This is the commons area between Trotters Point and Saddle Creek after the most recent cut this week. It looks this way after every cut. This is what I get to look at until the clippings fade into the high grass. When I moved to Saddle Creek I contacted Lightning and was told they didnt provide residential services. Now I know why. Looks like an agricultural trim at best.

We are still waiting for sod to be installed even after giving a deposit for the work. There is no date given for the work, only that we have to wait for “three families to be on the truck”. How hard is it to follow up with a date?Have no problem with the kindness of the employees, we just want to know a date for installation!

I wanted to remove the water out of my sprinkler system for the winter, but the company said they were going to come to my house late in the morning. Because of the lack of specification I asked if they could call me 20 minutes prior arriving to my house, they said they would. But that day I didnt receive a call and was told later in the day that nobody was home. I asked when the next time they would be available to come to my house to take out the water and they said they could come November 9(After one month???????). I was not happy because November 9 would be too late to take out the water. It is bad customer service.

The crew at Lightening did an amazing job on my yard. It was overgrown, tons of weeds and they came in and made it look great. We had so many weather delays from this awful summer and they kept me informed when things changed. The office and the crews that handle things are professional and nice.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! Cancelled on me 2x due to weather which I can understand. But no phone call to let me know while I wait for someone to show??? No follow up to reschedule??? Both times I had to call back in to ask when they’re coming out and they completely forgot to follow up. It’s not a surprise they only have 3 stars…..

Terrible company - Landscaping completed by them on my new construction novi, they installed low quality manual sprinker system (At todays era who uses manual there is no wifi) 6 zones only, but promised me while signing the contract they are going to insatll 8 zone based on my lot size which has not fulfilled, when i asked them they said you have to pay extra amount if you want wifi enabled sprinkler system.They installed worst lightning system, at todays age who uses mechanical based timer system to control the lights which is of no use.2 Cleveland pear tree cost me $400 which is way beyond my imagination or market rate, so i am totally upset with them and complained many times but they threatened me saying they have more than 50 employees, they will come to my property in couple of hrs and remove everything if i not paid remaining 20% as per contract.I paid 80% amount before starting the work which is my huge mistake, so here I am suggesting my neighbors or community be aware from this company, whoever wants to do business with them please take cost breakup for each and every material on paper and then sign, dont consider verbal contract otherwise at last they will force or threaten you to make a payment.Response on your feedbackVery soon i am uploading the pictures what you did in landscaping and what i paid, let me show to society what i achieved, my mistake was i completely trusted on you and paid upfront 80% amount without asking questions if i am paying huge amount for the work i would expect the same from company, nothing is mentioned in contract what sprinkler system and lightning system you are going to install, so you played the game there and installed cheapest one in the market, everything agreed by you guys verbally before signing the contract but did not fulfilled.You wont give any design until and unless I payed you more than 20% amount and that design is nothing but blueprint not detailed description and breakup of items what you are going to install and I paid for this project $11136 so i would be expecting quality and things should be perfect and top in the market, let people decide based on pictures what you did and what i paid, very soon pictures are going to upload.Here are the pics guys please see the pics and decide amount i paid $11136 so be careful i just want to aware of you guys, take each and everything on writing even with the brand names and model what they are going to install with full breakup, i can bet they wont give you anything until and unless you sign the contract with more than 20% amount down, once you sign the contract please ask them a copy immediate because they did not give anything to me until i paid 100%

So, I dont write reviews, but here I am.....this company is exceptional. Bob is amazing, Matt (Project Manager) is amazing, the entire crew was extremely professional. Top notch company from 1st customer interaction. Worth every penny that we spent (and it was a lot of pennies) - new construction home we just moved in to. We went through 5 different landscape companies before settling on Lightning and are very satisfied with our decision.

