Very Friendly, helpful. Great prices and great place to buy local. I believe I was helped by a man named Dave and also another older man. (I was super excited to buy my husband his long awaited banjo that I forgot to ask his name) The older gentleman who was my main customer rep. was kind and patient with getting me all the equipment needed for beginner. I would and will recommend anyone looking musical instruments or equipment to this small local business.
Both Dave’s were really super knowledgeable and helpful. They set me up with a really good beginners guitar. Dave plugged it into the amplifier and showed me that there was no buzzing or anything and it was all nice and set up. They weren’t pushy for add-ons. They were also able to answer all my questions. I walked out with a really nice beginners guitar, but they sell more than just guitars there.
Nice people. over the years ive purchased new and used guitars, amps, even a mandolin (and traded a few things as well) plus they do repairs/maintenance. were fortunate to have a great local store like this one.
Great experience dealing with you. banjo was exactly as described and communications excellent. hope to deal with you again recommend to all who want to get what they pay for thank you, john
This being my first time buying a ukulele I wanted hands on purchasing choices and the great customer service I knew this shop to have. Approximately 15 years ago I bought several instruments here with great satisfaction. This trip to the ABC Music Shop was great. I had already researched what I wanted, they had it, I bought it and now Im happily learning a new instrument. Plus they will service my instrument in the years to come.
Great little store. I knew what I wanted so it was a pretty quick stop. Excellent customer service. Definitely will return.
Got my first electric guitar and amp here, and the employees were very helpful in helping me figure out everything I needed. They definitely don’t have as big of a selection as a place like guitar center, but that didn’t stop me from getting a great first guitar.
I have had the experience of dealing with many music stores over the years and I can honestly say none have risen to the level of ABC Music. Staff at ABC is always friendly and always helpful and always willing to work through any problems that may arise following a purchase. I highly recommend this store.
Very good service! they delivered my guitar to my address in Salem very happy with my experience.
I had such a fun conversation with the salesman. He let me sample a 12 string breed love and was very engaging to talk with.
This place is fantastic! Great prices, friendly employee(s) and very helpful. I bought a mahogany acoustic guitar from there, and the service I received was superior than any other music store I have been to. 10/10!!!
Thanks Dan for getting me my new Kala bass... Journeyman... love it...
Excellent customer service, knowledge and they know how to setup stringed instruments! That is a lost art these days. Their selection was a bit depleted but what shop isnt during covid? Plus they were open for business during this difficult time. I would support this local shop.
These guys know their stuff and are really helpful. It is wonderful to have a store like this around. Please patronize this establishment so we can keep them around.
Greatest little music store in the west!
For twenty years I have tried to develop a relationship with ABC Music because I like to support local/small business. Two days ago I went in for a little advice and parts for a guitar/project. Nate helped me that day and he was awesome, very helpful, almost as interested in my project as I was. I left inspired. My experience in the store today reminded me of my struggles with ABC. The common denominator in each of my bad experiences there, since as long as I can remember, has always been the store’s owner. As I left the store today I thought, if you’re not interested in knowing your customers, being personable and genuinely helpful, rather than condescending, negative and generally suspicious, just don’t be out front. The guys you have working for you are doing a great job… let them do it. For twenty years, I have tried to use your services. I have recommended your store too many times to count. I’m sure it won’t bother you to hear that I won’t be back. In addition, unless you can do something to change my mind, I will no longer be sending people I care about to your store.
Super friendly staff and very helpful in troubleshooting a broadcast mic I was having issues with (that I got from elsewhere). These guys really know their stuff and were more than willing to help. I really appreciated it!!
Good variety of cables, adaptors and guitars. Helpful staff.
Nice little locally owned music store. All the people are friendly. Not a ton of high end guitars but they do have a decent selection available. Definitely worth going by.
Great customer service. Personable and very experienced staff, all multi-instrumentalists. I have purchased many guitars from ABC. New guitars are not just taken out of the box and placed on the rack at this store, but they are all meticulously set up very nicely and have great playability. Most recently, I brought in an old guitar that Ive had for years and it had developed a buzz. Dan helped me, and went over every inch of the guitar until we isolated the problem. After that, a quick fix and I was out the door. If youve forgotten what great customer service is from someone who knows what theyre talking about and cares about making the customer happy, then visit ABC Music. A breath of fresh air in the age of box stores.
Very helpful and knowledgeable. I went in to buy some strings and was interested in learning to change them myself. One of the salespeople was changing someone elses guitar strings and let me watch and gave me some great pointers. The sakes staff are enthusiastic about discussing any topic or addressing any question. I appreciated their suggestion to have my guitars neck adjusted after switching from medium to light strings. It played much better and the the cost was reasonable. I also like that the person who works on instruments is accessible to customers. He is in their shop twice a week and does his work out front so you can easily talk to him or consult about an instrument youve brought in.
