Perfect weather for ice cream! You can immediately smell the rich creaminess upon entry.You’re able to sample taste test. I ended up with a small cup which included two ice cream scoops and you’re allowed to mix and match. I got peppermint and espresso coffee. They gave a lid since I asked for to-go. Took home for 20 minute drive and it melted. Stuck it back in the freezer and it stayed separated. Perfect way to end the night.

$6.75 hot fudge sundae shouldnt look like that miserable ball of hard ice cream, a bit of hot fudge and a lot of whipped cream! I have to also mention the $7.50 milkshake in a 16oz cup!

I was excited to try this place but apparently they just make their own hours. Their website and the sign on their door states they are open until 9:00PM. I got arrived at 8:08 PM and the door was locked and they were cleaning up. I politely knocked on the door to ask if the hours were wrong and the staff would not come to the door or acknowledge me. With how overpriced everything on their menu is you would think they would show the customer a little more respect.

Great ice cream, great service, reasonably priced. Milk Allergy friendly. They serve a dairy free fruit sorbet and when I told them that it was for someone with a mild allergy; they opened a fresh tub and sanitized a scooper to serve it with. Highly recommend.

Home made pies called me to pull over- fresh peach slice o heaven! Didn’t try their ice cream- but the staff was super friendly! Try the Cafolacream!! Delish!

Fantastic homemade ice cream. The Belgian chocolate was spot on. The Oreo and espresso were wonderful and the vanilla was also quite good. The waffle cones are the only cone option and made in house ($1). They also have chocolate waffle cones which looked good. The picture is 1 scoop with 2 flavors. The other desserts and pies also looked very good. Best ice cream we’ve had along that strip.

The sign saying hand-made pies caught my attention and its TRUE. They are literally making the pies right in the back and you can watch. The bourbon chocolate chip pecan was so good and you can get a whole pie, a slice, or al a made. The icecream was amazing. The scones were so fresh and the coffee was delicious. The staff was nice and patient. There is not much seating so you might have to eat outside but I definitely recommend stopping by and getting a slice of pie with icecream!

Another one of those difficult reviews, friendly, quick service, slice of pie was very good as was the ice cream but dang, $7.00 for a smaller than normal slice of pie & one very small scoop of ice cream that didnt even make it half way through the small slice of pie bite for bite.😒 Also the ice cream in the Turtle Sundae was about the same size as on the pie???? Its an ice cream sundae for crying out loud, its supposed to have ice cream in the dish .... I come from a tourist town, I get it, you can ask just about any price you want but at least make your customer feel like theres some value for their money, not leaving disappointed. We will find another place. Brett was awesome!!

Highly recommend the prickly pear cactus ice cream, as its a flavor you wont find anywhere else. The ice cream here is very creamy and sweet, and theres a reasonable variety of flavors available, so chances are: theyll have something for everyone in your party.

Great selection of flavors and really fast but friendly service. I tried the Black Cow (root beer float) and it was excellent. Other family members tried strawberry, mocha freeze, and butter pecan. Everyone was happy!

The ice cream was delicious. The customer service could definitely use some help. We went close to closing time and I understand the ladies want to go home. But when you have a line out the door and one lady is helping the line and 3 ladies are cleaning up. They should stop what your doing and help out.

This place was just okay... honestly its not worth the price. There are better restaurants and places for ice cream. The prickly pear was fairly weak and would have been better as a sorbet.

I’ve had ice cream from here before, but just recently had a hotdog and coffee from here and was amazed by the taste of both! And great staff working which is always a plus!

Ice cream was ok for me but I ordered a latte and it was delicious, the only thing was that I had to ask for more hot milk because it was cold but flavor wise was great and strong!

I have been going to Black Cow Cafe with my boys for close to 20 years. The ice cream is homemade and the waffle cones are soooo good. Peppermint chip is my personal favorite, but they are all great.

The ice cream is decent. Not great but not bad. Some of the flavors were better than others. The waffle cone was okay - nothing amazing and a little bland. It lacked that typical waffle cone taste But the prices are really steep for what you get. I get that this is in town but probably some of most expensive ice cream and pie Ive ever paid for. Worth doing as a one off when in town as a treat.

Love this place!!! It was our first stop in Sedona and we fell in love. 4 days later we looked up a place to get ice-cream and this place popped up with the best reviews so we went and found it was this same place. Then a few days later we found out that some friends had places thru Sedona and stopped there for ice-cream too!

Daughter has a nut allergy and they sanitized a bunch of utensils and got ice cream from a fresh pint and they were super cool about it. Ice cream is always great. I agree that sometimes the customer service aint always on point but that is pretty rare.

