive tasted from this spot. They relegate the chocolate mostly to one side of the store, and I wish it were more spread about. The cashier was marginally unpleasant and made me a little uncomfortable. Maybe a bad day? Im going to give her the benefit of the doubt because it was quite busy and social distancing was hard.

My kids and I love Chesapeake Chocolates! Doris and the rest of the staff are so kind and welcoming to us. The chocolate is delicious, and they always have adorable, seasonal chocolates for every occasion. The shop is a great place to buy gifts, too, with an excellent selection of Virginia wines and handmade crafts.

Hand made chocolates made in small batches are the main draw here, but the store also sells jewelry, scarves, cards, wine and other gift items. Lovely little place. And the chocolate is delicious. I almost forgot: there is a Post Office inside the store.

Excellent chocolates. Also love the spiced grape wine served warm. The entrance to Chesapeake Chocolates is on the lake side of the plaza. Got a lot of my Christmas shopping done there in a matter of minutes.

Delicious chocolates! Me and my friends come here sometimes, and they all LOVE it! I’m always so excited when I get a chocolate from here. I reccomend it.

Fantastic chocolates, locally owned, friendly and does custom orders, quickly. I am a 5year, 4-6 times per year, repeat customer. Doris is top notch!

Excellent chocolate made on-premises, at prices that are competitive with other places that bring theirs in. Be sure and confirm the hours with them, because Google had them wrong for me. NEW: They are now also a contract post office.
