I normally get honey lavender latte but decided to get ube latte. She asked if I wanted to add espresso shot, I replied, no. She asked if whole milk was okay, I said, yes. She asked iced or hot and I asked for recommendation. She said iced. So I got iced.My order was ready in about two minutes. I saw her pour the milk then stir. When I took my first sip, I was disappointed. Basically ube milk. Not even ube milk “tea” or even coffee just straight up ube and milk. It was very rich and thick from the whole milk. I took two sips and stopped. If you get the ube latte, make sure you get the coffee version.I was really looking forward to trying Mostra. The decor indoor is super cute with fake garden vines that gives it an indoor/outdoor feel. There were four two seater tables outside. We sat outside and every time the door opened, you could smell the coffee aroma. Smelled so good!I did wish I tried something else that was coffee related to really try what Mostra coffee is all about. So based on ube latte experience, I’ll have to give it a 2 and update if I ever come back.

Finally, I discovered the finest coffee place today. Their music is generally a throwback, which makes me want to stay longer and is really peaceful. There are tables for lovers and even groups of friends. The coffee and meals here are quite inexpensive, and the money is well spent. You cant go wrong with this coffee shop. This one is certainly worth a look.

We ordered the yeti white mocha and a cold brew for take-out recently in store around noon on the weekend. It took a while for my drink (yeti white mocha) to come out and we were surprised by the long wait since there was only one couple ahead of us. My drink tasted like warm milk, big bummer. It was cool that they shaved macadamia nuts as the garnish but what happened to the two espresso shots in the coffee?4 stars because their campfire latte is always amazing when I came here during pre-COVID times and this couldve been an off day for them. They transformed the interior to a cute holiday shopping area (see photo) which was a creative use of the seating area. Heads up their drinks are on the pricier side for the speciality drinks.

Also the majority of people who work here are friendly and attentive, however Ive had multiple experiences of just standing waiting to pick up with no one greeting me for a couple minutes. 2020 Coffee Roaster of the Year. Oh you need more, they are a family owned company that makes some of the most interesting coffee I’ve ever had. The flavors that they get from these coffees changed what I thought was possible. While other coffee producers put a bunch of different flavors in their descriptions, Mostra coffee is the first time I tasted those flavors. And their cold brew is still the best I’ve had.

I was drawn to this coffee shop based on the reviews, but unfortunately I was left terribly disappointed.I drove from Poway to try their mint mojito monthly special. I ordered it online for pickup in-store. Here are all of the reasons why my experience was quite possibly one of the worst Ive had at a coffee shop:1. The line was very long, nearly to the entrance, and I noticed the assistant manager was taking inventory of merchandise at that time, when clearly all hands were needed to combat the Sunday morning crowd.2. I asked a barista at the bar if my mobile order earned points in the loyalty program. He told me the systems are not tied but that points could be added, however Id have to stand in the long line to do that.3. I stood in the line while I waited for my drink and when I got to the register, the assistant manager took over the middle of the transaction when the other girl was looking up my account to add the loyalty credit. The manager then tried to charge me for the drink again.4. I waited for my drink some more and then was told they were out of half and half and could not make my drink. What kind of coffee shop runs out of half and half before the day is even halfway over?!5. Very disappointed, I told the assistant manager that I wanted a refund. She said ok and walked away. I stood around for a few minutes and finally got her attention to ask if she was going to acknowledge my existence again. She said she had issued the refund. So why let me continue to stand around and not follow up? Also, she gave me no documentation whatsoever and I am still waiting for a refund to post to my card.6. I told her that this was a terrible experience all around and she acted as if she couldnt be bothered and there was no reason for my annoyance and disappointment. Her demeanor was not appropriate for one who interacts with customers, let alone one in a position of leadership. What I find most disappointing is that I reached out directly to the business in order to share this experience for improvement. To date, the email has been opened 4 times but no one has addressed it. I dont anticipate I will receive a response unless I need to reach out again should the refund not be credited within the next week. Working in client services myself, I have had to address when my team did not live up to expectations and senior management certainly would not find it to be acceptable for me to leave a customer hanging.I really wanted to like this place as I am always on the hunt for local coffee shops with creative drinks, but I dont see myself going back since it is out of the way for me and I do not feel valued or respected.

EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE ! A little birdie whispered in our ear recently about a San Diego coffee roaster doing great things. I had to look them up and I was very impressed....amazing reviews and winning 2020 ( Micro ) Roaster of the Year. Of course great reviews and prestigious awards are very cool but you cant beat the personal experience. So on Friday my wife and I headed over to this Carmel Mountain location ( 18 miles from home ) rather than the newer Black Mountain shop ( only 11 miles ) to try their coffee and something to eat. We parked our wheels in the huge overcrowded carpark in front of the nearby Home Depot and arrived at the shop entrance around 1.15pm. There is a huge burger joint next door to Mostra Coffee and a Sees Candies on the other side. I checked out the burger joint quickly just in case we needed food after our coffees. Upon entering we were struck by the open feel even though it is not a huge space inside. A few quaint recessed wall booths for 2 people along the wall and a large community table just inside the entrance provided the seating...plus a couple of small tables outside. The first thing I noticed or should I say didnt notice was a humongous shiny Italian espresso machine planted on the counter...Ill get to that later. A very helpful cashier named Olivia served us when we stood in front of the service counter looking up at the drinks menu on the wall. We asked about food but sadly they were out of their supply of ham & cheese croissants ( no kitchen for food prep here ) so lunch here was out. My wife wanted a small 8 oz Latte with 2% milk and hazelnut syrup while I chose the same in a 12 oz size. They were still serving all coffees in paper cups but after a short discussion with Olivia I was able to wrangle porcelain cups for us ( Olivia did say they were very close to serving in proper cups again ). And we greatly appreciated that act of kindness as coffee loses much of its flavor in a paper cup. The coffee shop has a happy groovy vibe and is lovely & cool inside. While waiting for our lattes I checked out the 12 oz bags of whole roasted coffee beans lining the wall behind us. We were definitely taking home a bag of coffee beans. My wife and I joined the throng sitting comfortably at the ( dining table height ) community table while a barista named John crafted our lattes. I walked back over and asked Olivia about a blend I had earmarked to buy earlier online but it was a seasonal variety which was sold out. After I mentioned our taste leaned towards rich dark roasts Olivia suggested the Brazil blend which I grabbed off the wall display....$17.50 for a 12 oz bag fresh roasted just 4 days prior. At that point I asked John the barista what type of espresso machine they used....a 3 Group Mavam espresso machine from Seattle came his reply. And the bulk of the machine was under the counter save for the 3 brew heads playing peekaboo. I looked up a 3 Group Mavam online and not much change from $30,000. VERY IMPRESSIVE ! Our lattes were made to perfection and tasted up there with the best....the porcelain cups surely helped. Mostra Coffee is a bonafide artisan coffee roaster excelling at providing an incredible coffee enjoyment experience helped by kind attentive staff. YOU GOT US !

One of the best coffee shops youll find in town. Prices are around those youd expect from a chain but the quality and pairing of the drinks are far more superb. None of their coffee is too bitter nor too sweet and their combinations are well balanced for a coffee lover or someone who is used to more creamer in their cup.Either way, its worth coming into Monstra before queuing up at your local chain coffee shop.

At 11:59am I walk in and my order had been sitting there, waiting. No apology or explanation as to why it was late or not brought out to me.
