Love this place. Have been coming here since I was a kid & this is somewhere I always bring friends or family from out of town. It’s decorated super fun and like 60’s style. The servers do a little dance and are all in character. The food is good. Music is fun & you can even request songs. Milkshakes are super good too. Would recommend to everyone!
Fun atmospheare! The walls are decorated floor to ceiling with pictures and items from the 50s. It is fun to play eye spy with kids while you wait for your food. This is a great place to take kids or to celebrate a birthday. The staff seemed to really enjoy working here too. The food was great. We all enjoyed our meal. I also liked the selection of food on the menu. My children tried the Egg Creams and really liked them a lot. We will be back for the experience and for the food.
Great atmosphere but the food was lacking. This is a must see food destination in San Diego I highly suggest it!The Philly cheesesteak was a complete letdown I couldn’t force myself to finish it. Also, you only get three onion rings? They actually are hard to eat because they’re so big they need to be smaller. The ice cream desserts are always good, and the shrimp platter was surprisingly delicious.
My brother took me here while I visiting him from Idaho.We went to the zoo, Balboa Park, Mission Beach, so many things… but this diner was probably my most favorite place of my entire trip! It was SOOO good! Staff, price, ambience, and of course the FOOD were all easily 5 stars. A rare gem this one
Visiting San Diego? This is an absolute MUST. That atmosphere was amazing, love that the staff wear 50 styles, the dj playing oldies but goodies, the food is delicious and they added an arcade that has pinball machines. The experience does bring you back to the old days. They even have an OLD PHONE booth!! Was funny watching my kid trying to figure out a rotary phone. Lol!
This was my own personal hell. I could not have possibly come up with a worse nightmare. I thought this was just going to be a nostalgic looking 50s-style diner, boy was I wrong. This was more like Chuck-E-Cheese on steroids with a 50s look. It was so loud we could barely have a conversation amongst ourselves and there are so many children that they were just running around rampant. The food was good but not amazing, and the service was a bit slow because they were somewhat busy. If you think Chuck-E-Cheese is fun then you would probably love this place.
Beautiful restaurant! Theme was on point and DJ only played classics. Now on to the food.... burgers were ok, a bit on the bland and dry side. But the skin on fries more than made up for the so so burger. Milkshakes were on point, my soda float was delish! Service was great, birthday celebrations were cute and the dancers which came out for a quick 3 minute entertainment were super cute. Did I forget to mention this place had an arcade and you can add $10 or $20 play cards to your meal? Cute spot to bring the family for a quick night out, but beware, the line can get lengthy on weekends

What a fun experience! We went here for my sons birthday. The food was absolutely delicious! The entertainment was awesome! They danced and sang and really put their heart into it! My son loved when they sang happy birthday to him, really loud and all eyes on him! It was great! Dont forget to get the cotton candy! Brings you right back to when you were a child!
Family friendly. Have been going to the diner for over 25 years when it was located in its old location. New management and new staff our server was hands down the best ever. Bonnie was the best she was that good. We are from idaho and have never been disappointed when we come for a visit. Bonnie needs a raise, when you go ask for her section.
Thought this place looked like a great option for a fun family dinner while on vacation. Would I return? No. Atmosphere was fun walking in, but LOUD!!!! We were put in the darker 60s room and while singing and dancing were happening we couldnt see anything. I ordered a mocha almond shake in the kids size. The coffee flavor was so strong I only could down half of it and it really just was just terrible. Food was okay, but overpriced. $10 kids meals were very overpriced (basic grilled cheese and some fries.) Lastly, was the surprise 4% surcharge added to the check for increased costs. Please just raise your prices and be transparent in what you are charging. Overall: Im full, full of regret.Not groovy. Not swell. Not coming back.
This place is busy for a reason so expect to wait but its worth it. The food was spot on and all the staff was amazing. It didnt matter if you were in their section they spoke to everybody. Games for the kids, juke box hit after hit, birthday songs everywhere, and then the servers even did a little number. We had a blast highly recommend. Shout out to my guy Bobby who took care of us. Environment was cool, the decorations were good and atmosphere good and really nice staff but thats about it. The food was not great, burgers overcooked and very expensive. A burger from Carls Jr would have tasted about as good. The music was way too loud and you just about had to yell at the person next to you. You go here more for the experience of the wait staff dancing every 10 minutes than anything else.
This place was recommended to me and it was probably one of the best recommendations I have ever got! Our server/ entertainer was Ms. Peggy (by far the best server and entertainer there) she was fun, energetic, gave a great recommendation for burgers, knew the menu and beverages well. Entertained the kids and really played her role well.The food is your typical American Diner food from the 50s-60s. Burgers, fries, onion rings, salads, and shakes. All good! Ms. Peggy recommended I try the Rory burger (peanut butter, bacon, meat patty, and shredded lettuce) the peanut butter threw me off at first but let me tell you... It made for a delicious burger!The back half of the restaurant is a full blown arcade. Great selection of games for all ages.I would highly recommend this place to anyone, especially those families with children.

