I’ve been visiting Seattle with our 2 youngest daughters and checking everything off of their to-do list….saving my wants for last. I saved the last hour of our day on a Saturday to stop in at Watson Kennedy while the girls hit the shops in Westlake. My bad. I arrived at Kennedy Watson a little more than 1 hour before their posted closing time (which is supposedly 6p.m.) and buzzed for entrance - per the signage. A handsome man opened the door and promptly turned around to lock it front he outside while informing me that they were closing early. Never mind what is/was posted on the website or the front door, I wasn’t gaining entrance even though I was a potentially paying customer. Upon investigating their website I can see why I didn’t matter. Perhaps the “made for Watson Kennedy in France” and a few currently existent loyal and/or wealthy clientele assuage the proprietors enough to feel comfortable turning away anyone at any time. Never mind. Anyway, upon perusing their offerings online, I realized that very few of the items in their store are very unique or interesting. What had drawn my eye in the first place was the Cornish Ware- since I have an small collection. As a business owner the Bottom line is this: every client matters.
Bigger than youd think from the front entrance. Great luxury and Euro-import home store w/ upscale vintage mixed in.
The last time we were in Seattle we had the best shopping time in Watson Kennedy and then went back the next day! Great ideas and presentation of so many wonderful items.
A hidden gem for those that love knick knacks. We spent nearly 30 minutes just walking through the well laid decor. A euro-american stop on our walk through downtown.
Friendly and filled with delightful stuff for the home. GREAT gift shop! I didnt know I needed orange taper candles when I went in but it turned out i did need them! Friendly shop person turned me in the correct direction to help me find the place I was looking for. Loved it!
This is where you find items that when you have guests they notice all the great details.
Great selection of all the beautiful things. You can find small but luxurious items. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Perfect place to find gifts and they offer gift wrapping.
Pretty great place to find gifts for those you know that love local and/or artisanal items. Wide selection of items you wont find many other places. Their gift wrapping is excellent and included with the purchase. Its also just a fun place to explore. You can easily spend 15 to 30 minutes wandering around and getting lost.
Watson Kennedy is in a class by itself. Totally original just like the owner! All that you see is carefully chosen by Ted with love and care. Ive been a fan and satisfied client for 20 years. If you dont rate it 5 stars, Im going to take your temperature!
One of my favorite stores to visit in Seattle! Love everything there. ♥️
Store with lots of unique home goods. Looking for a set of party napkins with old-timey drawings of whales on them? This is the place. Need a corkscrew made from part of a deer antler? They got it. This is the kind of store you could browse on a first date before going for drinks; lots of conversation pieces, whether or not you buy them.
Fancy knick-knacks that are pricey, but I love the offerings and decor of the store. They are also the only place in Seattle offering my favorite tea range, Mariage Freres, so that alone gets my 5 starts.
Style for miles. Everything from books to barware to cufflinks to olive oil, expertly curated into the premier housewares store in downtown Seattle. (Tip: check out their Spotify playlists if you like classic jazz.)
Friendly staff, and the store is well organized. The areas are arranged by color, higher price range for journals and cards, knick knacks. Everything seemed to be good quality.
Wow, in a world of commodity chain stores this is a unique gem of lovingly curated treasures.
I stopped by out of curiosity after work last week, thinking it was nice to have a shop like this so close. I had been meaning to check this place out, but hadnt had the opportunity until that afternoon. I had high hopes of midday shopping excursions, and cute bags full of great gifts.I walked in and immediately encountered an employee as I opened the front door. He looked me straight in the eye as I greeted him with a cheerful Hi! and a big smile. He promptly did an about face, and walked all the way to the back of the store, completely ignoring me.I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe he was just an awkward man, and began browsing. I browsed the entire store over the course of several minutes. During those minutes, I saw and heard the man who had ignored me chatting it up with another male employee in the back of the store. It was impossible for either of them not to notice I was there, as I was the only person in the whole place, and its very small. They were clearly going out of their way to ignore my presence. The items I found were not in any way stunning, or different from anything I could find at any other little gift shop that fancies itself as a fine home retailer. Youd find more unique items at any shopping mall. The store was organized and clean, but the selection of items didnt lend itself to the store name. The closest thing to fine home was the sign hanging out front, which was what lured me in. The rest is just trinkets and gifts - notepads, candles, etc. Nothing unique or exciting.Overall, I give this place one star for the nice sign. The staff is deliberately rude, the selection is minimal, and the merchandise is blah. Too bad, seeing how its so close to where I work.Cone and Steiner (next door) has some locally produced (and other non-local, I believe) food items (brandied cherries, raw honey, etc.) that are much more interesting and unique anyway, and would make great gifts too. Theyre also extremely professional and friendly, which impressed for a shop in Seattle, where thats not a cultural norm. So next time I feel like browsing, Ill skip the first door on the block and just head to Cone and Steiner instead.
Fabulous store! Beautifully curated with all sorts of lovely giftware and goodies! Very helpful and friendly customer service, too!
Cute little store with fun European themed gifts, I always find something I want here.
Unique finds, a cute shop, a bit pricey.I highly suggest NOT purchasing through the website as they overcharge double for shipping. I would in turn suggest purchasing through there brick and mortar shop instead.
Cute little shop with a variety of gift and kitchen type items. People who were working there were very sweet.
Great place to buy gifts (including for yourself 😉), lots of really neat items!
Exceptionally nice staff and very good selection however it really is overpriced for what it is
Such a fun place to shop. Very unusual items and amazing inventory.
Warm, friendly staff and great gift ideas for the variety of friends and family on your lists.
Big selection of quirky gifts. This year I did all of my Christmas shopping here!
