CameraTechs cleaned and re-greased my Nikon 85mm F2 lens. They were courteous and professional and did a fine job. I would recommend them to anyone who needs camera or lens work done. These days it is important to support American technical professionals.
Have only good things to say about CameraTechs. I bought a used camera a while ago with a really dirty sensor and they took it in, cleaned it perfectly in a surprisingly quick manner and very reasonable pricing. Recently I had an incident with TSA dropping my gear (no fun) and they require a estimate for all the damages. So of course I brought it into CameraTechs and they happily assessed everything (which took quite a bit of time) for no charge. Theyre always friendly, professional, and definitely have a customer for life.
I had an issue with a auto focus Canon lens. I called the shop and the told me the cost to look at my lens and additional cost to repair if they could. They actually suggested that I could probably find a used lens in good shape for less money. I took there advise and found a great used replacement for less money than I would have spent on the Camera Techs lens evaluation. They gave great advice and I will definitely look to them in the future.
I recently had an amazing experience at Camera Techs. The friendly staff was very knowledgeable and helped me make the most budget-friendly decisions when it came to repairing/replacing broken equipment. They have a good selection of used cameras and lenses as well, and prices are fair. I highly recommend this business.
My go to place in Seattle for cleaning and repair! Bought an an old FM in Spain on a trip and brought it in for a service, there were a few things wrong and they turned it around in under a week. I have also brought my 1dxii and all my lenses in for cleaning at least once a year!
Had my fathers old Nikon F3 serviced here. It looks brand new and functions better than ever! Highly recommended and trustworthy business as well as knowledgeable staff.
The vibe from this place was off when I walked in. They told me there was nothing they could do for my broken camera (fine). They told me they had no use for my broken lense for any reason (fine) they where unwilling to help me further, no suggestions, no look at their supply and they absolutely lied about how much my camera would cost to repair. They said I would need a whole new body but I just repaired it for $54. There are better camera shops in Seattle and unfortunately, even the chain stores have better customer service, quality and access.
I had such a great experience at Cameratech today! I thought my nephew and I had broken his dad’s camera, but James spent about 30 minutes thoroughly looking over the entire camera reassuring me that it was a-ok. Thank you so much for your help, James!
A+++ service. Took my beloved Tokina macro lens in for inspection as the rear lens has come loose. Bill inspected and fixed it with in minutes. The staff was kind and proffesional! They have earned a new customer.
I called to discuss my camera with him and he was very knowledgeable. he spoke with me about the cost of repair to my almost 20 year old hand me down camera vs buying a newer camera.
Very helpful tech. Solved my problem in minutes and didnt charge anything.
Took my camera in this morning for a sensor cleaning. They completed the sensor cleaning and cleaned one of my lenses in less than an hour! No more spots! Very happy with the service and will definitely come back for any future repair issues.
Was going to send my Cannon XTi in for repair after 10 years of use, and the excellent rep on the phone said that I could come in to get an estimate or ship in over. She told me it would cost over $200 to fix the camera with the issue it had. Thats what I figured already, so that would be fine. She told me to go to the web site to look at the used cameras they have that would save me money and they have a warranty with them. I did and purchased a XSi which was a late model for $185. (body only) It came today less than 24 hours after I ordered it. Excellent camera, looks and works like brand new. She also gave me an extra battery and charger at no cost. Absolutely the best camera store and service I have ever dealt with. Will recommend to everyone and they will be getting all my camera and accessories business.
Great service. Techs are very nice and professional. I got there very late in the afternoon they had two cameras ahead of me they were working on. They were able to get to mine and finished them for me to take home that day. Thank you guys I really appreciate it!
Quick service. Honest assessment. Services dont come cheap, but they come recommended.
Terrible customer service. Under the recommendations of Kenmore Camera I brought my Sony AR7II into Camera Tech for a repair of my LCD screen. I was under the impression they were sending the camera to Sony for the repair. $400 and 3 months later the LCD screen is again not working. I called in March to talk with camera tech and they were shut down due to CV. Today, I talked with Matt to discuss the issue and they told me too bad its past the 90 day warranty. The manager refused to get on the phone to discuss. So disappointed in my overall experience with Camera Tech. Would recommend you just send your camera into the manufacture and skip this awful experience. Matt refused to give the managers name.....now that makes me think this has sort of problem has happened before.
I sent two vintage lenses a 24mm and a 50mm by mail to Cameratechs for full rebuilds at a cost of 200+ dollars. I was told the lenses would be fully taken apart and cleaned and put back together in new operating condition. One lens was supposed to have an AI aperture ring installed to replace the original non ai ring. When i received the two lenses back in the mail the 50mm now has a scratched rear element making it garbage and the ai aperture ring was not installed correctly and parts are missing (small metal bearing) to install it correctly. The 24mm now has tool marks on the outside of the focusing ring, the lens body was in mint condition before i sent it to CameraTechs. Neither lens had the lens groups taken apart and cleaned like they said the service would include and still have dust inside on and in between individual lenses. CameraTechs committed fraud and charged me to damage my lenses.
What incredibly nice, professional and generous people. When someone gives you honest advice that potentially costs them business, you know you’re at the right place.Very happy that I made the drive.
