Probably the best place to get your electronic and musical gear in the DMV area
Bob, Ive visited ProTech many times before Covid, and as an Electronic Engineer (old school), I know when I meet real techs. I wish we could teach the wide range of customers that we start diagnosing their equipment with the first few questions asked, and this is not an attitude. At this time I have a one of a kind amp in need of your T.L.C., it was scoped at over 3,800 watts R.M.S. per channel and valued at < $9gs. It will never be serviced by anyone but ProTech or myself. I hope my audio, video, and musician enthusiast out there read this because it is from my heart. Oh, as an owner of a Hammond C3, the same thing goes. May we all get past the Covid so we can get to experience Real Professional Techs.
I totally recommend ProTech! Raul, my dedicated technician, was super qualified and super cool. Not only did he fix my issue, he also took advantage of having my device opened and serviced/cleaned all the interior. He also showed me how to make better use of it when we tested it. My amp is working like new, and the repair price was very reasonable. Thank you, Raul and Protech!
The most knowledgeable techs in the industry. Great service. Always honest. Fair prices.
Horrible service. Dishonest. Unprofessional. Extremely disrespectful and tried to overcharge me for unnecessary repairs and failed to do the one repair the onsite tech recommended. Poor communication. DO NOT USE THEM.
ProTech Technicans fixed my Avant Grand N1! Im an engineering and was really nervous about finding technicians capable of looking at this beautiful complicated instrument. I HAVE FOUND MY GUYS AND GALS! This group is incredibly professional and knows their stuff. They fixed an individual component on one of the boards that had gone bad (without replacing the board!) for under $700 dollars. I can not recommend these guys enough.
They are professional they have the knowledge to help you on what you needThey helped me good customers serviceI will back as soonest i need it
Great repair and they finished the repair in good time
Took 2 weeks in shop.. but repair went well. $155.00
This team handled my request professionally and repaired a guitar amplifier I didnt know could be resurrected! Thanks as always for the service and attention. I have been a customer of this place for years.
Very professional and knowledgeable. Did exactly what I ask for on a Fender 212 Front amp and they did a couple little things extra that enhance the performance.
Reasonable price for the service. Fast 1 day service .
This place is great. Best pioneer servicer around and as far as I know the only accredited one! The staff is prompt, friendly and knowledgable. Prices are fair and work is good. I drive over an hour to bring my gear here because of these things. Highly recommended
These folks are fantastic. My old but great OIW got badly smashed and they fixed it up. Weeks later, when I had a problem re multi timbral midi output to digital performer, they patiently helped me by phone. Good folks Good work. They treat you SO well. . .
One star is not something I give lightly. Even fast food restaurants get two to three from me. The only experience Ive had at this place was legitimately bad. In early 2020 I brought my grandfathers Fender Rhodes to get serviced. It took a decent amount of time to get to the front of their service line and hear back, which was expected so I wasnt put off yet. However it took a long time for the work to get completed, which in retrospect was not worth the wait, and Im not entirely sure what they were spending all that time doing. I fortunately was able to pick up the piano before the non-essential business shutdown in April 2020, and while I was there I decided the try out a Mackie MIDI DAW controller. Within a few weeks I was able to get my studio set up to accommodate the newly repaired piano and the Mackie controller, and so I was able to try everything out fully. Ill start with the controller: it was advertised as fully functional, but it was not. I was luckily able to return it for a refund once their business was able to open back up in the summer. The piano almost immediately started to have problems; I picked it up on March 25th and sent an email they never replied to about the issue on April 19th. The amp would buzz and distort and pop when I turned it on and off, not something you want to notice after paying $500 in repairs. I had even told them that I would be using this piano professionally in both studio and performance work, so they knew their repairs needed to be able to support heavy use of the instrument. When I returned the Mackie in the summer I was able to talk to them, go over the emails that they never replied to, but they gave me this attitude, we know the work we did was good, sorry youre having trouble but you need to bring it back here and let us fix it, even though I had already spent a decent amount of money and expected the thing to be fixed the first time... The piano eventually died on Christmas Eve during a performance, and I was forced to swap to a backup keyboard. Its a shame. Both the electrical service and customer service were inadequate and unsatisfactory. I will be visiting any other repair shop from now on.
