The food is delicious and plentiful. The wait staff are always busy and trying very hard to keep their customers happy. I have an issue with the bus boy standing in the corner looking at his phone. The bus boy no longer brings water, and most of the time the waitress has to clean off the table. Staffing is short, so why isnt this person stepping up & offering more help. He gets part of the tips, so, he should be doing a little more.

Large menu, friendly staff. They offer take out service but the eggs dont fare well in a box even 10 min later. I recommend dine in when possible.

Ate here for the first time this evening and left very satisfied to say the least. The food was DELICIOUS from my meal down to the salad dressing. My family and I would definitely go back. The Happy Place has become our new favorite restaurant!

We have visited the Happy Place Cafe twice now and each experience has been a pleasant experience. I am big on hospitality and courtesy. Ryan is exceptionally phenomenal in that department. I am on a new diet to watch my sugar and sodium intake as I am pre-diabetic and my blood pressure is borderline. Ryan helped me to pick the right food and right condiment that were both sugar-free and low in sodium. In addition, she is just outgoing and very interactive with people!! We absolutely enjoy eating at the Happy Place Cafe and the food is absolutely delicious!!! It is a nice atmosphere as well and great location!! I highly recommend it if you are in the Shorewood, Illinois area.

Some plusses and some minuses. I just keep giving this place another try, but its the food that I think is not very good. The rolls were great, but my soup didnt taste homemade. The corned beef on my sandwich was terribly salty, but the sourdough bread it was on was excellent. I guess theyre good at bread! The service was very good and the place was clean and inviting. I know a lot of people like it.

This restaurant is great! My first time ordering and I was not disappointed. I was craving a stir fry and they delivered. To my surprise when I ordered two, that they were on the 2/$20 menu with an appetizer. Everything delicious🔥

Came here with my husband in hopes of finding differently prepared breakfast platters, however breakfast was the same as in any other restaurant that offers breakfast. The place is esthetically pleasing however for whatever reason it did not feel cozy to me, it felt as if I had just been crammed up in a big room to eat amongst others. As we walked in the door the host had just walked away and another employee that walked by didnt even acknowledged us as he posted himself in front of us. Other than that the food was good and the waitress did her job.***there is not intent to be mean or negative with my comment just sharing my opinion and hopefully helps the establishment make changes or adjustments when they do and if they do*****

I love this place. Literally. They have the best, freshest (is that a word?) coffee ever. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu. They also have very large portion sizes for the price you pay.

Ordered a hot roast beef sandwich last night. There were many lumps in the mashed potatoes. The gravy was tomato flavored. Gross. It was a roast beef sandwich and the beef gravy was missing it was not what the 2 of us expected or liked. Skip this item!!

Really good food for the $$. Cant beat the quality for the price. You could easily split a meal for $10 because the portions are huge. I will be ordering carryout a lot since its almost cheaper than cooking.

I was highly disappointed. I initially went to the one that is in Diamond IL. It was amazing thereWhen I walked into the Happy Place it was definitely not making me feel happy. The place needs some color, music. Not to mention when we first came in. We waited about 5 minutes or more so someone to come out and say hello. As we got seated we ordered our food etc. The waitress was already in what seemed to be a blah mood. We waited for our food mind you there were probably 2 other small parties as well. Upon receiving my food it was cold. I didnt send it back so we ate. We got asked once how we were which is fine. But no coffee refills no are you ok nothing. She came by the table basically threw down our check and said have a good one. I was like well we wont be back here again. Id rather drive to Diamond.

I went there this past Sunday with my mom and it wasn’t a terribly long wait. We were sat down next to this family with an adorable baby girl and we noticed they were speaking Spanish. During our meal it was difficult getting refills of coffee and even noticed they just left my mom’s cup of coffee on the counter and forgot about it. The waitress wasn’t the friendliest and we just assumed they were short staff and she may be overwhelmed. Upon getting up to leave the restaurant I really couldn’t help but take notice of the segregation. One side of the restaurant was ALL Hispanic customers while the other was ONLY white. I cannot answer the reason for this or have a clue why it was the way it was, but I can report my experience. I hope it was only coincidence and it was only that day but it is definitely something I noticed.

Ordered to-go breakfast for the family, and everything was delicious. The skillets had generous portions and werent just full of potatoes like some other places have been. Love all the options for the meals when you order online!Food was ready much faster than expected, which was a nice surprise.

Big PASS. Had the French dip beef sandwich with fries. They include soup. I got some nasty sliced pressed meat product on a sub roll and fries. Au Juice very greasy. Soup was homemade and passable. People must come for the breakfast definitely not for roast beef. Theres a lot of other restaurants near buy.

My favorite place for a steak skillet! Although, Service inside on my last visit was subpar when I brought my mom and uncle who were visiting for the first time. The waitress did not greet us and introduce herself. She just began taking our order. The 3 steak skillets we ordered with cheddar cheese came with American cheese. And when ordering carry out on three different occasions for a family of 4, they either forgot something completely or omitted something.

Editing review to refect Post Covid Visit. Recently (July 29, 2020) we came for breakfast. Server was super sweet and food was delicious. I felt they were taking good precautions, masks to be worn until seated, paper menus (or a phone option), disposable packets of salt, pepper, ketchup, and syrup. Coffee was not poured at table, rather fresh mugs were brought.Previous review:Although the hostess was not a happy face at Happy Place Cafe, our waitress was fantastic! The food came out really fast. It was good, but the hashbrowns were not brown as the name implies. ;) I had to also add a litle extra salt and I am not a salty person haha! The decor and feel of the place was really nice, although I suggest you dont direct your gaze to the really high decor if extravagant amounts of dust creep you out.

I live nearby and have stopped in several times for breakfast. I have always thought the staff needed to cheer up a bit and that they were less than attentive. So, today confirmed that. When I ordered the country skillet that is supposed to come with country gravy. When it arrived it hard barely any on it. I point out to the server that there is no gravy I would expect her to look at it and agree that there was very little gravy. She said oh sure there is gravy there and then a moment or two later she realized she was completely wrong and offered to get more gravy. It was as if lightning struck. She left to get it, helped other customers, then glanced at me realizing she forgot to get the gravy and finally brought over luke warm gravy to put on my now luke warm meal. I really dont want to drag you under the bus during Covid but you simply missed the boat when you initially acted like the gravy was there. It wasnt. The cashier asked how everything was. I said OK. She said just OK? I said well you really dont want to hear it but.......I explain. She said she would talk to the server and cook. Thats great. I wont be back. You should have offered to make it right by discounting the meal or something. You didnt. There was zero accountability. Rest assured other local establishments take a different approach.

Went to have lunch with my boyfriend and grandmother and after sitting there for 15 minutes un greeted, we were told that her (teacup size) support dog was not allowed so we had to leave. The server was extremely apologetic and we made sure she knew it wasn’t her fault, she was just the messenger. However, we will never be back nor recommend this cafe to anyone. You legally aren’t allowed to turn away people with their support animals. Just an FYI.

This is my favorite go to for breakfast. A perfect name for a happy place to go. Its quiet, relaxing and you feel at home. The best potato pancakes around. I also like the crousantwich. Havent been there for dinner but Im sure its just as good. If you want a quiet relaxing place to go give it a try. You wont be disappointed.

Service is below par. I found they are not for the customer at all and only worried about getting you in and out! Pick up orders are denied 25 minutes before closing time which is crazy in these times!
