4/11/21 Great espresso but kinda pricey. Ordered 4 shots ($4,50) Got less than 1,5 oz. I asked the girl who was taking orders and serving drinks. She confirmed that a shot should be equal to an ounce, then turned to barista and asked if he had poured 4 shots. He said yes... 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️Great location, professional and friendly staff. I’ll try latter to order a double...
Great spot for bougie single origin cold brew and pour over.
Their house iced vanilla latte was just decent. Expected more for the price. It got better as I got toward the bottom, indicating it could have been stirred more. They dont have wifi but the Starbucks across the street is actually really strong.
Good coffee. best gluten free treats! I dream of going back soon for their gluten free strawberry scones/muffins. yum yum... so good!
Great latte, lots of indoor and outdoor seating to social distance.
The best coffee around! These guys know what they are doing
Pricey drinks and food. Overnight oats were good. Service was really off-putting. Some feedback would be some kindness and customer service at the front when picking up orders. It wasnt even busy and we felt very unwelcome.
Rude staff yells impatiently when asked to repeat themselves. I was prepared an iced coffee overflowing with ice, asked for less ice and received a half portion.
Awesome oat milk lattes! Unfortunately no wifi so not a good wfh coffee shop but otherwise, great
Some of the best coffee I’ve ever had and definitely top 3 in LA, at least on the west side. Highly recommend the pastries if you’re in the mood to indulge
Cute, quaint little coffee shop. They have oat milk!
Expertly-made coffee drinks - including a properly-small flat white - from friendly staff. Now that outdoor-dining has resumed they have placed 3 tables on the 7th St. side but they are in high demand and they unfortunately haven’t used the curb parking for seating, as other businesses on Montana have, so we had to sit on the curb. That part was not ideal.
Love the Mocha Latte but whats up w the guy with the greasy black hair? Do the words kind, nice & friendly not in his vocabulary? Man, change your attitude or go work at the post office where you will feel right at home.
Great Mocha Latte as usual! Best around! Although, the service can be ALOT better. Just now, this dude w long black hair forgot to toast my bagel. He loudly tells one of the girls behind the bar that my bagel is coming. He easily could have told me that himself but instead he walked in the back to hide or something. Ive been coming here for awhile n every time he takes my order, he neither says good morning nor smiles nor say thank you! In the past, I took it in stride cause maybe he was having a bad morning but frankly, this guy shouldnt be working in a hospitality based environment.
A little pricey but happy to see something else than Starbucks and supporting a small business. Good coffee overall.
Great coffee. Their lattes are always on point. Great small corner outdoor seating. Always very friendly staff.Pre-COVID-19, the interior was packed and sometimes the crowd can be a little too much of the“not aware of your surroundings” type when trying to drink and enjoy your coffee in peace.... but now not as much.Lines can get long depending on the time you arrive, but the process is much smoother with their online/Square preordering process - especially if you’re just picking up and on the go. Try it!
Fabulous coffee, especially cappuccino. Great location and outdoor sitting area.
Great coffee! Love chocolate chip cookie!
Coffee is good enough, but the service is RUDE. Ill be taking my business back to Peets even though its further way.
The meals we had were beautifully prepared and truly delicious.
I love this coffee shop. Excellent coffee, perfectly steamed hot lattes and a beautiful clean location. The environment is relaxing and enjoyable with plenty of space to chill out.You can park in the back and the coffee shop will validate your 5 min parking to grab something quick, otherwise you have to find street parking. If you want something without sugar they can modify your drink, which I love. A big bonus is you can always find people and their dogs within and around the coffee shop which makes the experience much better! Dogs are life! 🐕Update: ever since Covid aka the Apocalypse, their lattes have been seriously lacking. After the third time of being on the receiving end of a half-filled cup that was supposed to be a latte (not foamed at all) I switched to another coffee shop.
My favorite local coffee shop on Santa Monica! I love walking here to get the mocha latte. The beautiful space and lovely staff make this place. If you wanna read the book or have a conversation over coffee, you should come here. Cant wait to come back!
Great choice for any coffee or expresso drink.
To me.... overpriced and pretentious.
Im not a huge coffee drinker, but this is my favorite place in the area. The staff is the type that will remember your name after a few visits. Great location and theres parking in the back (they validate).
Best coffe in santa monica.
Ive always had anything I order being perfection, plus kind employees... dont pass this place up!
