I found my Happy Place. My first visit to Pennie Fabric but will not be my last. Tampa Bay has no decent apparel fabric shops and this place was worth the hour trip. Online shopping is touch-and-go. Nothing beats being able to actually touch the fabric and feel the drape. I will definitely be back. Nasir is one of those old school New York fabric sellers. He very knowledgeable and shares willingly. The prices were fabulous for the quality of fabric he carries. Silk, Mohair, Wool, you name it. And he carries a LOT! I was pretty lucky and had him all to myself. He even rolled my fabric on rolls for me. Highly, highly recommend the place. Worth a special trip if you are passing anywhere near Sarasota.

Hidden gem. Really glad I listened to the reviews and gave this place a visit. It was a pleasure to meet the owner and he was very helpful. They have incredible apparel fabrics like nothing you could ever find at Joanns. As a beginner sewer I know I will have more projects that will need more fabric and I will definitely return. It really means the world to me to go in and feel the fabric instead of ordering online. I also really love to support small local businesses and being personally helped by the owner made this a great experience. Would give 12 stars if I could.

Fabulous millinery shop! I went in for some sturdy fabric to finish off my travel van. Found so much great fabric! I got great designer fabric in my favorite colors.Ive had the best time creating some new tops for myself. In these crazy time why not spend alitte time finding your best look. There is stuff here you cant find in any stores. Nasir is great help! I gave him some basic ideas of what I wanted and ended up with unusual high quality fabrics.

I had a great experience at Pennie Fabrics in South Florida. There is a huge selection of quality fabrics at less than online prices. The owner is knowledgeable and very willing to help you find just the right fabric. Shopping is by appointment only due to Covid. Wandered in looking for fat quarters... left (after three return visits during my vaca) having learned how to take garment measurements, make a customized pattern, sew a personally tailored sloper, and some glorious fabric I’ve never seen carried at any big box store! I love this place and the staff! If you have any interest in fashion or clothing, consider this place for classes (as well as shopping). Affordable, professional and community oriented. (Ps- There are no fat quarters, this is not a quilt shop. Go there anyway!)

Thousands of gorgeous fabrics from around the world, from the finest silks to gloriously textured suiting and so so many fabulously beautiful others in between.I was searching for silk gauze and chiffon for nuno felting, which is difficult to find except on-line. Pennie Fabrics had plenty of lovely choices and I was able to feel it and see the colors - not something one can be confident about when relying on a computer screen.Owner Nasir was a delight, giving us insight about the origin, design, and culture of the areas these beauties come from. It was the most fun and informative fabric shopping Ive ever experienced.

This is a TRUE fabric shop. In these days where fabric shops are catering to the arts & crafts and quilting crowd, it was refreshing to find Pennie Fabrics. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about fabrics, and is very kind and helpful. He stocks beautiful fabrics of all types sourced from New York and Europe, and they are attractively priced. Classes in pattern making are offered as well. The fabrics are on rolls, rather than bolts, so no creases! I drove several hours to get here, and I was not disappointed. If you sew, you must visit Pennie Fabrics. We need high-end fabrics in Florida, and you will surely find them here.

Pennie fabrics saved my wedding!! Because of Covid-19 it had been extremely difficult to find the right kind of stretch linen my fiancée and I needed for our custom wedding dresses! Finding Pennie fabrics and the owner Nasir was a total blessing. He was SO understanding, helpful, compassionate and thoughtful - when I said my wedding would be outside he brought the fabrics outside in order to test the colors in natural light! A true master of his craft. My sister-in-law wanted to give my wife a special gift for Christmas and called Pennie Fabrics on Christmas Eve morning after reading their reviews online. Shes a busy yoga instructor and shiatsu therapist in Chicago and was impressed with Pennies web site and thought a gift certificate would be perfect, the problem, the gift would not arrive in time for Christmas. The owner said he would personally deliver the gift certificate later on in the day. True to his word, the owner showed up with gift certificate in hand this afternoon. I was absolutely blown away. This amazing fabric store reminds me a movie Yellow Submarine - which was a small boat, but when Ringo walked in it opened up inside like as ridiculously huge ship. Pennie Fabrics has such a small unassuming store front, it is easy to miss. But as you walk in and you find yourself in another world, full of magic. This fabric shop is unique and trendy. The fabrics are primarily for clothing rather than upholstery. Cloth is imported from Italy and there is a huge selection. The owner was there when I arrived and she was very nice. I didnt buy that day because I just stopped in to see what it was like, but i will be back when Im ready to sew. They offer sewing and personal design classes so that you can make your own patterns.

They also offer classes on customizing a sloper for bodice or pants. When sewing on such wonderful fabrics, its great to know how to perfectly customize your garment for your body! Being new to sewing, I have been looking for a good fabric store around that isnt just JOANNs. When I tell you that Nasir has the best fabric store in the area, I mean it. We were given a warm greeting upon arrival and a full tour of the store so we knew how the place was set up. I found this store by way of internet. Upon entering the building, I was totally amazed at the beautiful fabrics that were on display. The owner, Mr. Mahmud greeted me with a friendly smile and proceeded to show me through the store. I bought several pieces of fabric (just could not resist). The fabrics are absolutely gorgeous!! I will be returning very shortly and have told several of my friends about the store. My dressmaker just marveled at the fabric I bought. The fabric is of a very high quality. Mr. Mahmud even walked the packaged fabric to my car when I was leaving. If you are looking for beautiful and quality fabric, this is the place to go!!

The owner is very personable...knows fabrics and is extremely helpful. The Suncoast is lucky to have Pennie...I usually buy fabric when I travel as this kind of quality....at good prices is otherwise unknown around here. Wonderful!

Fabric at its finest. Nasir is so professional and goes out of his way to help. He really knows his fabrics and provides excellent customer service. If you want quality material such as Saks and Neiman Marcus, then this is the place for you. You will not see anyone else in your design. His store is worth our 1hr and 15min drive. We spent over two hours in the store...and out back looking at Nasirs wonderful garden. Customer service at its finest!! The quality and amount of fabrics is amazing and somewhat overwhelming. So many wonderful specialty fabrics. We each only bought one fabric each but she took several swatches to decide on patterns, etc. We will be back. Thank you, Nasir for a great afternoon.
