Great place to get huge crabs. We cut those in half put on hook and husband caught 2 big black drums.

My family always gets bait from this shop. We absolutely love it. We get live shrimp here, and they seem to always last and not die quickly. Unlike other places we have gotten bait from before.

I decided to do some night fish off the pier near by with a group of friends and I googled bait shops and few places showed up close by the pier we were going too. We started at the bottom an worked our way up. We stumbled into pelican bait shop and right away we could see this is the best place to get your bait if your doing some night fishing on the pier or in general if your in the area. She has the best quality as for size and her prices were the best as well. Wide selection and she gave us a some free extra shrimp but we insisted we pay!! We got to talking to her because her funny attitude that we all fell in love with. This is the sweetest lady you (owner) you will probably meet in that area. She is very funny! She is fun to talk and I just have to say from a veteran fisherman. She was perfect! Thanks again Pelican Bait!! We will see you next time we come down!!

Fair price for fresh frozen shrimp $5 a pound

A very Nice Oriental lady runs the Pelican bait shop in Rockport, TX. On Tuesday, 11-20-2020 I picked out several medium to large mullet to be used as cut bait for Alligator gar. I had 3 lbs total of the fresh dead mullet. The going rate for fresh dead mullet is $5.00 per a pound. I only had $13.00 in my pocket. I usually use My debit card for my major purchases. I usually dont carry a lot of cash. My total amount due came to $15.00. This nice lady asked me to help her move 4, maybe 5 heavy coolers of live crabs & other bait. I didnt have any problems with this arrangement. This is referred to as bartering. Bartering is a common practice in many other countries. She got her moneys worth from me. I got the bait that I wanted from her. It was a win win for both of us. If you are going to come to Rockport, TX to fish on Saturdays I will advise you to stock up on your live bait on Friday afternoon or Friday evening. There are several bait shops in Rockport, TX. Every one of these bait shops sell out by 09:30AM. Their bait boats are only allowed to go out once, maybe twice a day under mariner law.

Watch the old lady she has scale set to 1/2 a pound before even weighing shrimp. Youll always b a 1/2 pound short. So weekend warriors be careful and count your croaker. The young lady was awesome first visit yesterday was 2nd visit and that was my experience.

Well to start off, she is pretty nice and honest. But the husband or the man running the place when she isnt there, likes to rip people off. Steal. From people actually. Ask for a quart of live shrimp and hell give you a half quart. On more than one occasion.