Delightful beverages esp. when accompanied with good company. ;)
We come here after a musical jam at the Palisades Park every Saturday. They are the friendliest people! and the vegan fudge is to die for! Coffee is great too!
Great coffee and one of my favorite spots in Santa Monica. They are also super pro, we had a gift card and for some reason it wasnt in their system. They honored it anyway then said they would investigate and follow up and they actually did! Was impressed by how professional their staff handled the situation. That kinda stuff goes a long way.
Great coffeehouse. Just dont come here hungry. Not a lot of food selection. Came around 2:30 and they were out of the only sandwich. No wifi, but great ambiance and good coffee drinks. Coming back for sure
Love their coffee, but they literally ALWAYS mess up my order! How is that possible? lol, but also not.
Based on our interactions with the owner we could NEVER recommend this place in good faith.
Super cute coffee shop! The best coffee I’ve had in L.A. so far. I wish their staff was a bit more friendly.
I love this small coffee shop and their selection of coffees and teas. They also have really nice pastries and sandwhiches, and an overall relaxing environment.
Primo Passo Coffee is an exquisite local coffee shop that is cool without trying too hard. Its the perfect place to meet up with a friend or colleague.Youll find cold brew, gluten-free pastries and plenty of seating. There is limited street parking and valet parking behind the shop.
Great coffeehouse. Just dont come here hungry. Not a lot of food selection. Came around 2:30 and they were out of the only sandwich. No wifi, but great ambiance and good coffee drinks. Coming back for sure
Nice place for a good cup of coffee. Fast service and fun atmosphere.
Cute, airy spot with good coffee. They have kombucha on tap, a decent selection of pastries (including vegan options), and pressed juices. There is a good amount of seating inside and tables outside along with Wifi for those looking to do some work. The staff is upbeat despite the crowds that form in the morning. Parking nearby is relatively easy.
I write for a music and coffee blog called Crooners In Coffeeshops, in which I interview local musicians at local coffeeshops. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Primo Passo Coffee on our interview date.Family-owned Primo Passo Coffee is located in the cutest part of Santa Monica, where it’s just close enough to get your tan on at the beach or get your shop on at the Third Street Promenade. Fun sized coffee and teas, an assortment of pastries and sandwiches, and a relaxingly pleasant overall atmosphere are all you need to choose Primo over the Starbucks across the street. My little Carmelo was the daintiest and perfect post-hangover pick me up, and even just sitting in the shop uplifted my mood in an instant. And if you’re a fan of Instagram-ing your coffee sesh, their baristas will do latte art for every order!Right when you walk into Primo Passo Coffee, you will be greeted with friendly smiles, the aroma of fresh roasted coffee, and warm sun shining through large, perfectly placed windows. Seating options ranging from bistro style tables to barstools to plush benches along the wall, any sized party can come in and enjoy a quick (or long) caffeine pick-me-up. I especially noticed that a lot of people come here to read or write (even on a collaboration aspect), so maybe one day we’ll learn that the next great novelist or screenwriter came here to work on their passion project.
This is pretty much the best coffee shop on Montana Ave. The coffee is way above average. Like maybe they used voodoo magic to enhance it somehow. I like it even more than Luxxe, which is so good you will dream about it. The only reason I dropped a star is because I personally feel a bit uncomfortable in there. Its like when you walk in, the record scratches and everyone looks up. But their patio is sunny and pleasant despite the traffic around you. But the coffee!! Wow.
I was standing line waiting to order my coffee. When my turn came I was told they were actually closed and asked to leave. For $7 coffee, you can move faster and actually service customers.S
Cute coffee shop in a great part of SM. Its got that hip coffee joint vibe without the pretentious overtones. Friendly staff and great choices for beverages and food. Today was my first time, but I will visit again.
I was only there once but enjoyed the freshly brewed coffee.
Excellent coffee and friendly service. Nice corner location with places to sit outside. Opposite Starbucks. Cool vibe. :)
Really nice coffee! Ordered a long black which took a little while to arrive but it was delicious! Nice service and beautiful interior design - very cool and hip
One of my favorite coffee‘a in Santa Monica
Ive been in California for a week now, without coffee. Coming from Melbourne it is hard to find good coffee but this is a true diamond. Stellar coffee. Taylor especially was wonderfully helpful.
Great coffee and fantastic staff! My new favorite place for coffee!
If you want to get reeaaall boujee and fancy, this is your place to go. I always feel like I have to act like a rich kid walking into a soirée, with my BMW parked outside so everyone can know....no Im just kidding. I like it though. Better than sitting at a place where theres a homeless guy looking like he is rolling a blunt and sounding like he just choked on a tumor growing on his esophagus 😂😂 Ew, gross. TMI......
