Absolutely delicious coffee and breakfast pastries! We had the atomic coffee and the Witchhazel hazelnut coffee, both of which were fantastic. We also enjoyed their vegetarian quiche, coffee cake, and carrot cake muffin.The staff members were very helpful with reccomendations and quick to assemble and heat my order.Also, and I cannot overstate this point, THERE IS AN OCTOPUS ON THE CEILING AND A FISHTANK!Great place to visit, I highly recommend it.

Ray of freaking sunshine. Best item on the menu in my opinion. Its been years since Ive been here. My best friend and I decided to go recently and the latte still tastes fantastic and they added extra orange zest! The baristas were very helpful and a pleasure to chat with. One of my favorite coffee shops in Santa Cruz, definitely one of those shops that you always drive by when youre trying to avoid traffic on the freeway that you always see. It is 100% worth stopping in and having a coffee.Perfect place to stop and get pastries and coffee either before or after a nice walk.

Visited pre-pandemic and it was a lovely little homey coffee shop, was perfect for coffee dates or getting work done. Visited again recently and was very glad to see them taking social distancing/mask usage seriously. Fantastic menu, their coffee is consistently great!

Great coffee..nice and strong but not bitter. Friendly baristas. Only issue I have is due to Covid they keep adjusting their hours so I sometimes find they have closed when I arrive. Minor issue that will fix itself when Covid ends.

This is the best place in the world. The owner is a one of a kind person with genuine interest in all good things. Not bad. Unless they’re the cool kind of bad. The service is exquisite, the pastries are fresh. This is a one of a kind shop! Can’t wait to go back and visit.

We were on our way to San Francisco and looking for a place to get a quick breakfast and coffee. We had already gotten off 3 previous exits with no luck of finding something open or looked good. Then we finally found the Ugly Mug. It looked super cute from the outside and seemed like a fun atmosphere. We went in and were excited to see they had an array of breakfast food choices - breakfast burrito, croissant sandwiches, muffins, etc. The 2 people working had a fun upbeat energy and joked around with us. We got an egg, cheese, and ham croissant to share and it was DELICIOUS! I wasnt sure what kind of coffee I wanted, so the employee recommended one of their 5 daily muggle special the Major Crush - Double Honey Lavender Latte with oat milk. I kid you not, this was the best coffee Ive had in a LONG time! I told my husband, I would easily travel the 40 minutes from our house to go back to the Ugly Mug again and again.

Coffee is good, and pastries and ice cream and the barristae are friendly. Their savories dont excite me. I love the couch, but it may need some plywood under the cushions since the springs are shot. Its a bit loud but not terrible.

Not to mention an amazingly awesome owner who is obviously passionate about coffee and seriously cares for his employees and his customers. This place will always hold a special spot in my heart. Ive been to every coffee house downtown and let me tell ya. By far best coffee Ive had. I ordered a latte, it took an average amount of time to be served and average customer service, but it was delicious. Plenty big cup too. It was definitely obvious that the regulars were content with this place too. Its a fairly popular place with abundance of seating for its guests. Its a funky looking place, which Im attracted to. Top five on my favorites list!

Great local spot with friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. Standard prices for coffee and espresso drinks. Not bargain level, but its quality stuff so I have no reason to complain. The atmosphere is really worth the stop: not too loud, and a great place to read, work, or chat with a friend. Parking is a bit tough, but there is a free lot just across the street.

We went here for breakfast. They have a varied breakfast selection, plenty of eggs, bacon sausage, etc. My friend had a conventional comfort food breakfast and I had oatmeal. We both enjoyed our meal. Along with bananas, the oatmeal came with raisins, crasins ( cranberries) and nuts. The meal was delicious and large. I was stuffed.Its a nice old fashioned rural restaurant and I highly recommend it.

The Ugly Mug is amazing. I love coming in here after school or during lunch.The people that work there are super nice also which is a plus! The coffee is good and you should get a smoothie! This place is alright. I like the coffee and the vibe. The free internet sucks to the point where I could not get any work done. And Im not paying for internet at a coffee shop in 2018. With so many other options nearby I dont see myself coming back here much.

Great local coffee shop. Is what you would expect from local coffee biz. Im am usually there about once a week and always enjoy the interaction with the staff. They apparently cater to local musicians and though I have never been there for the tunes, like that they support local musicians.

Nice folks good coffee, snanaks, ice cream, and an interesting ambience. Very eclectic with a 1960s style with mis-matched tables and chairs and odd art and magazine covers glued to the walls. I also understand that they have live music or poetry readings on a semi-weekly basis, but not while I was there.