Needed repair on instrument, couldnt do it within time frame, so went to Washington music in Wheaton, MD. all OK
Went in this business to purchase a horn/tweeter(driver) for my jbl eon and behringer powered speakers. I was told that the off brand horns work better than the originals, but unfortunately they didn’t make it for my jbl eon, so I had to get the original one. I try the off brand one on my behringer speaker and it works great. So I decide to part ways with the jbl eon, so I try to return the jbl original horn/driver unopened and was told they don’t take them back. No one in there told me about that policy and there no sign in the store stating that. It’s a shame that when you go into this business and buy something everyone in there is friendly but when you try and return something the service disappears. As you can see on the pictures below amazon or eBay would of taken it back with no problems or excuses . Do your self a favor and stay away from this business and shop online. I been djing for over 20 years and never had experience service like this. It’s unfortunate there’s no other business like this around. I’m not looking for anything free, just wanted to get my money back for something I don’t have use for...now I’m stuck with a horn/driver I can’t use..SMH
It was a little difficult to find but we did
Terrible customer service. Lied to me about not having a certain product in stock.
I would like to thank Protech for a job well done on my Roland PM-200 V-Drum monitor, it works like new again thank you guys.
I dropped off my pioneer cdj 2000nxs2 a few weeks back. The cdj was a lemon from an online purchase. It had issues with lighting, specifically the direction and sync button along with others not lighting up. This was a lot harder than it looked. They fixed it. Not only did they fix it, but it feels like new now. Incredible work. Would recommend them if you have a pioneer cdj product that needs to be repaired. Very impressed and very happy with the results. Thanks!
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Serviced my KRK speakers and they had it ready next day.
Very professional and dependable
The guys at Pro Tech were very helpful and definitely addressed my repair concerns. I didnt feel rushed which was very satisfying.
Nice service
Great service and very accurate repair estimate!
Its all good!
Professional fast service
Well, Here is my story. I took a Yamaha S80 Keyboard in for cleaning and minor repairs in Feb or 2017. They charged me twice what I thought or would have paid my regular repair guy, if he wasnt overbooked. I agreed and called back in May to pick it up only to find that I was being charged additional storage fees. For what they are asking me to pay, I could buy a new board. I did not agree to paying exorbitant fees. They refuse to give me the board, the manager (Jeff) saying Ive forfeited my rights to get the board.. What!?! Been knowing this business for 25 years. Have heard the horror stories. And now this is mine. Better Business Bureau for sure. I guess well let a judge decide. Glorified pawn shop, maybe. Consider yourself warned!
Welcoming atmosphere so far!
The best instrument repair service in The DMV. Period . I wish they had a location in NOVA because I drive 1 hour from Arlington, VA to get my amp serviced. Theres a place in Springfield, VA the does amp repairs & service. Ive heard nothing but horror stories about that place. I have used Pro Tech exclusively for the past 12 years. Never had a problem & ALWAYS had super fast, prompt service. I ALWAYS recommend ProTech to ALL my musician friends for the service & repair of theyre gear, be it amps or keyboards. Honestly, if you want your gear repaired or serviced professionally by professionals go to ProTech. Very knowledgeable people. Professional techs working on your gear & prompt fast service........WHATS NOT TO LIKE ?
They did a good job fixing my tube amp today. I paid extra $50 for express service and was in and out in less than an hour. Very pleased!
Perfection
We used Protech for our lighting and sound needs for our wedding and were very happy with the quality of their equipment. Our equipment arrived on time and the staff did an amazing job with set-up and break-down. Very happy with their service and selection.