The interior was very minimalistic and nice! The Chai Tea latte with a double shot was very good, but on the sweeter side.
The coffee at Primo Passo Is as good as it gets. The coffee shop is right across the street from Starbucks. No contest… even at $5 for a large cup of the hot poured variety.
Coffee is consistently high quality here. Had a super sweet espresso with no bitterness at all.
My favorite local coffee shop in Santa Monica! I love walking here to get a delicious almond milk latte before work. The beautiful space and lovely staff make this place worth visiting. :)
Coffee was great service could of been alittle bit better but still loved it all in all .
Probably the best coffee in Santa Monica and thats saying a lot as there are great coffee places nearby. My favorite is the Ethiopian pour-over. Also check out the bagged coffee for sale. We do that at home in a French Press and they grind accordingly.
Solid latte. Got a ham & cheese baguette sandwich as well which was pretty tasty
Clean, simple, beautiful aesthetic. Super friendly staff and the pastries are to die for... 🤤
Great coffee, service pretty quick and some nice shaded seating on the sidewalk outside.
Since opening this place has more of a food selection. its definitely better than the Starbucks across the street, but for the prices of their coffee and food they can certainly do better. service is slow, they dont heat up or toast the pastries, and oftentimes you dont even hear if your drink is ready. on top of that, when you pay they automatically suggest a large tip! they dont even serve you at a table so its a bit much if you ask me. they only have one bathroom so good luck having all that coffee and waiting around....
Good coffee. Good service.
Decent coffee, latte flavors were pretty good, very nice food. Customer service was a bit short. Overall a good coffee shop, but the experience is not quite worth the high price.
The door says For the discerning coffee lover. I guess theyre right, as all the coffees Ive had there were great. Not cheap (about 25% more expensive than SB or TCB on average) but definitely better than average.
Always great - friendly staff and yummy espresso And get a chocolate chip cookie
This seems like a really nice place just off of the main Santa Monica Promenade. The space is very open and generally not too crowded. There are also a number of tables outside as well. The vibe is good and so is the coffee.
My new favorite local coffee shop. Great tasting latte, plenty of seating and friendly staff. Montana Ave is also a way calmer place to hang out than the promenade or Main St. SM!
Nitro cold brew costs 5.25, but the kicker is they serve it with ice. Ice kills all the texture that you would otherwise be getting when you order a nitro from a different coffee shop. Think of it this way... Do you ever get ice when you order beer on tap? You never would do that and coffee shops should never serve nitro with ice. If they do, they should just call it cold brew coffee because youre getting none of the thick frothiness.Anyways they can accommodate your no ice request for an extra dollar. So basically you can spend 5.25 for nitro cold brew or you can spend 6.25 for actual nitro cold brew. Its worth it to spend the extra dollar for actual nitro, but youre probably better off just finding a different shop if you want nitro.Would probably come back for other stuff but at almost two dollars more than another coffee shop, I wouldnt come back for the nitro.
On the higher end of coffee choices along Montana. They take their business seriously and the proof is in their coffee. This is a very good choice when youre in the hood.Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
Super cute place, decent coffee, overly expensive food and no wi-fi. Even when its not busy, no one can be bothered to walk five steps to deliver your coffee to you. Ill be going somewhere else next time.
Easy to walk by, its never too busy enough that you wont get a table. Extremely good quality, seasonal food and particularly good, freshly made pasta.Love this place
Very good coffees. If youre particular about such things, youll appreciate their roasts. Walk here almost every day.
Fabulous coffee here. Great customer service experience
Best mnml cafe in Santa Monica! A beautiful, clean and clear interior design thats perfectly complimented by the skilled baristas crafting delicate cups of coffee, however you like it.
Great little place. No wifi. But this is an awesome place to relax with a cup of coffee.
Best coffee on the west side! My mum loves their hazelnut lattes. Bring your dog with you, they are super friendly there.
Everything about this place is amazing. The coffee, the space and the people.
Whats with the nameless man? The coffee is middle of the road
I brought my mom to this coffee shop I found online. The Brew Bar was spectacular and I was successfully able to show my mom what real, tasty coffee tastes like. The space was clean and baristas were friendly.
Easy to walk by, its never too busy enough that you wont get a table. Extremely good quality, seasonal food and particularly good, freshly made pasta.Love this place