The only place I trust to fix my cameras. I had an issue and it was fixed but something else in the camera got messed up as a result of the repair. They fixed that on the spot for free. That was perfect. Really made my day.
Extremely professional. They cleaned my lens and I thought it was literally brand new. Super good prices for what you get. This is where I’ll be going for my camera needs
Wonderful staff who are amazingly knowledgeable about all things photography related. Totally worth the visit and if you need a camera fixed they will likely get it done. Also, their used inventory often turns up a rare find for a reasonable price.I can’t recommend this place enough.
Very knowledgeable, honest service. Came in asking for help with a lose lens. Staff recommended a cheap, ingenious rubber band solution instead of taking my money. Same with sensor lens cleaning. After doing a couple of quick tests, said I didnt need it instead of taking my money.
I was visiting Seattle and needed a fast repair, everyone at Cameratechs was so friendly and helpful! Not only did they fix it fast and at a reasonable price, their staff and service was great. Highly recommend!
I spent about 20 minutes in this store today and had a great experience. One of the techs patiently answered my basic questions, and quickly cleaned the few spots on my sensor. He also replaced a missing screw on my old lens hood. No cost! They have a great selection of straps and I bought a couple accessories. I will be back if I need any repairs!
Very helpful. Im just beginning to practice and they helped me figure out the equipment I needed. Super friendly and kind. Also knowledgeable!
Wonderful place with friendly, knowledgeable staff. I have had them clean camera sensors several times and they were able to do the work quickly on a drop-in basis. They have also helped out on a couple of lens repair issues, most recently fixing the problem without charge. Great to have them in the neighborhood.
Cool camera shop that has a great selection of used equipment for film and digital cameras. Need colored filter? They have them. Used lens and bodies for all major brands.
Im an amateur photographer who shoots with film and digital almost daily.Over about five years Ive purchased several 35mm and medium format film cameras along with some accessories at Camera Techs. The owner and staff are always helpful and professional. The advantage of purchasing a camera there is that you get the camera at fair market value plus the inspection/calibration/lubrication etc. which is included at that same price. Its a great value and they stand behind the work 100% for me. So Ill keep going there for those reasons.
Very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. I had an old light meter that needed an upgrade and calibration. I was able to shop locally and I will go back!
I love these guys. They are keeping film photography alive by selling and servicing film cameras. I have had them repair several cameras, and I have bought several wonderful cameras that were expertly serviced and work flawlessly. If you like classic film cameras, visit Bill and the guys.
Bill is fantastic. Very techie and nice guy. I love this place.
When I brought my Sony camera in for repair, every staff were attentive and courteous. The turn around time for the camera was quick. They reassure me what is expected. The cost is fair for the amount of work required for my camera. I definitely recommend visiting the shop for their services!
Ive been working with Cameratechs for two decades and find their service on the mark every time. Theyre professional and always try to find the most affordable methods of repair to fit my budget. Whether a pro or casual photographer, I definitely recommend them.
We are from out of town headed to Whistler. Our protective lens broke and needed to get it fixed asap. Stopped here and they were able help us and fix in 30 mins. Everyone was friendly and really appreciated their quick service!
I have has my cameras serviced by these guys ince the mid-80s when they were still in the U-District. I have since moved out of state but I still mail my cameras in for repairs. I trust their work and when I get my camera back it is not only in tip top operating condition but also super clean and new looking on the exterior. Wont go anywhere else...
Nice to find a place that knows how to do a camera repair.
I called Cameratechs prior to my visit. I had gone on line and read some reviews and some were not promising and had been trending down. On Google there was nothing recent but reviews were better. They told me it would take about a half hour to clean my camera...as long as my battery was charged up. I took it in and was greeted immediately. I mentioned I had called and the person to whom I spoke remembered me and my camera issues...spots (two different types...one something like water and the other dark). We chatted for a few minutes about cameras, lenses, places we have been and wanted to go to take photos then I took off to explore Ballard. Sure enough about 30 minutes later I got a call and my camera was done (I also got an e-mail on my phone). He took a few minutes to tell me what they found when they were cleaning...oil and sand. He explained how it probably got there...the oil that is...I know how the sand got there...I had taken the camera to the Galapagos, Hawaii and down to Edmonds beach in the past year...so no big surprise they found it. They told me if I was not happy in the next week to bring it back. I took it home and immediately took a photo and downloaded it. Viola! No spots! Since I am off to Italy in a week, I am extremely happy and grateful they took care of my camera so quickly and so thoroughly.
Camera stores were once notorious for generating a particular type of douchebag, either the frustrated bitter shooter who couldnt make a living, or the gearhead whose sole purpose in life is to sell the highest price gear to the highest paid pro customer while fawning over him sickeningly, and all other customers deserve no quarter. There is, or was, a rude douche like that at this location, but he seems to have gotten the memo and deferred to others, who are helpful. This guys vibe of condescension was palpable even before he opened his mouth. Weird choice to pursue a career in retail.HOWEVER, They do a better job of cleaning your sensor than you ever will, know their used gear and lenses, and have some good boutique accessories, particularly harnesses and straps. Considering camera stores are a dying breed in the age of Amazon, this one is worth visiting on a trip to Ballard, just hope you dont get that one guy.