From my 7 year old, this is her review:I felt excited when I first walked in. It was great that they have games to play while we wait so long, 60-90 minutes. I ordered a corn dog and fries and apple juice. I wanted to bring the shake with me but I couldnt because it was glass. For other kids: It has games and good food. They have balloon art. And cotton candy cake I want for my birthday!My daughter loved the experience and my husband had planned a family day to bring us here. He loved the friendly staff and food. We appreciate the experience and well be coming back!
Fun environment the food is good too! The arcade was reasonably priced $20 bucks went a decent way. The kids love coming here. The balloon guy that comes to the table is amazing his balloon creations go above and beyond!
Even with a birthday reservation. We had to wait almost 4hrs after the whole party had arrived. They kept telling us different things to keep us from leaving. Saying table was ready. Just needed to he cleaned. Then it changed. Finally had to talk with manager to get it going. Once we were in. It was decent. Need better attention to the guests. Had to yell a bunch to get waiters attention.
Like the environment. Its very colorful, and the kids love the arcade.The food was not special at all. I had a cheese steak and it had no flavor whatsoever. My Husband had the chicken blue cheese something something and that was good.Dont see us going back anytime soon.
My wife and I took our two granddaughters to celebrate one of their birthdays. We really enjoyed the 50s diner vibe. Food was delicious the service was good. After lunch we went to the arcade and had a blast. Highly recommend!

The wait was pretty bad, about hour and half on a Sunday afternoon. Luckily theres an arcade to kill some time. Milkshakes were the best here! Food is good, but not for how much it is. All the employees are super friendly and carry a positive attitude. Something you dont see to often these days, so kudos to them.
We decided to check out this diner when we went to Liberty Station, and it was a great choice! We wanted to just have pupus, so we have the garbage heap of appetizers. So good. The food tasted delicious and the service was wonderful. I got a little Ed Debevicks feel afterwards which is fantastic! In all...a great place to eat and enjoy food.

One of my favorite places to eat. Super fun with kids or for special nights. Food is very good and they have an old fashion soda fountain! Its very loud here so not the place for a quite night out but definately alot if fun. Good prices and Sherry, our waitress was awesome!
You really are paying for the environment... Food has steadily declined over the years. Milkshakes are still amazing but they are smaller than they used to be
What a fun place!When we went there was a long wait about 60 minutes or so, fortunately the place around this restaurant is very fun to walk around and plenty to do. Staff was friendly and seated us promptly, our food came out in a very timely fashion given how busy they were. My only thing is that the restaurant can be a bit loud so if you are sensitive to those types of things this may not be the place for you. Food was delicious its classic diner food.
Great service. RED was especially on top of her section and the whole staff made us feel welcome with out two kids. If I lived here Id be in once a week without fail. Thank you guys!

So……. disappointing. I wouldn’t of even given one star if it weren’t for our fun waitress. Nothing like the original one in Hillcrest. For you die-hard patrons of the old Corvettes prepare to be let down. It is now “child” friendly; arcade games and such. I mean “screaming” children everywhere. The atmosphere doesn’t even come close to the original. My mom said itbest when she said it’s “Chucky Cheese on steroids”.!!!!!!! The food is not as good; the music is not the 50’s; the waitresses are “blah”.We had the best waitress. She had the perfect attitude that truly exemplifies the original diner.I really miss the dancing waitresses. No more straw throwing. I really miss when the bill would come the waitress would throw bazooka bubble gum at us. The wait is long and the children and their parents were not wearing masks in the waiting area outside. A sign should say-“ no shirt, no service, no shoes, no service, no kids, no service!!!!!!

Super thick, large serving and delicious.Tasty gourmet burgers cooked to customer specifications. Generous portions and fast service. Servers excellent, friendly and accommodating.Kids menu available. Family friendly. Note that streets in the area are one-way and crowded on weekends.
Its always a great time! I was, however, surprised by the 4% surcharge on top of the food price due to minimum wage going up and I forgot what else it said. Not sure if that was there before but it caught my eye even in the small print on the menu. Servers are always enthusiastic and friendly. Sad that they dont do the straws in hair thing anymore due to Covid. Still have the dancing, you just cant join in anymore. One of my sons favorite parts 😔. I also did not like that they forcefully added a 18% gratuity. My server was very worth it and I even left her more, but what if the service was not so great? Although Ive never had a bad experience there, it should still be an option. I remember when this was a splurge for my family when money was tight and then to have 22% added to it, it may not feel so good on peoples wallets.
This place is special. The ambiance is amazing. You feel like youve stepped back in time. We celebrated my birthday here. They sang and danced and I got this ginormous pink cotton candy. The staff was amazing and made me feel Ohh so important. To top that off their food was so yummy. Everything I tried was delicious. Im coming back if I ever get back this way!!