The best. Very helpful, great prices and product knowledge
Wonderful people and great guitars . All around amazing store
The Biggest Little Music Store in Salem! Ill never be able to figure out how they keep fitting more and more into the same size store, yet they do. The store easily has 4x the number of guitars than I saw there the last time I was there, yet it is so much more handicapped accessible. I hadnt been in for a number of years, and now I feel like Ive missed out by not shopping there. Their tech support is awesome too. They helped me figure out the best way for me to convert my favorite acoustic into an acoustic/electric. They also had a sweet “jumbo body” guitar I have my eye on. Who knows, Christmas IS only 7 weeks away!
Great little shop! All kinds of different instruments with a great staff.Came in clutch on an obscure instrument and am forever grateful.
Our experience with ABC Music continues to be fantastic. Ownership and staff have always been very positive and helpful. We look forward to our ABC Music visits and appreciate their outstanding customer service, sage advice and quality products and services. Thank you!
Decent music store and guitar shop but some of the employees are kinda rude and condicending, especially the guy with the white hair and glasses. I bought a package of guitar strings from them and three of the strings broke, so I went in to get a refund. Even though I had my receipt they still gave me grief about it saying we cant do this every timeYes you should, if the product you sell fails then its on you to offer a refund.Despite this bad experience I still like the store and would recommend it, they know their stuff and will point you in the right direction, but their customer service could be better.
By far The Best customer service I have EVER experienced at ANY type of budiness.
These gentlemen have been my one stop shop for and Harmonica and Banjo needs! I respect them greatly and I know they have my back for any other musical variation. Theyre the only place I go to anymore. c:
I have just returned from my third, and last visit to ABC Music. The first time I visited the store, I was looking for a simple and relatively inexpensive keyboard stand. I was approached almost immediately when I walked in, and I explained what I wanted to the employee. He proceeded to show me the only keyboard stand they had in stock which was VERY expensive and was not what I asked for. I told the employee it wasnt what I wanted, and without offering to order what I was looking for, he told me to Try Target and left to help another customer. I was willing to pay a bit more for what I wanted if it meant avoiding giant chains like Guitar Center, which is why I went in the store to begin with. I was aware that they might not have what I was looking for, and was expecting to order it. But when the employee dismissed me immediately, I left angry. On another occasion. I was with a friend who was shopping for something very specific, and the same employee was trying to get him to buy all kinds of things he didnt need. The employee was so pushy and obviously trying to make as much money off us as possible, it was irritating. The final straw was today when I returned to pick up a vintage instrument I dropped off almost two weeks ago for the technician to look at, and possibly buy. The technician was not in the store when I dropped off the instrument, and the employee working requested I leave my name and phone number so the technician could call me when he came in next (which was supposed to be one or two days later). After hearing nothing, I dropped by to check in with the technician. I was informed by the person working that he would be away until next week. The employee said he knew about the instrument, but didnt know what the technician had decided. He told me I could leave it there for a bit longer until the technician came back, or I could take it home and try back another time. I told the employee I was in no rush, and I could leave it there. As soon as I said this the employee responded by saying that the technician was probably not interested in buying the instrument, and I should take it home. What? First he said he didnt know if the technician had looked at it, then he assumes he doesnt want it. If that latter is actually the case, why was I not contacted? Was it going to sit there indefinitely?Honestly, I only encountered one employee that was helpful and friendly. Its too bad he has to work with all of those idiots. So much for supporting my local music dealer.
Do you guys do donation for clubs or anything like that because im in a islander club and we been lookomg for instruments like simple drums and ukuleles for kids in the club to use because im teaching ukulele classes at north salem highschool
I tried giving these guys my business, I really did, but these guys are clueless and jerks. I gave them my number and told them to contact me as soon as they heard about a guitar I was interested in buying. Two weeks later, I go back in to check out cymbals. The manager recognized me and told me he had found the guitar I was after a couple of days ago. Why he never called, who knows? They boast a family owned business, who is there to give you the customer service you cant get at the big stores, but I found just as much greed and pushiness in that store as any other. Dont waste your time or money with these guys.
Great guys, great location, and great local business. Most impressive to me was their guitar tech Dave. I brought my Ibanez JSM100 semi-hollow in after having purchased it brand new from Sweetwater. The guitar was nearly impossible to play barre chords on (especially on the first fret... think F Major). From what I could tell visually, the nut needed filing, and it needed to be setup in general. I dropped it off at ABC Music and a week late Dave called me telling me it was ready to pickup.I pick it up, took it home, and was blown away but how much the guitar had transformed. My favorite guitar was now almost effortless to play barre chords with. It just goes to show the importance of a good and proper setup, by someone who knows what theyre doing.Dave is a very knowledgable guy with great experience. Id trust him with any guitar!
Favorite guitar shop!!
Great shop