Over the years, I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with these folks. They are knowledgeable, have a wide array of stock and accessories and are fully willing to make customized recommendations based upon the customers needs.I took my camera body and lens in to be cleaned / repaired respectively. The body was done in 45 minutes. The lens was done the following afternoon (despite a 4-5 day warning). They under promise and over deliver in other words. They even had a sense of humor when my son went exploring in the back room.Appreciate that I have a local shop who can do the needful, so to speak.
Awesome customer service!! Very helpful in cleaning my camera & lens. Would definitely recommend this place.
They did a great job cleaning my sensor, came on a trip from Alaska, where had my sensor cleaned locally and still was dirty. Glad I took the bus system to make it down there. ;)
I am no camera expert and had never been to a real camera shop before coming here, but the staff was kind, professional, and helpful. They explained their process thoroughly, fixed my problem quickly, and even gave me tips for the future.
Fixed Rollei 35s for $100 and it is working like new in both shutters and frame counter!Would use again.
I took my GH5 here to get the sensor cleaned. Bill informed me that there was something underneath the protective sensor glass that could not be cleaned off and that I probably needed a sensor replacement. Luckily the camera is still under warranty, and Bill provided unparalleled customer service by not charging me for the sensor cleaning seeing as I still have to send it in to Panasonic. I would definitely come here again for any of my camera needs. Huge thanks to Bill and Cameratechs. Seems like an excellent business.
The main guy who works there is awesome. He was so friendly even though Im a camera novice ! He cleaned my lens and helped me get what I needed.
A bit like a museum that you can shop!
Great service and fun selection of film camera equipment
Absolutely excellent service. I traveled down from Canada to drop my broken lenses off with CameraTechs and they made the trip worthwhile within five minutes of entering the store. They are fast, friendly, and absolutely the best repair place Ive ever been to.
Really happy with this shop. They really know their stuff and are happy to help with some advice or tips.
Cameratechs is awesome and they have been ever since I first started using them 25 years ago. Professional service all the way around, plus a wonderful assortment of used cameras and lenses.
Great, knowledgeable staff here!
They treated me right, and did a good job in cleaning my camera and lenses.
Came down from Whidbey island for a photoshoot at Greenlake. Brought my gear in (1 body and 3 lenses ) for a cleaning and view window repair as a walk in. Went to lunch and they were done in under an hour! Prices were great and service excellent! Highly recommended!
Excellent experience having my Sony sensor cleaned here! Fast, friendly, and great work.
I needed an emergency cleaning of my camera sensor and these guys came through with flying colors. Cleaned in 30 minutes and like brand new. Cant recommend these guys enough!
Im so glad to find them. Real experts on Camera repairs. A little pricy but hey if you have something important to be repaired, tell me how many people are there who really know what they are doing. Must visit
Cameratechs has an amazingly helpful staff that has a vast knowledge of cameras and photography, and are willing to help with all and any questions and issues i have yet to have on my photography journey.
Didnt have the part I wanted but was able to get something that worked. So much second hand canon gear.
This group is always friendly and helpful. I went in for a sensor cleaning, the camera came back great.
This place is fantastic. They have excellent prices on used items and great staff.
Great quick service on my Canon lens repair and camera cleanings
Did a fantastic job cleaning my camera sensor
Definitely the most knowledgable and courteous team in Seattle! Worth the drive.
Great service! Best camera store and repair Ive been to in over 10 years!
This place is a gem, they do great work, and the service never disappoints. Rock on Cameratechs
I took my Canon 24 -105 and My 150 - 600 Tamron in for repair They fixed my canon which was not cheap It was half the price of a new one but figure its a new one now . As far as the Tamron goes when pulled it out I think size scared them lol . Something about cant get parts or to hard to work on dont know
I could not be happier. Our DLSR had something on the sensor. We took it to three different camera stores that all claimed to clean and/or service DLSRs, but none of them would even try to clean ours. The last store recommended Cameratechs. As I was describing the problem and even before I had the body out of its bag, the Camertechs staffer knew what was needed. He put the body under the service microscope that is right behind the sales counter and used a hand-pump air blower to remove the hair that was fowling our pictures. After refusing to take any payment for this, he proceeded to clean both of our lenses and the mirror. In less than 10 minutes, we were in and out of the store will a camera that was just like new.Although it is a bit out-of-the-way for those of us on the eastside, the trip deep into Ballard is completely worth it for such terrific, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable service. Cameratechs will be our first stop for camera service and gear from now on!
Helpful staff, incredibly quick services.
Nicest people ever. Fixed my jammed camera for nothing.
Lots of used cameras and gear for sale. They seem like genuinely nice people.
Very disappointed with the customer service of the staff. Knowing next to nothing about cameras, I went in to see about appraising and selling an old camera and was told to just go look on eBay. They wouldnt even take the time to tell me what I had in order to sell it on my own. They wont be getting any business from anyone I know if I can help it.
Bad service, bad prices, stupid staff.