By far the best repair service crew in the Washington Maryland Virginia area. Ive been using these guys for years and are life savers very honest very trustworthy and above all very knowledgeable. For me they mostly service my keyboards speakers and amps and even a couple European amps they were able to repair for me which was above and beyond. They also do lights guitars microphones etc etc anything audio visual related they also sell some killer used equipment for amazing prices. If they say they can fix it they will fix it. LOVE THE RUSH OPTION sometimes can have you in and out while you wait. Ask for Mike or Jeff these guys are a dream team at the front counter and can meet your needs to any specific repair.
I dropped off my Tube Amp after a funky smell/no sound scenario. They dealt with the folks in Italy to get my new board up and running and my MarkBass sounds better than ever. Jeff & the whole team made sure they got my amp working right before they got it back to me. I appreciate their service and recommend them for your amp needs.
Difficult situation when parts were hard to track down from the supplier. Nobodys happy when there are delays, but some things are out of everyones hands and I appreciate the follow-through.
A very interesting place! They rent instruments for school band, plus sell/rent a whole host of other music-related items like DJ equipment. When you walk in, it looks like a pawn shop--lol--but its actually a pretty cool place. Prices arent bad.
ProTech has been around for decades, from their old location beside Chuck Levins to their current local off Tech Road. Theyve provided excellent repair work and services. Fixed Speakers, mixers and microphones.
Excellent service, they were very helpful with repairing my McIntosh AV receiver. Took about a week to diagnose, and then they called with a quote. They saved me a few hundred bucks by repairing the problematic component instead of just replacing it and pocketing extra cash! Very reasonably priced, would go back to them again with any AV repair issues!
These guys have been taking care of my amps and guitars for over 10 years. Theyve always done me right. They have got me fixed up for gigs on short notice on more than one occasion. I would recommend their serviced to any musician who cares about his equipment.
Bob is awesome! Trust his expertise implicitly. 😎
I took in my Pioneer XDJ-1000mk2 for a repair due to a standby light flashing on a Saturday. To diagnose, it was $50 and the estimate time to have an answer was over 2 weeks so I paid an additional $50 to have it rushed. The unwelcoming lady eating lunch at the front desk told me that I would get a call by Monday after the problem was diagnosed. No call was received on my end so I called on Wednesday to check on the status. The tech states I had to replace the lcd and main motherboard on the XDJ estimating $700+ of work in addition to the $100 I paid previously. After waiting a couple days I authorize the repairs. A few weeks later I get a call saying the parts did not fix my problem. Then I receive another estimate upwards of $900 and no guarantee that it will fix my problem. I declined the repairs since a brand new XDJ is about $1200. I picked up my xdj and had to pay $125 due to a restocking fee. The owner credited me the $50 I payed for the rush so I only had to pay $75 for picking up my equipment that was unable to get repaired and diagnosed properly. Im down $125 and still have an unusable piece of equipment. I wouldnt take any DJ equipment here for repairs even though its the only shop able to look at it in the region. The estimates on time were wrong for getting an answer after diagnosing the issue and the estimate for how long it would take to receive/install the parts. Save your time & money, go somewhere else.
I highly reccomend Protechs services to anyone in need. I have brought multiple items to them recently, both vintage and new equipment, and have been very happy with the results. The staff is very pleasent, Jeff and Johnny are very gracious and great at what they do. I have to drive an hour an fifteen minutes to get there, but it is more than worth it. Thanks ProTech!
The staff was very professional and helpful
Very knowledgeable about what they do!! Helped me solve my problem...am very satisfied with the service!!
Very knowledgeable great service.
Jeff always helps me out. I appreciate the good service here.
Diverse equipment. Fixed my KRK in 2 weeks under warranty.
Awesome place to rent and repair. I recommend this place. People are friendly there.
Always easy to deal with. First class work and good turn around time.
Took my amp in for service and everyone was super kind and helpful.
I get my equipment serviced here
Very knowledgeable staff...quick fast service...