I signed a contract with them over 6 weeks ago (8/5) and was placed on the weekly cutting schedule. They never came out to cut my newly laid sod. I had to call them several times to get them to come out. Finally after 4/5 calls and talking with Mary and the Supervisor they came out, once. I was guaranteed 2 cuts the first time due to new sod and length. When they arrived, they only cut one time and informed me that it would be recut in 2 days and the trimming would be picked up at that time. It has now been 3 weeks no-one has come out. I now have burn spots in my new sod/grass because they never came to conduct 2nd cut and pick up the left over trimmings from the first cut. Mind you, I’m suppose to be on a weekly cutting schedule. I spoke with the supervisor on 9/14. He promised better service, and they would be out by the next day to cut. Well it is now 9/18 and they have yet to come out and cut my grass. In 6 weeks, they only cut my grass once. They are horrible, unorganized, inconsiderate and have very bad business practices. It’s been 6 weeks I’ve had a contract with them and they have only cut my grass once. Stay away from this company. Everyone talks about how they have bad they are. Mary was very nice, but the men are pigs. I always try to look at the glass have full! But lightning Landscape glass is empty for me! Stay away! Very unprofessional and unproductive. I will be taking them to civil court for destroying my new sod that was just laid July 2020.

Lightning just completed our landscape, sod, sprinkler and lighting. Every aspect of their work was completed with professionalism and skill. Bob, our sales person, was in constant communication with us and showed up to our home each morning to walk us through the entire process and to be sure the work completed met our expectations. We met with Bob and his team to get a paver patio, irrigation system, and sod installed for our new construction home. Everyone was super easy to work with, the design was thoughtful, and the pricing was very reasonable especially for the high quality of work. Next spring theyll be back to add some additional features and provide lawn maintenance. It was a great experience, and were looking forward to working with them again.

For the sake of keeping this brief, I will spare the specifics. But basically they see no value in returning calls in a timely manner, showing up for jobs at all, and having the appropriate supplies and parts for said job. Most importantly, they are unable to complete jobs due to being inept or unqualified/inexperienced. Not sure I would trust these guys with turning on a garden hose much less repairing a leaking sprinkler system. The guys doing the work were at least friendly, can’t say the same for anyone else. Too bad, always for supporting local businesses. Just move on or DIY.

We we contacted Lightning to landscape around a new driveway that was put in over our old gravel driveway and another small area. There was ~300 feet of driveway that needed to be raised 4 inches and tapered in 3 feet. For the orignal quote they recommended 25 yards of dirt and *80* pounds of grass seed. When I asked why they needed 25 yards of dirt an 80 pounds of grass seed when it should take less than 12 yards and 10 pounds, Nathan said I was trying to beat him up on the price and he had been doing this for years. I didnt get a good answer on using math to determine the amount of dirt and grass seed and will not be going backThanks for the reply.Yes, I had to talk Nathan down from 25 yards to 15 yards since he mentioned that once the dirt is delivered they will not take it away.I would suggest checking your grass seed calculator. Im not sure what seed you were using but 80 pounds should cover at least 8,000 square feet and some varieties cover more as I am sure you are aware. The tree project was a separate line item and did not include the 80 pounds of seed.

I would recommend this company for new sod and would be willing to use them myself for any future projects that may come up related to my yard and landscaping.

EDIT- Received the check dated 7/22/202 with a postmark on the envelope 7/30/2020. Not sure what took so long......Very disappointed! A promise was made by Justin (owner) to pay for some damage that the weed whipper people did to my Air Conditioning unit. Now over 6 weeks later with 3 emails, and no response or payment. We are not talking a lot of money. I had to pay to have the unit repaired and Justin agreed to repay me. Sad that a business such as this does not follow through as agreed. Disappointing!

Ive been calling Lightning Landscaping for a few years to come to my house and remove my leave in the fall. Every year is a great experience. They show up with a crew of at least 6 guys all with high power blowers and a vacuum truck for removing the leaves. Therere done in about an hour and the yard looks great. Without a doubt, the best check I write that year. Couldnt be happier.

Landscape Operations Specialist Robert (Bobby) Munro has done an excellent job of customer relations; he made sure that I am totally satisfied with the finished product. Pathetic.I could give them negative star if that is possible.I had a service call for couple of non functioning sprinkler zones and couple of heads not functioning. I requested at least 30 minutes advance call so I can drive from work. They forgot to put on work order. The guy showed up without any intimation. Fortunately my parents were at home otherwise they would do nothing and charge me for a call.He told over the phone (sounded very unprofessional) the same thing that I already knew that two zones are not working and 3 heads need replacement. Gave an estimate of 300~500 $ without any details of what exactly is wrong and what needs to be done to fix the problem.I asked not to continue as I wasnt sure what exactly he is going to do.I called their office and very poor customer response. The receptionist told that they need to dig out further. Then why the heck they charged me 60 dollars for a service and diagnosis? For telling me what I already knew before they checked. I requested this details as I was about to spend 300~500 dollars. No response from them. Just got a bill that says nothing about the problem.Finally, I went to Home Depot, bought couple of valves and heads. Cost me 50 dollars and fixed it myself. See where 50 dollars compare to 500 dollars. These are also branded parts from Rain bird and not some cheap brand parts.Just unnecessarily wasted 60 dollars without any professional help from them.These guys are so uptight and I dont know what they are thinking. Highly unprofessional.Stay away from them.