This Worlds best hot dog had a worlds worst design. No meat at the end of the dog.The first bite had some integrity and surprise because of the texture. The crunch was pleasant and I liked it, but there was a lack of ketchup and mustard at the top. The middle was the great condiment Goldilocks zone. I wasnt hungry when I ordered it, but I finished 85% of this beefy baguette.Honestly the design of this will make me avoid recommending this dog as it left me with a messy ending.

I was there for ice cream, and was entirely unimpressed by it. Not many options for true ice cream, only 6-8, with 2 of those being chocolate or vanilla. I got oreo and was super disappointed in the flavor, or lack thereof. They did have good waffle cones, but I wouldnt go there again for the ice cream.

Got the big cookie made with all the cookie doughs in one! Soft with crispy edges. Oatmeal, chocolate chips, Reeses Pieces, M&Ms, all in one thin, chewy cookie. Not sure if they have this flavor the time, but it was a great treat.

The place smells delicious and the Mocha freeze was amazing. Hope I get to go back and sample a piece of pie soon.

We stopped by here while visiting Sedona and I was very pleased with the delicious apple pie a la mode. The young man behind the counter was courteous and didnt hesitate to accommodate my request that the pie be warmed up. If we find ourselves in the area again we would certainly come back.

Caffogato was pretty good though the ice cream was freezer-burnt. Otherwise it would be a good option! Iced latte was supposed to have caramel but didnt, and the taste was not worth the price.

This is honestly one of my favorite places to visit in the state.. The atmosphere is fantastic as it has that old creamery feel. Many times have I drove up from Phoenix just to enjoy a little get away with a little bit of ice cream. Im a big fan of the cherry pie. Depending on what time of the season parking can be a little scarce getting close to the shop so you may have to walk a little ways to get their

We came here twice on our visit to Sedona, the first trip I would give 5 stars! We got the prickly pear ice cream with raspberries mixed in and it was amazing (pictured) the girl at the counter was friendly but rushed, it was very busy so it was fine.The second visit here, was not as good. We came back to get prickly pear ice cream again but with blueberries this time. The girl at the counter was not very friendly, I had asked for my ice cream in a cup and my boyfriend asked for a cone. She handed me a cup with a waffle cone inside. She offered to remake it but it wasn’t a big deal and she didn’t charge me. But the problem was that the blueberries they were using to mix in had a sour taste like they had gone bad in both of our ice creams. She offered to remake them, so it all ended up okay.

We came back after 10 years for the apple crumble pie! It is just as amazing as I remembered! Luckily we visited on the first night of our trip this time so we will definitely be back for more before we go!

Had a banana split which was great. Priced at $8 bucks I was surprised since its a very touristy place and expected to pay a bit more. Other ice cream places cost a lot more.

Omgosh this Ice-cream is so so good! The ice-cream and the waffle cones ! Seriously ice cream from heaven,. We had Oreo, Strawberry and Malted Vanilla in Waffle cones! This is a must everytime we go to Sedona!

A little pricey, and the wait can be tough during busy nighttime hours (7-9), but you can make it worth your time. Some of the flavors are hit or miss, but this specific combination is the best Ive had here (DEFINITELY GET THIS IF ITS YOUR FIRST TIME): half Buttered Pecan and half Malted Vanilla. A trip to HEAVEN

Great ice cream

What a disappointment. the ice cream itself was fantastic however the pies... the pies... what a mess. The fruit pies looked beyond dried out and just visually sad to look at so ended up going with the pecan pie. How can anyone thats a baker mess up pecan pie? Well now I know they can. The flavor was flat and underdeveloped. The sugar ratios are off, pecans were mushy chopped pieces vs halves which throws off the texture. Filing was missing salt and vanilla notes. If its really home made they need a new recipe. It was just off like something youd get at a Walmart - not something made from scratch. You need either a new pie baker or a new pie supplier especially when youre charging $4.50 a slice for boring, flat flavorless pie.

The ice creams and floats were excellent. Definitely worth a visit. The space is small and more suited to eating whilst walking than indoors. The location is great with a shopping mall, restaurants and various stores all around. There is no bathroom or place to wipe off sticky hands in here. Like many places here, they do not recycle.

Maybe it was an off night but was not happy with what we got. Service was good but my husbands brownie sundae was just a scoop of ice cream, tons of hot fudge, no brownie and a bunch of peanuts and my smoothie was super sour. May try again when I come to visit

Delicious ice cream and friendly staff

This cafe is one of my favorites because it is so versatile and serves different options of food, beverages, and desserts. I mainly come here for the ice cream and it is delicious! I always go for the Oreo sundae and it’s magical. The scent of walking by this cafe is hard to ignore because of the fresh waffles they make. Not only is the food and ice cream amazing, but the service is phenomenal. The employees who have served me in this cafe are always welcoming and friendly, no matter how crammed the small shop is. Didnt see anything about whole pie options, just seen apple on the menu. They had slice options; apple, blueberry, pecan, cherry, strawberry rhubarb, all your norms.. we went in about 7pm on a Tuesday,Good macaroons and smoothies.

