Tim is the man. Very helpful, informative and has passion. The shop is nice and has a great variety in quality instruments for a local shop. You can take your instruments in for repairs and upgrades as well. I just bought a great vintage Gibson acoustic that I LOVE. Tim is a good guy. They offer lessons, service and repair and misc. hardware like bridges, tuners, screws, output jacks, pots, etc.. I build guitars and when I first started Tim helped me when I ran into issues. They also have really good prices on some brands of strings.

Just picked up my guitar that was in for a setup. It looks and plays amazing now! You can tell it was really cleaned up. I was recommended to this place by a friend. Tim was great and finished way quicker than quoted. Its obvious they know what theyre doing and care.

I had a golf ball sized dent in the side wall of an acoustic guitar that they were able to patch up nicely. The guy was up front about the cost and told me the repair would leave a noticeable scar, but he reassured me that hed make it rock solid. As for the end product, I can still tell where I had my Fender-bender, but it sounds just as good as it did before and feels sturdy.On top of that, the tech noticed that the bridge was damaged and installed a better fitting part for no charge. 5/5

Tim @ Music Castle does the best setups/repairs/installations in Detroit hands down. Great turnaround and very reasonably priced. I’ve been to every shop in the metro area (literally) and Music Castle is the ONLY place I trust with my guitar(s). Tim is the real deal and a gentleman!

Nice guy, cool stuff, old school feel. I was just there for a string for my sons guitar but there were really rare and different instruments to look at, rent and buy and there was a great selection of guitars and even some drums that fit into such a small place. It looks like they give lessons too and given the obvious love for music and the politeness of the owner, it would probably be a great place to get lessons.

Ive been doing business with the Music Castle since 1986 and they have never steered me wrong. Ive been to almost everymajor music store around here and I keep coming back to Music Castle. Theyve earned my trust. The place may be small butits very well supplied. They dont stock junk or overpriced nonsense. They do stock good quality stuff at good pricesthat match those of the big chain stores. Repairs are done right, done quick, and at great prices. They wont sell youanything you dont need. The rental department is very well stocked, rates are cheap and deposit required is crazy low.Whatever your music need is, they can cover it. Tim has decades of experience and really knows his stuff. This place isthe best kept secret around here.

SO much more efficient and friendly than guitar center. You would think that you would be paying a bit more at a local store, but nope, prices are the same.Tim is knowledgeable and quick, as he knows every nook and cranny of his store. He has been in the music business for a long time, so he only keeps things in stock that are known in the business to be excellent, making the whole store efficient. You get long time music industry experience at guitar center prices when buying from Music Castle.

Im baffled by the the negative reviews on here. Ive been a regular customer of Music Castle for nearly 10 years and have NEVER had anything NEAR the negative experiences that some of these individuals report. Ive always found the staff to be friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable regarding a wide variety of musical issues. Additionally, Ive found their prices to be very competitive in both guitar repairs/setups and gear in general. Their turn around times on both repairs, setups, etc are the quickest IVE experienced. Ive recommended them to friends and other musicians and wont hesitate to continue to do so.

Great G&L distributor! Has an excellent selection of fx pedals and instruments at reasonable prices.Also does an awesome setup! I took my G&L there for work because he deals in those particular guitars, but I will definitely be having him do a setup on my Strat soon.

This place is great. Tim, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and down to earth. Ive had many repairs and setups here and they are very prompt and detailed in their work. I wont stop going anytime soon. No more guitar center for me.

I am a longtime customer at Music Castle and I have always been very satisfied with purchases and repairs. I recommend the shop regularly. I also prefer to buy from a local dealer, as opposed to a chain. Tim has been in business a long time, despite the ups and downs of the economy, and theres a reason for that -- good, honest service at a fair price from knowledgeable staff.

I really only go here for strings, cables and setups but the man who is usually there and does the set up work has always been very helpful. My guitar plays EXCELLENT when I take it home from there, great action, anything loose tightened and everything very clean. I was just looking up the hours and saw bad reviews and I had the absolute opposite experience.Independent music shops will always be better than Guitar Centers and if these other people cant see it thats too bad for them.

The Music Castle is the best place to purchase musical equipment in my opinion. You can find really good guitars and amps at great prices. Tim Flaharty also does an exceptional job of setting up my guitars. Theyre as smooth as butter when he is finished with them.

Great experience. Brought in a strat for a setup (24 hour turnaround!), then showed them my Dangelico which was having issues with fuzz while turning the volume knob. Was totally ready to accept something monetary was needed. Instead, he popped off and oiled the knobs free of charge. Great shop!

Tim and all the guys at Music Castle do GREAT work. They handle the regular set-ups on all of my guitars (electric, acoustic, bass, baritone.....ALL of them). I am always more than pleased with the end result. They dont charge and arm and a leg and offer excellent turnaround times. I recently had Tim rewire my SG to some very picky specs and he took the time to research exactly what I wanted (plus some suggestions of his own) and got the job done (in less than 24 hours no less.) I recommend this store to any one who cant abide by the impersonal, noise ridden environment of Guitar Center.2 Thumbs Up!