We had a great experience working with Lightning Lawn & Landscaping Service from Lyon Twp. We cant say enough positive things... starting with Bob and Brent who worked hard with us to design and develop the look we wanted for our front yard. We had old overgrown bushes and huge decorative grasses removed and new landscaping planted in their places. It was a large project as we also had 2 new rock walls put in and 1 existing rock wall redirected, shored-up and secured. The 4 man work crew lead by Francisco are all excellent. They are hard working men focused on the job at hand and professional in every way.. The quality of their workmanship is superior, second to none. The office staff consisting of Mary and Tammy were always polite and helpful when we had questions or concerns that came up during our landscaping job. Without a doubt we would use Lightning again and would highly recommend Lightning to our family and friends.

We love Lightning Lawn and Landscape! We had them come out and do our sod and landscaping almost four years ago and they did a fantastic job. We did our patio this year and they did a phenomenal job,going above and beyond what we wanted! Justin and his team worked really hard, and got everything done in less then a week. We are so happy for the results and will definitely recommend them to everyone we know! My experience with Lightening was horrible. My walkway and patio was not shoveled until 3 days after a heavy snow fall. I called, sent pictures but was ignored. I could not use my walker and had to use my cane due to the depth of the snow. This was unsafe, so I purchase an emergency fall button in case I fell. Again this last snow fall nothing was done. We let this company go at a finical loss to us. Please do not hire them

After three attempts Owner Justin wont return any contact for 6 weeks now! Our neighbor used them for new construction landscaping. They removed our personal sprinkler heads and changed them with ones to water my neighbors lawn so they wouldnt have to run sprinkler lines down the side of their driveway. After numerous attempts to have them simply changed back I have resorted to this review. Maybe Justin will see this and care about his past customers and neighbors.

Lighting Lawn & Landscape did a great job. The work they performed was superb! They went above and beyond to get my 7 Arborviates removed, mulch laid, and the grounds cleaned up. They also went back to the shop to get a tool and different type sprinkler head to replace the existing one to prevent water from spraying on to a generator being installed on the shub removal site next week. That was greatly appreciated as I will not need to take an additional day off work to get that done. We will have more projects in the upcoming months and we will use Lightening Lawn and Landscaping to get them done. Thank you for a job well done.

Weekly maint crews did a decent job. I had them do some landscape and drainage improvement work and they did 80% of the job well. Tried to get them back to complete the work along with a few other odds and ends and owner is completely unresponsive. Appears they overbook and then will not deal with small jobs. Office staff was nice but could not really assist with the matter.

Best landscaping company! They mow my lawn so fast and it looks so good, Ive been complimented multiple times on how good it looks. So then I hired them to clean up my landscaping, trim my bushes and lay down mulch.i think his name was Francisco, he told me he would take care of everything. He did and he did it fast! They completely revamped my front yard with only mulch and cleaning up my bushes. They even went so far as to weed a few things and organize my messy stepping stones! It was so cool! They did the best job ever and were so polite and friendly. I truly wish I had a before and after, I didnt realize my yard was such a mess until they were finished haha! 5 stars!

Very first service was very poorly done. I immediately sent and email to cancel and explained my dissatisfaction. They continued to cut my law for the next two weeks. I called today to make sure they recieved my email since I had never had any contact from them since my cancellation email. The gentleman who took my call verified that yes they did get my email. I was shocked that no one even cared enough to call or find out why I was so unsatisfied or how they could make it better. He not only made it clear they didnt care but also belittled me asking me if I had ever cut a lawn myself before. Totally an unprofessional company. They spent no more than ten minutes on both my neighbors yard and my own. They cut your lawn quickly, sloppily, uneven and leave a lot of mess behind. I highly advise you do not use this company. They have a lot to learn about customer service!

