Review for service provided 5/10/21I had my door, motor and all included accessories fully replaced, the motor unit was stamped 1995, and according to the old listing from when I bought my house, the door itself was about 9 or 10 years old at time of replacing.John was awesome, he spent the whole day at my house doing the removal and installation of everything by himself, even had to do some modifications to the frame of the actual garage opening because the previous installation was poorly done; thats been par for the course with this home, unfortunately.Im amazed with the quality of the products, even though I went with the cheapest options that were offered, and the installation is top notch.Door Dorks wasnt the cheapest company I got a quote from, but for such an important part of my home, (I know its a rarity in SoCal, but we have a two car garage and both my girlfriend and I park inside of it) I was okay with spending a couple hundred more to get something better than what others offered.Extra shout outs to Gina for helping over the phone with getting everything coordinated and helping answer questions I had, as well as Matt and Aaron, who had come out to do an inspection and repair some things with the old door back in early March.

This is the second time I have used their service. My wheel popped off the track and come to find the wheel was warped and whoever put the door in had put it in badly. It’s never a fun day when you need to call a repair service...but life happens. I’ve used Door Dorks a few times now and they have always been caring, professional, fast, and efficient! Today was no exception, my spring broke on my garage door while my car was inside. Within one hour John was at my house ready to fix my problem! He assessed the door and confirmed the issue, then he gave me all my options (not pressuring me into anything that I didn’t need). I gave the go ahead and he finished in less than an hour! He even took the time to look at my neighbors door while he was here. I can’t say enough great things about this company!

Currently renting my townhome and because of wear and tear the large spring above my garage door broke in half causing the door to not fully open:/ Property managers called on Door Dorks to contact me to schedule an appt for a technician to come out. A Fantastic experience all around! I have never purchased a garage door in my life, and had no idea what to expect. I thought my garage door overhead would vibrate off the ceiling. I called Door Dorks, expecting to be scheduled in a few days. Nope-they were able to see me a few hours later that day. Bad news: my door motor was toast. Good news: the new motor is powerful and quiet, everything was explained in detail and the gentleman was extremely professional. Do I also need a new garage door? Yes, but that will be eventually and he gave me a few door manufacture sites to browse, then they can order and install.I am very pleased with this company!

He spent a great deal of time helping us find the door that fit into our budget, matched the craftsman style of our new home and has a front mounted motor so as to not interfere with a car lift. I was 100% happy with the choice to use this company. From start to finish it felt next level with the great care and communication. I was a difficult customer and had a hard time choosing which brand new door to go with and Dorian was so informative and patient. Zero pressure. Door Dorks displayed prominently with a favorable 56 Google 5-stars rating so that I read some of its reviews, Jacob is friendly and business does a good job. I gave Door Dorks a try, a big mistake.After I made an appointment last Friday and Jacob came to service the call, Jacob was disappointingly not friendly at all. Though friendliness isnt a requirement for the job, Jacob was more abrupt and taciturn, no sign of politeness. I have wondered about and questioned the accuracy of the Google, and later, the Yelp, reviews of Door Dorks.Moving on, oddly, I did not receive a written estimate before the repair; Jacob only said, The office told you the price? Looking at your door, anywhere between $250 and $300 for one spring for a single garage in a two single garage newer home.I mentioned that the size of his new spring did not match the size of the broken very short spring. Repairmen usually explain their choice of parts and work to the novice customer when asked; however, Jacob only answered, I know my work than you, a longer spring lasts longer (I wondered why but an answer was not obviously forthcoming), but I can put in a shorter spring if you want.On the receipt, the single 218Rx30 spring cost $139.98, a very high mark-up, and labor $95, for a total bill of $234.98.Other garage door repair persons always asked before placing their business emblem and phone number sticker next to the manual garage door opener in my homes. Unknown to me, after Jacob had finished the repair, without asking, Jacob gratuitously removed the previous garage door repair persons business emblem and phone number sticker and wire-stapled his non-sticking business emblem below the manual garage door opener. Doubting that I will use Jacobs service in the future in view of Jacobs behavior and high bill, I removed his stapled business emblem; as a result, I have two needlessly small holes to spackle now.If the car, earlier stuck inside the garage, had not been needed, I would have preferred my regular garage door opener installer and repair shop with a friendly office staff, friendly repair people, and a very friendly and helpful owner, but, unfortunately, the office was on voicemail that Friday and I had to, VERY REGRETFULLY, settle on this over-rated business.
