(Someones review from 1 year ago) Usually I love this place and their selection and have sold to them many times, but highly disappointed with how my last sell went. I dropped off items this past Saturday - one basket and one tote. They went through the basket and bought items, but not the tote, then proceeded to tell me my items were not freshly laundered (even though they were) and everything had stains/excessive wear so they couldn’t take it. Once I was home, I opened the tote to see what they didn’t take and all they did was take the books off the top. Every piece of clothing was left folded and placed in the exact same order I dropped it off in. I’m not even upset that they didn’t buy much, just upset that I got lied to!Sad to say this just happened to me TODAY! Dropped off tote of clothes, they didnt even go through them, all clothes were still folded and placed the way my husband and I put them in. Lady said, they need to be freshly laundered, even when I triple wash before trying to sell clothes. I kid you not, I wasnt in the car for 5 minutes before we got the ding that they were done, when they told us a 2 1/2 hour wait. The lady was short with me and a tad rude about it, I specifically asked her, all of the clothes? And she said yes, even though none of the clothes had been moved. I have been shopping here since our daughter was born but I am NEVER going back. Will go to the one near Williamson Road as they ACTUALLY went through every piece of clothing and bought some. Shame on them lying to the person above and shame on them for doing the same thing a year later!

HORRIBLE!! I took 2 bedrooms worth of stuff to them to sell. The first week went by with me calling 3 times no answer on when my check would be ready. Second week no calls or texts i call back the manager said they have a 2 day policy and that it was all donated. She was suppose to have the store owner call but apparently lied since they havent. Worst experience ever. For being a store manager she was uneducated on policies had a horrible attitude. I literally see how they make money now. By SCAMMING PEOPLE

If u need good kid stuff at good prices...then what are u waiting for. Get in there now!!

Me and my wife and our two little girls went in to look around, and I was asked if I had mask! So I was refused service due to not having a mask on! I have breathing issues and it’s hard for me to wear a mask! So they lost our service as customers! I like the Town Square Store better!

You can buy the same stuff brand new from T.J Maxx for the same price or cheaper.

Good selection and for most part prices, but not very good with prices offered for things selling.

My daughter and I went shopping at this store today for her 3 month old baby. Several of the items we bought were supposed to be 60% off. When we got back to Christiansburg we discovered that the sales clerk, ANH, only gave us 50%. I called the store expecting them to have me send them a copy of the receipt and they would credit my debit card, with the difference, send us a store credit, or possibly give her some points on her account. But NO! Instead I was told I would have to drive back down there, they would return everything and ring it up again. I explained that I live 45 minutes away and I shouldnt have to pay for their mistake. She said that is their only option. So, they made the mistake, not me but they want their customers to be the ones to pay for it.This is very poor customer service and ZERO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION! We travel to Roanoke to shop often but Im pretty sure they will never get another dime from me!!!

Firsthand I wanted to leave a review on your Facebook page but it really tells you something about a business that decides to personally turn off reviews on Facebook.With all the shenanigans that businesses are pulling with discrimination during the pandemic they decided to be one of those businesses. Back in August 2020 I promised myself I would never spend any of my money in this place after the way they treated me. But I did return and spend money yesterday. After shopping and waiting for my mother to pay. I ask my mother to watch my baby so I can use the bathroom. It was close to closing time 8pm & my daughter takes seizures medication at 8 and I hold her for 1 hr after so she doesnt spit it up. So that time was going to be spent in the car. The urgency to use the restroom was incredibly important but nobody should actually have to spell out their story why they have to use it they had it bathroom available before and they decided to shut it down. I was told by the employee that the public restrooms is now closed due to the coronavirus. If your so sacred of germs why would you not want your customers to have the opportunity to wash their hands after touching all the dirty hangers and toys. Some people are allergic to sanitizer plus it has bad chemicals in it, California cant sell sanitizer with without a warning on the shelf. Soap and water is the best. Why close down your restroom? Also your in the business to cater to pregnant women. Mothers with babies and children. Why would you want them to leave to go out to make a bowel movement elsewhere? You recommended for me to walk to Hardees to use the restroom. Now dose the Hardees manager know youre sending your customers to use their restroom?Wheres a closer place to once apon a child...the parking lot by employees cars? Do you wanna see diapers/tampons in your parking lot?Whats your competitor business that you strive to be like? Lets just say its Toys R Us now picture that store shutting down the public bathrooms. Um... you cant even imagine that because that business would never do that to parents & kids. They are a type of business that puts free diapers in the bathroom.You can do better.- I will never shopping at this location and this time I mean NEVER!P.S. I will be sharing my experience with followers on different so social media platforms.