Great price, they fixed my amp in a timely fashion!
Exclusive No Doubt...
I sent a qsc amplifier to Pro Tech 3 times to get repaired. It still wasnt fixed correctly. I ended up sending the amplifier back to qsc to get fixed.
My Pioneer DDj-SX2 controller left jogwheel became unresponsive .Took it to ProTech and im blown away. not only did they fix the Problem with a quick turn around but they also updated my firmware at no extra cost. They kept me in the loop called me three times first with functional check results, second to inform me they were waiting on parts and this morning for pick up. Im just a guy out here on the Grind but they treated me like a valued customer. Thanks again Pro Tech
Good place for repair of electrical musical instruments
2wweks before they can look at the gear or another $50 expedited.
They are everything I need when it comes to my Audio repair needs
Trust me when I tell you that in the entire DMV there is not one location that has the utter most knowledge, experience and dedication as Protech. I have been dealing with Protech since 2005 and have seen them grow from an extremely small location in wheaton, md to a massive warehouse. Whether you have questions about speakers, how to play a guitar or even a simple Owhat does that button do?!, rest assure, these guys have the answer 110%. Need lights? Speakers? Wires? Turntables? Anything that could possible have ever been related to music? Youll find it here. And to be completely honest, at first, I did my research and attempted to find others that may have rented out equipment and have done repairs. However, the prices were NOWHERE NEAR Protech. They simply have everything at the lowest price around here. I have friends in the music business in Richmond, Virginia that drive 2 hours to Protech for repairs. This place is way more than what it seems. In more modern terms...Protech is the Google for Music, except they do much more than complete your search!!!
I agree with DJ Freeez. I wouldnt refer any of my peers or independent DJs to SSs Pro Tech. The general manager, Jeff, is very inconsiderate towards others business affairs, only his own.- Jeff, Bowie State University DJ
First time going there after looking at their reviews. I took a Klipsch surround speaker with a set of Polk surround speakers. After almost two weeks they called and said all of the speakers were blown, after discussion and my questioning them they tell me theyll check again. I told them the important one was the Klipsch. Now they call a week later and tell me that the Klipsch wasnt blown but needed to replace the crossover, this tells me that they did a cursory ear check at first. They did not tell me that the labor is $96.00/hr minimum up front which I think they should have when your that expensive, the part was $4 (less than a dollar retail on the internet) and would have taken no more than 15 minutes to replace. So I payed over $100 for a minor repair. I dont trust their diagnosis of the Polks which was just a general, the speakers are blown, according to them, so was the Klipsch. I could not recommend them with clear conscience and if I did I would say dont take them for granted, ask questions about cost and press them for details on their diagnostics.
Had a bad experience with them doing my warranty for Guitar Centers ProCoverage, sent my amp first time for what I thought was a electrical shortage, 3 wks later they send it back with no explanation what was wrong or repair done and still malfunctioning sent it back and they stated it was a tube issue took them 4 wks to repair a tube issue and ship it back to me when I received my amp was all busted up the back plate was broken, gouges in the back from trying to take the back cover off, front grill plate shorting out causing the Peavey 6505 emblem to go out as well the front panel to pop out due to their negligence. All in all I am totally dissatisfied with the work and professionalism what kind of repair place sends a item back broken and needing still to be repaired.
Completely disrespectful !!! They just want your money smh- DJ Freeez, 93.9 WKYS
Kickass job on my Marshall 4212 combo!
Extremely terrible service. I witnessed DJ Freeezs testimonial. No discrepancy for their customers .
Great service and expertise!
Disrespectful, poor communication and very slow service. Mesa Boogie should drop them from their approved repair stations.
Didnt actually fix my Yamaha sound board after having it for a month
The only place to go...
Gave me great trouble shooting advice over the phone even after we realized he wasnt the closest service center and he would gain no business out of the conversation.
Experts at their craft......
Repairs can be expensive....the labor!!!!!
Great services