Revising my previous review... I had Lightning out today to service my sprinklers. The maintenance tech - Nick - was friendly and efficient. Got our system checked out and replaced two bad rotors in 30 minutes. I also received a personal call from the owner to explain to me what happened previously with the scheduling and he sincerely apologized and I appreciated the personal follow up on the issue.

Called them for a repair and they can out as promised. Tech said he didn’t have the part on his truck he needed and would have to order it. After 2 weeks I called back because I had not heard anything. The women I spoke to was very polite and said she would need to call me back after she spoke to that repair tech. Never had a call back. Seems like they don’t want my business. Would recommend a different company if looking for sprinkler repairs

UPDATE-The owner contacted me after I left the below review. They replaced the plant that had died with a really nice one and they made sure my sprinklers got blown out. The owner apologized.Original review ( 2 stars)I hate to write bad reviews and I normally dont but I just feel I need to in this case. I also see the owner reviews all of these so hoping he sees mine as well. I had Lightening come out and do my landscaping and my sod/sprinkler system. They came out, gave a reasonable estimate, and completed the work in a timely fashion. I was really impressed. However, about a month after a couple of the plants died and I was told if that happened they would come out and replace them. It was close to winter so they said they would do it in the spring if they didnt come back. They didnt and when I called they said the person who told me that left and the owner would have to approve the replacement plants . I never got a call back. My husband and I both called about 7 times when finally they said the owner would look at it. Its been about 5 months and no one has come to look at it or given me a call back. Separately, I e-mailed to get a quote on some other work and never got a response. Another issue was I was signed up to get my sprinklers blown out and they missed my house. I drove up to them in the neighborhood and told them they missed me and they were pretty rude to me and said they were planning on coming back to do it. They never did... I had to call and get it re-scheduled and they couldnt schedule me for 3 weeks after and it has already been below freezing twice. Sitting here writing this still waiting for them to come.... they were supposed to come today at noon and still not here. Tried calling... no answer.Left a VM and no call back. I am going to replace the plants myself and probably hire someone else to blow out the sprinklers to avoid more hassle and wasted time. I feel like this company is great when you hire them to do 12K + of work but they forget about you after they do it. Poor customer service and I wont be using them to do large projects in the back of my home.

We built a new house in New Hudson and needed sod and sprinklers so I shopped a few companies. Initially I was drawn to Lightnings competitive price. But when Justin talked me through the sod he explained they grow their own top soil sod whereas most or all of the other companies we talked to use a clay sod. Whats the difference? Man I dont know! But what I do know is ours looks twice as lush and green as our neighbors who had theirs installed at the same time. And we didnt need to lay down any top soil, saving us some money. It looks great and their service is good.

Ive been a LLL customer for three years and am very happy with its service. Their lawn crews are very busy but also looking for me. Most recently, they came over for the weekly cut and told me, The lawn looks scorched. We should skip this week and you should check your sprinklers. I did and sure enough, one of the lines was broken underground and preventing water getting to four heads on one station. I called back and asked for sprinkler repair. They were booked but the front office is very helpful and she said that since it was really a one head repair, she could get a guy out immediately. He came and fixed everything in about ten minutes, one a very hot day. I appreciate the service from Lightning and recommend them highly.

Dont be fooled, RUN AWAY. WHEN they advertise $5500 price on new sprinklers and lawn, THEN give QUOTE for 6,500 for with ZERO details on how many zones, square footage quoted, or ANYTHING included in the service. My project was prepped, and .25 acre. Does not get any simpler than that. BAIT and SWITCH marketing. WHY cant people just tell the truth. Nobody works for free BUT nobody should hire a company who does not give you the details of what you are paying for PLUS mislead you for an appointment with a price they did not deliver upon. WASTED my TIME.

Wish I could give fewer stars. They never return calls. Sales person promised us a lot in his landscaping estimate but the work was horrible. Bushes died, tree died, and grass uneven. Owner is not customer friendly. He watches websites like crazy and will berate you but wont deal with you when you try to contact him directly.Regarding your response:You say this online for show but it is true as others have said in previous reviews that you do not return calls, our grass was uneven, several plants died, and when you finally did come to my home you berated my wife and told her that unless we removed a negative review, you would not do anything to assist us. We tried to contact you and deal with you in a professional manner but you did not meet us half way.And trust me, I DO NOT HAVE YOU CONFUSED WITH ANOTHER COMPANY!