I took my sons old clothes into here and they denied half of the items. There were nice jeans like these i was trying to give them and they wouldn’t accept. how rude.

The service is good and the items themselves seem fairly priced. My sister takes me there when she needs an extra hand with her kids and Ive only had good service. I wish the isles were bigger though, and a lot of the shelving seems precarious. Idk man, its baby goodwill, not much to say.

The last few times I’ve been here, I’ve received nothing but unprofessional customer service. No one greets you when you walk in, as you come to check out the girls behind the other desk just stare waiting for someone else to come help you as if they don’t see me standing there to check out, today I overheard two staff members talking about another staff member. There is this one girl who has a TERRIBLE ATTITUDE & has a issue with rolling her eyes in front of you. The staff here are just RUDE!! I love coming to shop here for my son but I dread coming in just because the customer service here is a ZERO!!! Train your staff to treat everyone equally and how to properly DO their JOB without looking miserable.

I was walking around picking stuff out for my daughter and this man came in and dropped stuff off for them to look at .. after he left I heard one employee tell another not to take much of what he brought because he was rude .. he wasn’t rude at all and even if he was that is not professional. Now I know why they never take but a few things of what I bring and I know what I bring is in good condition and properly folded some even were brand new . I’m never going back

I’ve been going into platos closet & once upon a child for 10 years now after today I will probably NEVER go back again ! After walking into the store to sell clothes, was never once greeted properly or at all for that matter for the skinny blonde to only treat me as if I was trash or something & not even check my clothes in . I was discriminated & my feelings are hurt . I will let family members & friends about this story. What’s sad is that my mother & little sister are in these stores every week if not twice a week & they refuse to return.

They tell you they require masks on EVERYBODY. Even though one in our party was special needs. Then on top of it, they have signs saying 6 feet essential, even though it is impossible. They let too many people in for 6 ft. Then on top of that, they let the toy section become a disaster zone with germ spreading children playing with ALL the toys to the point of being hazardous. We decide to stop shopping and just get the things that were supposed to be on sale just to find out, it wasnt what it was supposed to say. One of the not sleepwear literally said Fun time at bedtime. How are you going to say that isnt sleepwear?! So much contradiction. NOT going back.

I will never visit this store again. We tried to sell 1 bag of clothes and the would not even look at 3/4 of them. We layed them in the bag because we know they pull out each one and look at condition and name brand. No we did not fold each one because all they do is unfold it and either take it or stuff it back from where they got it so we tried to make it easier. Not only is that exactly what they did but they even made rude comments about it not being folded. We took back all the clothes to donate them because that is a better thing to do then to give it to this entitled business. With small business struggling with everything going on you would think they would want to at the very least be polite to the ones who do come in. They will never get a penny of my business again and we have been buying and selling to then since my child was born so almost 10 years now.

Take to long for services. Also they dont clean their products so if you buy anything wash it. They disclosed with me nothing there is washed. Im surprised they havent gotten bugs.They also dont let you know when your things are finished sorting.The lady on the phone told me they would take anything you have we have no limits when I got there there was a two bag limit and only accepted big toys. I will never go there again. Plus they are trying to sell so the manager is never there. Horrible.

There are a rip-off they dont give you money for what your stuff is really worth. The computer calculates it. Thats what the cashier tells me wow

Great prices on clothes, shoes, baby equipment and toys! Sometimes I will find stuff with the price tag still on it. This is my favorite store to buy my kids outfits year round!

Not worth the bargain.EDIT: They have great options for childrens clothing. However, they are always rude to me when I come in there. Excellent place for gently used items. The store is fully stocked which makes it somewhat difficult sorting through the racks but when they have a good sale you can get items really really cheap. Lots of items to choose from. Big parking area and easy to get in and out of.