Worth every penny. We purchased Oreo, blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream on top and coffee. All were delicious. Made in-house so the smell was amazing.

All of the flavors tasted pretty similar. Would have been a reasonable experience at half the cost.

Really enjoyed my visit. The hot dog encased in a French roll was exceptional. Homemade pie and ice cream was very good. The waffle cones are continuously made so they are fresh and tasty. The cons: good food but overpriced for what you get. Get rid of the tip options on the payment screen. There is no waitress service so why. Overall a nice visit.

What more can you say about fresh waffle cones and homemade icecream. They also have a variety of pies and food options to order.The line was out the door when we arrived but moved at a decent pace. Everyone got something a little different and we were all super happy with our decision making and we didnt have any regrets. I had the triple berry pie a la mode with strawberry ice cream. It was wicked awesome.

Great location and food is also good ... BUT REALLY need to get rid of that force tipping of services. we ordered take out and made to feel a 15 or 18% tip is necessary . I know the store keep 50% or so of that but even still to flip the screen in your face with tip options is not right. you need to preform a service at restaurant to earn a tip not just show up ... Makes me want to avoid the place all together .

Quaint and homey pie and coffee shop. I had my favorite - pumpkin pie. I find theirs a little too sweet. They have a good selection of coffee.

After our lunch, my family and I swung in here to grab some homemade pie. We ordered a slice of apple crumb pie with some vanilla ice cream and regular apple pie. Both were delicious, but the apple crumb pie was the best! The vanilla ice cream paired really well with it. Highly recommend this place.

If you like Ice Cream and the other stuff they have on their menu, this is the Ice Cream place for you. Ice Cream is made amazing there and the staff is super as well. Love walking in a grabbing myself some Ice Cream during a hot Sedona Summer day. Oh and they have cool shirts! Comfy and fashionable. They also have cool Ice Cream flavors and such. In all seriousness, the Ice Cream is superb there. Overall fantastic, every time I go!10/10 would go and forget to buy their shirts but instead buy the Ice Cream.

This place is an ice cream shop with ice cream, shakes, sundaes, pie with some sandwiches and a “world famous” hot dog. Not sure why it would be famous if it has ketchup on it 😲This place gets busy in the evening and our wait was about 15 minutes. The ice cream is good and the apple pie is tasty too.

Mocha latte sundae was not worth the consumption. The ice cream and whipped cream lacked flavor. The fudge was the only thing I tasted and even that was subpar.

Food and ambiance is good. We were there tonight and there were two employees. The young fellow was working like crazy as there were several customers. The gal sat on her butt and talked on her phone to a friend about horrible drivers while the other employee was literally running to the back room to get change, etc. When she finally decided to work it was 20 minutes before closing time. We were sitting there with our drinks wondering when they closed. She began kicking chairs into the tables and slammed the front door. When we asked her when they closed, she said in like, ten minutes.Half the workforce there didnt do much work. Not impressed by that. Probably not going back.

Best ice cream shop in Sedona by far. Everything is homemade, most of it in plain sight. Every item is a cut above, so there really isnt a way to recommend a specific item. The pies might be better than your mothers, all made by Carrie, who owns the store with her husband Lane, who makes the ice cream, which includes flavors like Belgian Chocolate, Espresso Swirl and Prickly Pear, and can have toppings mixed into it on the cold stone. The coconut macaroons are almost guaranteed to be the best you will ever taste, and the coffee and draft root beer are local and delicious. Even the waffle cones are home made and taste and smell delicious. You can also get a sandwich or hot dog if youd like.In addition to the quality of product, perhaps the best feature of The Black Cow is the atmosphere. You can tell that everyone feels that their coworkers and bosses are their friends, and Carrie and Lane are more like parents or mentors than owners. Everyone is friendly and willing to chat, and even the building has an old time ice cream shop feel that makes you forget the problems of this age.I would give a recommendation of the shops must try item, but honestly, its all equally exceptional. If I had to choose, I would say to try the macaroons and the draft root beer. If macaroons arent your style, go for pie a la mode. It will be worth every penny.

From a foodie: Delicious homemade pies (I samples the apple crumb, pecan and strawberry rhubarb), husbands butter pecan waffle cone was good and I love the fact that their goodies are homemade. Cant wait to return to try their cookies and other pie and ice cream flavors. I rarely take time to write reviews, much less 5-star reviews. Keep up the great small business work you are doing as it is not lost on us! =)

Cute cafe, very busy but they get through the line pretty quick. Sandwich was large enough to share. Ice cream was good, but the waffle cone was so hard toward the bottom, I was afraid I would break my teeth, so didnt eat it. Warning do not get the coffee/espresso! It is undrinkable!