The food was fine. Not remarkable but my kids ate their dinners.The noise was unbearable. It was unrealistically loud and to the point I couldnt even hear my children right across the table from me. You couldnt hear yourself think bc the noise level was overwhelming and obnoxious.The staff was great and helpful.My kids loved getting animal balloons and the cottoncandy cake for my birthday.We probably wouldnt go back. 🤷🏼♀️

Have been here about 1 1/2 hrs. Still no food. Took about an hour to get seated. after the front told me 30-40 I went to check up then they told me another 25 minutes. Filling. Got seated shortly after. Still waiting on food. Good thing the waitress was nice
Great food, service, ambiance, and location. From Trisha who greeted us, to Billie our server, and everyone in between, the energy here is awesome.But this is another restaurant jumping on the lets add surcharges to hide the fact were charging you more trend.We understand costs go up, wages go up. So just adjust your menu prices to cover it without trying to keep menu prices artificially low then slap on a surcharge after.
This place is awesome the wait was long but what a good time for the kids to play the arcades. This was our first time here and definitely wont be our last such a fun diner the food was amazing... Each room has a great design. It was fun to see the employees dance together in the old tv room area. There was a ballon guy going around giving balloon animals to children. It was pretty loud in that area with so many families but I still had a great time. In the main area though you have neon lights and the 1950s diner aesthetic. It was really nice. :)
Who would’ve thought a monster truck rally could be quiet by comparison? Hearing protection strongly advised, especially during birthday celebrations.Otherwise, the food was good and the experience unique.

After an hour and half wait we were seated down a narrow hallway with booths. It was cold, loud. Waitresses screaming and yelling. Pounding on the tables apparently everyone there had a birthday same time. We couldnt have a conversation at the same table!! We didn’t even eat our food asked for boxes paid snd left. If you like loud obnoxious drunks then this place will be right up your ally. Nothing like a 50’s vibe they are trying to pull off.
Some of the arcade games were broken and took away from the complete experience but had a great time with my grandkids. Looking forward to going back in the future.The atmosphere was magical and took me back in time!!!
Great burgers. I got the Brenda burger, my husband loved the the sweet potato fries and my son got a kick from our waiter..unfortunately I didn’t get his name but he seemed like he enjoyed his job. Hooting and hollering and doing magic tricks and even dancing with our son.It was a great experience all the way around.We’re from Texas and just visiting but this will definitely be a place we will come back too next time we visit San Diego

This was my first time visiting. It was a lot of fun. They have lots or interesting decorations and of course a Corvette right inside the door. The staff was fun and fast, the food was great. I had the Hawaii burger with fries and a shake. Yummy 😋
Came here for shakes/malts. Made our order (2 chocolate-based shakes). Manager came to tell us that they only have strawberry ice cream left. We were sad, but changed our order. Suddenly, the bartender runs out of the kitchen holding a giant tub of un-opened ice cream. It was chocolate. He saved the day. It is delicious and all is well. Amazing staff, amazing ambiance, and delicious shakes. 5 stars. 10/10 recommend!

Kids had a good time playing in the arcade and watching the wait staff show. Lots of birthday parties going on but it was Saturday and this restaurant seems like the perfect place to celebrate a 7-10 year olds birthday.The food was good but not great. The service was about as good as could be expected from a bunch of college students but they seemed to be enjoying their job and that goes a long way.
Awesome place! Love coming here. Delicious burgers and shakes with a classic American Diner vibe. So sweet that I can upgrade to sweet potato fries ($2.50 extra). Great service as well (thanks Simon!). We also witnessed a family sitting next to us, who were celebrating their handicapped childs birthday, have their check covered by the restaurant. Amazing service in all sense. Plus you cant beat the vibe. Love it!

Fun fun family friendly restaurant. Definitely not a quiet place if you are looking for that... but very lively vintage inspired diner with uplifting staff... they sing, make bows in your hair out of straws, a balloon twister roams around, arcade... shakes are delicious. We experienced the black light room since we had a larger group. Food was decent enough... much better than most kid friendly food establishments...the burgers were the table favorite... I had the roast beef dip sandwich. Overall... it is a great place.... for girls night out, birthdays and celebrations. Its fun!

Great experience every time we go there! We usually go there with family and friends from out of town and they loved it. Very colorful dinner, great selection of milk shakes and tasteful menu. Arcade games and friendly staff. PS: Get ready for ongoing 50s music. Not a place for a quiet date night but more for a fun loving, birthday celebrating and heavy loaded menu.