Reasonable clothes And not badly damaged. Also shoes and their clearance racks are great.

This is great for what it is. They have taken second hand items and made the shop like a boutique. You still have to rummage the clothes a bit to find an outfit, but its very well put together and organized. We always come here first when we need to get my daughter bigger sizes.

Great place to get cute kids clothes for cheaper than department stores. They also have toys, books, and baby items like cribs, strollers, and bouncing seats. They also set aside things for special occasions, like holidays and frequently have sales. Love love love this place. Did I mention that they also buy toys, books and clothes which can be used as store credit to buy new clothes, or they pay you cash! So great!

I love all the sales they have here and everything is reasonably priced! I pretty much never have to buy brand new clothes anymore because I can get name brand clothes in fantastic shape for usually less than $10. This whole outfit (hat, jacket, long sleeved tee, and pants) was only $11!

I visit this location a lot, but recently I attended an event with paw patrol and the fire truck. Its was so fun for the kids but I love to shop so I went in and bought a few things and the staff was AMAZING they were prepared for a big crowd and was working with SMILES.... Great Customer Service!

Clothing seems to always be well checked before being put out on the floor. Staff is always friendly and store is kept tidy. This is our favorite OUAC!

I can always find something for my kids here, I love the selection, and I love how they out everything in like colors so if Im looking for specifics to match my daughters clothes I can go right to the colors I need. I have found some on the racks that had stains and such on the back that luckily I noticed the last few times I was there so I didnt buy, or i would of been very disappointed after finding them. Some things could be sold for a fairly cheaper price considering that they are used. But overall Im usually very satisfied shopping for a boy and girl there, I spend alot on them at each trip that Id spend an even bigger fortune on elsewhere.

I came in on 6-28-2019 around 1:30pm with 3 trash bags of clothes and shoes which were gently used and worn maybe twice for one child.. they were very nice no stains or nothing some still had tags and I was told there was a 3 hour wait.. I’m from Martinsville Va so I drove 1 hour and 10 minutes to get there and after my 3 hours of wait was up I was given $16 and told the other clothes was stained or not what they wanted.. but yet was told I can take them next door to sell..well my child’s clothes were 11/12 and 14/16.. next door does juniors sizes.. I will never go there again.. very rude and no knowledge of good clothes..

I decided to visit this location because I happen to be in the area. I arrived at 9:50 waited in my car until 9:59 and preceded to walk in with two trash bags full of toys/clothes. Two other ladies were in front of me selling items as well. I was not greeted nor did I feel welcome, the other ladies were given a 30-45 time frame that a text would be sent once they were done. I purposely sell items and use the store credit to just buy my kiddos what’s needed next. So I decided to shop, I’m on my third baby so I knew I’d be a while. Well an hour rolls by I hadn’t heard anything, so around 11:15 I decided to ask what’s taking so long. Finally at 12:15 I go back up there and my items were DONE. NO text or anything I was livid. I’m 38 weeks pregnant and standing for 2.5 hours isn’t what I want to be doing. You guys offered me $18 for my items, had I not waited over 2 hours I would have walked. I will never visit this location again in the future. Terrible customer service

Didnt want to buy most of out baby stuff which was all like new. Said they smelt like ciggaretes but we dont smoke in the house. Other than that theyre great. Their prices were amazing.

Much better than the Lynchburg location! The store is pretty well organized and the staff is friendly. The toy section could have been a little better, found a few toys that were broken or kind of nasty looking, but may have been done in the store without their knowledge. Still will drive the hour to come back!

Came in for a 10 dollar bag sale. Got to register to be told that it ended at 5. Didnt arrive til 6 and was handed a bag and told all you can fit in the bag is 10$!!!! I will never go here again! Either teach your staff what the heck is going on or go by customer service rule of thumb and give them what they were told! Piss poor manager wouldnt even discuss this issue! Seems to be a rip off anyway, my step daughter was excited only to be told no after shopping for 2 hours!!

