Cant say anything bad about this place. Reliable, good tamales (!!!) fresh and pleasant, helpful staff.If there is one thing I would love the company to do, if possible, is date the newspaper articles they have posted on the wall near the retail area. I love local history and there is a lot with this company.

Dont understand the hype. I got there at 6:30 and there was already a line. I was told by them on Facebook they sold tamales by half dozen. Thats not true. Chicken tamales were dry with not much chicken. Pork tameles were greasy with not much pork. The Menudo was expensive for a little cup. It wasnt good at all. This place is a cult

Bought Refried Beans and Tamales. I ask for beans and jalapeno and they gave me Pork Tamales. The food is good, but it was only one person in the register and assisting the customers with their orders.

Big Red & Barbacoa, a San Antonio favorite as long as I can remember. And no one serves it better than Adelitas. Fast service and the all meat is delicious. Pound of all meat, dozen tortillas and spicy salsa, All for under $18. Makes waiting for the weekend worth it. Gotta be good, they have been in business forever. Noticed the flour tortillas are even better than HEB brand. The festive chips, hard taco shells and chalupas are awesome. Helps making quick dinners during the week super easy and tastes homemade.

Saturday was my first time trying the barbacoa here... Bought 1 lbs of each (all meat & mixed) & carnitas. Took flour and corn tortillas and their different salsas... Not disappointed at all!!! Will definately be back!!!

Delicious food, barbacoa and real corn tortillas so good. Their cooked red salsa is sooo good and fresh. This is more like a traditional tortilleria. The ladies are polite and have great customer service. Will definitely stop by again if Im in the area.

Ive been going to Adelitas for years. This pass weekend stopped in for Barbacoa and Carnitas. The Carnitas tasted like leftovers and where hard and dry.

Very disappointed with the barbacoa. It was very greasy and half had to be thrown out. There were long tough strands of meat that would not pull apart. I gave it 3 stars because the chips, corn tortillas, and salsa were delicious.

Went in to buy only some tamales and came out with a bag of chicharrones and a bag of bunelos which were delicious. And the tamales I love it when they just slide off the wrap, they were so delicious as always...👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Bought the dozen pork tamales... The masa to pork ratio is good... You never get a mouthful of just Masa... Good flavor, there are definitely my second choice... And believe me that says allot... Try them...

Adelitas tamales are so delicious! They almost taste just like my abuelitas tamales and Christmas isnt Christmas without abuelitas tamales! Yes they are lines, but what do you expect from a place with good tasting tamales. Parking is tight, but you can park across in the lot next to it. Its worth the little hassle.

I drove such a long way for some delicious tamales. But I was so disappointed. I order 1 dz of chicken and one of bean. They were very dry, what appeared to be overly cook. The chicken tamales, oh wait what chicken... I will keep searching for great tamales until I find them. I cant even compare to Delias tamales in RGV...

Tamales were ok. The taste was good. They were greasy like they should be. Only issue was they were very thin. Shouldve had more meat packed into them. If youre gonna charge $9.50 a dozen, they better be more than just masa. I bought pork. I heard a customer before complaining that her chicken tamales were mostly masa too so I guess its an issue with this place.

Barbacoa was AWESOME! The Chicken Tamales had too much masa. The Bean/Jalapeño ones...well, thats what I ordered but was given beef/jalapeño; they were okay.

Amazing food especially the tamales. The taste the texture reminds me of back home. They have other kind of food like barbacoa tacos carnitas. Everything smells and taste good.

Tamales werent as good as was told. They were done in a rush, they fell apart. No taste and pork meat looked grounded instead of shredded.

I was very disappointed with this place. I was driving through San Antonio from Houston and wanted some great tamales. I searched the internet and risked going here which was very disappointing. I ordered 4 doz. tamales, two pork and two chicken. Both meats were grinded to mush and no flavor. The tamales were masa thick with little mush inside. I should have bought 1 dz. to taste. What a disappointment and waste of money.

We used to come here often when we lived in the area. I moved about 15yrs ago. So I havent been here for awhile. Its better than I remember. I walked out with barbacoa, tripas, popcorn cut chicharron and pork n jalapeno tamales. All of it was great. All meat bbq was all flavor. Even the masa seemed better. It used to be lighter in color now its chili hued. Found out that pork n jalapeno make a great filing for tamales. They made us happy today.

Great barbacoa that I have found. Delicious tripas just need to cook them a bit more to be crispy. Lengua delicious but needs to cook a bit longer to be more tender. Tortillas are very thick and dry.

Prices went up and I understand, but tamales did not taste fresh they tasted like dry and day old.

I gave this place a try three different times and have to say their tamales are subpar. The masa has never been mixed well and turns rock hard once you reheat. My suspicion is that they are made with an improper ratio of lard. Not my kind of tamales. Long lines are not worthy f the product. Must be an acquired taste for many here in SA.

Tamales were flat, dry and unappealing. Bunuelos were stale, as flour tortillas were crispy and tasted like saltine crackers. Not the same place mother used to love.

Look at the pictures and news clippings on the walls! It tells a true American story. Generations later still producing a South Texas staple. Tamales, tortillas and barbacoa. Carnitas and chicharrones. The tomatillo Chile is fantastic. They even prepare masa for our family traditions of making our own tamales during the holidays. Family pedigreed with all the pride of puro San Anto. Pork Jalapeno are my favorite but I could eat enough of their chicharrones to make me sick and still be happy. Support your own! These Texicans keep it real.

I once was in charge of taking tamales to work for our Christmas party for the whole factory including management I bought around 25 to 30 dozen because I used to say how good the tamales were from Adelitas but boy was I embarrassed when lunch time came around the tamales were so bad that they didnt get eaten and they tried giving them away at the end of the shift and nobody would take them they were so dried they just cracked in half 🤮

Line was a little bit long which was to be expected, but it moved really fast. I got a dozen of tamales for 8.75 which is unheard of these days. They have to be the best tamales I have ever had ever! Definitely worth the wait in line. If you are traveling in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and please visit. Parking lot is small so beware lol

Authentic. The owner is noble and very respectful. The food is amazing. If you dont believe me, just order 1 bean and cheese taco to try the goodness. You wont regret it! 💟👍

I don’t like the way the Mass looks 😡 it has a lot of crab that looks like bugs . The machines must not be cleaned very well !! I went by the recommendation on Google search,. it’s not Ground well at all. It is the WORST MASA I have ever bought. I will show my samples to a health inspector. We are from out of town, I hope we don’t get sick with this whatever it is :(