Hacks. Scald and burn up the lawn. Cut to fast. Lay down the sod and rut the yard without consideration what so ever. Halfway through the season have already destroy two sprinkler heads, chewed up black diamond, and edge and trim apparently when they feel like it. A ten year old kid could do a better job. Pathetic.

Terrible Company: There is no stars like negative otherwise i would have given. While signing the contract they will give you tentative dates which is close to your required date but once they took the signing amount then only they are going to share the installation dates for sod and landscaping which is way beyond your required dates.Many other issues with them not going to give breakup or contract copy until you paid the full amount 100%, if you delay amount for not fulfilling the job they will call you and threaten like the same owner did it.Please be careful guys while signing with them business, ask each and everything on paper with detailed breakup including brand names of sprinkler and lighting system with specifications and do not go with the blueprint because that is based on graphics which will attract you but once it is installed on property you will regret your decision.Response on your feedbackHello Mr Owner No one is asking to install anything for free what i paid $11136 i did not get it with the detailed breakup, still you did not provided detailed break on contract what you have installed, detailed break up means which brand equipment you installed with individual price, because many things said in verbal by Bob which is not fulfilled, best lighting system and sprinklers so i was in impression i will get best because i am paying fat amount for my yard so I am just giving alert to everyone who ever is doing business with you be careful. We too are experiencing the same issue as Lauren Zerilli did. We are hoping the owner will reach out to us as well as calling them is getting us nowhere. We had landscaping completed in late September 2017. We were pleased with the job they had completed and would have recommended them to friends and family but no longer will based on the customer service we received after they completed the job. We had agreed to have the hydro-seeding retouched in the spring. We had followed up with our sales rep in March, I was told to wait until the weather had a constant low temp of 50 degrees. I called back when the temps were consistent and was told they would be out to look at the lawn and plants. I reached to them each month since several times with the same response well look at it and call you back. I sent an email and called 2 more times in June 2018 to get answers on next steps. Spoke with salesperson and again mentioned that 60% of the Maiden Grass Gracillims and the Maiden Grass Miscanthus Huron Sunrise plants were dead and that the remaining had minimal new growth. Our salesperson asked if we had been watering the plants which I confirmed we were. He then said he would need to call the distributor they purchase from to see if they had had similar problems reported. Salesperson also mentioned that he didnt know what Lightning could do as the grasses were only guaranteed 30 days. 30 days from when they were planted puts us in WINTER. Salesperson again was to call me the next day and as expected no phone call. The customer service is extremely poor after jobs are completed!

One star for irrigation and one star for quality of sod. Our sod was laid in November. The sprinklers were not turned on at this time because it was so late in the season. In the spring when i started cutting the grass it was so bumpy and uneven. It was lucky I had a self propelled lawn mower otherwise I would Not have been able to cut my lawn. I almost twisted my ankle twice. It appears that the crew that does the grading did not do a very good job. This was brought up to the owned a Justin Shigley. He blamed this on people walking on the sod.The sod was done on Nov 17 2017 and the sprinkler were not turned on at this time. The ground was still hard and no one walked on it. He said that his crew graded the lot before sod was installed but Justin was not there when the sod was installed so how could he know if the lot was graded or not. After he was told of the problem he came out with a paver compactor machine which did not help. At this point my wife started calling and finally got a return call and he promised to fix problem. Never told us when or how he would fix. After several weeks I went in to office and talked to Justin. He said he was busy but he would fix problem. He told me that he would fix it that week ( 2 weeks ago) by friday. He said he would call and let me know when. NO CALL NO SHOW. I suggest staying away from Lightning Landscape unless you are there to oversee the work.PS: on my easement between the sidewalk and street there was a portion of grass (about 10 sq ft) that died right away. After removing the dead sod I discovered rocks and pea gravel in that area. After removing the rocks and pea gravel and putting in new sod. It began to grow. That is a measure of the quality of their grading. Bob Monroe is the one who oversaw the work. He works for Justin. Neither one of them returned our callsMy wife removed the review because Justin the owner spoke to her in a loud and threatening manner which frightened her. Yes the work appeared good because you couldn’t tell how bad the grade job was by looking at it. Also no body walked on the sod after it was laid because it was nov 17. The poor grading job wasn’t discovered til I had to cut it in April. I haven’t heard from Justin or bob monroe for over a month now. Terrible job. Don’t trust them