I love this newer location! Its closer to my home and come is very convenient for my family. Every time I go to this location I always buy something. Love the prices and deals!The bad part that Ive experienced with this location- December 2015 I went in to the store looking for a nice outfit for my son cause we getting ready to go to chuck e cheese. I purchased 1 pair of nice gap blue jeans and a real nice long sleeve wrangler button up shirt. Paid around 5 dollars for outfit and was very please until my 3 year old son pulled a 22 bullet out of his shirt pocket. I was more than mad, so I brought everything back into the store and showed and talked Manager she brushed me off like no big deal. Always double check there stuff for your childrens safety!!

Love Once Upon A Child, they could use with a little decluttering, and making aisles easier to walk through and the racks not so full. Also maybe doing a better job with how the shoes and toys are displayed, it would be nice. ** update** the place is cleaner and way decluttered. This is the Once Upon a Child we like to shop at best. From what my kids say the bathrooms were cleaner, which is good to hear. For all the improvements I will give the last star. Moving it to 5 stars.*

I brought in a large container of items on a Saturday. This is was first time bringing items, I shopped there sometimes for my son and daughter. The woman barely looks up at me when I come thru the door and tells me to fill out the form and leave it by the area where they check items. She says they are busy and probably wont get to it that day. I say okay. Im a single mom. I need the cash to buy my kids summer clothes they can fit in. Im willing to wait. 1 day goes by. Then 2, 3, 4,5,6, and 1 full week later I call and the manager tells me they dont know anything about my items. It was never put in the system and somehow all the items are gone to! I would have just gone to Goodwill if I wanted to donate! I needed that to get summer clothes for my growing kids and now Ill have to figure something else out. Thanks Once Upon A Child and YES IM CERTAIN IT WAS THE ELECTRIC RD LOCATION!!! Which on the phone she asked me 30x. Its you guys. Not them.

I love this place!! I can get so many things for my nieces and nephews here and they have very reasonable prices. Think this will be my new one stop shop :)

Do not waste your time selling any items to this place. I sold 5 items all of which retailed to over $170.00 and were in nearly perfect condition to them. Some of the items were never even used or only used once. They insulted me when they offered me $21.00 for all of it. When I was confused about the low amount, the cashier did not even bother to explain why I was being offered so little. Do yourself and others a favor by donating or selling your items to someone who would actually appreciate them. I understand the items were used and the company needs to make a profit, but that is just wrong .

My wife called ahead three different times in a week to make sure the store was making purchases on larger items. Each time she drove out to the store they turned her away. They didnt even look at the items! The clerk told her the first time at 11 am that they werent purchasing untill 1 pm on a Saturday. She tried again a few days later and was turned away because they were too busy to buy, and now a third time because 4 pm on a Saturday was too close to closing hours. Google says you close at 8pm. My wife asked if she could leave the items and come back another day to verify the sale, she was told no. Your purchasing hours have no rhyme or reason. Do you just let the high school clerks make the decision of whether or not theyre going to do business that day? We wont be buying or selling at this location any more.

I came in here to find a couple of church dresses for my daughter. When I went to the section for 18 month dresses, it was extremely difficult to find anything appropriate for because it was filled with over sized dress (size 5+). All the little girl dress seemed to be in the section between the entrance and the register which is fine except that all I could find were little red Christmas dresses (middle of November). Then we went to the toy section to see about getting my son something, but the toys were a disaster. I had to kick several out of the way to get the cart through. Half the toys had no price on them at all, and the rest seemed to be broken or missing pieces (in fact the ones that are in bags to keep all the pieces together are opened and scattered everywhere). Theres a sign that says that children are to be accompanied by an adult, but obviously that doesnt mean anything. Ive been to other once upon a child stores that are kept clean and organized by using labeled bins. Its funny how they sell toys in such terrible condition when they wont buy toys that are almost new. I will not return to this location.

Some of the toys seem overpriced to me based on the quality, but when they have sales on clothes, you can get a ton for a great price. With as fast as kids grow this is an affordable way to buy new sizes.

I have went here once after previously going to platos closet and there both the same...they seem very biased and want practically brand new clothing and other items. I had bought a brand new pair of shoes and brought them in a WEEK later they were name brand and would not take them because the were out of style and worn...they were NEW! Unless there brand new they wont take them...brought numerous things on different occasions and the same thing everytime..I keep my items clean and unstained but its little ridiculous
