Beware, I called and asked for an estimate on replacing the half shafts on a Honda Accord. I was supplying the new parts. Their estimate was double the cost, $489 of another shop. I asked him why and he admitted it was a quick easy job that took about two hours but to make it worth his trouble he was doubling the price. At least he was honest, so two stars.

This family has treated me and my truck excellently. I highly recommend them to anyone in the Kenai/Soldotna area with vehicles needing work.

The brakes on my Toyota Camry were in horrible condition. After looking at the front we assumed the back were just as bad. When we picked up the car we were informed only the front needed work. Who is this honest? This shop could have very easily charged us for front and back and we wouldnt have known the difference. Well be using Ellis for all our repairs!

I had a bit of an issue at one point with paperwork so I decided to take my car elsewhere. Heres what I learned from that experience: Ellis automotive is the trustworthy, reasonably priced place to take your vehicle. They arent perfect but I learned my lesson and wont go elsewhere.The oil changes are competitively priced and come with a car check up. That gives me peace of mind.They dont tell me my car needs repairs it doesnt. The other places I brought it to came up with issue after issue- thousands of dollars worth. My boyfriend explained to me the problem this place was trying to say was happening wasnt even possible because the parts they said were dripping on and rubbing against each other werent even next to or above/below each other. There really are places where mechanics will try to take advantage of you if you dont know about engines. ELLIS WONT DO THAT. And I love that. About $60 for an oil change and check up from them was all it took to hear the car was fine for her age.Thank you Ellis Automotive!

Always knew this place was expensive but found out today they are charging far too much time for jobs on top of their very high shop rate. I had been calling around to get a cv axle in my 2012 Tundra, the going rate around town was $200 -$250 and two hours labor. Called Ellis because my prefered shop couldnt get the truck in until next month. I was quoted $400 - $500 with 3.5 hrs labor. I explained I had been checking with other shops and they were way to expensive and all I got was oh, sorry, have a good day. Called another shop and will be getting the job done for $221.54 with tax. That is 4 other highly rated reputable shops charging half the price and time. Thanks for nothing Ellis.

I was way over charged! $300 for a 4 wheel alignment is twice as much as Dans Automotive in Soldotna charges at $149. I was charged $120 to do a code review on the cars computer. The code review showed I needed a yaw sensor replaced in my stability control. Brent wanted to charge me $430 for a part that wholesales $163 and has an MSRP of $267 as per GM. When I questioned him about it he said he has to charge that much to keep the lights on..... Alaska Sales & Service in Anchorage would have charged me $241 for the part as I am a first responder plus 2 hours labor to install it, and 1 hour calibrated it. Ellis Automotive wanted 3.5 hours. Even if Ellis bought the yaw sensor at full retail they wanted to charged me 67% more than full retail on the part. When my warranty company questioned their prices I did research and found Ellis Automotive prices were way over what someone should pay. I ended up with a $590 bill for an oil change and an alignment. Ive never heard of those two things costing so much. They will talk a good game but when it comes to price they will take your money all the way to the bank. To say I was disappointed with Ellis Automotive is an understatement. The only reason I gave him two stars is they managed to get the oil change done and the alignment was within specifications. I will definitely never use or recommend Ellis Automotive for any work on any vehicle at the prices that they charge. I feel it was shameful. Thankfully I could afford to pay their ridiculous prices in order to pick up my car. I hope somebody whos on a budget thinks twice before giving Ellis your business
